Finally we got a Philz Coffee nearby! We have been enjoying Philz coffee for awhile now, but their locations have been a bit far from us. We headed straight here for the next 3-days to get our coffee on. My go to drink is the Tesora Mocha with oatmilk and medium sugar, extra hot. If you want a tasty drink and love chocolate, this is for you. If you want something different, try their Iced Mint Mojito. It's a refreshing iced coffee with a hint of mint. Place is clean, service is pretty fast, and staff always friendly and helpful. When picking up your drink, you get to have a taste before leaving, so if there is something not right about your drink, they will make it right. You can also order ahead for pick up as well. Love Philz Coffee and my favorite part about them is at every other location when you order Creamy you really get CREAM! Unfortunately at this location cream basically doesn't exist. Huge bummer as this is the best part about Philz in my opinion. When you order creamy you should still have cream when you get half way through your coffee, here you take one sip and the cream is completely gone. I really wish this location was trained properly, and had more pride in their product. Very unfortunate. Service here is also mediocre in comparison to other locations. I grew up going to Philz in the Bay and I was so excited to see one in SoCal. I got my usual order of a Mint mojito and when I got my drink after waiting a while there wasn't any mint in the cup like there usually is. Once I took a sip it was just sugar milk and I didn't taste any mint (or coffee) at all. The vibes were off overall and the barista wasn't the friendliest. A good barometer is always a drip coffee not hidden by other "add ins". My medium roast had distinct notes of burnt, followed by secondary aftertaste notes of burnt. Second time that I've had this same experience. Ambiance was akin to an urgent care waiting room; albeit with four employees reluctantly helping customers. Their customer service is a little confusing. They seemed to recognize the person in front of me asking their day and if they were doing anything fun and spent a decent amount of time on that. Then when my drink was called another person was chatting with the person who was in front of me and then calls mine out just kind of flat. I went to college in the Bay Area where Philz originated. When Philz started expanding to Los Angeles and now Thousand Oaks I got so excited! My mom treated me to the wonderful Valentine's Day gift promotional (a cup of love shirt and a pound of beans) and I needed to return my beans for a different type/ ground. Finally!! I have been obsessed with Philz Coffee for years and would only get my fix when visiting friends in the Bay Area. I was so excited to see that a Philz opened in Thousand Oaks. I met a friend here to study together. We were lucky that she got there early and was able to get a table since there is limited seating inside. The tables are pretty small so working on anything that requires more than a laptop is a bit of a squeeze with two people. The service was great. All of the baristas were really friendly and were helpful with drink customizations. I got the Mint Mojito but made it keto-friendly by using their sugar free sweetener and heavy cream. While it wasn't as good as the normal Mint Mojito, it was still a delicious sugar free alternative. I recommend getting either the Mint Mojito or Iced Coffee Rose! Both are delicious. All my friends know I'm a fan of Philz--or have at least heard about their mint-infused coffees since we don't have any locations in Santa Barbara County. Well now we have a neighboring Ventura County Philz in Thousand Oaks about an hours drive from Santa Barbara. Woohoo! Hopefully by the time I post this review a location will open in Santa Barbara or Goleta (doubt in my fingers) :P. The trickiest part was being able to turn into the strip mall location coming from the 101 since there is a curb in the median. You need to make a U turn at the light to turn into the strip mall. Although I came in at 5:45 am, the staff was bright, cheery and friendly. Everything was clean and new. Bathroom is gender neutral. Instead of my classic mint mojito order, this time I went with a hot drink: Mocha Tesoro and added mint leaves, of course! This was a great touch for the Holiday besides their specials of Winter Bliss or Gratitude. I'll definitely become a regular every time I head south to LA. read more

The customer service here is on point. The place is a little busy because it's the only one in the area. I came in on a rainy day looking forward to my hot drink and as they were making my drink I saw ice. I looked at my order and I mistakenly ordered it wrong. I decided to take the loss and take it iced because it's good no matter what. I got to speaking with Kasha and Camille and they gave me a tip to order it hot since I'm commuting. Ambiance 5/5 This is a smaller Philz compared to the studio city location but still welcoming and cozy! Price 4.5/5 I paid about $6 for a medium iced mocha Tesora so it's definitely not cheap but at least at tastes great and I've always had a pleasant experience! With much anticipation, Philz Coffee replaced the old Starbucks just off the 101 on Moorpark Road. I did attempt to order through the app but I think they were too busy to accept it. So I patiently waited in the line of about 15 customers. Very interesting ordering process where each order has a dedicated barista. Also interesting to see no espresso machine (which was pleasantly nice bc it was noticeably quieter). Although it was very busy, I felt the line moved along well and the baristas were processing orders quickly. For the coffee itself, I really enjoyed my Philtered Soul Cold brew. It was smooth, bold and tasty. The kiddo enjoyed his hot cocoa as well. Enjoyed a flakey chocolate croissant as well. Overall Philz is a great alternative option that TO was in need of. This last Wednesday I thought to my self "Dang, how I wish we could have good coffee in TO, we only have a plethora of other coffee chains *cough cough*" Lo' and behold: Philz! They opened the following day! The Universe answered my prayers. This was my first time ever trying Philz but I have a lot of friends from SF and I know Philz is popular up there, so when I heard this location was coming I was ecstatic. Drink/Food: For my first ever drink I decided on the Tesora Latte. Very smooth and creamy but not too sweet which I appreciated. It tastes almost caramel-y, with hints of nut. Yum!! The food you guys, so bomb. I got an Ancho Chili burrito, it was decently sized, I believe it has eggs, cheese, and peppers, super yummy and savory, and they give you packets of hot sauce. To top it off, I treated myself with an old fashioned donut (not pictured), and it was big!!! Sweet but not to over bearing. They have a lot of other savory breakfast options and baked goods. Service: Even though when I went it was busy, all of the staff handled it with grace with great attitudes. You could tell all the staff are open and nice. William made my drink and was very polite! Daisy and Alli are also very sweet and gave me good drink recommendations for next time. The gentleman that took my order (didn't get his name, but he has tattoos, glasses etc) was super fun and patient with me as it was my first time. So 10/10 to everybody!!! Inside: it's quite spacious. They're I think about 5 tables with 2 seats each table, and then towards the door is more of a lounge area with couches. I went with my kiddo in his stroller and there was enough room. Decor was bright and modern, perfect morning vibe. With that being said ya'll, as an avid coffee drinker, ditch the other chains. Delicious and worth the hype!! Not sure if the barista serving me was the manager, but she was confident, charismatic and stylish and it was an absolute joy talking to her. She double downed on their #1 bestseller, an iced philtered soul, and it was for sure #1 for a very good reason. The hazelnut roast on that coffee was heaven sent - I sipped it straight; no cream, no sugar and everything about it was rich, creamy, sweet without any of the extra stuff. (Sunday 9/8/2024) I have never wanted to make a review so badly in my adult life. I have been a frequent Philz Coffee customer at the Calabasas location and absolutely love it there. Was in the TO area and decided to try this one out with some friends to celebrate my birthday. The cashier was delightful and patience with us. As we were waiting for our drinks, we were given so much attitude and rudeness from the other 3 baristas that were working. My friend kindly asked one of the baristas to repeat the name of the drink since she did not hear well. The barista proceeded to show my friend the sticker with the name on it, practically rolling her eyes at her. Then that same barista was told by my friend that they made his drink wrong. He politely explained he wanted it iced and not hot and reassured her he said iced. The barista looked at him and said "Well it says hot here?" ADDITIONALLY, it was my turn to pick up my drink. I stood in front of the barista as she plopped my iced drink on the counter causing spillage (which my other friends drinks also had). I asked her if she had a napkin for ME to clean up the mess. She said she'll handle it. Also my friends weren't given lids for their drinks and had to, once again, kindly ask for something from these baristas and were met with a stank face and rude attitude, I am not sure what kind of bad day all 3 of those women were having, but in no way should us customers feel so degraded and shocked by how rude and unkind these women were being. I have already emailed corporate because I was extremely shocked by all that happened in just one visit. Safe to say I will never be back. And I highly recommend you invest in some quality assurance and customer service training for your baristas. It'll behoove you as a company. Best of luck. read more

I just went to Philz for the first time, and it was a great experience. I got the limited time Oatmeal Cookie Cold Brew and my boyfriend got the Honey Haze (both large). We shared and they were both really good (but I did like the Honey Haze just a schmidge more). They were both sweet without feeling like you were drinking straight sugar. The coffees also had very distinct, memorable flavors. We stayed inside for a bit to drink our coffee and it was very nice. It could get pretty busy, but despite that had a very calming energy with the chill workers and nice calming music. It was a nice contrast to other coffee shops where it can sometimes feel like you're surrounded by chaos, beeping, and loud music. I'm excited to come back again :) read more
