    Pho soup without broth
    Brooke H.

My experience with this restaurant was horrifying. I am home sick today, single mom with the flu. They advertised buy 1 get 1 free - the description clearly stated - well-done brisket pho with broth & noodles. The broth they provided didn't even cover the beef and they didn't include the noodles. When I called them to ask what happened they kept repeating I ordered just the beef. Don't advertise pho soup and not provide any broth. We took the soup to show them and kindly showed them their advertisement and requested broth and they just stared at us like we were crazy. We left their terrible pho soup without broth on their counter and walked out.

Best app ever....rice cake and beef!!

Excellent pho restaurant in Rancho Bernardo. We have been coming here for years, but I am just now leaving a review. I really enjoy their noodle salads too! I recently ordered the pork and egg roll noodle salad. Yum!

I don't recommend this place. I ordered a simple beef pho, no meat just noodles and soup for my grandkids. However, the noodles were filled with veggies. The guy who took my order was rude too. He was very short and was not really paying attention. I don't recommend this place.

4.5. Our new favorite pho place because they are the only pho place that opens at 8am and is close to us. Of course we would love if Pho Hoa was closer and they open at 7 but it's so old school and far. We came early couple times. We usually get the large special and myself, I get rare steak, tripe and tendon. The broth is really good, at times a bit salty, but use some lime and sriracha to mellow it out. We've gotten their spring rolls and egg rolls. Their Viet coffee is good except if you get it there they do the traditional phin drip, which takes way too long. Make sure you say Viet coffee to go. It does take awhile for the coffee. Some of the booths are very small. My husband is a bit larger and he can fit in the booth but it's like uncomfortable. Very tight. They also have a robot carry the hot soup to your table then the server puts it on your table.

Very friendly and quick service at this Pho Ca Dao location. We were warmly greeted upon entry and seated right away. I ordered the pho tai and pho dac biet (without tripe and tendon). The soup was a little bit oily but very good. The portions were very generous. I had to take half my soup home because there was so much noodles left over. A bonus lunch the next day! And still delicious. The furniture is a bit dated. The bench I sat on had rips and exposed stuffing. The tables look like they're getting old too.

Best part!!! We can't leave with out it. Thai Tea Boba and Vietnamese coffee with Boba Delicious !!!

Excellent customer service by Kenny and Dat! So kind and patient with us. Food was great today!

Big Bone Pho (Approx $15). For perspective the round bone is bigger than the size of a baseball.

I don't live in the area any more, but every time I'm in the area, this is one of my staples. The pho here is really solid, and it's a great value. This last time I went, I ordered the Big Bone Pho. It was around $15, and I was expecting to get a beef rib in it, but I just had to write and say that when they said "Big Bone" they meant "BIG BONE". It was nearly the size of my head! I was blown away by this absolutely massive bone that was brought to me, just wow! Seriously meaty and so many of the good bits. It was so big that the noodles had to be brought in a separate bowl. And for just $15, it was more than one meal for me. I ended up cutting the meat of the bone to bring that home. Pho is one of my all-time favorite Asian noodle soups. I really didn't think that I could be that blown away by any particular pho, but this one did it out of shear shock and awe lol.

I came here with my family. The food was good. There was a bit of a wait as they were pretty busy. Servers were nice. Ambiance was typical. We will probably visit again.

Haven't had Pho in a while and used to come in here a lot when I worked down the street. It's been before Covid but how things have changed. The price of a bowl of Pho is now doubled to $15 dollars. I like the idea that it wasn't expensive. Welcome to inflation. It was still good and flavorful. Sat down quickly and it still looks exactly the same. Service is quick like it has always been. No issues.

    Egg Roll & Pork Vermicelli
    Christel L.

I've been here a few times for takeout and once to dine on the patio. Storefront parking as well as a shared mall lot. For takeout I've gotten beef banh mi and egg rolls (I appreciate that they offer both a smaller portion (3) and bigger portion (6)). When I dined in for lunch, I had the vermicelli with egg rolls and pork, which was good and it came in a pinch. I did order a specialty drink but didn't receive it til I went back inside to pay. There are no lunch specials but there is a happy hour menu. Will likely come back for pickup orders since it's conveniently located right off the freeway exit.

Loved the pho here! Food was out extremely quickly, and we didn't have to wait long for a table The broth is so light yet flavorful, and the serving size is pretty good with many pieces of meat provided! They also are pretty generous with the bean sprouts and mint leaves, which I liked! Definitely a very comfy meal

Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

They only had a table for 5 but we ended up having 6 people in our party. They were so kind to be able to accommodate the additional person! They had personalized menus that greeted my party and it wished my friends a happy birthday!! They actually got to take the menus home! This was really a nice touch, I appreciated the details. We family-styled everything which is honestly the way to go so everybody can try a little of everything! It was majority of our party's first time dining there. We started off with some drinks, I got the Non-alcoholic Guava Mocktail and I got to try what was the equivalent to an espresso martini too. Definitely liked the guava drink better because it tasted like guava nectar juice (kind of like Kerns or Jumex). The Expresso Martini had fresh mint in it and it tasted earthy which wasn't my cup of tea. For food we started off with the Heirloom Tomato Salad which was DELICIOUS!! I don't know what they put in the Vietnamese Green Goddess (probably fish sauce since all the dishes basically had this) but it was magnificent and one of my favorite dishes of the night. Then the Scallops and the Black Cod came out. The Scallops came in a set of 3 and we cut them in half so we could all have a taste. The sauce on this was DIVINE!!! It was citrusy but still really flavorful bursting with umami. I'm literally starting to drool reminiscing about it xD We wanted to keep it to use on other dishes because it was so good. The Black Cod was also delicious. It had fried skin attached and a sesame soy glaze. Next up came the Beef Tartare and the Wagyu Steak. The Beef Tartare was probably the least flavorful out of everything we ordered, but it was still well seasoned. My friend said it was really spicy but it might have just been her bite because I didn't think it was spicy at all. I like that the give you the option of leafy greens or shrimp chips to eat it with. The Wagyu though, was an all-star dish. It was the crowd favorite for sure, we all enjoyed not only the steak but the picked baby eggplants that come with it, and the sauce was phenomenal!! Lastly came the Dry Aged Duck which is what they're known for. It was definitely the biggest fish out of all. You were able to eat the duck with two different sauces, one they called a "Fish Sauce Chimichurri" and "Vietnamese XO sauce" which is more so satay. My friends liked the XO sauce but I liked the Chimichurri better. They had actually forgotten about the side of Buttered Rice but I was told it was incredibly flavorful on its own so we still asked for it. It had more than just butter in it, there was dried shrimp and sesame seeds, and it was made with coconut milk or something because it had a sweet but savory taste to it. I saved some of my duck and Wagyu to eat with it which was actually pretty good. Overall I liked that they brought out the dishes from lightest to heaviest and especially after they brought out out 2 sides of Buttered Rice we were all satisfied and full. It was the perfect amount of food. Honestly EVERY dish was different but amazingly dank and I think it's the fish sauce in everything. They were also sweet and kept the cake we brought in the fridge, placed the candles on it for us, and even after we sang they cut the cake for us!! 10/10 would recommend coming here for not only the food but the impeccable service!! Since we had a larger party there's an automatic 20% gratuity already added to the bill, which came out to be $555! (Look at that angel number!)
