This is the BEST place for pho in Glendale! I only came to know of Pho Hot after coincidentally seeing it during a drive, shame on the Yelp algorithm for practically keeping it hidden away for the last 2 years. This is a family-run establishment, serving amazing quality Vietnamese food. It seems like the owners of Pho Hot are also Vietnamese, according to other Yelpers. Their service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and the restaurant interior is super clean & cute. My table ordered the house special pho, a plain pho noodle, and a side of the grilled pork chop. The portion sizes were great and everything was cooked to perfection, *chefs kiss*! I really have nothing but praises to sing about Pho Hot. I'm so happy that I can get quality pho in the Glendale area now, no need to drive all the way out to Arcadia anymore :') I only wish they closed a little later but they're open until 8pm. I recommend getting there before 7pm if you don't want to wait too long for a table (the line was out the door on a Thursday evening). I was really delighted to see that this phở spot in Glendale was Vietnamese owned. I am tired of being disappointed by the franchises and fusion pho spots in Burbank. They're always busy and booming on a cold day, so be ready to wait if you come after 6PM. They're usually fast and efficient though, so it's just a matter of waiting for someone to finish their meal. I normally order phở tái with the meat on the side (I like to be able to slightly undercook the meat). I'll order this with spring rolls and occasionally a thai iced tea. Their thai iced tea isn't the best I've had, I think it just needs a little more of a kick (stronger tea perhaps?) but it's still pretty good. I will never had bad things to say about spring rolls, however most recently they ran out of pork. They let us know beforehand and if we wanted to cancel it, they gave us the option. I opted to still order it, just without pork, and it was still great. Their peanut sauce compliments the spring roll well. And the phở tái is always really good. Their broth is on point (take note, Mama Hong's!!!!!!!) but sometimes the noodle is slightly overcooked. It's not end of the world though, and it's only happened twice out of the handful I've been here. This is probably one of the better places you can get phở in the Burbank/Glendale area. The beef slices tasted like filet mignon. The noodles canoodled with the broth,veggies and my sacred tripe making my soup dance on my palate. So I need to say more. It's a pretty decent spot to grab some Pho, but not one of my top places to go to for Pho. I was slightly disappointed by the size of the menu because there really aren't many options. I can definitely understand that having a smaller menu is sometimes better for the business and makes things easier. I had the combo meat Pho, which is likely a #1 like most places. Prices are slightly higher here than most Pho places I've been to. They also don't offer multiple sizes like most other Pho restaurants. I often judge a Pho restaurant based on the type of spice racks that they have to dress the broth with. They had a few items, but I'm used to a huge selection of spices/peppers/etc to add to my Pho. I think their pho is better than their vermicelli, but I alternate between the two depending on the weather. I also like their rolls. I've tried their egg rolls (fried), spring rolls (not fried with shrimp and pork) and summer rolls (not fried with grilled pork sausage). Prices are decent. They have a great presentation-we ordered the vegetarian egg rolls to go, and the beef vermicelli. The vermicelli was good-fresh tasting, plentiful peanut pieces, and alfalfa. But their sauce and beef left much to be desired. Let's just say the sauce had little flavor and definitely no fish or vinegar flavor, and the beef was slightly rubbery and not grilled with lemongrass or any sort of marination. The parking lot is crammed, but we found a spot, and luckily the restaurant wasn't too busy early Friday night. I'm so disappointed. I'm Vietnamese and I'm constantly in search of a pho restaurant that is both great with service and taste. So far, the only one worthy of that is Golden Deli in San Gabriel/Alhambra. I had high expectations for this place so I visited it during a weekday lunch crowd and I wasn't expecting to see so much disorganization. First of all, the main waitress seemed more concerned with the people who weren't seated instead of the people who were already seated. Main dishes came before drinks ever arrived and even then, she got it wrong. The logic is that if you serve the seated patrons efficiently, you can then efficiently seat those who are waiting *later* - ramen rules: get them in and out and then the flow remains constant and you keep making money. That's how Japan does it. Apparently that's not how Pho Hot does it. I understand when a place is slammed for lunch hour but you still need to pay attention to those who are already taking up geography. BTW, your pho is basic, both chicken and beef, your bun thit nuong cha gio is not that special and your goi cuon is just okay. Your servers don't really understand how to listen to the patrons and their orders; they constantly look bewildered. Even as they put out a clipboard to put your name and number of your party, they don't really adhere to it. It's just whoever happens to be in their sight line. In conclusion, this is not my place for local pho. They obviously think they're awesome because no other pho places are there for miles and that's obviously why they treat people the way they do.
