Pho never fails me. Only bad part was that it felt like they didn't have their A/C on! We're eating hot soup on a hot summer day and the place it self was so hot. I go to Pho Asian Star because it has been the source of comfort foods for me. I will admit that it really does ease the stomach when it needs comforting. When I go, I mainly get the Beef Noodle Soup-Combination because anytime I have soup, or Pho, I always eat mine with combined beefs and veggies as it is tradition for me. I can say that this is a great go-to option if you love beef. The service is great and I've walked out very complete with the overall experience. I cannot believe I've skipped this restaurant all the time this place has been around. As many Denton reviewers have said, we don't have a good Vietnamese fix in Denton and this place is a blessing. I tried their Combination Pho large and it was a very fulfilling portion. The broth is probably the best I've had. From what I have been told in the past, Pho broth is prepared in advanced, but I felt like they threw in a little extra upon order to make your bowl extra flavorful. I can't name every meat slice that was included in the Combination Pho, but it was worth the price. Make sure you stir the un-soaked meat with the broth as they bring it to your table. Also to add, this place has the best chili condiment. The fried chili oil is the best to throw in your meal on a cold day (It was about 49F when I visited). It turns your already delicious Pho into something even more special; almost Tom Yum like. Forget Sriracha when you visit this place and try the chili oil. read more

We were recommended Pho Asian Star when we first moved to the south side of Denton. It is SO GOOD. It quickly became a frequent stop for us. You get a great amount of food for the price. Went to a different Pho place in frisco, they didn't have a vegetarian friendly soup; and I wasn't fond of any of the food I ordered. Tried this place expecting the same result but figured I'd try it anyway. I was pleasantly surprised that they do have vegetarian friendly soup and even made the egg rolls vegetarian too! This place is just ok. The noodle dishes are good. I once ordered curry and it had french fries in it. I'm assuming maybe they ran out if potatoes and threw fries in as a replacement. It was weird. We've seen this place on the side of I35 for years as we drive by and today we finally decided to stop in for dinner. The dining area was nice and clean and there were plenty of tables available on Saturday evening but there were still enough people in there to make it feel alive. The staff quickly greeted us as we walked in and they let us choose a table to our liking. It's great that each table has a tray of condiments: chili oil, garlic chili paste, Sriracha, soy, etc, plus utensils and chopsticks. The menu is very vast but well organized with a few pictures to let you know what to expect for each type of dish. They offer soups, stir fry dishes with a side of rice, fried rice dishes, and various noodle dishes. We ordered egg rolls for an appetizer and they came out within 60 seconds. They were nice and crispy and fresh out of the fryer. Very good. My wife ordered chicken pad thai and I ordered beef egg noodle stir fry. The dishes came out within 3 minutes. The chicken pad thai was seriously the best we've ever had. Normally I don't like pad thai because most places make it too sticky and sweet. Here it was very smooth with a deep flavor of peanut, ginger, basil, and garlic. The beef egg noodles were great too. The noodles were like a cross between angel hair pasta and ramen noodles. They were slightly fried so they had a good firm texture. The flavor of the dish was great - it had a decent amount of spice but not too much - I still added several spoons of chili oil. I can't believe how good of a value this place is! $19 for two egg rolls and two dinner plates. That's less than HALF of what we have spent at comparable places in the area. Pho was good but a little to pricey for me. 4 people and we spent 80+ on dinner. We had Pho, spring roll, two dinner plates.

Very friendly staff. The noodles were good sized, and you can add extra noodles for a buck. The place had fans on top, and it feels like the AC wasn't running too high, which works if you weren't in TX. Good place to eat nonetheless. read more

My wife and I just had lunch here a few hours ago after discovering this place on YELP (thanks!). We live in the area and when we want Vietnamese food, we usually have to drive ALL THE WAY to Richardson, Arlington, or Haltom City to get our fix. Much to our delight, Pho Asian Star opened up in the area a few months ago so we gave it a try. When I pulled into the parking lot, I expected to see a sign for "Pho Asian Star" as the name implies here on YELP. Instead, the sign simply said "Asian Star," which I joked could be mistaken for some kind of karaoke bar. When I asked management about it, they simply did not change the sign after taking over the place a few months ago. On to the food. The menu is the typical overwhelming menu of options you might expect along with tapioca drinks on the back. What I thought was cool was the $6.99 lunch menu with a choice of a side-item--something you don't typically see offered as part of a lunch special for Vietnamese food. For our first visit, we both tried the pho. It was actually pretty good and better than some places in DFW. We were excited and ordered a few other items for take-out. Also, they advertise free delivery within a 3 miles radius with a $20 order minimum. Someone else mentioned there was a bit of a language barrier but we looked at that as a sign of authenticity. A nice little place with a full Vietnamese menu including a good line-up of Pho Noodle Soup. I found this restaurant on Yelp since I was in the area and I am glad I did. The restaurant is in a strip shopping center however it is clean and inviting. The staff is extremely courteous. I ordered the Rare a Steak & Tendon Noodle Soup to go. $8.95 for the XL size. Massive portion. Could have fed 2-3 people. Tasted fresh and delicious. The meat and the noodles were soft, fresh & tasty. I will try this restaurant again during lunch one of these days since they have a decent lunch menu as well. read more

Called in ordered online. When I got home the order was wrong however I called them back and they said to come back and bring back the wrong item and they will exchange what I wanted. After a week of not having any Vietnamese food, I finally settled my cravings here. Their reviews looked good so I thought I'd give it a try. I was determined to have Pho. On arrival at about 7:15 pm, the place was busy and relatively filled with only two tables open. This is always a good sign. It's a small mom and pop place run by a family and their children. The mother, who appeared to be the owner, was very welcoming and greeted with a smile and enthusiasm. I ordered iced coffee and as it dripped i had eggs rolls to wet my appetite. It was ok but enough to satisfy. Then I ordered the XL special pho and man it was huge. I was hungry so it went down easy but the broth was not quite that flavorful. Again, just enough to satisfy my craving. I enjoyed my meal thoroughly but the best part was the service from the owner who was very accommodating and friendly. It's hard to decide which adjective to use to describe how bad this place has become. $10 Extra Large Pho x 2= not enough meat to make a decent taco???? Steak was RAW! Response was rude, chaotic, and defensive. Explanation included phrase"Can't afford to put more meat". My Extra Large pho had 4 small meatballs and 4 small pieces of raw steak. For that price I've eaten enough pho to be stuffed. The icing on the cake was the fact that the pho was as bland as dishwater.
