This was Pho4Real which I wasn't quick enough to try and now it changed hands and is Pho79 DC. They had the "buy 1 get 1 free" special since it's a grand opening. We showed up around 12:30pm on. Sunday and we're seated right away. The gentleman greeted us warmly, told us about their specials and gave some suggestions. We ended up ordering an order of eggrolls (2 in 1 order) and the Phở Đặc Biệt per his recommendations and usually has the tripes, various meat cuts and tendons. For the Pho: The broth is perfectly seasoned: rich flavors but not heavy and it wasn't bland or too salty. It was very spot on for me in terms of flavors. The noods were good, not overly cooked or al dente so that was spot on too. The meat cuts were decent, more lean than fat which is what I like. It was lacking though in the amount of meat: 1 spoon of the finely cut tripe (I don't care for it so I gave it all to my spouse) and there were barely any tendons and there were a couple of meatballs. i think for the price ($17.99/bowl), they probably could be a little more generous with the meat. But the flavors were good, so that made up for the lack of meat. It comes with the usual condiments: basil, wedges of lemon, some slices of jalapeño and bean sprouts which were light blanched, so that was nice. The eggrolls were ok, not your typical eggrolls to me. The wrapper is lighter but not the tradition rice paper type, Seems more crispy like fried wonton strips and the fillings isn't anything I have had. It's different, not bad, just different. I also really liked their hot chili oil. It was flavorful, not bitter like in some places. Overall, I would come back for the Pho. Hopefully they will do well and stay put for a while (and not change hands quickly). read more

Saw the owner's daughter on TikTok about this place and decided to try it out. Not only is the staff so welcoming but very "home" feeling and comfort! I really want to gate-keep this spot, but it deserves to have more people come in! First off, let's start with the ambiance, it was very clean and upon walking in, it already smelled good, you can also appreciate the wall to wall murals which makes for a great photo op! It was very spacious as well. My only complaint really is the smell near the bathrooms, while they were very clean, I wasn't really a fan of the smell that was coming from the diffuser that was set up, a different smell would be nice, but other than that, everything else was clean and nice. Service: I'll admit, I only came across this place from the tiktok post as well, and I'm really big on supporting mom and pop shops. We were welcomed and seated right away and owner made sure we had our water right away as well. She was very attentive and made sure we had enough time to look at the menu before getting it. Our waters were also filled up before even asking and gave us our own carafe of water. Overall, we received great service! Now the most important part, the food! The table/s come with sets of utensils and regular pho condiments, but most importantly, Chili Oil! Any place that carries chili oil, gets an automatic thumbs up from me. Chili wasn't extreme spicy but just provided the right amount of kick for your food! We initially ordered the spring rolls which came with peanut sauce. I ordered the combination pho and my wife ordered the lemongrass grilled chicken with egg roll. She also ordered the Thai tea. My wife enjoyed the egg-roll so much, and she's not much of an egg-roll person, that we had to order the plate of egg-rolls, and I must say say, I agreed with her. -Egg-rolls- first thing that stood out to me was the texture, it was very crispy and light without that oiliness. The filling was also very flavorful but subtle. Im not sure, but from the pictures, I think those might be wood ear mushrooms? The house made dipping sauce complemented it very well, it wasn't thick, but it wasn't watery either like most pho places where you're forced to drench your egg roll. -Spring Roll- I really like evenly spread out the shrimp filling was inside the egg roll. We thought it was delicious as well. I think the star of the show was the peanut sauce. It wasn't clumpy nor salty like alot of pho places where the peanut sauces tend to be hoisin heavy, but Pho 79 DC has a more peanut forward, and subtle approach to their sauce. You can almost feel like they took the time to perfect their sauce. -Thai Tea- I will also say the same for the Thai Tea in that it feels like they took the time to perfect it , it was sweet but not terribly sweet like every other thai tea. There was almost a certain freshness to it. You definitely have to try it to understand. -Lemongrass Grilled Chicken- while we preferred our lemon grass chicken from another spot in town, this plate did not disappoint! The chicken was cooked perfectly and was very tender and flavorful! We were skeptical but very pleased with the lemongrass chicken and wouldn't mind ordering this again. -Combination Pho- I believe this was Item 16. I think what makes or break a pho place is their broth. While I think the amount of toppings is something to consider, it really is the broth that should be looked it. The Pho 79 DC broth was well balanced and flavorful. Again, one of those things you feel like they took the time to perfect. It was neither too sweet too salty nor too herby from the aromatics. Everything just right. I really appreciated the freshness. I read some on here where there wasn't enough toppings and I disagree, there was plenty toppings, I would say it was pretty standard if not more than I would get from other pho places. I also liked that the mint/sprout/ lemon condiments were just enough for your bowl and that they don't overwhelm you. Like i said, subtle. I ended up not finishing just cause we ordered so much, but i can tell ya, the flavors hold up just as well the next day when I took my leftover to work. Overall, this was a great first experience and would definitely come back to this place again if we're ever on that side of town. I also appreciate the no frills approach to the menu. They don't overwhelm you with extra options. I really hope the family makes it through and the business gets more traffic. You can really tell it's a passion project for the owners and they just want to serve good food! I hope you all will enjoy the food as much as we did. read more

Was craving pho today & usually we go to our go to in our area but we saw this ad popped up that this place on spring mountain had a grand opening and had a special for BOGO pho today so we decided to try it out. We got an order of spring roll and 2 #16 pho dac biet special, honestly was going to give this place a 3 star at least but after finding out that my husbands bowl had a hair in it just purely threw me off. First off service when we first got in was good everyone was friendly, we ordered but I noticed that our food came a little late I saw people who came way after us got their food way before us, we didn't get the spring rolls we ordered after our bowls already came and we had to ask for them, when the server brought our bowls she had to ask me for help because she barely can carry the tray without it spilling, which was fine didn't mind it. The noodle bowl for $17.99 was a bit smaller portion specially for the price, there were barely meat in the bowl, the broth was in the good side but had had better in town, but I guess for BOGO can't complain much. The spring roll was ok but the sauce is a bit thick than normal almost like a consistency of a peanut butter in a Jar.The Vietnamese coffee is good but more ice and pricier than usual barely got any coffee in it . The place it self i loved the painting in the restaurant, owner was there to greet and nice, but my husband did let me know he found a hair in his bowl but knowing how I was he didn't want to tell me until we were out . Spotted this driving down Spring Mountain on a Saturday noon in search of soup for lunch. Wanted to try something new and this place had a Grand Opening banner up so me and the fam went in. The menu has the basics - pho, vermicelli bowls and rice plates, spring rolls and egg rolls. Opted for pho. The broth is on the sweeter side and came out nice and hot. I felt like there was ample portions of meat in mine. My husband felt like he didn't get enough in his. The spring rolls were yummy and fresh. I loved their peanut butter sauce which is in the thicker and darker side - I prefer this. Their egg rolls didn't come with to lettuce but didn't matter because these were delicious anyway and I appreciated the small portion of dipping sauce - most restaurants give too much. Additionally, i feel like the "special" items can be written more clearly as the Bun Dac Biet says a choice of any meats or seafood + egg roll (but not WITH grilled shrimp), which does not make sense for its price compared to other options.
