I've been here a couple of times post workout with my classmates. They are open late which is a thumbs up and they can crank out the food usually pretty quickly. Our 10+ people all got their food within 15 minutes of ordering! There's usually only two to three people working the front of house so that def get things done. In terms of the food itself, I found it a bit lacking. The pho had flavor but not as much as I would had liked. I've gone to other places where I could the aroma and taste were on another level. The other dishes also fell in line in a similar fashion. I did enjoy the crispy spring rolls as well as the fresh raw spring rolls but those shouldn't be the stars when your restaurant name has "Pho" in the title. After finding the best Pho place in the South Bay trying something new gets more difficult each time as disappointment sets in. With an open mind (and stomach), I tried this place with a friend. The place wasn't fully occupied even though it was in the middle of lunch. We ordered two bowls of pho (mine was just rare steak), the fresh spring rolls and the fried chicken wings (based on the reviews of others). Bottom line, the pho was nothing new or exciting. Flavors were good but not extraordinary. The amount of meat seemed a little lacking compared with the amount of noodles. The spring rolls were fresh tasting and good. The fried chicken wings were a bit of a disappointment because after a few minutes on the table they were lukewarm. The sweet sauce on the wings did not make it pop. Service was fast and professional and our server came back a couple of time to check on us. I give it 3.5 stars if Yelp would let me do it but it decided to round it up. read more

Food: 3.5 Cleanliness: 5 The pho is OK but nothing to rave about. The broth is on the lighter side (not a heavy beefy flavor) and the meats are very average. The noodles are good. The Bun Bo Hue is spicy and tasty but the noodles are really mushy. The Bun is OK but their fish sauce tastes weak once mixed with the noodles. The grilled shrimp and egg rolls are good. The grilled pork needs to be charred a bit to get better flavor. I always ask for "no carrots" but yet I always get carrots. The egg cake and shrimp cake were both disappointing. The shrimp cake is a deep fried roll that tasted greasy. The redeeming dish is the chicken wings. Man, these are good. They are the Asian salt & pepper style that I love. What I like is the wings they use are smaller so it gets crispy. Nice! The restaurant is one of the cleaner pho places you'll find. I go here because it is close to a place I need to visit but if it wasn't for that reason, I wouldn't go back since there are many of pho places in the area that make a better broth and better Bun. read more

My fave place to get pho FAST. The servers here are the nicest servers I have ever met, and that's saying a lot since you generally don't need much customer service for pho restaurants. They beat all other pho places and more when it comes to customer service. 5 stars because I really would like to support them, they have incredible customer service, and their food is GOOD. Pho#1 wasn't #1 for me.. I feel like I've been here before and it was okay but my most recent experience was very meh. Two friends and I ordered our pho. Two times the servers tried to give us the wrong order. Finally we got our orders, except one of my friends got the wrong order, again. He started eating it because he didn't know until he had a bite that all the protein options he ordered wasn't there. When we told the servers, they took it away and brought back the correct order. But on top of that I just didn't really enjoy the taste of the broth.. Can't really pinpoint what about it but it didn't satisfy my pho cravings. The broth was a little too oily. WINTER IS COMING!! but that ain't why we wanted pho... wife got home late from an event, both of us were hungry, it was 10pm and she was craving noodles. Pho #1 was open until 11 so this was perfect. the spring rolls were some of the best i've personally ever had and i'd like to think i've had my fair share. the wrap was thin and the greens tasted fresh. even better there were more noodles than sprouts and they added mint!! MINT!! everything was working here. 5/5 the peanut sauce was a little meh to me. this was more sweet and sourish it seemed. a different take on the traditional dipping sauce and one i wasn't too fond of. still, it didn't ruin the spring rolls themselves so i was able to enjoy em anyway. my wife on the other hand loved the sauce. to each his own i suppose. but for me the peanut sauce was just ok. 3/5 egg rolls were just aight. nothing blew me away here and nothing warranted a negative response so i guess that's A-OK? 3/5 as for my main i ordered the #56 com bi, cha, tau hu ky (shredded pork skin, egg cake, shrimp cake). this was real good. everything but the shrimp cake i thoroughly enjoyed. problem with the shrimp cake was it was fried for too long. this made it too crispy which made it juuuuust a little off-putting. i'm sure if they didn't fry it for so long it would of been better. nonetheless, the plate as a whole was great and i would definitely get again. the egg cake was hella good and the star of the trio. next time i might ask to sub the shrimp cake with another egg cake. mmmmmm. 4/5 saw they were offering an avocado smoothie so i grabbed one to go. this was freakin bomb. blended well and not overly sweet this drink kept me chasing the sweetness it lacked so i couldn't stop drinking it. the sweetness is just a tease and stays that way all throughout the drink. it sounds like a bad thing, but trust me in that because of this it was satisfying in every way. 5/5 P1 won me over and i'll definitely be back. oh and as a bonus the two guys working that night were great. it's not often you go to a viet spot and your glass of water is always full without you having to ask for a refill. it's also rare to have someone checking up on you every 5-10 min. great service P1!! keep it up!! read more

I came here after a dr visit on 5/16/19 and order their pho during the afternoon. I noticed it was unusually SALTY and made a comment to the lady working there and agreed I couldn't eat the medium-sized bowl and she acknowledged it was Okay to walk away and not have to pay. As I was leaving the restaurant an aggressive Vietnamese man who works in the back (has a bald crew cut) came rushing out with a temper tantrum cursing directly at me. By that time, I was already getting into my car. To the owner - please evaluate your employee and teach him what customer service and professionalism should be like. You don't act like an animal cursing and yelling at your customer. Responding to Phoung I believe I mentioned this in my post but happy to reiterate once again. Feedback was given to the lady and SHE decided not to charge me. However, your male Vietnamese staff came charging and cursing at me while I exit the restaurant was one of the worst experience anyone could have. Please do not confuse me of not paying, it's only been my 2nd time and this time is going to be the LAST I would ever step into a disrespectful place to customer. Inexpensive, clean, friendly smiles, and yummy Vietnamese food! Soups are great, but my fave is the egg roll grilled pork combo vermicelli with that oh so sweet and flavorful fish sauce!!! Ask for extra peanuts for some added crunch, love it! What I like about this place is that it is in a strip mall that's not very busy on weeknights, so parking is easy. Ample room for groups! So, I will preface this review by saying that I have been much more reserved in doling out 5 star reviews as of late. However, this place gets the full 5 since they hit all of Leilani's 5 senses: Cost, Cleanliness, Craving, Customer Service and Consistency. Cost: Very reasonable. Most times I can't finish the regular sized bowl because it's packed with meat and noodles. Very affordable and you really do get the bang for your buck. Cleanliness: I generally consider a restaurants cleanliness based on the cleanliness of their bathroom and how they wipe down tables. The bathroom here is simply designed, but always clean and in working order. It's clear someone is paying attention to frequent check ins/cleaning! Craving: Sometimes I'll be at home and really crave their pho. Fortunately for me, I live 5 minutes away. I also work about 5 minutes away too, so it always works out no matter where I am. Customer Service: Always great service. Sometimes hard to put in to-go orders, but my to-go order has never been wrong once I've picked it up. Consistency: Food is always great and always comes out exactly as expected. Firstly, I've been coming here for 3 maybe even 4 years now. Their pho was really good at first, but something's changed and can you believe it...it's even BETTER now. I swear one day I realized there was a change and I came back 4 days in a row. The owners are friendly and kind people. I once saw another customer getting loud and disgruntled; he walked out without paying. So rude and what a total dick move. It was such a disappointing thing to witness because I have eaten at this establishment for so long and I have 100% confidence that if you were displeased with anything, they would definitely take care of you. I'm really surprised that Pho #1 isn't more highly rated! Binky found this place a few weeks back and HYPED THE HELL out of the food UNTIL it became absolutely mandatory for us to go. We drove 45 minutes (in traffic) to get here AND we got lost two (or three) times before Binky remembered the location SO I was H A N G R Y by the time we finally entered Pho #1's doors. I wanted to order everything but Binky and I ended up ordering the following three dishes (LARGE PORTIONS): 1. Spring Rolls -- FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. These took FOREVER to come out (served at end of meal, rather than beginning) but I could tell that A LOT of effort had gone into these little spring rolls. The rolls were obviously made with great care -- the wrapping was tight, the proportions were even, ingredients were fresh, and presentation was beautiful. The taste of cilantro was VERY strong (even for me, and I usually LOVE cilantro) 2. Pho (not sure which one Binky ordered...) -- O M G the broth was INCREDIBLE. Meat was medium rare to rarish, LOTS of veggies, noodles were chewy perfection -- honestly, the best bowl of pho I've ever had (but i don't LOVEEEEE pho like most other Asians do........). 3. Vermicelli with pork/shrimp -- MY FAVORITE. Pho #1 PUTS EFFORT into their dishes. This dish (like the others) was presented BEAUTIFULLY, with all the little ingredients placed separately on top of the noodles. I LOVED their pickles veggies (wish they had put a tiny more on). The meat was tender/sweet and the shrimp (two LARGE pieces) was grilled perfectly. MUST ORDER. Overall, PHO #1 is HIGHLY underrated for the quality of food/price -- EVERY DISH Binky and I ordered was made with TENDER LOVE AND CARE. For Pho #1, since the first time we tried, we thought for the portion, it's costlier than other Pho places for the amount of food they serve. We are a fan of Pho #1. The food is good but after today's takeout for lunch, we won't be coming back until Covid19 is behind us. When I picked up my order for 4 around noon today, the workers there were not wearing masks. The person who gave me my order was wearing a face shield but no mask. I peaked in the kitchen and saw people in the kitchen not wearing masks. We were horrified. We came home and heated up everything in the microwave and threw away the raw veggies. read more

I ordered two soups 1 for my daughter and 1 for my dad. When the server brought the soup to the table we noticed that the soup was not what my daughter wanted. We didn't touch the food and immediately brought it up to the servers attention. The server mentioned it was fine and he said he was going to cancel the order then brought a different soup when we paid and they charged us for the soup we rejected. They had thrown it away but still charged us. It's not about the money it's about customer service. I will not eat at this place again To the owner's reply "food cost" Yes! Of course. Lack of intelligence on your part! why would I not want my soup and get charge for it? My point is your server told me it was fine and said "I will cancel" your reply is a reflection of your business. I have no problem paying for the $12 soup lady! Good pho in this part of town isn't easy to come by, but Pho #1 has done it! The place itself is nice, nothing too fancy, just simple white wooden tables and a smattering of colorful plastic chairs. Most importantly, it was super clean and bright. Couldn't make up my mind on what to chow on, so I ordered both the Pho Ga as well as the Vermicelli with Grilled Pork, plus a few egg rolls - and yes, I gloriously double fisted both dishes. Happy to say, both were pretty good! The Pho Ga came in a HUGE bowl, and I even ordered the regular out of the 2 sizes they offered. The noodles were perfectly springy and the meat was chicken bewbs. Broth was deliciously clear though a tad on the salty side...but I didn't mind that. The Vermicelli with Grilled Pork, plus egg rolls, were also delicious; loads of fresh vegetables and they were generous with the meat! The prices here are super affordable, and since portions are very economical, this is one of those places you can eat and leave completely satisfied without breaking the bank. Pretty good! I had #4 rare beef and flank steak. Regular is $8 and large is $9- so I ordered a large. The broth was flavorful. The meat was great. The noodles were great. I thought about getting a Thai tea or Thai coffee. I was able to sample them but decided it was too late to be that hyper ;) I wish I tried the egg rolls or spring rolls. I will next time! read more

I'll keep it straight to the point: - Incredibly friendly, sweet and polite service. Our hostess and cashier (Karen) greeted our table with a warm happy smile and checked in on us (myself, wife and two toddlers) throughout our meal. Our waiters were smiling every time with eye contact and just warm in general. - Food was delicious. We had their pho and the boys chowed down everything (and they are picky eaters). - They had a section dedicated for families so it was very kid friendly as well. My former business associate and I have been holding 'What is that Pho' strategy meetings. The ratings on Yelp really help in finding new and highly rated places to eat lunch, and Pho #1 did not disappoint! The restaurant is in the very back of a long shopping center that faces El Camino and Remington. You have to look for the Comics shop at the very north end and if you look to the right you will see Pho #1. The chairs are bright colors and the layout of the restaurant is inviting when you walk in. As usual we got there early and had our pick of places to sit. Our initial server was an older lady who appeared to be surprised we knew what we wanted right away. Out came a plate of complementary chicken wings to our table. After having a horrible experience with Foster Farms I did not partake, but my associate did and liked what he ate. In spite of the single serve drip coffee maker shown on the menu, it appeared the Café Su Da was a premix as it came out in the glasses right away. I really would prefer to make my own at the table and showing something on the menu that you really do not get is a misrepresentation of what experience the customer expects. So redo the menu's or state you do not provide this service! One star off for that. The pho was good and they complied with our request for TWO plates (one each) of bean sprouts, Thai basil, sliced jalapeno peppers and lemon slices. The place filled up for lunch on a Tuesday. Came in randomly for a banh mi and iced coffee. Got both, which were tasty, but the chicken wings caught my attention while examining the menu. Oh my God, as soon as they were placed in front of me (In an incredibly timely matter might I add) the aroma of the sauce was alluring. The fish sauce based sauce, it was heavenly. If you've never tried that type oif sauce, don't be frightened, it's delightful. It took me back to my visit at Pok Pok in Portland, years ago. I also ordered a side of spring rolls, which came with peanut dipping sauce. I rate these two items 5/5. My second visit: I ordered shrimp and pork over rice, and a strawberry smoothie. The shrimp was properly seasoned, but overall forgettable. The pork... ...was weird to say the least. The pork was served in four thin slices that were somewhat large and extremely hard to pick up with chopsticks. Due to the length and thinness of the meat, I was forced to nibble around the edges. Was I supposed to ask for a fork and knife? Should they have brought me a fork and knife? Who knows. Anyway, the strawberry smoothie literally saved the day. I rate the shrimp over rice 3/5, and the strawberry smoothie 5/5. Just came here for lunch. Finally another new pho place in Sunnyvale and its a nice location off El Camino. I believe the restaurant used to be occupied by a bbq joint next to Bon Chon Chicken. Now its a pretty large and clean Vietnamese restaurant. First off, since the place is new the inside is clean! The service is super friendly as well. They first started off by letting us taste some of their fish sauce deep fried chicken wings. A hint of sweetness and then some saltiness from the fish sauce, it was a great balance of flavors and deliciously fried :) My coworker and I both ordered #1 large which came with your usual combination pho with oxtail. I have to say the broth is a lighter tasting broth which wasnt all oily like some places. I didnt think there was MSG in the broth because the food didnt leave me all bloated and drowsy like some pho places. I would definitely come back and try the other dishes, so far its a 4 in my books. Hopefully I'll up it to a 5 star after I try some more dishes! read more

While the line for fried chicken next door is crazy on a Friday, this place is pretty empty for a late lunch. Maybe cause it's too new? Well ill let you in on something. The wings maybe only one flavor but theyre way better here. Olus no line! Oh and they have a series of Vietnamese entrees including the namesake Pho. Combo 1 has all the meats; brisket, flank, eye of round, tripe, meatballs...the broth is very clear so they do a great job of skimming. My only gripe is it could use just a tad more salinity but here are no salt shakers around. Weird cause that would easily solve the problem. We've been to this place dozens of times and always with stellar food and service. The wait staff is so prompt, accommodating, and attentive. Seating is comfortable and spacious for both small and large parties. Acoustics are a little rough when a loud group is dining in, but the food is worth any minor inconvenience. We've tried half the menu but keep coming back to almost anything labeled "Grilled Pork." Try the Grilled Pork Bahn Mí, Grilled Pork Vermicelli Bowl, Grilled Pork Fresh Green Rolls... all amazing. Thai tea is also refreshing, flavorful, and beautiful. Prices are also exceedingly reasonable for the amount of food you get.
