I have to give this place 1 star because while their food is actually pretty good, they mask the flavor with loads of MSG. I know restaurants cook with some MSG but Pho Ha pushes it beyond all levels. I was really thirsty and my heart was beating really fast shortly after eating their bbq pork plate. I never drank so much water in my life after eating from a restaurant. The service was good and the food came out quick but I do not like the flavor and the aftermath of eating there. This was my second visit here and if there is a ZERO or negative star option, that's the rating it would get. My first visit, I went there later in the evening with a friend and we were about to sit down but later asked to sit closer to the front door since it was close to closing. Okay, normally not a big deal and understandable, but the dining place is as big as a large living room. In any case, their service was OK and their food was OK. I would give them 2.5, maybe even 3 stars for my first visit. THEN, the second visit from today. I asked for a meat combo pho soup but asked if I could only get a certain type of meat only. Now, normally when I go to to other PHO restaurants, the establishment usually gives me more in the type of meat that I want when I decline the other types of meats. This place is not like the other places. Now, I can understand if they don't give me exactly he same amount of meat but the amount of meat they gave me filled one soup spoon. When I asked about this, they asked the owner in the kitchen and said that that's how much it is and that the owner would come out to speak with me. After about 10 awkward minutes, the server came out with a small bowl of extra meat that again, fit in one soup spoon. But what I'm most disappointed about is that the owner NEVER came out, even after a couple reassurances from the servers that he/she would. This place is a RIP OFF with service that has gone from OK to lousy and an owner that does not care about his/her customers. The name of this place Pho HA is exactly that, It's a laugh and joke of a Pho establishment. My recommendation....DO NOT go here. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

ENVIRONMENT: I believe this is a Vietnamese family-owned restaurant. I've been here a couple times and the workers don't always wear the same uniforms/clothing. Usually they allow you to choose where to sit. FOOD: It's average. One time I ordered the #1 pho with everything in it, and it took about a half hour to arrive - after both my friends had already received their food. Portion wise, a small is enough to fill me up and I usually can't finish the soup. SERVICE: Mediocre. One time I went in, a customer who ordered to-go was angry with one of the workers, a lady. The customer got even more angry when the lady accused him of possibly putting in soy sauce with the food (he was allergic to it) - and that is pretty bad...hence the 2 stars. read more

Cold and rainy and trying to fight off a cold means, it's Pho Time. I've been wanting to try this place since I saw the sign that they were opening. Although some of the reviews on here are suspect (so many with no "friends" or few reviews), I decided to try it. They are located right next to Denny's and are visible from the street in this newly redone shopping plaza (they did a great job in squeezing in so many new stores). The decor is nice and clean as well as it should be since it is new. There's about twenty tables and a large screen TV. I purposely came in between lunch and dinner time to avoid any crowds. I was seated quickly and after a quick scan of the menu, I ordered my usual seafood Pho. It came in about 5 minutes. The bowl was huge and filled to the brim. First thing I noticed was the soup was darker than the more recent bowls I've had. As someone mentioned, it was a little oily, too. It tasted good. No funny after taste. Lots of noodles. It was lacking in the amount of seafood. Not like the photo in the menu at all. Good bowl of Pho. I think it helped me a bit in getting rid of my cold. I was looking for something close to the gym that would have decent hours and luckily, there was Pho Ha just down the road. I ordered my usual spring rolls and pho and both arrived within minutes. The rolls were fine: a lot of shrimp and not too much mint. I liked that. The pho was really big and had loads of meat, however I only ordered the rare steak and well done flank and when it arrived, it contained an assortment of other meats that I know I didn't order because I always order the same thing at every Pho place I visit. I wasn't upset about it, but I did try to eat around it (not a fan of tendon or tripe). As eating around the thin, fatty meat became exceedingly difficult, I gave up. It was plentiful, though, I will give them that. Lots of noodles too. The price of the pho was a little high for my taste but I had gone with the large because it was only like a $0.40ish difference. The rolls were way over priced and I wasn't a fan of being charged double for what I normally pay for spring rolls at other restaurants. The building itself was nice but I fear that that may be this business's only basis of appeal. That and the location. Service was fair, non personal, but to the point. Frankly, there's better pho in Orange County and this one isn't worth the trip but if you're in the area and have a craving then knock yourself out. read more

Being Vietnamese and having eaten the homemade stuff my whole life, the food is actually pretty good. 2 stars because the service sucks so bad on a regular basis. I live right around the corner so I come here for the convenience, but you almost have to trip an employee as they run around to get any attention. Simply raising your hand, looking them in the eye, and saying, "excuse me" usually isn't enough. They look very busy with people waiting to be sat, but if they would stay on top of their tables and bring a check when people were done, it probably wouldn't be a problem. read more

The reason I am giving pho ha two stars is because their consistency to give poor service. Whenever I want pho, I come to Pho Ha with hopes that their service has improved since my previous experience. Time after time, the service is always lacking. Me and my girlfriend were given menus, no order on drinks, quickly took a glance at the menu and waited with the menus closed to indicate we were ready to order, but still no service after waiting for an extensive period of time. No offer to refill our waters, so we had nothing to drink half way through our bowls. As far as the food, it was good. One thing I do have a comment about is the lettuce in the spring rolls. It is priced at nearly $7, and the quality was standard. The lettuce overpowers the spring roll, transforming the roll into a hand-salad. Pho Ha needs to supplement their food with good service for a recommendation. read more

This is one of my favorite places for the PHO and other Vietnamese food. I love this place because of its strengths over the other restaurants in the area. First, The restaurant is very new, well-decorated. Specially, it has a good-view patio - I really love to sit outside to enjoy the atmosphere in the sunny days :) Second, the service is so excellent and they always try to satisfy the customers' demand at best. I remember that it was my mistake to place the wrong order but they finally change for me without any complaint. And this strongly impressed me. Quality broth, which is what's really important for pho. It was really packed, even though my party came in at 8pm on a Sunday night. At least their food gets turned over decently. My friend ordered his soup with no cilantro, and we were a party of 6 in a packed restaurant. They correctly remembered his soup preference, so that's quality service for you. read more

This place has really good pho & bun bo hue . Not sure why it has 3 stars I feel like with the taste of their food they should deserve at least 4 stars .. Their broth has pretty good flavor and I love that I don't taste the msg in it . Cause usually I get a headache after eating pho with msg in it but I don't get it from here so that's a plus !! It is a bit more pricey than if you go to Westminster but I guess we have to consider its in a great location and rent is higher in brea for being in a plaza like that . For some reason I came back to try it out. Rare steak pho was decent, but maybe it's conveniently off the fwy goin home. But the last couple times and today was very disappointing to say the least. We walk into the restaurant maybe five servers but don't acknowledge you.(it's a Sunday afternoon) not full house couple tables. They're talking behind the counter by register. Fast forward... I order my egg rolls which came out rather quickly.. like instant seemed as if they had them under a heat lamp. Usually they are prepared when ordered and takes more than a second to come out. Our water had many many floating stuff? Idk what was in it. They never came back after delivering the food?!! I understand that all the condiments and silverware are on table but can someone ask if we need anything or even the check?! U have to go up and ask for check. At the suggestion of my boss, I went here during a weekday for lunch. Pho during a rainy day sounded perfect, right? The food at Pho Ha is pretty decent. Everything is season well and was well made. Our group had ordered their house special pho, chicken pho and the charboiled pork rice dishes. All of the food had been satisfying and delicious - I had the charboiled pork rice dish and everything was cooked well and flavorful. Unfortunately, while the food was decent, the service did not match its level. I tried to maintain a pleasant and calm demeanor, however the service was very slow and very unresponsive. I tried to give them leeway since the lunch rush slowed the service, but the service took a long time. I waited as patiently as I could, but when I would ask for things, they would look angry and upset that I was disturbing them. Now, I'm pretty chill customer, but some of the other customers were angry at the lack of efficiency that the servers had given. This place is pretty good. I came here around 10am and the place had a few tables already occupied. After checking, they open at 9! Pretty early, but I'm definitely not complaining. I had their small pho with lean well done meat and It did not disappoint. It's not the best I've tried, but if did hit the spot. The broth was pretty flavorful and the meat was good. It should also be noted that they inly have a small and large sizes. The small was pretty big, so I can't imagine how much bigger the large is. I give this a 4star rating for a Vietnamese place in this area. Obviously it doesn't compare to the price and flavor of pho places in Garden Grove, but sometimes you don't want to drive 15 min down there and avoid all the crazy Asian drivers. Pho Ha is a great overall Vietnamese food joint. What I love most is their extensive menu. Pretty much anything I'm craving, they have and everything has be decently good. This place has actually been a savior to me during my 50 days of vegetarian. Pho is obviously the choice here, but feel free to try something new like vermicelli noodles or crispy fried noodles with veggies. Everything has been very satisfying. The one thing I probably would not recommend is the broken rice plates...they aren't truly broken rice and the portions are a little meager. Convenient place for pho or bun in Brea, right off the 57 fwy. The seafood pho is kind of sad because they never give quite enough seafood, it's mostly just soup and noodle, but the amount of shrimp they give with the BBQ shrimp bun is definitely enough. I normally get the BBQ shrimp bun and some shrimp spring rolls. Ingredients are fresh and the noodles are plenty. When we're feeling extra special, we'll order the salt and pepper spicy shrimp. Super tasty - the seasoning is pretty good, not overly salty, and I don't even mind eating some of the shell because it's fried and fried things are the best. The waiters are typically very friendly and quick. Not my first choice for pho or bun, but it's convenient and not bad! read more

Pho Ha is a solid place to deliver that quick fix or cure your hangover if you don't want to drive down to Westminster. I have tried their Pho Ga and that was terrible so don't get that. Okay so the pho was delicious, but the only thing i dislike was the overpriced pho bowls. All the pho on that menu was listed as ONE price only. it was either 6.25 for a small or 6.95 for a large. It's a dollar extra for extra meat and such. The appetizers were around 6 bucks for 4 eggrolls. Small portion of Thai Tea for 2.50 D: The decor was nice, inside was very quiet, and small. At the time I was eating the pho here, I thought it was pretty good. The service was really quick and friendly and the pho tasted delicious with plenty of meat included. But, the main reason I don't think I will be returning too often here is the MSG aftereffects were beastly. I started to doze off a half hour after the meal was over. Then I really knocked out for a couple of hours into the night. I don't normally do that after eating pho, so I suspect it was caused by the MSG. The pho is good if you can tolerate MSG. What I really liked here (it might seem trivial) was the water. They added orange slices into the pitchers of water so there was a citrus-y flavor to the water that was a real nice touch.
