Super disappointed at this Pho restaurant's poor customer service. First, when we walked in there no one greet us. I did an eye contact with a lady who was sitting way back corner..(I guess she is a manager or owner) pointing at a table with her chin (like seriously?!?!?!) so we both sat down. No one tend to care at all and didn't even get us a menu until I asked the one of the server. Second. Ordering food was ridiculously. All I wanted to order is a pho with no protein and a shrimp spring rolls. I ask the guy (manager?!) that I wanted to order that and he said he doesn't know what I am talking about?!? Like how? And walked away and helped door-dasher. (Super rude) and I gave him the number (on menu) and then he finally understood. We got our food, and food was okay. After we got our check, and paid with cash. I paid exact amount. The guy manager came and told us that "if you are not gonna tip us, you can just take your meals to-go because it looks bad if I don't get tip" like seriously?!?!? We usually tip after we pay on top of a table before we leave.. so we told him that and he ended up apologizing but that is a huge no no definitely not going back there ever again! read more

It's located right next to Creamistry. I came here a couple times and each time I got the Pho Tai. The small is a little too small so I'd rather pay the extra 50 cents and get the large. The broth is alright but it's not amazing. I don't like how they toss the noodles in right at the end and it's all blocky and hard when you get it. The minute you walk in you can smell the veggies cooking. Egg rolls are great to start with. Any soup you get is great, even if it's basic noodle soup with no meat. Fried rice is good. They also have a sizzling tofu and vegetable dish. They only issue I have is their soda is in cans. All and all, I keep coming back, great place! read more

I will forever miss my eggrolls that were given to the table next to me. I watched them approach 10 minutes after my food came and 10 minutes before my wife's food arrived. Attention restauranteurs out there, our area, Yorba Linda, Brea, and Fullerton BADLY needs an AUTHENTIC CHINESE restaurant! If I were in the food business, I would have opened one yesterday! The last thing we need is yet another mediocre Vietnamese, which is practically the only Asian option besides sushi and a couple of Thai places. Due to desperation for any good Asian food, we decided to give this newest kid on the block a shot. We arrived on a Sunday evening and the place was packed. I looked around and saw one owner lady and two servers on the floor. It doesn't take a trained eye to see they are severely understaffed. The decor was above average for a Vietnamese restaurant, but as usual, they had fake plants and fruits prominently displayed in the front. We ordered the Cornish Hen with Red Rice (mistakenly called Teriyaki Chicken on the menu) because it looked good on our next door table. Indeed it was. Our famished family polished this dish easily. Then came the Sauteed Beef on a sizzling plate, which I saw many tables ordered. The sauce was tasty but the beef was underdone and the portion small. Our rather disappointing Pho came much later with tiny pieces of rare steak on top. I did not like the noodles they use. Still hungry, we ordered the sauteed water lily vegetable, which was a great value at under $5. The service gets one star. No smiles, no professional attire, no apologies for forgotten food. We would only return for the Teriyaki, I mean, Cornish Hen with rice and their stir fry water lily. And yes, we were all dying of thirst that night due to MSG overload! read more

I come here a lot and I think it's kinda ridiculous that I'm finally making a review about it but here it is. I like this place, the food is just how you expect it every time. Never too busy so you get good wait times. My issue is that I specifically ask for no white onions every time I come here. Whether it's mobile or dine in I always state no white onions. When I get my food they left off the white onion but also the green onions and cilantro. No where did I state that I didn't want the other toppings. Today I got very specific and said I still wanted the green onions and cilantro in case they were going to leave them out, the bowl I got today had both onions (green and white) but no cilantro. I even tipped at the register because I was specific with my order and he read it back to me at the register. All I want is a correct order and some consistency, but I guess that's too much to ask. read more

My favorite pho joint without a doubt is Pho Ha in Rowland Heights. So when I moved from there to this area over the summer, I was pretty happy that there was a Pho Ha in my new neighborhood. However, when I finally went, man it was a big letdown... The warning signs were apparent from the beginning. White people attracting nice decor. hip ambiance, and mostly white people eating inside (sorry, I don't have anything against you white people, but you know you're in trouble when you walk into a pho joint full of them, lol). Missing were the monolingual awkwardly groomed Vietnamese male servers that add a special touch (literally) to your bowl of pho. I know, I know, what do you expect in Brea, right? The actual pho was very average. I was so sad this Pho Ha was nothing like Pho Ha of Rowland Heights. Weak in flavor and not worth coming back, at least for the pho... They should shell out some money and get some better MSG! Because the place is clean, has good service, and is open pretty late (10pm), I will be nice and give them a generous 3 star rating. But Brea Pho Ha, maybe you guys should buy your broth from the Rowland Heights location!!! read more

Wow there's a lot of Pho-king bad reviews for this place. But also a couple of good ones from some yelpers I trust, so I gave it a shot. I'm not sure where all the hate is coming from, they gave me a Pho-king good bowl of pho. I ordered simple Chicken Noodle Pho so that's all I can report on. The chicken quality was pretty good and tender. Sure I've had a more perfect slice of white meat chicken at other pho places, but sometimes that can be dry. I'm guessing these slices of chicken are somewhere between white meat and dark meat. Meaning it's not coming directly off the breast. But I'm sure authentic pho isn't made with white meat chicken. You need the dark meat to enrich the flavor of the soup. Before jazzing up my bowl of pho with a combination hoisin, sriracha, and chili garlic sauce, I always enjoy some of the pho by itself. I found the soup broth to have a depth to it that other Pho houses I've been to have lacked. Some here on Yelp have attributed this to an excessive use of MSG. I have no idea if that is true. I don't have any negative reactions to MSG, so to me the argument is as silly as some hipsters talking about Gluten free this and that. Maybe Pho Ha is just making a better broth than other places. I sure liked it. Cilantro and thin slices of onion were already in the broth when it was brought to the table. The usual spread of bean sprouts, Thai basil, and jalapeños were on the side. I also found their rice noodle a little on the lighter side and less starchy than other places. I usually don't finish all my noodles, but these disappeared. Another major yelp complaint seems to be the service. Truth is, it wasn't great. As with most of these places, I got the feeling that everyone working there were extended family or friends of the owners. Which means they aren't a professional wait staff. Seems they were all fresh off the plane (who is really going to take a boat from Asialand anymore?) and English definitely isn't their first language. All of this is ok for me. It's a $6 bowl of Pho, I don't need my napkin perfectly spread across my lap for me, while saying "very good sir." I do however need a clean table, which I had to ask them to do. Yes they should have seen that the table was sticky and cleaned it up without me asking them, but they did it and that's that. Also after they cleaned it I realized that some of the "stickiness" was actually the finish on the granite tables coming off. It was the stone itself that felt rough in parts, and not spilled dried up soup on the table. The decor is nice here and they've really done a lot with the space. When a PHO craving hits during the work week, I have to recognize that I'm not remotely close to Garden Grove or Westminster. So trying to find a tolerable PHO restaurant in Brea often becomes a burden. I know what you're thinking. PHO reals? YES. Here are a few things I've noticed. * Convenience and easy access. You're in and then out. However, the venue used to be a lot cleaner when the place first opened, but now it's getting a bit grimy. * Service is coordinated by what seems like college kids who'd rather be at school than working there. I'm not here to spark up a conversation or make friends so I don't really care as long as my food comes out within a reasonable amount of time. * Well done beef, rare beef, or lean brisket. Those are the only types of PHO that I can keep down. * I haven't tried any of the noodle or rice dishes, but I often see other people order them so I'm assuming that it couldn't be all that bad. Sometimes, I order the egg rolls, but it's nothing spectacular. Just your garden variety. * The MSG is here, there, and everywhere so you can't fool yourself or anyone around you. You know exactly what you're getting when you come here so don't have lavish expectations when it comes to the flavoring. I really enjoy PHO. This is a weekly spot for us and boy does it hit the spot! I get Pho with rare steak and lean brisket and my friend who is vegan gets Pho with vegetables (#73) and vegetable broth. Always hot and fast plus they have the most refreshing water on the planet. The Pork sandwich and spring rolls are also favorites of ours. Great customer service greeting you at the door and immediate seating. Their seafood pho is great for lunch. Its light and tasty with shrimp, squid, and fish balls. Order the small... its almost 2 quarts. I was so full after eating here and my entire lunch was under $10! This Pho place use to be very good when it was established a few years back. I use to come literally once or twice a week. But the last couple of times, my experience wasn't so great. The Pho use to be AMAZING and now dropped to just mediocre. From the flavor of the soups to the texture of the noodles. A really great, nice pho restaurant in Brea. This makes me so happy. It's a nice restaurant with great atmosphere, nicely decorated. It's not a greasy spoon typical pho place. The last time I came I ordered a large pho tai. First thing I noticed was the rare beef was cut into smaller pieces to create make it seems they give a lot of meat. All of the authentic pho places been do not skim on beef not to mention try to fool you by cutting to smaller pieces. The soup base is just so so nothing special and the price for large is now $8.95 which is on the high end. The only thing that this place has going for them is the location and the modern interior. So the place looks a little nicer than your average pho place, but the servers look like they should be in a hole in the wall. The service is poor, some of the bowls and spoons on our table were dirty--my spoon had dried bean sprouts on it. The pho is loaded with msg and the broth is mediocre. The only redeeming qualities are the price($6.85) for a huge bowl, and the quantity. Our group of 8 each ordered pho and they came out slowly one by one, with about 20 minutes between the first bowl for our table and the last. Pho Ha, I can't really give a complete review or give any ratings since I never had the chance to enter. I was kicked out, along with my friends, because apparently my friends and I weren't welcomed. Why? I am still trying to figure it out. It really looked like a nice little restaurant and I was looking forward to finally trying Pho. Unfortunately I was kicked out by the owner or the entitled. I still haven't figured out what it was. All because I said "geeze." So here's my long story. Warning, sarcasm and F bombs are included. So, we enter the restaurant and I signed our name and how many are in our party on the notepad they had laid out on their counter. A tall oriental Amazonian woman with her small mother, I'm assuming, noticed what I did and rushed to scrawl her name in this weird fashion next to mine. I thought it was unnecessary and quite rude what she did. So I said, "You didn't have to do that. You could have just put your name down and just put an arrow above ours or something." She responded, "No its ok." Without looking at me and turned away from me haughtily. I whispered Geeze. That's it. The least offensive thing I have ever used to defend myself with. The woman spun around as if I have called her a racial slur. But I didn't. Geeze. So, she spun around and demands. " What did you say?" " I said geeze?" She became so angry and raised her voice to say, "You have no right to talk to me that way." I laughed and said "umm, yes I do. I have the right to say anything I want to say." She began to talk with her "mother" in their language and I just stood there. I still don't know what she was most mad about. Me saying geeze or claiming that I actually do have rights. I don't know. So she goes on saying that I shouldn't talk to her like that and I don't have the right to talk to her like that. Like, she actually started to get in my face and points at herself to emphasize that. I exclaimed, "what the F?" (Don't know if I should spell out that word. But hopefully you got it.) She gets so mad and yells back at me, "How dare you speak to me that way!!Get the F out of here!! You're not welcomed here!!" I actually got confused at this point. I didn't realized that she own that restaurant. Which is exactly what I said. Admittedly, I did say it sarcastically. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't realized that you owned this restaurant." At this point i started to get pulled away. But not before she bit out that I was "low class." I laughed and said, " Really? Low class?" Because really, people still use that word? And I don't remember any of the staff there assisting in any way. I don't blamed them. She looked psychotic and probably was just hungry. I don't know. So that was my experience. And I don't know if I'll ever get to try Pho. I believed I am never welcomed to try that because I seem to have lost all my rights as a low class. read more

Terrible, terrible experience !! The entire wall was covered with bugs! We started eating when suddenly my kids started to freak out because there was a bug on their spoon, then there was another one crawling on my wife! Next thing we noticed they were all over the table and on their wall, we told a lady and she did nothing about it so I waived down the gentleman that served us our food. He deducted a soup from our bill which was nice of him but that still doesn't make up for that terrible moment and the scare that my kids got. I've been here twice and found both visits mediocre. Both times I ordered the Pho Dac Biet sans tendon and tried the springs rolls as well as the egg rolls. The broth is the main attraction of any bowl of pho and I found mine... well, lackluster. I was searching for the deep, distinctive, well simmered soup with all the essences of a hearty broth, but was disappointed. The spring rolls were fairly ordinary and were wrapped with fresh ingredients so nothing to complain about. The egg rolls, on the other hand, were satisfying. The large, crisp egg rolls worked wonders with the lettuce leaves, julienned carrots, daikons, and mint. The service is extremely unorganized and it took some effort for us to flag down a server. However, the restaurant is clean and located conveniently close but I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes to dine at Olivia's Bistro for exceptional service and consistently solid pho. read more

I don't know why I hear so much hate about this place, I don't think it's any worse than average. Whenever people tell me about a better place, it's always like 30 minutes away. For something as simple as a bowl of pho, I'll take the convenience and cleanliness of Pho Ha comfortably. The setting of the restaurant is typical Vietnamese restaurant fare, but is new and clean and pretty comfortable. For some reason, I always feel cold when I go in here so bring a jacket if you go in at night. Service is fine. I always get the bowl of pho with rare steak and crispy brisket. It's not the most flavorful broth available, but I'm always pretty happy with what I get. Dinner here averages around $7 for me, which isn't cheap for pho, but I'd be spending more money on gas to find cheaper pho anyway. In conclusion, Pho Ha is good enough. read more

The only reason I didn't put 5 stars is because we had to wait a very long time for our "to go" order (something was missed so they had to re-make it. In all fairness too, they were very busy. (But that's a good thing if you see a place that's busy!) Plenty of tables were still open if more people had walked in the door, there was still no waiting time to be seated. Since we had to wait, it was a pleasant night, we sat outside and waited and chatted. Still enjoyed ourselves.... Our "to go" order was the steak and brisket pho and the egg rolls. (Four big ones come) everything was delicious, we thoroughly enjoyed the cilantro, mint, bean sprouts, hot sauce, noodles and broth and meat that you sort of "put together yourself". We would definitely come here again. One side note is that for the egg rolls we added our own sweet chili dipping sauce , that we liked better than the one provided, but my teen still did choose their sauce so it was just a matter of taste. I had to work on black friday and was a bit sad but when I saw the now open sign at Pho Ha it sort of made my day. I have been looking forward to the grand opening for awhile now...I read an article about new places opening in this plaza and Pho Ha and Panera was the two I was looking forward to the most. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch last Friday during my lunch break, i was very excited to see if this place is any good. They had just opened their doors on Thanksgiving day so everything is completely brand new. I was surprised to see quite a few people here during lunch being that it just opened the day before. The menu was very nice, had lots of pictures which I like. I ordered the broken rice dish with shredded pork, baked eggs and bbq pork. My boyfriend got the bbq pork and egg roll vermicelli. The broken rice dish was delicious...i usuallie never finish it at other restaurants but i did finish it here. The portion was perfect and the bbq pork was extremely good. My boyfriend enjoyed his dish and agreed how tasty the bbq pork was. Service was very fast and everyone was very nice. The decor here is modern for a pho restaraurant and everything is extremely clean. Location is perfect since i work near by, so i will be coming here often for lunch. This is one of the best vietnamese restaurant in this area outside of Garden Grove, i've tried the other vietnamese restaurants in brea/fullerton and i can say...they suck compared to this one. read more

It's really saying something when your reviews constantly bring up the cleanliness of your restaurant. While that is an admirable factor, it is also an expected standard. You don't invite guests into your home without a scrub down, and you certainly don't invite paying customers with a sh*tstorm. Anyway, here's the lowdown: - The service is SLOW. I am a huge fan of Pho Ha. They have the best beef stew compared to any other Pho restaurants. I usually get my order with french bread. My children love it too which is very rare; they don't like to eat period. Also if you're an egg roll lover like me....try it here. You will not regret it. It comes with plenty of lettuce to wrap and fish sauce to dip ^_^ My husband ordered his usual - large bowl #1 and ice coffee. He finished it in no time which is a good sign if you ask me... This will be our pho destination go forward. However, we'll have to make a point to try some of the other items on the menu such as vermicelli noodles and rice dishes. Understaffed. The restaurant needs more workers to accommodate for all the guests. The pho was rather pricey. The broth tasted like salt water and lacked flavor. Food= GOOD Service= HORRIBLE I've been coming here for a long time. Only the people like me who can handle the bad service comes here if this is the only pho place you know that tastes good. Today, I finally found out WHY most of the employees ignore you whenever you call them out even when they're only 4ft away. Today, I said "excuse me" to this lady who is putting food down at the next table. I needed to tell I got the wrong order. She ignores. (It's not even loud today in this restaurant) I say "excuse me" again. *Ignores* And Again. *ignores* Is she REALLY ignoring me? By this time, after coming here for years, I finally got fed up with getting ignored EVERY time I come here so I tried something new. I yelled out louder, "EXCUSE ME" and everyone in the restaurant looked at me, EXCEPT FOR HER... It was incredible. She still ignored me... O_O And like few seconds later, THEN she turns and looks at me for a second of a second, turns back and walks away!!! This made me SO MAD. Like WHY! Why do these employees do that??? Then a different waiter comes running for service. I asked him if the lady was deaf. And he said no she doesn't speak English. SO AT THIS PLACE, THEY TEACH THEIR EMPLOYEES TO IGNORE CUSTOMERS AT ALL COST IF YOU DON'T KNOW ENGLISH, NOT EVEN GIVE EYE CONTACT OR AN "OK" OR SIGN TO ASSURE YOU THEY'll GO SEND OTHER ENGLISH SPEAKING EMPLOYEE TO COME TO YOU. After this experience, I felt so mistreated that I'm starting to hate this place. But I will still handle having the patience of waiting so long to just order food when you come in here, and having them ignore you, and taking SO long to get something you need because the employees are just chilling and standing there even if you wave at them. THIS HAPPENS EVERY FUCKING TIME YOU COME HERE. But I will still come for the food maybe after months later because I'm still upset. I live in La Mirada and we don't have that many Phos around here. I just discovered this a couple of weeks ago, and I kinda love it. The food quality is just as good as those in the Bolsa areas. The service is fast, but don't expect much in the peak afternoon hours when customers waiting in line in the cold weather (trust me, I've been there). The restaurant itself is warm, cozy and ambient. Some of my friends say that this one is better than Pho 99. Well, I recommend that you give it a shot ;) read more

Their pho is bomb! I would like a TAD bit better service, but aside from that they are awesome!

My favorite place for Pho I SWEAR! About 6.25 per dish, regular size and it's freaking HUGE! It's kinda overwhelming when you're hungover, but if you're super hungry, it's suitable! I had a couple dishes from here: -Seafood Pho (gives you more than just shrimp, fish balls, fake crap mean, squid AND shrimp). -Grilled Shrimp Bun (a lot of fresh vegetables, FRESH, and more than 6 grilled shrimp) -Spring roll with peanut sauce, you can never go wrong. Vegetarian Pho w beef broth. Broth is descent. Tofu is not deep fried. More broth than noodles. Came with basic veggies ( Straw mushroom broccoli carrots ) no bok Choy. Pros Broth was very hot almost too hot. I'd had pho literally from West Coast to East Coast and in Vietnam too. Plus my mother-in-law makes good pho as well. I've had great pho and I've had crappy pho (e.g., the pho I tried to make from scratch, oops!) The pho here was as good if not better than any restaurant pho I've had. I ordered a large bowl of #2 which I believe included flank, tendon, tripe and brisket. I also ordered a jackfruit smoothie (with pearls). *I tasted the broth before adding any sauce. EXCELLENT. Temperature was hot, but not scalding. Nicely seasoned, although a tad bit salty, but not enough to complain about. *The plate of rau (salad greens) they serve included the standard faire of basil, bean sprouts, lime and jalapeno. Onions are already put in your bowl for you. *The noodles were probably undercooked a little (I'm being super picky though) *The jackfruit smoothie, yummy, but not enough sugar. And yes, I am a sugar addict so shoot me. To most people it's probably sweetened just enough. The pearls were also nice and chewy. I went in with low expectations and left seriously impressed.
