I love Phils coffee, and I'm happy to see a new location pop up (especially so close to the station!), but I wasn't super thrilled with this one. Industrial desig is cool, but also very cold. As in literally, it felt colder inside and the baristas were wearing hoodies as customers left to drink their beverages elsewhere. Ambrosia is my usual drink of choice but ordering it half-caf is apparently an impossibility that simply results in watered down coffee with very little of the ambrosia flavor notes. It's The Best was somehow more burnt than smooth. Bran muffin was hard and dry. Still some kinks to work out. read more

Came to Philz because I heard of their legendary mint Mojito coffee!! Ohhh Emm Gee was it good! And so unique!! This place has it down! Loads of customers flooding through the doors but they are smart and have multiple employees at their own area getting the orders taken and drinks made for each individual person they talk to. Very different from the typical barista assembly lines. And with that many customers they're still pleasant as ever! So although it should feel like they're herding you like cattle, it doesn't!! The coffee is awesome - I love the Tesora, Philtered Soul, Jacob's Wonderbar, and of course, the infamous Mint Mojito. I also keep Tesora at home for our French press :) This location is nice and bright (it's pretty new), and I love most of the baristas.. There's one with a septum who's not that friendly, but whatever. My favorite barista is a super friendly brunette who used to work at Starbucks, always has a smile on her face, and slings the best cups here! My first time here. I wish we had Philz in the Midwest. Come to Chicago! I got a small Dancing Waters, medium sweet with Almond milk. So delicious. Perfect blend. I love my medium roasts. It's busy for sure on a Saturday but there are 16 individual pour over stations. They have dark, medium and light roasts. Almost all of the teas have mint in them. I love Philz for its consistency and quality! After trying Philz Coffee, Starbucks has been overshadowed in every way. The price of the coffee ranges between $4-6, depending on the size, or you can bring in your own cup, which they will fill for the price of a small! The service here is outstanding, with the baristas asking you to try your drink once it is made to make sure it is how you like it. Otherwise, they are quick to fix or remake your coffee without a second glance. My personal favorite is the Ecstatic Iced Coffee, as it is a unique blend that you cannot get in a bag to take home and make yourself. Additionally, Philz baristas are trained to account for iced coffees, and make your coffee in mind that it will soon be diluted with water. read more

It's good so far the iced Terosa medium cream medium honey is my favorite. I have to get use to the gritty taste at the bottom of the cup of the Terosa hot. The location was nice not a fan of the restroom it could be cleaner. The beautiful aroma throughout the shop of coffee could not hide the site of hair on the toilet and dirt in the corner of the sides of it and dirty changing table. Outside was peaceful and calming . THANK THE GODS, Philz Coffee has graced Sunnyvale with it's presence. UNAPPROACHABLY RUDE ARROGANT UNPROFESSIONAL HORRID customer service. Some Baristas here have a very self-centered attitude. I Spend so much money at Philz, was so hurt by a barista at this location. I Did not like my drink because I don't like a sting flavor of cinnamon and cloves and wished to get another tea instead - so requested that to the barista by first apologizing and approaching the barista by smiling and being friendly. The response I got from her just blew me away- she told me that I had ordered a mocha (which I had since then for my husband ) which left me feeling like I ruined her day and that-ruined mine too. She then proceeded to grill me about how long ago I had ordered my drink.finally made me a chamomile tea grudgingly . awful baristas. Loud music. Cold air blowing on your face and chilling you to your bones.The drinks here are just different in configuration and mix than other Philz locations. So either change your tastebuds or keep a tab of what light medium sweet/creamy means to the baristas here. Medium medium may mean Light light to the barista next door. Light light may mean heavy heavy. The baristas here are iconic for being INCONSISTENT and Rude, unless you drink black coffee- which even a robot can make for you. My advise to Philz Sunnyvale leadership team- pls sponsor some of your baristas to take a customer service 101 class at a local school or send them to Asia for some hospitality management classes. Another philz, sweet! This is now the closest philz to me without having to travel through multi-cities or take a highway. I really like that sunnyvale is developing more. I'd have to say the decor did not fit philz' image- it's got modern art type vibe to it. But with that said, I liked it! Looked like a good place to study or read. I always ask for my coffee lightly sweetened and it's usually hit or miss when I request this because sometimes they nail it or they hardly make it sweet at all. Phil's is one of the best coffee spots for me. I enjoy a nice cold Ecstatic iced coffee or Mint mojito on any given day. The service is always good and I usually order through the app for a morning pick me up. Sometimes it may be a hit or miss since some baristas don't make it as good as others. Make sure to taste test your drinks in case you need more sugar or other ingredients. Other than that, it's a nice environment to read a book or use WiFi. read more

Ordered ahead on the Philz app yesterday for pick up and the process was seamless! When you order on the app, it gives you an ETA for when your drink will be done which is pretty accurate. There is convenient parking right across the street where you can park for free. I parked my car, walked up to the table that they have set up and picked up my 3 drinks. Super efficient & minimal contact. As much as I hate how Corona has disrupted every day life, picking up coffee orders like this has impressed me with its overall efficiency! read more

I'm giving the store 1 star, the coffee is great! This store needs to help train the employees better. I had the worst experience today. My barista Alexandra made my drink. I order it on the app every time I get coffee here. It's the same thing everyday. I get it it that we have are off days. I asked for it creamy/ sweet. I went to pick up my drink, I walked out I notice that it's all black. So I went back and open up the led to show her that it wasn't want I asked for. She didn't asked me what exactly, I wanted her to do. She just didn't say anything and just started to making my drink all over again. I was just standing there dazed and a lil confused. At this point I was a lil irritated bc I was press for time. After she was done making my drink she never apologized and didn't directly hand me the drink. She just placed it on the counter and didn't say anything. She did explain to me that she can't give back drinks after it's been taken back. I completely get it but all I'm asking for is communication. She seemed to be a lil upset with me and that made me feel very uncomfortable bc it's not my fault that she didn't read the ticket correctly. It's her job to makes the drinks and the tickets tells you everything you need to know about the order. So I don't understand what exactly happen there. It's not like it was rush hour at the store at the time of my order. There was 3 employees there but one person making drinks. I mean she was probably overwhelmed bc she's getting all the drink orders. I completely get it but the attitude is not NEEDED. Especially after she made the mistake. I wouldn't have to come back and say anything if she read the ticket correctly. I called and complain to the manager, she did refund me my money. But that's not my POINT, I didn't want a refund, I just want to feel like I'm a valued customer. I'm in the customer service industry and if it's my fault. Omg I would totally apologize and refund the money right away bc I want the customer to know I value them. The manager her self, didn't seem like she cared at all. Very interesting location. I was looking for a coffee shop to meet coworkers for a side meeting and chose philz. When I looked at the menu I was confused since it was nothing like what I was used to. Needed a strong wake me up! Came to philz coffee after my morning stroll around the farmers market. The coffee house had lovely music, big comfy sofas and nice wooden tables for people to hang out in. The service is pretty sweet! Our barista took our order and made just a regular black coffee into an orgasm! I thought it was just going to be a "Starbucks" coffee where you order and go... Nothing fancy, but they do it different here. The barista actually makes your coffee as you order... Freshly brewed. There is a good selection of different types! I didn't know about phill coffee until I moved to Silicon Valley and thank god I stopped by because their coffee is so different from all the other coffee places I have gone. Let's have a forum on bathroom etiquette. This location has its share of Karens (being a catch-all term for people who will do all in their power, come hell or high water, to have their way) who have no problem bringing in baristas to publicly humiliate people using the bathroom for a bowel movement. My question is: if a location has two single-occupancy bathrooms but no rules on how long one should have to pass stool (AKA this location), what do we as a community do in this situation? See in my mind (and a general poll I ran on Instagram - verified by science), 5 minutes is generally seen as fine to be in a bathroom. And given that there is a second bathroom, some of the pressure is removed. See, in this story, I headed to the bathroom to go about my business. There was no line and I didn't check the other one. The first door I went to was unoccupied so I went in about my business. I took, at most, about 5.5 minutes (I know this because I always play a round of Clash Royale on my phone and matches are at it's longest 5 minutes before the game forces an end - and on this day I lost my match so it ended before that mark...including prep and clean up time, I don't believe I was in there more than 5.5 minutes). Yet as I was washing my hands, one of the baristas was calling for us to leave because there was a line and people were waiting. So as I opened the door to head out, Karen was staring at me which such a an indignant look I had never before seen on my life - you would have thought I had flushed my waste down her clothes instead of the toilet with the look she had. And a line had formed at this point, but how would I have known since I was in the bathroom and applying the normal time I find is fine for bathroom usage? Granted, this was relatively embarrassing. Like I said, no one was in line when I got there and there's a second bathroom. Philz doesn't have any rules on how long one can be in a bathroom, so why I am I being crucified for my bowel movement? I ask this not in anger, but to start a discussion - by how people were reacting, Karen and the barista summoned, I obviously did something wrong. I don't want to do it again so where did I mess up and how should I change in the future? If there is a standard, I would like to know now so as to not make the same mistake in the future. In my own personal opinion, if I may, I believe that the bathroom is a personal space and should be treated as such - thus we mind our own business and don't bother others. But in this case, Karen felt that she deserved the bathroom (or maybe she really had to go). But that brings me to my second point: what right does a non-paying customer have to an establishment's bathrooms? Because SPOILER: Karen didn't even buy food or coffee, she was just there for the bathroom. I, on the other hand, have been a loyal member of this location. I'm not saying that to justify my use of the bathroom - I don't think it really should play a role, but in this case I found it interesting that Karen who didn't patronize the location believed it to be her God-given right to remove whoever she wanted out. I'm trying to be open-minded to all parties and I most likely don't have all the facts - like I said, I don't believe that how a person uses the bathroom is anyone's business. But if we are about to start throwing stones at each other for things that have no rules, we as a society need to come together and put rules in place or else it is pure anarchy. I have waited in line at Philz before for the bathroom and did not feel the need to rush anyone out for my own use. I would appreciate the same decency applied to me - after all, our usage of bathrooms is what separates us from the animals. As for a review: 5 out 5. Great location, plenty of seating to hangout/study/work, baristas are all friendly and cool, coffee is well-made and in a timely manner (shout-out to the Ecstatic), and whoever is in charge of the music is killing it. I discovered their breakfast menu which is much more varied and healthier than the standard American and Mexican breakfast food in the area. It's the only Place to get a spare avocado toast and with a boiled egg topping -- it's a real challenge to find tasty breakfast food that isn't sugary, deep fried, greasy or smothered in bacon anywhere nearby. They also truck in fresh veggie meals from caterers so pastries and bacon aren't your only option. Definitely check out the food menu! read more

I came here today around 4pm. It was my first time at this location. I ordered food and a coffee and then sat down on the bench like a person does at any other philz. I was focused on my phone for a couple of minutes reading work emails and all of a sudden I jumped up so startled because of hearing my name being YELLED. I got so much anxiety because it felt like I was being scolded. It was really unprofessional. Even the cashier was looking over at me and the situation. And a woman also stared at me as I walked over, which added to my feeling like I was in trouble or something. The guy yelled my name to get my food as if he was annoyed I maybe didn't hear him the first time. At any other philz location, coffee and food are left on the counter. Yes they call your name but they don't YELL at you. They leave it there and it's up to you to go check if you missed your name. I got such a horrible impression from this and don't really want to return to this location. I have never had that experience at another philz location. I am not one to leave reviews often, but when I have a really good or bad experience, I do. This really rubbed me the wrong way. I've worked in the food industry for years and did not appreciate this experience nor found it necessary. A coffee shop is supposed to be calm and welcoming. I was extremely stoked that they opened a Philz Coffee in the city where I live. No more traveling 10-15 minutes trying to get decent coffee in Palo Alto or nearby Cupertino. Philz coffee has the strongest coffee in the area. Beats Starbucks or Peet's in terms of caffeine content and flavor; so it's worth the extra dollar if you're thinking of staying wide awake. This Philz Coffee is spacious! There's a lot of seating inside, and the decor is extremely modern/hipstery. There's outlets, fyi, for the serious laptopers. The baristas were also friendly when suggesting what coffee to drink. I usually order the mint mojito. I like the minty flavor, but I don't enjoy the occasional sipping of raw mint leaves. The barista recommended that the Iced Coffee version of the drink (I don't remember the first name of the drink...it starts with an E?) and it was absolutely delicious. read more

Really surprised and delighted by this place. No espresso (weird, right?), but really delicious iced decaf (Static) coffee and also my friend had a brewed coffee which apparently wasn't a substitute for espresso, but pretty good nonetheless. Only issue is maybe I'm too used to Starbucks, but I couldn't figure out where to order (with the Barista) or where to pay (at a register, somewhere else) and then the Barista yells at you to get your drink and you have to go back over to the bar.... Well, if it's not overrun, this makes sense, but when there are a lot of people there it can get somewhat chaotic. The coffee that you find here will be like the coffee you find at any philz coffee. It is rather tasty. My go-to is always the Estatic Ice Coffee. Medium Medium. The cool thing about this place is that it is a great place to study. There are so many tables and outlets EVERYWHERE. They are on all the walls and even under the seats... Expensive coffee, but I do really like the mint mojito. Incidentally, the mint mojito is the only drink I've actually ever had at a Philz because I am a slight mint fiend and couldn't resist the first time, and it was fantastic so I keep ordering it. If you like mint, definitely give it a try! I like that it comes with fresh mint in the cup, which always gives the drink that distinctive fresh mint bite/edge that somehow never comes out when you use dry mint. The location itself is cute, and probably good for studying (I was just passing through, myself). The service is not quick, but also not really slow, just realize you should order over where the drinks get made and then sidle up to the register to pay. (This confused me slightly at first.) I expected this to be over on Murphy Street with everything else, actually, so it's a little away from the center of attention, which can be nice. Philz coffee is just plain tasty. I'm still pretty "new" to the whole experience however both times I have been to this location, the baristas have been knowledgeable, patient and helpful. The coffees have been tasty. I rather prefer this location than the one closest to my house simply because there is space to hang out, people watch and enjoy a cup of coffee. It seems more organized than other locations however I think it is because it is larger. The downside is parking is meh and I imagine this place can be swamped but darn if the coffee isn't a real treat. Ultimately the stars are for the end product and service read more
