Picking a pho restaurant on Federal is like picking the pretties flower in a field...maybe not my best analogy but you know what I'm going for. What separates Pho 96 from the rest of the "flowers" is its incredible wait staff. From the first time I walked in there, they were attentive, speedy, and friendly beyond belief. The side veggies are always fresh and abundant -- they never skimp on Basil, jalapenos or lime even when its a solo diner. Pho 96? Yes Please! We stopped in here accidentally a few weeks ago when we were trying to kill a little time early for dinner down the road on Federal... We ordered tea and spring rolls and decided it would be wise to come back, sooner rather than later! This restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in Denver. A bit of a hole in the wall, interesting Christmas decorations?, And the best Vietnamese food I have found to date, ever. The rice noodle bowls (Buns) far exceeded my experience to date; they were full of rice noodles, tasty bits of marinated meats and shrimps and delicious chopped egg rolls with a wonderful sauce. This was stupendous and I had plenty of leftovers to take home and they were great two days later!!! The boyfriend ordered the large pho with minced beef and it was delivered with pride -saying these are the largest bowls of pho in Denver! I believe that! The bowl was bigger than boyfriend's head. And it cost 7.25! Lots of great food for very reasonable price, great friendly service, easy in and easy out, great for pick up: Pho 96 is a new go to in my repertoire! read more

My favorite pho place in Denver! I love coming here on a cold day enjoying Pho and a coconut water. The staff works very quickly and efficiently. They are all friendly but get to the point quickly (like a true authentic pho restaurant). I get the veggie pho and the amount of spices they put in it is perfect! It's cold and late on a weekend night and I'm in the mood for something warm. Cue Pho 96... open until 3 AM on the weekends. What a godsend. Parking at 11:30 PM on a Friday night was chaotic, and we actually had to park across the street and walk over. I opened the front door and there was a mass of people lined up for the hostess, and I'm starting to think I may have found a not-so-hidden gem. Soon enough we got our table and it was on. The Vietnamese egg rolls: Best egg rolls I've ever had. The crunch, the flavorful meat, the spice, it's almost overwhelming and one of my all time favorite appetizers. The Pho was just as delicious as the Boba smoothie, and I left in the wee hours of the morning not only completely satisfied but also blown away. I cannot speak for the dine-in food here but the take out is absolutely disappointing. It took us over an hour to finally receive our order and the soup was completely cold. I ordered the pho rare steak and it came in a zip lock bag which I was not able to cook in cold soup. My husband ordered the pork chop over rice and it was extremely dry and salty. It also didn't come with proper utensils to cut up the large piece of pork. This restaurant clearly did not think through the take out/delivery process. First off, I am going to make a bold statement and say Denver has some of the best pho I have ever had in the United States (I have had pho in Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, North Carolina, and New Hampshire). That being said, there are a ton of restaurants extremely close together in Denver, and so my review is slightly-based on its comparison to the other restaurants I've tried here, Pho 95 and Pho888: not as good as as Pho 95 but better than Pho888. THE GOODNESS --- Hours: Came here after a Broncos game because it is one of the only pho places in the vicinity still open at late hours (up to 3am!) Parking lot was semi-full so can be difficult to park, but somewhat expected. --- Mom and Pop Feel: Even at 11pm, there were a lot of people here, which is always a good sign. It was definitely smaller than some of the other restaurants, but to its advantage, the owners and servers are very nice. Water in my cup was filled constantly. THE NOT SO GOODNESS --- Pho: I got a rice noodle soup pho with well done brisket, tendon, and tripe. If I had to compare it to other states, Pho 96 would easily get 5 stars. However, I don't know if it was just late in the night, but the broth was somewhat bland and meat was somewhat lacking, compared to Pho 95. Portion sizes were still good, considering how many noodles they give you, but I wouldn't say it was the best pho I've ever had. --- Cleanliness: The picture I posted doesn't show the ground...you can thank me later. I appreciate the mom and pop/hole in the wall feel, but it's hard for me to rank a place with max stars when there were napkins and scraps all over the floor. As clean as everything else was, it just didn't look good walking in. WOULD I COME BACK? --- If it was late at night and nothing else was open, yes. "Hello there my friend!" This has become our new favorite, after Pho 95 and though I think the servers may know us by now, they'd probably greet you with this whether or not you're a regular. The broth here is wonderful. It's not too sweet, not too salty and I never feel any itchy pangs or disgruntled tummies afterwards which means they're not trying to cover up any bland issues with MSG. I always get either the raw steak or veggie pho with regular broth and it never disappoints. Lots of vegetables, the tofu is fried before adding and never soggy and the steak and toppings always look fresh! I think we've recently finally found out why this place is so comparable to Pho 95. On multiple occasions, we're told both places are owned by the same family. Same family recipe? Maybe just the same family friendliness? Whatever the case, it's working. I'm hooked! read more

Filet mignon pho is the real deal. I mean pho was good before but throw in some impossibly tender beef and things just get better. I ordered 4 items from here for delivery from Uber eats. Only one item arrived. The driver said to contact the restaurant about the missing items. When I explained the situation to the woman at the restaurant who answered the phone, she grew confrontational and said it wasn't their problem. She said to call Uber eats who referred me back to the restaurant. When I called back, the woman first suggested that some customer had picked up the missing order by mistake at the restaurant. Then she accused me of stealing the missing food. I don't know who is responsible for making up the difference, but this woman was incredibly rude. I got the impression she's never given a refund in her life. So beware. If that's the type of people you're willing to deal with, go ahead and order. After reading a review about sanitation issues, I almost walked out of this restaurant. But we had already ordered and my husband wanted to try the bun bo hue as it isn't offered at many pho places. The bun no hue delivered. They tossed in a pork knuckle which really excited the husband. I ordered the marinated steak which was fine but the broth was murkier than I prefer and the amount of noodles was fairly meager. The basil/bean sprout toppings seemed fresh and cleaned. Pho 96 is deee-lish! This Pho joint has become our new go-to. There is parking, and it's never crowded (unlike another good pho place), but it's also never empty all the times we've gone. As for the food, the grilled pork spring rolls have become a must have. Nice juicy grilled pork wrapped in rice paper with other goodies and served with a peanut sauce. It's a great starter to a comforting steaming bowl of a Pho of your choice, or even a refreshing yet very filling combo noodle bowl. I wouldn't say it's the "best in town" but it was pretty good. The thing that threw this place into the four star category for me is that our waters were refilled twice without us having to ask or even make eye contact. The broth was fine, good amount of protein (I was still finding bits of meat in the bottom of my bowl when I was taking my final sips) but it didn't wow me. Heeding the warnings of others, we avoided the boba, however getting the Vietnamese egg rolls was a fantastic decision. I can't believe I haven't review this yet! My sister, her husband I were hankering for some Pho on the random night in May that it ended up snowing a foot. After having a few beers at a local brewery, we ventured over to Pho 96 for some deliciously hot noodles and yumminess. I'm always a fan of Vietnamese noodle bowls, so I opted for one with both chicken, beef and shrimp - which was full of veggies, sprouts and a spicy sauce to dump over the top. MMMM! Both my sister and her husband ordered large bowls of pho that were overflowing with noodles, fresh basil and so much goodness we had to take home! On my quest to try every pho restaurant on Federal (LOL!) I stopped at Pho 96 for lunch today. I was a little worried to see the parking lot empty, and only two other guests in the restaurant. We were greeted and sat quickly. Their menu is fairly large and looks to include the basics as well as specialties like bun bo hue. My hubs had the filet mignon, while I opted for marinated steak and some hot tea. Our food came out so fast! Smells were heavenly! Beef and noodles were hearty portions. The marinade was a bit too black peppery and heavy on onions, but otherwise everything hit the spot. Price was right. Annnnnnd they are open on Fri and Sat until 3 am!!! I had been told this place had the best pho in Denver, so with that in mind I had been wanting to check it out. Not sure why we decided to order take out for pickup on a Sunday night when there was a blizzard, but we really enjoyed it and would absolutely go back. We got a chicken pho, meatball pho, and some spring rolls. Everything was really great, though I wouldn't describe the meatball pho as meatballs. It is more like slices of meat like sausage. Spring rolls were excellent, very fresh - I would request a diff sauce next time instead of the peanut sauce it comes with. Despite only ordering 2 pho entree's and an appetizer, they gave us an enormous box when we picked up our order. I didn't understand why until I got home. They included an additional box of all the condiments. PLENTY of fresh basil, jalapeños, and spicy sauce. I def appreciated this being that other places either forget to give you the condiments or skim you on it when you order take out. Pho def isn't the same with out throwing all that good stuff in there. I look forward to checking this place out again and dining in. One last thing I will mention is, it seems to be Pho Nation on this street. There are literally 4 or 5 other pho places within a 1 mile radius. Great pho and fried egg rolls with many bean sprouts, basil and jalapeños! The menu also has rice bowls, dry noodle bowls, soft egg rolls and boba shakes. I would take my out of town friends here if you're looking for good cheap vietnamese food. They don't do stir fried food so the menu is limited but they do it very well. I have been out if the country for several months and I was really craving for some pho from Colorado. Yes, it's different in San Fran and just as different in Australia and I can't get away from the flavors I grew up with. This is the first time I had pho at this restaurant and it's really good plus they have good service which is unheard of in asian restaurants. For example, they refilled our waters and came by our table multiple times even though it was busy ... Wow! The egg roll came first and the sauce has enough sugar, spice and fish sauce to be more elaborate than just "fish sauce". Next came the combo pho with rare beef, tendons and tripe. The tendons are nice and soft and they spent a good time in the broth because you can taste it. I also tried their brisket and that is nice and tender too. Came to pho 96 bc we wanted to give the underdog a chance (pho 555 was across the street). Didn't get any pho but got the 1B (bun thit nuong) and it was pho-king good! A ton of meat at a reasonable price. On a side note, I think the owners of both pho establishment (Pho 96 and Pho555) should have a pho cookoff and the loser moves. It appears Pho 96 may have had an ownership change since my last visit. I decided to swing by and pick up a medium rare steak and tendon Pho for takeout for about $8.50. If it had an ownership change, then they are still as consistently good as I remembered them to be. Service was friendly and quick. I no sooner sat down and was offered a glass of water, and my food came out - boxed nicely, broth wrapped to avoid spills, healthy size bag of all the fresh trimmings like Thai basil, jalapenos, etc. When I got home, broth was still scalding hot. It was flavorful yet still light in color. I wish I weighed it because I got a large amount of thin, sliced rare steak I love tendon and wished there was more of it...that was surprisingly far less in quantity then the rare steak. Nevertheless, still very enjoyable....solid Pho, great value, and late hours! I tried the bun bo hue. It's different from what I'm used to, but it had good flavor. I'm used to a more dank and funky bun bo hue, but this one was still good. I was becoming a regular here until I found a bandaid in my food, pictured below. I understand that these things happen but when I called the man working laughed at me when I expressed that I'd like a refund. He told me to bring everything back and he'd make me another when I really just wanted a refund. When I got back to the 'restaurant' he told me it wasn't any of his staff and typically his boss doesn't do refunds or remakes, never apologizing once. For 10 minutes he continued to avoid any responsibility to the point where he said they'd look at the camera but no one had a cut.. I said gee, it must have fallen from the ceiling. Then a woman in high heels, gloves, and a skirt came from the kitchen with my meal. I've worked at restaurants and I believe we are supposed to wear non-slip sneakers. Apparently I came on an off day last time, or the pho has gotten a serious update in the past two years. The broth is damn good - not oily, not bland, and so sating. My new thing is getting the filet mignon pho everywhere I go - it's great here, too. As a night owl, the thing that has me particularly pumped about 96 is that they're open until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. Food is served quick and hot no matter how slammed they are. Also, drive your truck if you've got one - parking may require some creative curb hopping as the lot gets packed out. Definitely a brilliant "park where you want/can" situation. read more

Now that I am officially the duchess of pho 96 I feel the urge to finally give a review. Ohhhhhh the many great things I can say, where should I begin!? The noodles are fresh made fresh daily!!! (Don't believe that, just ask Linh) The noodles are soft and A little bit more delicate than most pho places. They are ready to eat as soon as your bowl comes out. Some places you have to wait for the hot broth to soften them up. The vegetables are fresh. No bag of frozen oddly cut carrots here. No stalks of just broccoli stem either! The plate of items for your pho is piled high & not stingy. I have Never seen wilted anything here like most places. The veggie broth is THE best I've found in my many years of phoing around, and believe me I PHO around! You can ask for your veggie broth to be spicy which is my favorite. It full of flavor and umami. I been coming here for over 4 years now and I've consistently brought friends here just to show case that Pho 96 sets the bar for others. We were in Denver area for a work, and decided to have Vietnamese food since we haven't had that for awhile. Pho96 just recently open about 6 months, but we thought we give it a go, and they didn't disappoint us. I had combination rice with pork chop and the dish was delicious. My wife had veggie pho and she loves it although it was a bit spicy for her. The mint and bean spout were fresh not like other restaurant in the area. We live in CA and viet food is second to none, but Pho96 is up there comparing with CA Pho. There are plenty of parking spaces, and the inside of the restaurant is clean. Staffs are friendly and service if fast. Price is cheap, for a $8 plus, you will get one gigantic bowl of pho which can feed 2. If you are in the area and want viet food, I would recommend this place 100%. read more

Service and food was not very great.. Service: We first walked in and waited at the front for 15 minutes and there were no customers in the restaurant nor staff.. They were all in the back laughing and talking. Finally, a woman either the waitress or cook, came out and asked us if we're eating here in English, and I responded with yes just 2 please, she then looks at her CO worker and says in Vietnamese, "I can't believe they didn't say anything to us. You seat them I don't want to." I speak both Vietnamese and English. And I find it rude if a waitress acts nice then gossips in a different language in front of my face. When we ordered I responded in Viet and the waitress was slightly embarrassed because she didn't know I understood viet. Food As soon as our food came out it was nice and hot. However, looks are deceiving.. We both got a pho Tai bo vien and the bo vien had freezer burns and when we flipped over our Tai it had old dark blood clots which ended up showing a lot of impurities in the broth, it was disgusting.. I love this place. Probably the only thing that makes it special is that it closes so late. The pho in here is pretty decent. It's not bad and not extremely good. There's a good amount of parking outside. The inside has plenty of seating. The staff are nice and bring out the food pretty fast. The days where I'm out until 2am on weekends instead of going to bed at 10pm. 96 was perfect for satisfying the late night craving that won't make you hate yourself in the morning. And it's great for satisfying any Pho craving. I heard through the grapevine that 96 owners and 95 owners were family. Maybe why the Pho here is delicious. Though pretty much all the Pho places I've had near this area, dubbed "Vietnamese town" is great. Can't really go wrong. Noodles, soup, meat are all on point. For me, small is plenty.
