PanPan Wok was a complete miss for me. We stopped by on a Thursday around 6 PM for dinner and discovered that it's a self-serve only at $5.99 per pound. We were expecting the classic budget-friendly Chinese takeout experience where portions are packed generously. Nearly half of the food options were either running low or completely empty. There were already a couple of groups waiting for fresh items to come out, and during the roughly 10 minutes we spent there, one customer was still waiting for an entree to be replenished. As a promotion, we received two free sesame balls for purchasing over 2 pounds of food. Unfortunately, they tasted like they'd been sitting out for quite some time; oily, slightly soggy, and overly chewy. The rest of the food was underwhelming as well; the noodles in particular lacked flavor. It was also a warm day with temperatures in the mid-80s, and the dining area felt noticeably hot. My coworker brought me here during lunch time, but half of the options were empty, not the best management considering it was lunch time, and have limited time. Minus a star for that. The teriyaki chicken needed a little extra sauce due to the meat being a bit dry. Coconut shrimp had the perfect feel to flavor balance, if you can dig that. The chow mein looked funky to me but tasted great. The yellow rice was throwing me off as well, but came with plenty of flavor. I was sad to see they ran out of steamed fish and it was going to take a little for her to bring out the new tray. This will be my reason for visit #2. I've been coming here awhile. I used to say it was best authentic Chinese Food in area. They would give you portions like they want to over feed you or give u leftovers. BUT NOW! We recently discovered this spot while in the area to pick up some Wingstop. The food overall is a-okay but we keep coming back for the standout steamed fish and stir fried vermicelli noodles. It's like an upgraded Panda Express but you get to decide how many of each dishes you want since you pay by the pound. Currently if you go over a certain weight (forgot how much) you get a free soda can and two sesame balls. There is also an additional 10% off discount right now. Food stations have been clean and service has been very friendly during our past three visits. My non-veggie eating 7 year old also loves their veggie egg rolls. I'm not gonna lie-several of my neighbors have some really poor judgment, and it became obvious it clearly extends to their taste in Chinese food as well. This place was pretty bad. Unfortunately, something has changed, possibly new management, and our last couple of visits have been a letdown. Most recently, my husband and I picked up food and were pretty disappointed across the board. The beef broccoli had almost no flavor, and the texture was off -- more like boiled beef than anything grilled or stir-fried. The green bean chicken had decent flavor, but the green beans were so tough they were nearly inedible -- not just undercooked, but hard to chew. The orange chicken had a nice flavor, but the chicken itself was extremely hard, possibly double-fried to the point of being unpleasant. But the biggest disappointment,, The chow mein. What we got definitely wasn't chow mein -- it tasted like overcooked, mushy ramen noodles with no flavor at all. If we lived closer, we definitely would have returned the food. Worst experience ever. I came in to pick up an Uber Eats order, and the lady at the counter told me to wait fine. But then she just stared at me and started talking in Mandarin with the other workers while looking at me like I didn't belong there. Super obvious and disrespectful.
