Bún Thịt Nướng

As a self-appointed pho connoisseur, I take my pho very seriously. Let's just say I've done the research. A lot of research. Delicious research. Pho 85 has all the ingredients of a successful pho house. The restaurant is small, clean, cute and refreshingly well air-conditioned. That may not sound important until you're sitting in front of a giant bowl of piping hot pho on a warm day. Speaking of the pho, the broth is well balanced, flavorful and served nice and hot, exactly as it should be. No waiting for it to cool down and no wondering where the flavor went. I also appreciate that the menu doesn't try to be everything to everyone. It's focused and thoughtful, with the key dishes you'd expect including bò kho. My husband is a big fan of their bánh mì, which gives me an excuse to steal a few bites every visit. Another bonus is the location. It's conveniently right off Highway 85 with plenty of parking, which is practically a luxury in the Bay Area. Good pho, good sandwiches, easy parking and a comfortable dining room. What's not to like? Pho 85 has earned a spot on my pho rotation and that's not a title I hand out lightly.

Pho tai with beef balls & regular noodles
Jenny Y.

One visit and it's already up there on my list. Ordered #3 pho tai (rare steak pho) and a side of beef balls with regular noodles. There's an option to get fresh noodles. Good broth - tasted clean and wasn't bland, salty or that oily. For the vegetable plate, they automatically cook the bean sprouts. It was 8:15pm and it's about 15 minutes away, so we were hesitant to go since they close at 9pm. Called to check and they said not a problem at all. A few others came in after us and got seated, and we saw others get turned away (because it was already past closing time). We didn't feel rushed at all - good customer service! Good space and well lit. Easy parking in the plaza. Totally satisfied with the pho and would definitely get again. They have other items on the menu that look good to try next time!

Aside from keeping the former Mochinut walls, Pho85 minimal renovations have the store looking clean, refreshed, and brightened. They got some nice sturdy menu boards. I've eaten here a few times during their series of promotions and will say, it is pretty decent in flavor, but it is also pretty salty. A little skimpy on the bean sprouts when you have to share it with multiple parties. Im guessing you can always ask for more. Haven't had anything but pho. Will consider trying other things since it is close to work.

2nd time here with my 9 yr old son and he absolutely loves pho. We get a large and share a bowl with him, he eats everything up. His regular will be a ube smoothie with boba everytime he visits. Will most likely be getting him his own bowl soon. They do have a child bowl option. Thank you for opening up a pho place closer to home that we don't need to travel so far for. Great location

Came here around 7:55 pm on a Friday with my girlfriend! PARKING: this restaurant is in a plaza so there was plenty of parking. PLACE: used to be where mochinut was so it is pretty small and there are a few booth tables and it isn't hugely spacious so it could get crowded quick if it is busy. SERVICE: only one or two servers on the floor so could take a little bit for your order to be taken but they were pretty accommodating and fast! FOOD & DRINK: Thai tea & mocha smoothie - Thai tea had very good flavor, my girlfriend wanted boba but they didn't have any at the moment; mocha smoothie tasted more like coffee but watered down. Special grilled shrimp, grilled pork, and egg roll - portions weren't huge as I expected but since a lot of meat came into the bowl I understand and also since it is for one person as well. Definitely could have used some more sauce than just a grilled flavor but overall solid, could have a choice between salad, vermicelli, or rice. Filet mignon rare steak pho - meat kind of tasted like every other pho but overall really good broth and I love to dip my meat in a variety of sauces but overall not bad for quality. A great pho place, 5 stars for good service but since it is their grand opening they had a raffle which was nice for every $20 spent you get a ticket.

Checked the new Pho spot in the South Bay. More and more spots keep popping up, so the competition in the area is getting tough. The pho here tasted great. I didn't feel heavy or bloated after. Everything was fresh. I wish they gave you more hoisin and sriracha sauce. The restaurant is small, so it may not be the best place for a large group. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Lots of parking and the restaurant is very clean. The waiting staff might need some help but the team overall is doing a fantastic job for being a new business. Interior decor is a bit weird since it's all Roman aesthetics, I guess Julius Cesar loved Vietnamese noodles? The pho broth is a bit salty for my taste but overall it's very decent. I love that they give the options for fresh noodle, not many pho reustraunt have this option as this is only the real way to eat pho (other spots uses vermicelli noodles in their pho and it's not the authentic way to eat this meal). They do not cheap on the sides of veggies or meat, there is plenty.

Parking: huge parking plaza with plenty of spots Interior: clean, modern design, multiple tables for different group sizes. Wait Time: None to be seated and about 5-10min for food. Weekend lunch was not busy. Items Order: 8/10 Grand opening pho $12 - small size bowl with well done flank. Broth was on the sweeter side but I liked it. It was clear and very flavorful not too fatty. Got fresh noodles and it was bomb! Meat was tough and not much portion.

First time visiting after receiving multiple recommendations from friends and family, and I'm so glad I listened! The service was quick and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor. I'll definitely be back!

We ordered Spring Rolls, Pho combo, and Pork and Egg Roll vermicelli. A6: The Spring Rolls with shrimp were excellent and fresh. The rice paper wrappers were soft, making them one of the top 3 in town imo! No.1: The Pho combo was an absolute delight! It included ox tail, beef, and a flavorful soap. The beef was tender and juicy, while the ox tail added a unique and delicious element to the dish. A little bit pricey but worthy. No.34: The Pork and Egg Roll vermicelli was alright. The meat portion was smaller compared to other restaurants, and the pork and fried egg rolls were just okay. However, the vermicelli with vegetables was absolutely delicious! The sauce had a unique sweetness that set it apart from other vermicelli dishes. The brown sugar milk tea was made with fresh milk and was not too sweet, which was a nice touch. The Thai tea was average. They were free during the grand opening promo period. The restaurant was modern and clean, and I particularly enjoyed the paintings on the walls.

Pho 85 broth is one of the better ones compared to what you get around the area unless you drive down to east side San Jose. Prices are reasonable and the restaurant is clean.

Been wanting to try this place out since good authentic Asian restaurants aren't as prevalent in this area. We came in around 5pm and it wasn't too busy. Very clean and modern vibes inside. We ordered a #4 and #14. Both came with a good amount of noodles and meat. The meat quality really stood out to us - they were good cuts and very tasty! I love that they have a nice well rounded menu. Our usual go to is Pho Teresa because it's right by our house, but we will also be coming back to Pho 85! Over all a great first experience.

We waited for a bit, and a table opened up shortly after. You place your order with the cashier before finding a seat. The atmosphere of SJ Eggrolls is casual, with a huge TV playing sports and minimal decor. The food arrived soon after I ordered. Their signature net egg rolls are phenomenal. I am obsessed with the crunchy net wrapping - it was the perfect crispy texture. The filling of pork and shrimp was savory and delicious. It paired well with lettuce, mint, pickled carrots, and a sweet chili sauce. I loved the spring rolls as well. They tasted super fresh and had a variety of fillings. The Chinese sausage spring roll was my absolute favorite. The salty sausage contrasted well against the clean, fresh vegetables. Every dish was a very good price. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to my estimated pickup time and the egg rolls (netted and regular) were ready but the Banh Khot were still being cooked. The estimated pickup time on the website was pretty accurate. Everything made the 35 minute journey and stayed crispy!! The regular egg rolls were tasty but nothing special. The netted egg rolls however, I'd come back for. They were crispy all throughout and the filling was well seasoned. The Banh Khot were very crispy with a nice and pleasant chew from the coconut batter. My husband loved the flavor and texture. I wasn't a huge fan of the coconut flavor being so prominent but I know that's a staple of Banh Khot batter. Next time I'd skip the regular egg rolls but I'm happy I tried them!

Despite it being in a big lot, parking still took a while to find. Thankfully, we had thankfully just beat the lunch rush and not had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table. My friend and I shared a Northern spread (Bun Cha Ha Noi) and a Southern style Goat Curry (Banh Mi Cari De). Service was definitely on the slower side that day, but thankfully we were proactive at getting the orders in. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was delicious - pretty much a DIY spring roll - all the fun, all the mess, with none of the clean up other than licking the plates clean. The pork belly was delicious; I was surprised how much I liked it, since I'm not a fan of pork. I devoured numerous rolls, and we also had some extra vermicelli to finish off the rest of the protein. This single meal was definitely more than enough for two! The Banh Mi Cari De (goat curry) was unfortunately quite the opposite. The goat was cooked very well - tough, gamy, and difficult to eat. There were probably six pieces in total, our first was tender, our second had bone, a little harder to chew, and the last was best compared to rubber. The curry was a bit watery, which made the banh mi soggy when dipped in. This was probably an adventurous try, but not a dish I'd ever consider ordering again.

If you can't find parking in that plaza, there's more parking across the road where the Target is. After spending about ten minutes on the written wait-list, our names were called. It's definitely a little easier communicating with much of the staff if you speak Vietnamese, and I find that waiting right outside the restaurant is best because they default to calling your name from the door once it's your turn. The interior is crammed with tables; the atmosphere feels busy and warm. There is a single room women's bathroom and men's bathroom in the back as well. The decor leans toward being classic more than trendy, which I liked. The menu is pretty big, offering a variety of items ranging from mainstream Vietnamese options to ones I don't encounter as often. I recommend eating family-style for many of these dishes, including the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng, which I enjoyed with my partner. The prices are pretty average, and their portions are generous. That said, they are cash or Zelle only. There is an ATM that you can use if you forget to bring cash, but this is still something to keep in mind. Overall, I can definitely see myself coming back. The appetizers were all good and definitely satisfied my craving for Hue-style snacks. Unfortunately, the Bun Bo Hue was disappointing. The broth had a strange flavor and was missing the rich, hearty depth that makes Bun Bo Hue so comforting and memorable. I honestly found it surprising that a restaurant specializing in Hue cuisine would miss the mark on one of its most iconic dishes. Another thing I noticed was that the vermicelli noodles were broken into many small pieces, which made me feel like they weren't particularly fresh. It definitely affected the overall eating experience. Before leaving, I also ordered a banh canh to go. That ended up being really good, though I personally wasn't a fan of the fresh-cut noodles. By the time I got home, they had expanded quite a bit in the broth and became softer than I prefer. Overall, I enjoyed everything except the Bun Bo Hue. The appetizers were solid, the banh canh was tasty, and I'd come back for those items. However, the Bun Bo Hue is one dish I probably won't order again.

I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal.
