Our family loves coming to Pho 4 U! The food is excellent, and the service is extra friendly. We love the Pho, the cold noodle salad, and the wide selection of appetizers to try. My 4yo son can sometimes be a picky eater, but he loves the Pho and he has so much fun eating from his own 'Big Kid Bowl' and learning to use chopsticks for the noodles. The owner is always extra friendly to him and my son is always asking if we can go to visit. This is definitely one of our favorite regular places for family dinner! read more

I've been here before and greatly enjoyed their combo meal options. When they first opened you could choose from appetizers (A), entrees (B) and drinks (C). They had the A+B = $ option and the A+B+C = $ which was nice because you really got to experience all that the restaurant had to offer. I always felt like it amplified my experience as opposed to taking away. I came in a few days ago with a friend and granted, it had been a month or two since I had been in for some delicious pho and we thought that they'd still have that combo deal. Nope. Appetizers were almost $5, entrees were closer to $8 and drinks were $4-5. Don't get me wrong, these prices are very reasonable considering the quality that you receive, but I missed the combo option as it felt like a great discount. The pho is made at the restaurant. If you catch a peek behind the curtains you can see people working their magic. The noodles are pretty good and the broth standing alone without any add-ins is yummy enough on it's own. I've never been a fan of the way they serve their soy sauce or hot sauce (it comes in like old-school squeezable ketchup containers). The soy sauce kind of has a gel-y consistency that I'm a bit put off by. I tried the beef balls this time and wasn't too impressed with their texture. It was very gummy almost which is unusual for beef ball pho. The inside is small, but it's got a great home-y feel and even when business is poppin' the host/server goes above and beyond to not make you feel forgotten. I find him to be quite attentive and kind. He works very well under pressure and with how popular this place is it's a perk that he can remain calm under it all. We're locals and we have eaten at this restaurant MANY times since they opened. Today we placed a large order to go and I called early to order since there was an event downtown; they were so helpful and accommodating with the pick-up. We have always appreciated the attention and care given to the take-out orders and this was no exception. Our extended family was very impressed with the presentation and the way everyone could customize their pho. It was also their best-tasting pho to date. It was just outstanding - tender and delicious steak and chicken, fresh herbs and sprouts, and amazing sauces to round out the flavors in the broth. Wow!! This place did not disappoint at all!!! Very yummy. This is exactly what the Central Coast needed. Only down side is the limited menu but I will take what they offer, especially in this location. I usually order seafood pho and fresh spring rolls, which they don't offer, but the combination soup (beef balls, brisket, and steak) was FIRE! This place is also very new so maybe down the road they will expand their menu. Also, if you're a pho "expert" this place might disappoint you. They only offer ORGANIC rice noodles, which I prefer. My wife and i came here almost on a weekly basis when they first opened and it was pretty good and i thought the combos were pretty fairly priced. However, they revamped their menu and now there are no combos and they have raised the price on everything including appetizers, main pho meal and drinks. Prices are way too expensive for mediocre pho. If you want better pho and can make the drive, go to lotus in downtown SLO. We won't be coming back unless the prices are reduced or the quality is better. read more

*disclaimer: Asian person with high standards for Asian food reviewing* lol I was so excited when I found out a pho place opened in Atascadero! I went to check it out with not very high expectations but I was hopeful that it would fill the void in my stomach from the lack of good Asian food in the SLO area. I ordered a steak pho and it looked sooo good when it arrived but when I eagerly took the first sip of the broth, I was severely disappointed. There was not a lot of flavor in the soup and the noodles seemed over cooked because it was so soft and kept falling apart. Luckily, I ordered the egg rolls and that was actually not bad so it filled me up well. I also ordered the matcha strawberry "frappe" (which isn't a blended drink btw and an attempt to match Boba Guys' matcha strawberry milk tea) and thai iced tea. I got it with easy ice because everyone's cups seemed to be filled with too much ice. I ended up getting a cup that wasn't filled to the top and when I asked about it, they said I had to pay extra if I wanted more. SMH! The drinks were just okay too. I was here at a decent time where it wasn't too busy but service seemed to be slow still. I was only given two pieces of napkins and it took so long for me to be able to ask someone to give me more. I don't think I would come here again no matter how much I crave pho. The experience just wasn't worth it especially because the pho isn't even really "okay." a little disappointed but not surprised bc I understand that there aren't even a lot, if any at all, of Asian grocery stores in the area to pick up ingredients from. Had high hopes but came with low expectations since I'm so grateful for the first pho restaurant in the SLO county area. Pho restaurants are usually a known quantity, very consistent from place to place with a solid, repeatable and familiar biz model. We've been craving pho since we moved and I was hopeful. First of all, the pho is disappointingly bland with none of the rich fragrance typical in other pho restaurants. It's light in color and lacks depth. Very small portion for the price too. The grilled pork munchies tasted like it was grilled without any marinade and then had sauce poured over it, nothing like what I've enjoyed at other Vietnamese pho restaurants around the country. Secondly, to my dismay this is not the usual tried and true Vietnamese pho restaurant model. They do not serve the usual classics and pho is their only offering, aside from appetizers. Which would be fine if the pho is phenomenal or even regular, but sadly no. I am grateful that the owners opened this restaurant because it's about time this area has more diversity in ethnic cuisine but the effort comes off as very tentative and timid, afraid even to offer fish sauce. Please improve your flavors and menu. Don't Americanize the pho, locals can handle it, truly. Visit other pho restaurants and do what they do. There's no need to reinvent the wheel. We arrived at 4pm on a Monday and were the ONLY customers in the place. It was dimly lit because all overhead lights were off and little ambient light from the window. The door was closed making it stuffy and trapping lots of flies in the front window which buzzed around our ears as we ate. We were ignored by the man running the front end as he chatted with a salesman at a back table and we were preparing to depart due to the lack of service when the salesman tuned into our displeasure and aimed the employee our direction. The Thai tea was the best part of the meal. I ordered the chicken and it was not well trimmed. The egg rolls were crunchy and the sauce was flavorful. The staff member never refilled our water, never checked back, and didn't bring the ticket to the table. I had to go to the counter in order to cash out. We came in midweek for lunch. It seems to be a family run operation. The young man serving was a good multi tasker and took good care of us. I had the pork spring rolls and they were perfect. I had no idea I could get these in SLO county. I had them in Orange county at Brodard Restaurant and they were called "crispy pork rolls". That's because they have a crunchy surprise inside in addition to the tasty slice of pork loaf and crunchy lettuce and cucumber. It's a perfect lunch for someone who usually eats a salad every day. My daughter opted for the beef stew special. It's not really stew but a soup that they serve with bread on the side instead of noodles. It's good and simple, the broth has the 5 spice flavors with a little sweetness. I think I would try one of the beef pho dishes next time though. Overall, a solid lunch place to add to the rotation. You know that saying, "you get what you pay for." Well that saying is true. $14.99 for 3 items sounded like a great deal but the food did not meet our expectations. The broth was clear and bland. The munchies was just ok, nothing stands out about it. The drinks was ok but the service was really bad. They never came back to refill our waters and ask how our food was.
