You've seen one bucks', you've seen em' all. Well this Starbucks certainly fits that profile. Just your average Starbucks with no bells and whistles, which honestly is not necessarily a bad thing. Even though this is one of many Starbucks within the city limits of 1000 Oaks, this particular location is really here to do one thing and one thing only... Serve that coffee and/or pastry and Go! Sure, before covid you would see those occasional students sit inside or outdoors in their patio section cramming for that exam, but nowadays it just seems like people want to get their cup of joe and boogie. This location seems to mainly serve the locals of the community and maybe those who are passing through town gassing up next door. Staff here have always been pleasant towards me and just seem to be doin their thing to get orders out as quickly and efficiently as possible. Thank you team Starbucks at Janns & Moorpark Rd.

First visit to this location. Somehow fitting that my 400th review is for a Starbucks. The other night, I was running errands for an event that I was doing the decorations for, and needed a break. After gassing up at USA, popped in to the java joint. So pleasant to be greeted as I stepped through the door. The employees were cleaning, yet still attentive to guests. The batista made my drink perfectly, too. While not a huge location, there is some elbow room here. I sat for a few minutes and caught up on check-ins, while enjoying the tunes they were playing. Nice respite in my busy evening. Took my beverage out in to the night to sip while touring local homes and their festive holiday lights on the way home. Thank you for the great experience.

A lot of people around were working, catching up with friends, going on first dates, it was a fun place to get energy and people watch. But the drinks and food are miss or barely hit. The food looks great, the toasts are always gorgeous and delicious. The drinks were unfortunately, very disappointing. I got a large Kauai smoothie and it isn't bad, coconut water, pineapple, strawberry, and banana in a large (24oz) and it tastes like crunchy coconut water. But for $13 I feel like it could've been a lot better. A friend got the morning blend smoothie bowl ($16.50) and an iced London Fog (6) but also didn't like any of it in the end. Describing the London fog as the worst one in her entire life, and only ate the bananas on top of the smoothie bowl. I think personally it's on me that I didn't get one of their signatures, I am a BIG fan of almost every raspberry white mocha I had, but didn't end up getting them, will go next time! The pastries in the window looked so delicious too, but an almost $30 cafe visit is not in my budget as much as I hope it was. I love that they're so accommodating for different restrictions and life goals though, I have multiple friends who don't take seed oils, different milks, vegans, or gluten free and they have an option for literally everyone. I'm so glad they're here!

They have a huge menu with so many different drinks to choose from. I spent a few minutes going back and forth between a few options before finally deciding on the Horchata Latte. Anytime I see a Horchata Latte on the menu, it's a must-order for me. I've had quite a few from different coffee shops over the years, and Makenna absolutely nailed it. It was creamy, smooth, and had the perfect balance of espresso and horchata flavor. Not too sweet, not too strong, just right. The staff was friendly, the service moved quickly despite how busy it was, and the overall vibe of the shop was welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. If you're in the area and looking for a great coffee spot, definitely give Makenna Koffee a try. Based on the Horchata Latte alone, I'll be making a stop here anytime I'm back in Simi Valley.

Place was pretty busy when we went, always a good sign. I tried the Honey Matcha (staff recommendation) and liked the flavor, but it was sweeter than I'd prefer, totally on me for forgetting to ask for less sweet. My husband got the Mexican mocha and said it was good, but both our drinks had way too much ice. We also ordered sausage and egg croissants. The flavor was good, but the sausage patty was on the small side and it was missing mayo. Still tasted fine, just not quite what we expected. Overall, solid spot with friendly staff and cool vibes, just a few small misses on execution. Would go back and customize my order better next time.

I found this spot online and headed over and Im glad I did. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the owners, husband and wife team who immediately made me feel welcome. They were eager to walk me through the menu, offered great suggestions, and were incredibly patient while my brain was still waking up at 9am lol. Their kindness and humor made me feel right at home. This place also feels homey. If you take a moment to look around, you'll notice the personal touches such as the artwork, photos, and thoughtful details that tell a story of their family. Okay Now to get to the good stuff the drinks and bites are stellar, here's what I got: I finally found a seriously addicting chai here in the 805. I'm very picky about chai, so when Robin insisted "you're trying this" so I listened and I'm so glad I did haha. Freshly brewed, no artificial flavors, perfectly spiced. I think I would dub this one of the BEST chai's I've ever had. 10/10. Their classic breakfast bites hit the spot too. I had a breakfast sandwich with crispy bacon and a fresh egg. Simple but good. I'd get this again but also would be open to trying some of their other bites. 8/10. The handmade bakery section here was unreal. The apple pastry I ordered was pure nostalgia and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more of their daily baked goods. The selection was huge and lots of different options to try. I think their passionfruit pastry will be calling my name next time. Lastly I leave you with a Fun fact: if you're a football fan or into chess, this is your cafe. Chess tables are available for playing at and it's the perfect morning spot to catch matches over coffee and pastries. Much to my surprise, it was about as lively as I had remembered it. The Alley was established during Covid times and offered a retreat to escape from the humdrum of the homestead. These days, its friendly vibe welcomes neighbors and visitors with a backyard setting strewn with twinkle lights and family-style tables. It's a causal scene and easy to soak in the live music, sunlight/moonlight, and neighborly banter. The layout resembles an alley with shops on either side, big open doors invite you to grab something to eat, sample a drink, or shop for handmade gifts. On one side, you've got craft brews and coffee roasters. On the other side, it's local wines and piping hot pizzas. Dogs are welcome all around. At the center of it all, there's live music on the weekends. Modeled after a Beer & Wine Garden concept, The Alley features Enegren Brewery (beer), Lucas Sellers (wine), California Coffee Republic (java), Fire & Vice (pizza), and The Craft House (non-alcoholic tchotchkes). As a self-proclaimed wino, I opted for a sampling of the Lucas Sellers Wines. Ashley, who was behind the bar and top of the pours, gave me good suggestions and offered anecdotes about each wine on tap. At the end of the night, my light pinot paired perfectly with the Mushroom Arugula pizza from Fire & Vice. And I felt right at home, surrounded by friends.
