I love this place ! Friendly owners and wait staff, I feel like having a relaxing dinner at a friend's house. I enjoy conversations with the owners too, unlike most restaurant owners they are very interesting with diverse interests and community involvements. I like dessert first, so Three Color Dessert it is, the coconut milk is tasty and not too sweet, served in a glass with 3 colors of beans and shaved ice, healthier and lighter than a piece of chocolate cake for sure. $3.75. Pretty reasonable. The iced French coffee goes well with any meal in the summer, try it hot in the winter. A jolt of cafein, it wakes you up and gets you going. $2.95 I really like their Crispy Pancakes, I have had these here several times, so crunchy ! Served with lots of fresh veggies, herbs and fish sauce. Tasty and definitely guilt free. Very healthy and light. $8.75 This is a full meal, I am definitely so full but don't feel heavy. Other dishes I have tried are : Hue's Spicy Beef Noodles and Lemon Grass Soup. This dish is so good in a Portland rainy day, it makes you warm all over. I like a small bowl for $7, that's a meal for me ! Bach Mi Dac Biet, great when I am in a hurry, I take it to go, a yummy sandwich to take on the max to go hang around town. $3.50. I ask to leave off the hot pepper, don't want to bite into those, not fun, unless you are used to hot hot hot Thai food. This sure beats grabbing other food in a big hurry. Not a positive experience here. Walked in for a weekday dinner, zero people in the dining room. Looked for a table, very few were clean (crumbs, etc). I sat myself and my guest and waited 5 mins real time before I got up and rang the bell on the counter. Only after ringing the bell did I see the first other person in the restaurant. Young girl handed us menus. Fast forward to the ordering process - we tried to order but the young girl (waitress) didn't speak basic English. An older woman came out and translated. Soup prep/cooking time took 2-3x the length of other nearby Pho restaurants. When the food came, the soup was good. My order wasn't perfect (language barrier) but I went with it. When we asked for the bill, we tried to explain to the young girl what we wanted. No English. Older woman had to translate and process our check. A really poor experience. GROSS!!!! This is beyond gross. I think out of everything I've tried in the Portland area, this is the WORST (which says a lot cuz everything else sucks too) They put soooo much MSG that it gives it a sweet taste. My mom cooks. She makes bombass Pho. And when we all came here to eat pho, she remarked how much MSG was in the food. It was so gross I took 1 sip from the soup and that was IT. DONE. Never going to have Pho Hoai again!! I think Pho Nam in Hillsboro is better. Not good but better. But I guess anything is better then sipping a bowl of MSG. read more

The people that work here just crack me up....I love talking to them because I was adopted from Vietnam but don't remember much of it at all, and I enjoy talking to them about where they've been, all the community service that they do, how they help the people in Vietnam...they're just amazing people. I found this place when I visited my best friend in Beaverton. I like the laid back atmosphere and the great customer service..not to mention I can call them and order and pick it up within 10 minutes. I always get the Pho (vietnamese soup)...the one with everything in it. They have great prices for their food, and I believe they close about 9pm??? I rate pho based on broth because I like my pho simple, I usually order it with no meat, just noodles and broth. I think theirs is really good. The real thing I will rate this on though is it's spicy noodle soup. My partner gets it and he's obsessed. They omit the blood cubes for us since we are a little less adventurous in that aspect of the dish. The beef in it is so tender and tasty. read more

I was born and raised in Vietnam. I've been in Portland for 7 years and I've tried many Vietnamese restaurant. My favorite Vietnamese dish is the barbecue pork and shredded port with rice and fish sauce (we call it com tam). This place makes the best shredded pork, it tastes like the one my nanny used to make for me. The first time I tried it I felt like crying because it is so hard to eat something that tastes like home-made to me. So after that I come back very often especially after I moved to Aloha area. I come to eat that dish when I am up, down, sad, happy, healthy or sick. You know what makes the dish even better? The broth that comes with it, we Vietnamese love soup or just clear broth with any meal. They make the best broth ever, it's clear, smells good, not too sweet or salty. I always ask for extra. The people that run this place are sweet too, I love them. About Pho, I don't care much because to me, nothing tastes like the one in Vietnam because the noodles are freshly made everyday, that makes a big difference. I recommend you try their bbq pork and shredded pork plate with the broth. You will be happy after having it! Great coms - light yet filling with generous amounts to tuck in. Try their C1 or C0 from the menu...they are the best amongst the coms. The phos are great too...really flavorful! The owner/staff are really sweet and welcome you like family. Also, in the appetizer section their salad rolls are nice and fresh and one portion of those can make a person's dinner! Im a pho newbie (and I don't even think what I ordered is pho) but it tasted good. I got the mi quang, which came out in a giant bowl! The soup tasted great. I wasn't thrilled about the pieces of beef in it (fatty) and it only had 2 pieces of shrimp, but otherwise it was good and hit the spot. Delicious and satisfying food in a calm and quietly pleasant atmosphere. This family restaurant saved us from hunger when the sushi restaurant was closed (the one in the same shopping center & one we tried to find beforehand called Wassabi; I'm pretty sure it had a double s?). The polite and professional son seated us and answered questions and also helped cook but his pretty and nice mom (main cook) brought us our beautiful and aromatic phô bowls. It was really good and we were really happy. The broth was so good I picked up my bowl toward the end to slurp the savory soup rather than waste effort with a spoon. We also had an orange juice and Italian soda which were yummy. They have nice big chopsticks for your noodles too, which I liked. Our total with drinks and two appetizers was about $33. It's in a sort of sunken half circle strip mall area, with limited entrance and exit but lots of parking. It's in between a Goodwill and a Sesame Donuts. Wonderful place to catch a Pho dish before or after shopping at FuBonn Grocery Store. Tasty, clean, service a little slow at times but the people are nice. They usually never bring the bill - so you go up to pay at the counter and remember your table number so they give you the correct tab. Food is quite good - reasonably priced and remember to ask for a fork if you can't manage the noodles with chop sticks. read more

Conveniently located close to my house, which is awesome since we like to eat Pho once a week. We are seated immediately, and within 5 minutes of taking our order, my Super Bowl has landed right underneath my salivating mouth. Clean, prompt and friendly, this is one of our favorite Pho places in the area. I just wish they would give us a little bit more veggies. The pho is always good. Not great, but consistently good. The salad rolls are generally good. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean, but I generally get it to go. Several times a month when im home. It's close by and I've never had a bad meal from there. My daughter always likes hers as does my wife. read more

The lady seated us and brought menu and water...no hot tea?? I have seen this restaurant multiple times since I live a few block away from it. I decided to go today in my lunch break. I ordered a beef and brisket pho. It was delicious! The only complaint I have is the menu; it has no pictures so it is hard to tell what you are ordering. The rest was pretty good! Will come back! Pricing was also pretty fair. read more

This has to be the best place for Pho and BBH. Restaurant was clean and service was excellent. I was surprised to see Lamb on their menu, so of course I order their Lamb Stew with French Bread and my friend Rick order his usual, BBH! Both dishes were excellent and definitely filling. The food is OK. It fills you up. My fried vegetable rolls have been burnt on the two occasions that I've ordered them. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but the staff are always kind and they greet you with a smile. So, if I'm on 185, I've no problem pulling over for lunch. read more

Our search for the best vegan pho in West Portland & the West suburbs has led us here. Is it the best vegan pho I've ever had? No, but I'd probably give it second or third place. Honestly, most of the vegan pho I've had around here is pretty bland--understandably, since traditional pho is meat-based, and replicating that rich savory flavor without any animal product can be tricky. That said, Pho Hoai is anything but bland, and honestly some of the most unusual-tasting pho I have had. The broth has something of a sweet element to it that I found surprising but ultimately fantastic. The large serving is so big that my partner and I order extra noodles and then split it--and we can both eat pretty large portions. The fact that you can share makes this place extra cost-efficient, which is important for us right now. Pho Hoai, despite its mixed reviews, is our favorite pho place in town so far. Their Thai Iced Tea is also not to be missed. read more

Lemongrass chicken was yummy but it didn't come with the veggies pictured on the menu. Instead of a side of what looked like sauteed green beans or snap peas, it arrived 2 tablespoons of shredded carrots, two slices of cucumber, and a leaf of lettuce. Those are garnishes in my book. $8.50 seems steep for a serving of chicken and a scoop of rice. But more importantly, not a satisfying meal when you're craving chicken and veggies. Oh well. The waiter did offer to bring me more lettuce, but after that we never saw him again. No drink refills. No dirty plates cleared from the table. No water refills. And we were the only people there aside from a few to go orders. Strange place. My friends sandwiches and pho were tasty. I'll get that next time. read more

I would not recommend eating there. We ordered the super bowl as well as the lemon grass chicken vermicelli. The pho was alright not the best I've had. They added a lot of fatty meats and the meatballs had bone in it which was not pleasant to bite into. The vermicelli lacked EVERYTHING. The chicken tasted old and looked dis colored, they didn't trim the chicken either which contained more fat than meat. The noodles were over cooked and the veggies served with it was what tasted like pickled carrots and old lettuce. Let's just say that we did not finish our meals and do not plan on eating there in the future. read more
