Visiting my girlfriend down here in Denton and as soon as I landed we were both fiending a damn good bowl of pho! We found Pho Asian Star and figured we'd give it a go. In short, it was a big win! I've had alot of pho before but this particular bowl of pho I had was out of this world! With each warm savory bite and slurp, I felt as though I was sitting at a small table at a little roadside vendor in the heart of Vietnam! Yeah, it tasted THAT good! My girlfriend is vegan so she is a little more particular about what she eats and the staff had no problem accomodating. They offered a vegetable broth alternative which not only worked out great but tasted divine! She got the Tofu Pho and I got the Medium Rare Steak and Brisket. The beef in my pho were nice size cuts that were perfectly done. I like my meat a little bloody. And man were those cuts tender! Partner that with some umami tasting broth and it just melted in my mouth. A healthy portion of fresh veggies came on the side so I loaded mine up with onion, bean sprouts, some other herbs and lots of chilic garlic. What flavorful combinations that commented each other! The service here was prompt, staff were friendly and knowledgable about the menu, and the facility was clean and adequetly decorated. Not over the top but not underdone and barren. Prices were fair for the large portions. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is new to Viet cuisine or are longtime pho enthusiasts! This is our favorite neighborhood spot for Pho. We usually order it to go as the dining area is somewhat small and often crowded during peak hours, but this place is still great! The food is always well prepared and tastes great and the portion sizes are more than adequate. We almost always have left overs for lunch the next day. What a wonderful little hole in the wall to grab lunch ! I stopped in with my folks and was pleasantly surprised . The food was absolutely delicious. We had the vegetable noodle soup with added beef, chicken fried rice and pork vermicelli. All of which had wonderful flavor. The service was quick and very friendly . The prices were good as well. I wish that the portions were larger and that the atmosphere would be a little better ( hence the four stars ) , but all in all I still highly recommend this place . read more

This was my first taste of pho. This place is AMAZING!!! I had beef flank pho and it was out of this world. The beef broth was so flavorful. I tasted hints of cinnamon and ginger that I personally never would have put in this type of dish, but gave the pho a flavor that was a delight to the senses. ALL of the ingredients were super fresh and cooked to perfection. Additionally, I had the appetizer of fried shrimp wraps. The shrimp were wrapped in spring rolls and fried delicately. The provided orange sauce had the perfect amount of heat and sweet that made them even more tasty. Just to make sure I had a good amount of variety for my lunch I also ordered grilled chicken Vietnamese sub. The flavor of the chicken with the house made chili sauce was delicious and could have been a meal in itself. I got the beef broth with seafood, I think next time I'll try the chicken or pork broth with another mixture of meat. The have a good kids menu as well, and their prices are very reasonable. Staff always tops off my water and comes around frequently to check up. The pork and rice dish is huge and filling, although the fish sauce is pretty light and could be stronger for my taste. I'm from Houston and I move to Denton for college and I was in desperate of pho! This was the first Pho place I tried since moving to college. The broth was not the best I've tasted but it was solid, I liked the noodles and the rare steak, but to me the broth could've had more flavor. Even when I added all the sauces it was still missing something. However, the service was amazing, our server was so sweet and caring. She came to our table to make sure we had water and or if there was anything we needed. Over all it was a great experience, I just thought the broth could use more flavor.
