Not sure why the hype. I waited 10 minutes with my toddler for a simple Green tea. It was average. The food was interesting - croissants, pastries and the like seemed fresh baked. My Tesoro coffee I ordered tasted just like a regular brewed coffee with milk, was disappointed.

Positives: coffee is far better than the burnt crap they serve at the more well known chains. Negatives; many of the blends on the menu were unavailable, i did not experience the "fast friendly service" others have raved about--it took about 10 minutes to get a basic cup of coffee-- and frankly, I'd rather add my own cream and sugar, thank you very much! This is specifically for the female worker with bangs and camouflage shirt that was there today around 2pm, Fri the 22nd. The ordering and drink took forever when there were barely any customers. They were busy chit chatting. The lady before me got the wrong drink then my drink was just sitting there on the counter. When I went to go check I said, 'Oh! I didn't hear you call my name' and the worker said under her breath to another worker 'I said her name twice', which was not true and very rude. I didn't want to make a scene and was running late so I left. The workers need better customer service training. It's not that hard to be polite and make iced coffee. She should've called my name 2-3 more times if that's true and make sure the customer doesn't wait forever just to get a watered down drink that's $7.15 It's very unfortunate because I was excited to visit Philz in my new neighborhood but I will not be returning! read more

Can someone explain to me how this is a coffee shop? I just wanted an iced americano but it turns out that this coffee shop doesn't have an espresso based coffees. I was just really thirsty so I asked for an iced tea instead. Not only did it take forever, but my husband said it tasted like what he would imagine the water that gathers at the bottom of your garbage can taste like. I LOVE Philz coffee when they make it right but this is NOT okay. I Order from this Coffee shop daily and as of recent the Coffee has been made Different Every single time. This time really Blew it for me! I received my "Honey Haze Coffee" like they just Dumped Black coffee added 2 sugars and Watered it down with ice! It's usually Creamy and Tasty and just the right amount of ice Added. I'm Not sure if they got New baristas but this needs to be resolved. I paid $13 for this coffee through DoorDash NOT OK! in addition I actually walked in the other day when I made an online order but when I picked it up, found out they ran out of Honey so the female Barista said we just Added Brown Sugar. I did not care to complain and walked out because I still had to make it to work. So Malicious! Imagine being allergic and they Don't even Communicate to you what the Substitution was if Ordered Online. Do BETTER! read more

I come here about 3x a week and pre-order online and yet every single time I come in for the order pick up it takes just as long as if I didn't pre-order. Love the coffee, but don't bother pre-ordering because they will mess up the order and then ignore you until you wait in the line. I have been waiting for Philz to open here! I lived many years up in the bay, and Philz was one of my favorite coffee places. I was a shift lead for an artisanal coffee place and am somewhat picky. But Philz is true artisinal coffee and IMO, the best coffee you can get in Ventura County! I actually hate not supporting local, but the blends at Philz are top notch and their specialty drinks are well-done and unique. read more

I love Philz, and this is a great spot, BUT I ordered a chai tea this morning and it tasted like water. I had the barista remake it, and it came out the same--flavorless, pointless, barely drinkable. Mind you, I ordered a chai from this spot yesterday and it was Great! Please, please make sure your baristas know how to make the chai tea!! I wish I had the funds to get coffee from here each and everyday! Amazing coffee. I got the light blend "dancing water" over ice with medium sweetener and cream and it went down so easy, I should have gotten a large. The coffee is smooth, flavorful and lots of options are provided for customization. The ambiance is quiet and a good place to get some work done. I got a Silken Splendor (regular cup of coffee) with a splash of cream. After my recent experience at another local coffee shop, I simply wanted to taste the coffee. This coffee was amazing! I would absolutely go back in a heartbeat and get the same cup of coffee. I know it takes a long time here because they brew each cup as you order it, but this coffee took exceptionally long. I don't get it. Heard the buzz and hype, tried it a few days after opening. Was surprised they don't do typical espresso based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. Got some sort of whipped pour over thing. It was watery and bitter. Waited a week and tried again with re aligned expectations and thought "ok, all they do is pour overs so I'll go in and get just a great cup of black coffee." It wasn't great. While I enjoy the coffee, I'm getting really tired of the quality of work in small businesses diminishing. We ordered 2 Large coffees and 1 was made to fill barely half the cup up. So essentially we paid for a Large and barely got a Small. The people that work there need some quality control and apparently more oversight. I came here early on a Monday morning. The design of the store is very nice. I liked the menu options. The menu was easy to understand and offered a wide variety of coffee blends. I'm more of a light roast coffee person due to acid reflux (LOL) so I was happy to see that there were 3 options of lighter roasts. I ordered a medium-sized Greater Alarm blend. The gentleman who took my order was nice. I waited 8 minutes for my coffee- not too bad for a busy Monday morning. I really liked the taste of my coffee. It tasted exactly like the description.
