I came in at about 4:30-5:00 PM and found no one was there, I was just looking to get a quick meal to-go and found this little restaurant close by where i work. I walked into the restaurant, the AC was blasting but it was still hotter than the summer day on the outside. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi and the fresh spring rolls. Considering the pricing, I have to give it 4 stars as nothing really beats the price here, however, you could just spend an extra 3-5 dollars and get better quality elsewhere. However, this is a pho place and I didn't order pho, so possibly it might be something that they don't really "shine" on regarding their menu. I paid about 13 dollars for both. The spring roll was made fresh, albeit with possibly not so fresh ingredients as the greens inside were starting to show some oxidation and browning. Came with a peanut sauce and sambal. The banh mi was flavorful but definitely soaked in oil regarding the meat. The pickled veggies were amazing; but the unforgiving part of this meal was how hard and stale the bread seemed to be. I'm no stranger to hard banh mi bread, but this was teeth breaking stale. The staff were great, very attentive and took my order and sent it to the kitchen fast. I got my meal in about 10 minutes. Still; have to show some support to the mom and pop shops.

Really good prices here!!! and the food is so bomb!!! such a lowkey spot which such GREAT PRICES!!! $5.95 for spring rolls!!!!

    Brisket meat

Not a bad pho spot but don't get the brisket. It's super rubbery and not very fresh. The brisket also has a lot of fat which is normal but its was kinda yellow and weird looking. Staff is nice though and the inside is small but comfortable.

A promising new staple just entered the neighborhood!!! I drove by and noticed a new sign and decided to stop by, but the new owners were setting up and told me to come back in a week. I thought I'd be amongst the lucky firsts, but based on the other reviews, they were able to open even earlier! Upon entering, I've noticed it's really clean and they have a lot of tables to accommodate many parties for a quick lunch break. Located close to Anaheim packing district but definitely a better alternative if you consider parking, price, and value altogether. It's the perfect place to get your Vietnamese food fix! With so many options, there's really something for everyone. A must try: the egg rolls. They're cooked with the perfect crunch and served with a side lettuce/cilantro for the perfect balance. I'll definitely be coming back often to work my way through their extensive menu. Will also be frequenting this place on the way home for the quick boba and egg roll combo! So far, my recommendations are the pho, bo luc lac, and egg rolls! Don't skip the young coconut also :)

This was our fourth time trying out this restaurant. Previously everyone there was nice and friendly and food was good so I recommended it to others. However when they went to try it, they got the rude waitress. At the time, there were 2 ladies working there. There was only 1 other table dining at the time. So they weren't busy at all. We walked into have lunch and there was no greeting or thank you even at the end when we paid. Food was also not the same. Please get rid of that rude waitress. She will ruin your business.

Ooppss...i already mixed it rare steak-brisket and meatballs pho

The pork is flavorful and the leeks add to the intense flavor. The rolls are well constructed and the sauce has a decadent umami flavor to it. The lotus salad is also amazing with burst of flavor in every bite. The drunken beef with garlic noodle is very good too- beef is very tender but the garlic noodle serving is very small. I think the noodles also are just ok and can't even taste much garlic in it. The shrimp and crab udon soup is a huge disappointment because the soup is too thickened to make it like a gravy. There is minimal crab. The udon is poor quality and way too soft without a good spring to it. Overall flavor is also too bland. The lychee saketini needs to have more lychee flavor to it. The service: The server was nice but needed to be flagged down. He was helpful in navigating the menu. I wish he came by even just once to refill water. He did check up on us just one time to see how food was. The ambience: The place was decorated to exude elegance. Walking in there is a nice display of dessert choices. I love they have a lot of booth style seating to allow for party privacy. The restrooms look clean ... only don't like the greasy/sticky floor in the restrooms. Overall a nice relaxed atmosphere. Overall a very nice experience and would revisit if im in the area.

Be prepared: this place is incredibly popular, especially during peak hours. Parking can definitely be challenging because of how busy it is. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move. While I'll miss the original spot, I'm excited for the new space--hopefully with more parking! Some places are worth the wait, and Phở 79 is absolutely one of them.

I was meeting my foodie friend there at 12:30. The parking lot has limited space, which made it an extra challenge to park. Thankfully I only had to circle the block once to come back and snag a spot. (Meanwhile, my friend got there before me and was already enjoying an appetizer). Orders are placed at the counter and they call your number once your food is ready. The dining room consists of mostly booth seating with one "communal" table, and counter seating with 5ish chairs. There are also a handful of tables set outside. I've really been enjoying banh mi and their Bulgogi beef sandwich sounded great. I also happen to have a thing for popcorn chicken, so I got an order of that to round out my lunch. Oh, and based on the rave reviews I've read about their peach & lychee green tea, I ordered one of those as well. Let me just say, lunch was very satisfying! The sandwich was generously filled the fresh ingredients and the meat to veggie ratio was perfect. I'm not sure what the green sauce was that they finished the sammie off with but it was SO tasty!! I requested the popcorn chicken with medium heat and it was just spicy enough to leave my tongue tingling slightly. My friend saved an egg roll for me and it was also really good. (The tea by the way was very refreshing.) Now, this was my first time here but I never saw anyone come out to check the dining room or wipe down the tables after the lunch rush. This was especially concerning to me because they had a guy doing work on the windows who put his feet/ shoes on the tables right under said windows. Ewww. But aside from the parking challenge and the table hygiene/cleanliness, our visit was quite enjoyable and the food was very good. We would definitely return, but we'll have to plan around the lunch rush!

What we got: -$7 Salmon belly roll: this dish stood out the most to me with the piping hot, glistening, crispy salmon skin. I loved the crunch when biting into the roll! The fresh veggies helped balance the flavors as well. The portion was very small though- only two rolls! -$16 Garlic noodles: delicious and garlicky, but very oily. The shrimp were big, but slightly overcooked, so they were dry. -$15 Bo ne: a childhood classic! Dip the banh mi in the egg, or layer on a bit of everything in the banh mi for a hearty bite. I was initially won over by the 2,000+ reviews, so I decided to give this place a try. The service was okay, but the overall atmosphere was very much a hole-in-the-wall type of place -- not particularly clean, inviting, or aesthetic. I ordered the pho ga (chicken), and the chicken came separately on a plate in large pieces. I had to use my utensils to pull it apart, as I assumed it would already be cut up, in my bowl and ready to eat. My fiancé ordered a beef rice plate, which he said was pretty underwhelming and lacked flavor. Unfortunately, the biggest issue came after we left. Almost immediately, I started feeling extremely sick. My body tends to react to food pretty quickly, so I knew something was wrong. I had my fiancé rush me back to my apartment, where I ended up getting violently sick and spending the next few hours throwing up and repenting on the toilet. I stopped going to hole-in-the-wall places years ago, but because of all the great reviews, I decided to give this one a chance. Needless to say, I learned my lesson and won't be coming back.
