There is a guy who noticed I didn't love the temp of the drink I had and before I could even articulate the thought and sentence he read my face and offered to make me another one that was hot and prepared the way I wanted it. This place is yummy. I'm glad it came to Thousand Oaks. I also love the way they really care about making sure you are happy with your coffee. However, my complaint is that it's never consistent. I will go in and order my go-to drink medium or lightly sweetened and it's never the same. Some days my lightly sweetened coffee will taste like it has the full sweetness to it and some days it's just right. I'm not sure if it depends on who is making it, I just wish it was consistent as I am not a sweet coffee lover. read more

We live close by and we were thrilled when TO got our own Philz! Until we weren't :( we have REALLY tried to repeatedly give this location a chance.... There is every excuse in the book from the constantly turning over staff regarding not having this or can't do that. Always order creamy at other locations and it is CREAMY not here. Can't be that person constantly taking it back and asking for "creamy". Last 3 Sundays we have stopped in there is NO pastry options, just an empty case! That was the final straw for us. First time we were told "yes the people that worked yesterday didn't turn the order In" the next time "not sure where the truck is" then this AM "the truck isn't coming today". The people ahead of us cancelled their drink order, since there was "nothing to eat". Unlike other locations we have visited this one always has 3-4 employees standing around and perhaps 1 or 2 customers, always empty basically. Really wanted to see this location thrive, but unfortunately it is so Mismanaged I fear it won't be around in a year, that is sad for the community, the employees, and the reputation of Philz. The other 4 locations and we have been to always deliver quality service, abundance of options to eat, and way busier. Good luck TO Philz today was the final strike for us. read more

I was coming here everyday until they hired a new employee letting him know I need OATMilk twice. Lied to me and gave me real frozen milk. He remade it twice until He figured out it was real milk NOT OATMilk . I got sick for 3 days straight from this coffee and he refused to give me a refund. Honestly, that was enough for me to not return. When you are NEW be honest say I'm sorry I can't make your drink that way I don't get sick! Hispanic young guy couldn't be honest and let me go. I went to Philz yesterday for the first time & ordered a hot Tesora. Sooo good! I ordered it medium sweet and extra creamy. The barista even had me try it before I left to make sure I like it. I went around 830am and there were a few people but only waited like 5 minutes. Prices are cheaper than Starbucks & the coffee is much better. I highly recommend you give it a try! Asked what brewing method they do, they said "espresso grind then pour over." Anyone who actually drinks coffee knows that espresso grind is too fine for pour over. Why? Because the powder will cook too quickly and burn. Coupled with the magma they call water. All i got was a $6 burnt coffee thats competitive with starbucks. Its not hard to make good coffee. Just the appropriate grind size and water temp. And considering the equipment they have! read more

Tried Philz finally after it being open for 6+ months. I am not rushing back. Definitely recommend trying it for yourself though as we all have different likes. But here goes mine: I got the Mocha Tesora and the potato, egg, cheese and bacon breakfast burrito. I ordered the drink "light" with almond milk, and it was still too sweet for me. It seemed a bit watered down, too. Not sure if the milk choice had anything to do with it or what, but I was definitely expecting more of a coffee and mocha flavor. The breakfast burrito was missing flavor or spice, something that would have made it more palatable. It was a fair price considering. Service was good; order was quickly ready. The lady even said she could make it sweeter if needed. There were a good amount of tables and everything was a light wood color; it was brighter than what used to be there, but overall, the ambiance was nice. Don't get me wrong.. I love the coffee chain and love the coffee. However, the customer service at this location is terrible. Constant attitude from the staff. Seems like they just want you out the door as fast as possible. I asked them if my coffee was ready because I had ordered it online, and one of the girls responded "you ordered it you have to wait" very hostile kinda like she was yelling at me. I asked for a straw and they just threw it on the counter. I'm very frustrated with this location. Needs better staff or at least one with a better attitude. When it happens constantly I know it's a problem. In my opinion go to a Starbucks. At least the attitude doesn't come with the coffee over there. read more

I was a little annoyed at first that it was so difficult to find a menu online, as I wanted to know the price of the coffee before I made the trip to the place. I've never been to Philz, and I don't typically like when businesses make it so difficult to know what their products cost. I'm much more inclined to try a new place that clearly has their menu posted. Anyways, I was able to see some photos of the menu that a user submitted on Yelp (although, once we came in person, the prices had raised since whatever was shown in those photos). I didn't find the staff to be very friendly. They answered our questions and prepared the coffee, but the experience was a bit awkward because I felt like I was intruding on their conversation and they didn't seem enthusiastic to help. The coffee I tried, not sure what it was called, was good, but it was not hot enough. The one that my boyfriend got was delicious- the iced mocha tresoro (could be saying the name wrong). Ambiance-wise, not much to report.. The music blasting was your typical pop music that makes it feel like a club instead of a cafe to relax at. Would try this place again, but an initial impression would be like a 3.8 out of 5. read more

Waited 12 minutes past my pick up time for food items, ordered 15 minutes in advance. I've had this happen multiple times when I have a 8a pickup time. They need to get their food bar in order, it is frequently ignored for long periods of time, and there is usually someone standing at the register doing nothing but talking to the person closest to them. Bad coffee, can't walk my dog and run in to get coffee here since they have a bogus no dog policy, well more than half of the population has a dog and grabs a coffee with their dog. I'm not going to toe my dog up outside just to order a mediocre coffee anyways. Losing a lot of customers due to this stupid rule. That doesn't mean people are going to sit inside with their dogs; you can't even go in with your dog and order a quick coffee and leave. We want Starbucks back. read more

Philz coffee is very good! I have been to another location before. This new location was busy when I decided to try it out. It is very clean and plenty of room to wait for your drink as it is being prepared. I asked them to adjust my drink to my liking and they gladly accommodated me.
