I was in need for a dose of caffeine so I decided to come here because of the high reviews and after having it for myself, I can definitely understand all the hype. The menu here is pretty expansive and has various different teas and coffees with different unique flavors. I ordered a regular Vietnamese iced coffee Phin style and WOW this was so delicious while also being decently strong. My husband and I shared one drink but after tasting it, we started to debate as to whether we should get another because of how much we liked it. The prices here are also super fair given the quality of the drinks. The store itself is super aesthetic and has a modern vibe while also having touches of Vietnamese culture, which I really liked. The store is pretty big with plenty of seating, however, it was still pretty crowded despite this when I came. The employees here are friendly and the service is surprisingly fast compared to other coffee shops. Finding parking here is not an issue as there is a parking lot in the back. read more

Wow! I was not expecting to love this coffee shop as much as I did! Don't be intimidated by the long line, it goes quick. As you enter the line is to the left to order, with the menu on the wall. With it being my first time, I looked in Yelp and the barista to help order. I decided on a Coconut Coffee and a Vietnamese iced coffee "Phin" style. Just delicious! Great little coffee shop right off of Old Town Garden Grove. The coffee is strong (Vietnamese Phin Style), fragrant (Rose) and memorable (hot pumpkin spice latte- seasonal only). And if you're feeling adventurous, can't ever go wrong with the coconut frappe or peanut butter coffee. Both with a kick of flavor. The only reason I didn't give it 5/5 is the furniture/decor could use a little upgrading. Sofa is on a brick (leg fell off) and the tables were so wobbly our coffees almost fell off the table. Kiddo ordered a Dutch Mocha and I ordered a Banana Coffee. I guess we seemed a bit undecided, so our barista asked if we wanted to sample the drinks first. I'm not much of a coffee drinker so one of the great things about Phin Smith for me is that their specialty extends beyond coffee and to their teas too. The way ordering works here, you order your drink with the next available barista, pay at the counter, then wait for your name to be called. It's a little out of order from most places but nothing too confusing. My go-to drink for the longest time was their Green Thai Tea, but I was feeling "adventurous" one morning and decided to give the Blueberry Matcha a try. The coconut coffee was my favorite with the banana coffee coming in close second. I was in town for five days and every day I came here and got a coconut coffee. It was my first time coming here so I got a ca phe sua da. I was impressed with how it was smooth and easy to drink right off the bat, I usually have to wait for my ca phe sua da to dilute a bit. It was sweet, not too strong, and refreshing. I HIGHLY recommend picking up some of their ground coffee. I got the District 1 blend. They also have a dark roast but I'm not the biggest fan of dark roast. The District 1 blend is well-rounded and aromatic, there aren't any burnt smells or flavors at all. I usually like Phin Smith but they messed up my order big time this time and a time before. I got to the counter and ordered 2 Cafe Muoi, 1 Blueberry Matcha, and 1 Coconut Coffee. The barista repeated "Cafe Muoi" back to me to confirm, so I confirmed that yes I wanted Cafe Muoi. When she asked if I wanted black coffee or a Vietnamese coffee base, I said Vietnamese coffee. I got my drinks from her at the counter and paid. When got home to my family to give them their drinks, they made the wrong drinks!! Instead of Cafe Muoi I got 2 egg/brulee coffees and they had NO VIETNAMESE COFFEE BASE! It tasted really bad. Awful. On our way back to OC yesterday morning my boyfriend asked if I wanted a drink, I told him I wanted Starbucks, but he said he wanted me to try his favorite coffee spot. While driving there, he kept saying how amazing this place was and that it was the best and his friend from Vegas goes here every day whenever he visits. Of course, I was expecting this place to be great! When we got there, the line was pretty long and out the door. Inside, it was pretty busy and no seats were available. We waited a little under 10 minutes to order. The customer service we got from the barista was okay, could be better. My boyfriend told me to get a large drink because it was only $.50 more. I ordered the Lavender Latte. We go and pay at the cashier and ask for a butter croissant, but they were out. I decided to just stick to my drink. We waited for our drinks, maybe five minutes or so and I was surprised at how small the "large" was. It is NOT a large, it is a medium-sized cup. I asked my boyfriend if this was large and he said yes. He said the medium was a bit smaller than the one we got. When I finally tried my drink....I was so disappointed. It was not good. I could not drink it and it made me nauseous. Came here on Saturday around noon time. There's a parking lot located behind the store but it was super packed. I don't know if it's always pack on the weekend but there was a farmer's market going on so maybe that's why. We were lucky to find parking. The line is also pretty long (goes out the door) but it moves pretty fast. We started outside and had our drink about 15-20min. There's a lot of barista working and you just wait for one of them to call you over. Once you order, you head to the cashier to pay while waiting for your drink to be made. The place is nice and has a lot of seats and table. There is WiFi posted on the wall so you can definitely study here. When we went though it was pretty packed. I ordered the Taro Affogato and it was so good! It had coffee, vanilla ice cream, and taro. When mixed together it taste so delicious. I am not much of a coffee person but you can hardly taste the coffee. It was $5.75 for the large and I would definitely rate it 10/10. My only gripe is the the large is pretty small :( . One of my top coffee shops in OC for sure!! It's often packed so studying here is quite hit or miss because when its packed, it's packed to the max (and they only have like 2-3 outlets from what I know). Other than that, they have the best coffee and service by a landslide. I don't think I've ever come across a bad drink from here, and their service is so good. The workers are very accommodating and helpful when you want to try a new drink, offering to make you a new one if you happen to not like it, however that probably isn't necessary since all their drinks are yummy! If there's one coffee shop you should check out in OC, it is definitely this place for the ambience, location, service, and amazing delicious coffee / drinks. read more
