A server named Shawn was very helpful. I went into the store for the first time and he recommended me some great dishes. Very warm and helpful. The food is also very good, as the broth was deep in flavor and the salt ratio was perfect. The one thing I really like about this restaurant is that they have chili oil. Other places don't have chili oil and the oil really opens up the flavor and adds a good amount of spice. In addition, the spring rolls and the egg rolls rocked my world! The egg rolls were perfectly crisp and the fish sauce was delicious. In addition, the spring roll peanut sauce was so good. I recommend this place and I will be coming back more often. I been passing by this place couple of times and I always wanted to try that but unfortunately when I wanted to that usually close. So finally this time it was open and I'm glad I walked in and gave it a try. The food was really flavor full and good which was surprising. I have got pho at Pho 22 twice now and I must say it's going to be one of my go-to spots. Unfortunately, my local spot does not have tendon available and appreciate that this establishment does. The first time I got pho here it was via Doordash order and I was very hooked on it since it satisfied my craving for soup and my hunger for tendon. Both times I got the pho combo which has everything you can ask for to complete a pho soup. I will continuously get this as it is my favorite and a benchmark when I compare Pho places. My second time I went in for pick-up and I must say the family-owned restaurant was very kind and accommodating to my requests. Picking up was a breeze and the cozy small place definitely is a location I hope to eat in one of these days. read more

I asked for some hoison sauce to go and they said it's not included with the fried rice and spring rolls. I've been a regular for a while and this just ruined it completely. Worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. The waitress was extremely rude and the food gave my friend food poisoning. The waitress refused to give us takeout boxes and started pretending she didn't speak English when she demanded us to leave tips. Came here for some pho and dumplings on a nice rainy day. Figured I'd try them out since my favorite pho spot was closed and they were nearby. The pho was iffy not the best I have had; it was pretty much bland and the meat had a bit of a strange taste. The fried pork dumplings were pretty good which is why I gave them 3 stars. The service was also good (I had placed a pick up order so cashier was very nice and asked if I needed sauces or utensils etc). Not sure if I'd come back for the pho itself but maybe just pick up an order of the dumplings. read more

We've tried many Vietnamese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley so my standard of Vietnamese food is kind of high. The owner and workers are not Vietnamese (hence the name Vietnamese fusion). Surprisingly, the pho base flavor in their soup was pretty spot on -- but not too oily and salty like most authentic Vietnamese places-- so we were able to finish the soup base without drinking gallons of water. We prefer the bland flavor. They were also super generous with their sides (bean sprouts, cilantro, mint and basil leaves) and would graciously give you more upon request. The place is known for their fried rice, and that too, was good. The portion was a bit smaller than I anticipated but it came with raw vegetables on the side. Great for us since we preferred some raw vegetables to go with our meal. Great location. Great service. Fair portion and flavor. Reasonable price. Great fallback place for the locals. a Pho 22 is a long narrow "shot gun" eatery in the heart of the pleasant "village" of Montrose. Because it is so narrow, there is only very limited outdoor seating, but the inside can handle a fairly large group with no problem. I went in at the start of lunch hour at 11:30am so there was no hassle in finding a table & service was quick & friendly. By the time I left, a good number of people came flowing in from nearby offices & businesses. Because the clientele as well as the owners are not Vietnamese, the menu doesn't have the usual familiar sounding Vietnamese names.....Cha Gio, Com, Bi Cuon, Goi Cuon, etc. Instead the names of the dishes are English comprehensible like "rice rolls", vermicelli, etc. The other inscriptions in the menu are in Hangul which is a Korean alphabetic script. As the restaurant logo of Pho 22 states, "Fusion Vietnamese." I ordered ice tea which came with a small pitcher of viscous sugar liquid so that the sugar would dissolve completely in the cold ice tea unlike granulated sugar which collects at the bottom of the glass and just sits there. Nice thoughtful touch. Got what in a Vietnamese restaurant would be written as Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio which is boiled rice based "vermicelli", grilled pork, fried egg roll with many kinds of Vietnamese herbs such as Rau Ram, Vietnamese Basil which is distinctive in having a green top but purplish red underside, spear mint, bean sprouts, some pickled Japanese Daikon radish/shredded carrots, raw cucumber slices. The Vermicelli with Pork at Pho 22 had most of the above, but had the addition of crushed roasted peanuts that added a meaty, nuttiness, but lacked some of the fresh herbs such as Rau Ram, & the distinctive Vietnamese Basil. Of course the obligatory Nuoc Cham or sweetened fish sauce in a small "tea cup" was provided to add Umami saltiness to the entire bowl. The Bun or "vermicelli" was cooked very al dente which is unusual in Vietnamese restaurants that boils its Bun usually to a firm softness. The grilled pork had more of an underlying affinity to a Korean Daejigogi with a sweet soy sauce marinade than a more Nuoc Mam (fish sauce) infused flavour profile for a more Vietnamese style. The Cha Gio wrapper was made from thin wheat which is more prevalent in Northeast Asia/Korea & not rice "paper" as in most Vietnamese eateries. At least for the Vermicelli with Pork at Pho 22, the fusion implied seems to be between Vietnamese cuisine with touches of Korean. Los Angeles is amazing in that there are so many different world cuisines that they at times blend and fuse with interesting results. Pho 22 is a good place for a light lunch that is easily digestible, light, and not heavy on the stomach. It's a good way to go back to work, and not have to fight against the 2 o'clock slump because what we had eaten before for lunch was a brick of a burrito or chicken fried steak. 3+ Yelp stars for a carefree lunch. PS Hard surfaces everywhere so the the more the people, the louder it gets especially if filled with people who just LOVE to hear their own "sweet" voices. read more

You don't come to this place expecting amazing pho. Most people come here because there aren't any good pho options in this area. You know how you have one of those days where you really NEED pho so you end up settling with nearest one you can find? Well this place is exactly like that place you end up going just because you don't want to go too far to get good pho. In desperate times, this place will get the job done. But if you have the time and capacity to drive and get good pho, I wouldn't recommend here. read more

Pho is not impressive. Soup base is sour, very little meat and you have to ask for basil before they give you. Two persons working but does not serve guest well, only stay in a corner with their heads down and on their phones. Does not refill water when customer finish the cup. We've been coming here a lot and this is our favorite pho place. we maybe come once a week or every other week that's how much we love it here. However, this time we had a horrible server named Connie who was disgustingly rude. When we walked in she rolled her eyes and told us to sit at a table. She then took our orders and said nothing and walked away. Then she comes up to the table and asks me "are you mad at me cause you keep looking at me" as my boyfriend and I replied what are you talking about we are watching the basketball game on our phone. She then proceeds to give me an ugly death stare every time she walked by me. Connie is the worst server here. she has short hair and is the rudest one here. Everyone else is very kind. My husband had a $5.50 bahn mi which was mediocre - a ton of cilantro and old-tasting bread. His pho ga was ok. Upside: they do have a kids menu which is perfectly portioned for little ones. Went here with some friends and I wasn't disappointed! My dish was very tasty and the perfect size. I got the tofu fried rice, but completely forgot that it contains eggs (I'm vegan), and when I brought this up to our waitress she was very nice about my sensitivity! Good lord. No. I know everyone has their own tastes and what not, but this place.. You can't have tried legit Pho if you honestly like this place. This restaurant has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The food sucks, the workers are cold and stiff, and the Pho isn't even cheap. There's no reason to come here unless you're so lazy to go anywhere else better that you're okay with eating here. The broth is just dead. It's a lifeless husk of a bowl. It has no soul as dictated by whoever gave the green light on the recipe. This place is the perfect example on why "Korean Fusion" or whatever Pho restaurants should have never been invented. It's just a pathetic imitation on Pho. This was the first Pho restaurant that I've ever tried and I actually thought it was okay until I tried better and better places until I finally realized this place was a dumpster in disguise. Please, if you actually enjoy this place do yourself a favor and at least venture out and try some other Pho restaurants. You'll be glad you did. Not sure why their reviews are low. This is a perfect local Pho spot. It definitely smells like homemade Pho. Lots of onions. The food is great for a local place. Taste good for the craving. Their Togo ordering is easy and fast. I like eating there too but when there isn't too many people. Gets kinda sweaty in there. Overall good food. Good service. Great for convenience. I'm surprised by the low ratings on Yelp. Came in on a Wednesday afternoon around 3 pm. Restaurant had 3-4 families inside. Greeted and served by Kimberly, who was very nice. I tried the Vietnamese coffee and meatball pho. Both were great and brought out quickly, although the pho broth could have been a little hotter. No shortage of jalapeños, sprouts and basil on the side. Lots of tableside sauces to choose from. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area. read more

Came here on a whim because I've had Pho Season & Pho Pho one too many times. But sadly, 'twas a mistake. Soup is super bland compared to both of the above two mentioned Pho restaurants. Definitely watered down. The meat quality was also disappointing, not tender at all. Way too much noodles - noodle to meat ratio is like 5:1. Egg rolls were the best of the night. I actually enjoyed them! Plenty of veggies/ingredients, tasted juicy and perfectly crunchy outside. If i ever came back, it would be to order the egg rolls, perhaps for lunch... Just go to Pho Season, it's a way better choice and less than 10 minutes away! read more
