fresh and delicious authentic pho in redwood city downtown! the servers were so nice and attentive, and the pho itself was great! i had the steak and meatballs pho, and the broth was very flavorful, and the beef was tender and fresh. all the ingredients felt very well prepared and delicious, and we had an overall great experience! the restaurant itself is less modern, but i find that it adds to the authenticity of the experience. the pho is also a bit pricey, but not bad for the location and the quality of the food!

Small family restaurant that has a big menu. Staff are very nice and the food is good. I tried the beef Pho it was tasty. Everything was fresh and clean.

I've been coming to this place for several years now and stopped coming during the pandemic. I recently stopped by and had lunch with my sisters on one of those hella cold winter days. We each bought a chicken pho and I added meatballs to mine and made it a large instead of the regular. After a few minutes the pho was out and we were ready to eat. I couldn't really tell the size difference except for mine being the only one with meatballs. In the photos you can tell they don't look different in size. This was my top favorite spot for Pho in the peninsula because of the richness of the beef broth and the overall flavor of the pho. Service is good. Not much to it but order and get your food and pay. This last visit I was so disappointed with the flavor of the pho. Watery chicken soup. Too many noodles not enough chicken or meatballs. Extra meatballs were $6.50 for 6 meatballs. Each pho was about $16.50 (5 phos , 1 spring roll was about $105 without tip). I've had $17 pho and this is not even comparable to that. I've been a fan from my first visit but over the years the flavor has declined so drastically it's no longer in the rotation of pho I eat anymore. Prices are rising that makes sense with the current times but make it make sense. Continue to deliver quality and price is not an issue.

Pho noodle soup has no taste and noodle are so broken. Beef stew is not stew, so water down. The grill pork does not have any lemongrass taste. This is the worst pho restaurant I have experienced. Services is good and decoration is not bad. Will never come back again.

Been going to this place for a long time. But will not continue. Ordered food for our lunch and a live cockroach came out of the salad eating the lettuce. Called the restaurant and they said they can remake the food but no refund. Check your food before eating them.

I'm Vietnamese, I've eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants in the South Bay and in Vietnam. I'm going to cut it short, this place is not good. My first warning sign as that a majority of this menu is written in English instead of Vietnamese with English translations. I was surprised to find they sold banh xeo here, and while it is a large crepe, I find it very disappointing in terms of taste of both the crepe itself and the fish sauce. Also, not very often do I find this served with mostly chicken. I find that it is a way to cost cut from using more expensive and tastier meat options. I got their beef pho and while I ate the whole thing, it is very bland, very weak beef flavor, and for some reason they cut the noodles?! Like it makes it so much harder to eat properly. I think my biggest gripe is how much everything costed for what was being served here. 18 dollars each for the crepe and the pho when it's this bland is kind of insulting considering a little further drive to San Mateo or Palo Alto gets you Gao and Pho Ha Noi. Service was okay, nothing special. It was not busy on a weekday dinner time.

Stopped by this place on a weeknight because my girlfriend and I were hungry and didn't want to cook. We were on our way to something in Redwood city and needed something quick. Besides, for a cold night, a bowl of warm pho usually hits the spot! Overall, it's not much to rave about but it's decent pho. The speed of service does help when one is in a rush. We ordered 2 B17s that only come in a large. Well, I've had larger larges. The flavor was alright, nothing really to gripe about. However, both our pho barely had any beef tripe in them when it was labeled with beef tripe. Lastly, there was a very odd smell coming from the soup spoons that are given to you when ordering pho. It was something along the lines of a detergent smell? All in all, for a quick bite, Pho Dong is alright. Price is a tad higher than I would expect at a pho establishment like this but we're living in some inflated times I guess!

Since the pandemic, I haven't written a lot of reviews with quarantine in place and all. Now that things have settled down a little in the county, its time to go out and enjoy restaurants again ! Okay, if you use their restroom or just head to the back where the cashier is, you can see a whole wall of accolades, which are rightly awarded! Upon coming in, you're greeted by who I assume is the general manager/owner; and he's super friendly too! He was greeting the street cleaner and struck friendly conversations with not just me, but also the other diners. He's also very accommodating. For the food, if you think the portions are too small then order a large ‍ the small portions are PERFECT. Add the veggies in your soup like you're supposed to, you'll feel full. The broth was rich and light , not oily or greasy or racked with sodium that I felt food coma. It's really good! This is one of the few places that I can acknowledge and say that it's better than someone of the well known LA pho places I used to go to. Overall: all the staff here are friendly and the food is amazing! Definitely will be back :)

Very disappointed I Ordered on door dash and found a live bug in our food upon arrival I already felt this place was overpriced and this is just unacceptable

There are not many authentic Vietnamese options in the area so I was happy to see Pho Dong. During the pandemic it's still take out and they have established a table by the front door with a menu you can see. I went with a straight forward option of grilled pork over vermicelli that typically a rest like this should be able to get right. Overall the staff was nice, the food was okay, nothing to write home about and not of the quality and quantity I would expect for the price. On the other hand it is tough now with overhead etc so I get it. Probably not going to be my top option for pho or Vietnamese food.

    Spring rolls

Nice atmosphere. Clean and well tended. Our server was patient and very nice. We had spring rolls and I had beef pho and my friend had a pork banh mi. $44.44 for the meal. Not horrible nowadays. But not awesome. Her sandwich was apparently oddly sweet. The roll was more like a Kaiser bun but warm and made her happy. The carrots seemed to be in a mayo preparation. Not just fresh carrots. Didn't see any of the liver spread. So. Not a traditional sandwich. My pho was good. But the broth was a little oily. It was just ok. The meat was nice and very lean. Spring rolls were odd with their slice of pork. The peanut sauce was just ok. All in all I will stick with my favorite Pho Vinh but this was nice to try.

Bánh Hỏi Sharing Set came with vermicelli, lettuce, pickles, and fish sauce. We chose the grilled pork sausage, roasted pork belly, and sugarcane shrimp. Everything was delicious except for the roasted pork belly, which lacked the crispy skin we hoping for. Grilled Eggplant was pretty bland and mediocre. Holy Prawns with Vermicelli was my favorite dish. The vermicelli soaked up all the prawn juices, making it even better than the prawns. We also ordered the 5-Spice Chicken with Garlic Noodles ($32). The garlic noodles were satisfying, but the chicken tasted like an ordinary rotisserie chicken. I don't think this dish worth the price. Pork Ribs with Coconut Sticky Rice and Pickled Carrot was another disappointment. The ribs were tough and didn't easily pull away from the bone, making them difficult to eat. The coconut sticky rice, was surprisingly delicious For drinks, we tried the Cà Phê Trio, which included Corn Milk Coffee, Salted Vietnamese Coffee, and Pistachio Coffee, all served in cute little jugs, none of the three really stood out. Pandan Coffee was also underwhelming. Other than its green color, it tasted just like a regular Vietnamese coffee, with very little pandan flavor. Service was disappointing. Since we ordered many dishes to share, our plates quickly filled up with rib bones and prawn shells. We asked a waiter to replace our plates, and although he nodded, he never came back. We eventually had to ask another server. Overall, the food was hit or miss. A few dishes were enjoyable, while others were not, and the prices were higher than what the quality justified.

He's also the person who makes all sorts of accommodations -- thanks Jerry to putting our takeouts into pots and not containers. His upbeat energy, friendly spirit, and can do attitude makes it so easy to grab food on a lazy weekday evening or a busy weekend. We order the same dishes every single time: Beef pho, chicken pho, BBQ pork spring rolls (my favorite!!), Hainanese chicken and rice, garlic string beans, chicken cabbage salad, and chicken papaya salad. Can't go wrong with any of these. Extra one star for the service!

My Vietnamese friend from out of town once brought me here and told me it's her favorite pho spot in the Bay Area! She was surprised the restaurant doesn't have Vietnamese owners. However, I think their rare beef pho is THE BEST in the area. Super tender. Their portion size is big, so I usually share a large rare beef and meatball pho with my husband. If we are really hungry, we will add in an imperial roll too. Apparently, for imperial rolls and the butter tofu appetizer, you can order half portions. That's really great to know because we are always debating whether to order because we can never finish. The fried butter tofu is also delicious. We tried it for the first time today. We also tried the wine sauce oxtail pho, and it is so good. They cook the oxtail for 4Hrs+. Over the years, we've tried a variety of items and all are solid, but the ones mentioned above are the standouts. Also, their service is 100!

Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!

We can't really complain, but it also wasn't memorable enough for us to come back. The broth was decent, but if you're a pho lover, you know the broth is what makes or breaks the experience and this one just didn't stand out. After lunch we went grocery shopping, and that's when things took a turn. My husband suddenly started sweating, and my stomach began making all kinds of unhappy noises. We hadn't eaten anything else that day, so we suspect something from the meal didn't sit well with either of us. That said, we can't say for certain that the restaurant was the cause.
