First time here. I was a little hesitant due to some of the previous reviews, but I try to never let that stop me from trying someplace new. First impression is its brightly lit and colored. We sat in a booth to the right when you walk in. Husband ordered a Diet Coke (cans only) and large pho tai ($11.50) and I opted for the Rare steak Lemon salad ($14.40). I ordered the salad spicy, but it was not spicy. It was tangy and sweet and garlicky. The flavor was good. There was a lot of meat. When they say "rare"... what they mean is raw. It was thinly sliced raw steak lol. Good flavor, just the raw meat texture got to me after a while. I ate about 2/3 and left a lot of meat... I thought about taking t home to fry up in a pan later, but didn't. The pho was ehhh. Not the worst I've had- not very much meat at all-it was OK. Staff was cordial-not overly attentive, also OK. I would give this place no stars if I could. To start off with I have never been verbally or physically ASSAULTED by employees in a restaurant. We ordered food and it came out beyond bland...I've never had a problem with food before to the point where I refused to eat it nor pay for it. We were extremely kind about it and still wanted to pay for the food we did eat. Well we're told off by the waiter and the cook; told we're wrong they know what they are doing and accussed of being broke. I'm in the military I would have gladly payed for the whole meal myself if it was decent. They wanted to get the police so I agreed to that and I offer to speak to security outside. As I'm leaving the waiter forcefully pulled and tried to stop me from walking outside with the officer. I don't pull the military card but I had to just to let him no that I could have ended up hurting this guy. That is not acceptable especially with making a scene in front of others. The food here is alright. My family reports the pho being made with the wrong noodles and it not tasting as it should. Personally, my dish was ok but the flavor could've been better because I have experienced better, but it is not bad. However, the store hygiene can be up-kept better because during my visit the tables were sticky and the siracha was watered down. read more

My family and I came here for lunch. We read great reviews from yelp and google map to only find great disappointment. I ordered a wonton soup where the broth was so salty and layered with fat. The wonton had so much black pepper that I couldn't even finish my bowl. I was drinking water to fill myself up so just expect to get full from water while paying a giant bill. Their pho is ok but everything either has no seasoning or just too salty. I am vietnamese and have ate pho at many places and this is one of the worst one. He has one of the best service I had, and he is very consistent. He's been serving us for the past couple years and we are always happy to see him and be served by him. If you want 5 star restaurant service Vincent is your guy. He's very knowledgeable about the food and won't steer you wrong. The food is great and fast. The bun bo hue is just decent.. 3/5 in my opinion since they don't put blood cake or some of the other vegetable garnishes that usually come standard. As with the bun bo hue, they don't have the plethora of herbs that other establishments (Chinatown) offer, which I think takes away from the authenticity to some extent. Portion sizes are generous so come hungry. The service is good. Our waiter (younger guy) was very pleasant and accommodating. Although he messed up our order a bit his friendly demeanor made it tolerable. The banh mi here are also pretty good too. You know....waiting for my order of pho, only to notice that about 3-4 tables, who came after me and after I made my order, got their orders before me. Yup. Soon after he noticed, which was a while...(bc my friend practically finished his pho and put his hand up to point to me to get his attention) he says, sorry I'll make your food now. I wanted to like them but my oxtail pho left a lot to be desired. First, the noodles were clumped together and that was after they had been soaking in hot broth. I often would come here with my boyfriend, food and service was usually always good. The young guy who works there always talks a little too much to us and gives off a strange vibe. However just recently we came again after a while of not eating here and had the worst service ever. The young guy was the one to take our order, had the nerve to ask us "I just wanna clear things up if my service was bad the last time you guys were here because I noticed you guys didn't leave me a tip." BUT today we came in...and as we were 3/4 done with our meal, my nephew found a ROACH IN HIS PHO!!!!!!!!!!! We quickly called over a male server and told him, he then told our server, and they were both just freaking out a little lol. Then they told a female server and she offered to cook a half size new for him but we were already so disgusted because we all ordered the same pho which was probably all cooked in the same pot. Pho 777 is a convenient and non-nonsense place to come for Vietnamese. Located right outside of Waikiki, it's easy to walk to, take the bus to on many busy lines on Kapiolani, and drive to (parking is available but can get full, try in the basement). The restaurant is located on the second floor of McCully Shopping Center at the corner of McCully and Kapiolani. There are lots of dining options here, including plenty of dessert places after your pho. It's on of the cheaper and healthier options also. If you're getting food to go, they package everything separately and with care. Pho is only available in one large size for take-out. Your order will be ready in 5-10 minutes, so it's great for a quick meal. The restaurant is spacious and always kept clean and comfortable. Sometimes, it's a little too cold for me to eat in. They actually have a nice view of the streets below, so it's a calm place to watch the lights of cars go by. The staff is mostly friendly, with a few exceptions. They have a typical alcohol selection of beer and wine. The food is great. The vegetable sides are always fresh and ample. The pho bowls are large with plenty of noodles and well-cut fresh meats. I prefer the rare steak myself. I love all the spicy sauces on the table: Sriracha, red pepper sauce, and the fish sauce. Their food is perfect for the odd times: when you're feeling sick, those rare times you're cold, or need a late night healthy snack. They offer lots of side dishes and other Vietnamese staples including rice dishes. Food is reasonably priced, right around $10-15 a person depending on how much you order. read more

Two infractions in one meal are a no go for me. We ordered spring rolls and found two black specks floating in our fish sauce. These were dead bugs. I ordered a small pho. In the fresh veggies that typically accompany the noodle dish, I found one very long hair tangled up on the ong choy. When I alerted the waiter, instead of taking away the veggies, he pulled the hair out of the veggies and only thought to replace the entire dish after I kept on staring. Pho was nothing special either. And at $4.50 for an ice coffee, you'd think that there would be enough to at least fill up the glass. Nope, the little saucer they gave me only filled up half of a tall glass. Most of the time I don't like to be so negative, but two in one is just gross. Hair, Bugs, Long Waits and Out of order Service. In the past three times I have come to Pho 77, my rank for this place just seems to lower and lower. It's not that their food is bad, or they are bad to me, but from just being an observant customer, I notice a lot of things. THINGS IN THERE FOOD. The first time I came here with my mom, sister and my sister's boyfriend we were all starving, we were served quickly and got our pho. My sister's boyfriend found a bug in his soup. IT WAS A ROACH. He was furious and they replaced it quickly. I looked around in mine and found s very small fruit fly. I just scooped it out because I understand that they are harmless and that it would take forever for them to wash every single basil leaf thoroughly. I mean even under a quick rinse the fly could have been holding on with all its strength. I let that go. So with his new bowl, he finds strands of long hair. That is inexcusable. I felt bad for him and he looked pissed. From then on, we ate our pho slowly checking everything that went in our mouth. WAITING FOR DAYYYS. The service here is pretty bad. They have a pretty big place compared to some pho places, but I think they need to know there limit. I feel like they always take in more customers than they could handle and just run around trying to please whoever they want when they want too. For example, my friends I and I were seated (party of 3), then a family of 8 was seated, and then a Vietnamese couple was seated last. Obviously the couple got their water and food before us or the family. The family sitting had to wave down the waiter just to get water after the Viet couple already began eating. By the time we got our food, the mother of the family waved down the guy to say they were ready to order. I could tell they were mad because they were waiting over 25 minutes before they got to order their pho. With only two workers that night trying to serve 20 tables, I give them no pity. They could have been honest and told people at the door to wait. Honesty isn't bad. I would rather be told, "Sorry we are busy, please wait 20-30 minutes," instead of being sat and getting all pissed as I waited for some attention. Luckily their pho and vermicelli bowls are amazing. Wells I love the pounded shrimp and pork vermicelli the best. It is full of noodles and veggies with lots of taste. If it weren't for their food, I would probably give them a 1. This is why I trust Yelp, the reviews for this place were precise. Luckily, the only bug I encountered was the fly going around to each table. There's something about being fearful of bugs in food after seeing the previous reviews with pictures of the evidence. Other than eating very carefully to ensure that a bug isn't eaten, I wasn't satisfied with the food. Coming from LA, I have really high standards for Viet food. I ordered pho chin gan sach, bun cha gio thit nuong, and the bì cuón. The best option out of the three was the pho. As I break it down... Pho: The broth was too oily and tasteless. There wasn't enough noodles and the amount given was too mushy from the start. The vegetables seemed old.. and the meat was just okay... Cold vermicelli dish: I wouldn't recommend this to anyone if they've had really great experiences elsewhere. The noodles didn't deserve to be in a dish with a good reputation. There wasn't enough meat and the fish sauce was off balance. Shredded pork roll: Every ingredient that was made of the appetize tasted old and was not good. Horrible, horrible service. Long story short, I didn't get my food I ordered. I used to eat here as often as once a week, but after this experience I will never go back here again. My fiancé managed to get his food only after getting the wrong order first. I asked for a discount on my bill for obvious reasons. They couldn't even give me 10% off. What a slap in the face. I understand being short staffed, it sucks. But if that was the case, communicate to your customers before they are seated. All they had to say was "I'm so sorry but we are short staffed today, so the food may take longer than usual to come out" or something along those lines. COMMUNICATE! No one wants to wait over 30 minutes late at night after a long day of work to not get their food. side note: I saw one table of two leave after being there for over 15minutes, without getting their order taken, or even get water. Pho 777 is my go to place for pho whenever I am sick or just needing a pho fix. They are located at the Mcully shopping center above 711. Parking may sometimes be a bit challenging if you're going during rush hour. But there's always a fast turn around time with parking there or you can park in their parking garage. I always get the Oxtail Pho and or Meatball Pho in the small size and it's perfectly good and enough to fill my stomach. They come in Small/Medium/Large and I think extra large as well. Every time I've come here for dinner and lunch, it's always easy to get seated and the food comes out about 5-10 minutes after ordering. There is a t.v with Vietnamese music videos playing constantly, which can get annoying after a while... Sorry, I'm not a fan of Vietnamese music. This place really lacks customer service. Although our orders were taken right away and brought out rather quick, NO ONE ever came to check on us! Not once. Our empty dishes just sat on the table as we sat there talking story. My friend even went to the bathroom, came back, and still no one came to check on us. We honestly could have just walked out without making any payment... that is how neglected we were. The food tastes ok, yet I probably wouldn't be the best person to ask since I like my Pho plain to begin with... Kind of hard to mess that up. Before, we used to come here all the time at night. But, we haven't been here for like 3 years. This is the first time that we came here during the day for lunch. Everything came out right away and everything looked good! Same as during the night, the service is still fast and friendly. Nothing changed and that's why this place is always busy whether it be night or day.
