Let me start off by saying that I am an American of Vietnamese descent. So Pho is a very important dish to me. So maybe I've had better pho in the past few years. Maybe my memories has a weird nostalgia effect going on where experiences of the past seem better. Or maybe because I've learned how to make pho recently. But I swear the quality of the pho here has gone downhill over the past few years. Whenever I go to a Pho place, I always get a large bowl of Pho Tai. After one spoonful of the noodles and pho of the Pho Tai at this place, it hit me that something was wrong. The pho broth is significantly lighter in flavor and taste than in the past. Barely any salt nor any of that delicious bone marrow flavor. In other words, a sort of bland-ish Pho broth. With that said, french coffee wasn't too bad. But was a bit overpriced for the amount they give you. The pho was reasonably priced at around $5 to $6. But I've had far better pho (even without MSG for that matter) for that much money before. It's Vietnamese restaurant. So service is so-so like most Vietnamese restaurants I've been too. Don't expect friendliness or very helpful staff. Parking was a slight pain like always as sometimes there is no parking available. So I'm definitely not coming back here. The Pho is not as good as it use to be. read more

The Pho bac is here very good, but with Pho Filet right down the street, I give the edge to Pho Filet based on the quality of meat (more tender, more beefy tasting), and a richer tasting, saltier broth. The regular pho broth has far too much MSG in it for my tastes. This fact that the pho is served from metal bowls did not at all influence my rating, but I will say that I found it very strange. It is ok. I ordered pho Bac, my sister and mom ordered the tai nam. The soup is just ok. Good service and happy servers.

I got the number 9, tai nam sach, which is what I've always ordered at pho restaurants. Let me start off with the taste of the pho. The soup was very bland and there was barely any meat or noodles, just mainly soup. When it comes to soup, I can definitely taste the differences within each one. The service was horrible. As we walked in, a man told us to sit down and as we sat down, he set the menus on the table. He came back with 2 glasses of water but he just set it on the table and walked away without saying a word. WE had to tell them that we're ready to order and even when he was taking the order, he didn't say anything. Not even "okay and for you?" When he brought our pho out, he set it on the table (not even knowing which is for who) and walked away. It felt like I had a server who wasn't able to speak. For as many boba places there are in the 626, there are just as many Pho noodle soup places as well. Pho Huynh is one of my top picks to go to. Came here during lunch time and ordered what I think everyone orders since it was #1 on the menu and in bold letters. Personally I like the noodles served at pho huynh compared to the normal thin noodles served at other pho restaurants. The broth is delicious! I always order extra onions, everyone should! Definiately will come back to Pho Huynh, get place for that "hangover remedy" or when I am sick, because truthfully that is the only time I go out and get Pho. read more

Service : wasnt greeted when walked in , servers attitude was a downer asked for a fork a couple times guess they forgot Food: i ordered the pho bac (#1 on the menu) with thin Noodles i guess it orginally comes with thicker white noodles loved the ginger it compliments the meat very well the only thing i didnt like was mu noodles were overly cooked so it was soggy . They also have spring rolls and egg rolls but no rice dishes or other vietnamese dishes. Location: they have a parking lot in the back and you can also street park as well . My favorite pho place in town (and I don't even like pho)! I've been coming here for some time now and I'm happy to see that this place is getting the recognition it deserves. I just stopped by this past Sunday morning before going on a road trip. Parking was easy to find. Although in the afternoons it's a little harder, you can park on the small street on the side. They have just remodeled! The place is a little more modern and nicer now. Service is always very quick here, which is another reason why I love this place. I can always count on getting in and out within 45 minutes with a happy tummy! In addition to their remodel, they have just added new dishes to their menu! They used to only just have beef pho but now they have pho ga (chicken pho) and mien ga (glass noodle chicken soup). I can't wait to try it next time. I saw a few people get it and it looks good! Every single time I come here, I get the same thing. Pho Bac- filet mignon pho with ginger Side of beef balls It never disappoints. What I love about this place is their satay sauce on the side, you can put it in anything or on the side to dip! It's delicious! I like to put it on the side with hoison sauce. I may not be qualified to review this place because I've only been here once and only eaten one thing. But what I had was probably the bes Pho I've ever eaten. We live all the way in Pasadena, so this place isn't exactly around the corner. But we decided to come all the way here after hearing about how great this filet mignon Pho is. It's even better than they say it is. The broth is a rich dark color, and it tastes so beefy and flavorful. The filet mignon defintly gives this broth that extra beefy flavor. The meat itself itself is very tender and flavorful, but they don't give you very much. I just cannot stress how good this broth is. It's almost as if your drinking pure cow extract, it's that beefy and good. Based on the Pho alone, this place is amazing. I have never had Pho this good in a restaurant, ever. read more

Since the chef of Pho Hien moved over here and started his own business, this place had become the de-facto standard PHO place in SGV (while pho Hien, as we all know, is dying). Decent decor and price is reasonable, around $5-7 per bowl (they've raised the price slightly since opening) A few tips: - Like for Hien, all they got is beef PHO (so don't come here looking for anything else, they don't even have the chicken version of PHO). - Parking is bad, so avoid the lunch crown if you can - Inside is quite spacious, they've just opened another dining room so you're likely to get seated right away, and service is ultra quick, too! read more

I ate the Chicken Pho, it was just alright...and my friend agreed. The spring rolls were a bit bland, I thought the sauce would help but that was not so great either. It was ok with Siracha tho. Undoubtedly this is the worst pho in SGV. besides the pho being bland and unappealing, the customer service or lack of it sucks. While we were trying to eat the tasteless pho, the mailman dropped mail in their mailbo and like 2 toddlers, the 2 waitresses raced to get the mail. Not only that was bad, they topped their childish antics and tried to lock one another out by holding on to the doors. 160619, 10:30am, Father's Day...... I ordered #2 large pho dac biet. beef broth was cloudy not clear. Large bowl looks regular size compared to other Pho restaurants. Tendons are missing but replaced w hard cartilage, I have never had cartilage in pho before, this the first! Beef slices w large amount of fat. Small portions for vegetable condiments. Jalapeños slices are dried, most likely been sitting out for sometime or from the night before. I'm sure this restaurant was good before, but they're cutting corners in quality and it showed! Pricing has been modified on menu and it's not worth it. I can't recommend this place, if you're craving for Pho, try a different restaurant and pricing will be mostly better. Looking directly across Garvey Ave, people are waiting to in Pho Hai (I think). We will give them a try next time for pho. read more

Can't remember how many times I came here over the past few years, but it's delicious! Service is efficient, and you get your food in a timely manner. If you want something quick, this is the place to go to. I always get the Pho Bac, which is the filet mignon noodle soup with thick rice noodles. The beef isn't fully cooked when you get your order, so make sure to break it apart and mix everything together. I really like how the broth is clear and not too salty and oily compared to other places. The other thing I enjoy here is the spicy sauce. Always have to put a few scoops into my soup to give it more flavor. read more

I can't totally remember the name of the other Pho Bac place we usually go to, but it was closed today, so we wound up at PH. Troi Oi, talk about happy accidents. And happy endings. PH has a lot of things on the menu, but none of them are the usual accoutrement you would expect to see at a pho place like goi cuon and cha gio ('we no have,' i overheard). PH has pho on the menu, and little else, and with good reason. I had a hard time finding the Pho Bac Filet on the menu until I realized that it was spelled out in huge typography at the (very top) of the first page, even above Pho Dac Biet Xe Lua. House Special Pho Bac Due perhaps in part to the fact that this was my first meal of the day and it was 4:30PM, Pho Huynh offered up one of the best bowls of Pho I've ever had in the States, outside of a private residence. The broth was complex yet light, laden with hand-cut wide noodles done perfectly and plenty of tender rare filet mignon, accented by slivered ginger in the Bac style. Sawtooth herb (ngo gai) was present and get this ... it comes in a big metal bowl. All praise Lord Pho. We'll be back. read more

I don't know if I'd ever give a pho place anything more than 3 stars... because pho isn't amazing food to me. I go on a cold day when I'm craving soup and/or when I'm sick with a cold. And because I work in an area where the only soup options are pho. They only serve pho here, so if you're looking for more Vietnamese fare, keep walking down or up the street and you'll hit something very soon. I ordered the filet mignon pho, because I'm still not excited about raw meat floating in hot water. The filet is fully cooked. The broth is good, but I'm not an expert and very unpicky about pho broth. As long as it isn't very salty, I'm in. It had a good portion of meat, tons of noodles, and of course the generous side of fresh basil leaves to toss in to your liking. It's around $8-9 for the filet pho... and that's kind of on the expensive side for the type of restaurant, the location, and the quality. Although there were a lot of pieces, they're very thinly and roughly sliced. I'm not 100% convinced that it's truly beef tenderloin, but you don't come to a pho hole-in-the-wall to complain. Service is good... and extremely quick. It was probably 3 minutes after ordering when they brought the bowl. It's cash only, by the way. It's hot, it's good, and very quick. They have great customer service and the food portions are really good. I couldn't even finish a small bowl. They got me a wrong order and when I told them they fixed it for me which was very nice of them. It also tastes really good. It's not like the other Vietnamese noodle restaurants where they use really bad beef or meat. Their meat is actually pretty good. read more

What is up with all the 5 stars. Do these people really know how a real bowl of Pho should taste like? I know the owner/main cook of these restaurant for many years. He used to cook at Pho Hien restaurant (a few blocks down) and when Pho Hien sold to another owner, this cook/owner guy quit and opened his own restaurant. I came to visit him and tasted his Pho and only went back once or twice for the last few years because I think the pho here is ok but not good enough for me to come back often. Pho Hien was better then this place before the last owner sold it a few years ago to go back and live in Vietnam. As for Pho Huynh, I give it 2.5 stars and .5 star bonus for the owner being super nice to me whenever I come. read more

Place sucks.....like the prostitutes that hang out nearby. The food is really really pricey and way bellow average for the area (which is really ethnic....u can get better food for half the price really really close by.) Just a soda ran $3 and pho was $12. The service sucked (typical for real asian places......but most asian places in the area give good food and inexpensive prices) On the good side: The place had nice tile on the inside....if u go to restaurants to check nice tile....this is your place. read more

Pretty busy place, their parking lot gets full quite often, so you may have to try to find parking on the streets. The place is quite big, there is an extended portion of the restaurant that they use when the main part gets too crowded. Smaller menu, which was nice, had the Pho Dac Biet, it was ok. Not very flavorful, a couple pieces of meat. You can get a quick meal here, they are pretty fast, service wise. read more

tip: park in the back. closes at 7pm daily. Ordered number 4 which is $6.25 for a small. The place is rather roomy and clean. Ice on the ice water melted way too fast suggesting there's not enough ice in the water to keep it cool. the lack of ice is fine but they also skimped on the bean sprouts which is a travesty. The lemon is also on the small side. First thing you do when the bowl of noodles comes to you is taste the broth first with a spoon. With that said, the broth is on the salty side for the first taste. It didn't change after. Broth holds everything together and when its salty, it really ruined the entire meal; not to mention it was oily as well. At least the brisket was tender, but there were too many fatty pieces. I've been coming to this place for years but I haven't gotten around to writing a review. I normally get take out but a few days ago me and my brother came and sat down. The service was fast and quick. I got a regular pho bowl and the amount of meat they give you is pretty darn great! I love dipping my meat in the hoisin and siracha sauce I mix up. Yummy! I don't understand why my dad was raving about this place. It is supposedly his favorite all time pho place. Apparently they ONLY sell pho, no com tam (rice dishes) or bun (vermecilli) I went with my parents and he ordered me Pho Bac (Filet Mignon pho). It came in a beautiful, stainless, silver metalic bowl. To be honest, my usual pho is Pho Tai Sach so I can't really judge on their pho. It did take me by surprise that the noodle isn't pho noodle but rice noodle (white, thick, and flat). The ambience is very modern with traditional photographs. Their pho does come with a lot of meat. I like their sam bu luong. Either way I should try it a second time with their pho pai sach. Watch out, I'm coming for you pho huynh! read more

We only ever come here because it's the only place we know to serve pho between hiking in Pasadena and home. The filet mignon pho is not as exciting as they claim it to be. I think the bowls are on the small size. Bowls only come in small and large, but the small is really small. There's a good amount of meat for it being a small, but there's not very much in terms of noodle. and so if you think a small is enoguh, tit's actually not going to tide you over. We ended up walking across the street to Mr. Baguette for an after-pho sammich. This place is strictly pho and nothing else. No spring rolls, no egg rolls, nada. And the broth is a little on the bland side. But at least it isn't heavy on the msg. Oh and the water is very tappy. read more

OK personally this is not the best place for Pho IMO but I do come here a lot since the person I come here with loves the places and swears by it. So the place is decent; Broth is good, Portions are reasonable, service is adequate, nothing special from any other Pho place besides their special #1 of northern style Pho serve in Steel-Aluminum Bowls. Three words: FILET. MIGNON. BEEF. Who cares about the parking, what time they close, what neighborhood it's in, how clean the bathrooms are....we're here for the pho and only the pho (because that's all they serve lol)! My family always brings me here when I come visit from Chicago. The pho is unlike anything we have here in Chicago where the best pho place is mediocre at best. This place definitely ranks at the top of my list for all time favorite pho restaurants. I love the wide noodles! So much tastier than the usual thin pho noodles and something about them makes them so much fun to eat. But the filet mignon beef is what truly makes the dish - so soft, so tender, so melt-in-your mouth (literally) spectacularly deliciously yummy! Tell me where else you can find filet mignon beef with your pho?! no really - please tell me if you know of another place :) And pretty cheap too (compared to Chicago). BEST PHO EVER! Only complaint is that they put wayyy too much ice in the soda chanh and cam vat (orange juice). But I'll still be back next time I'm in town! read more

BEEF!! LOTS AND LOTS OF BEEF! This place is known for it's filet mignon pho. They're very generous with their beef portions, although the cut they use is more along the lines of diced beef tenderloin than filet mignon. The pho is of a Northern Vietnamese style, so the noodles they use are thicker than what is normally served at most pho joints in the area. The soup is not oily, very rich, and pure. The vegetables that accompany the bowl are very fresh and clean. Pho Huynh is a solid choice for a nice bowl of noodles. The parking lot in the back is tiny and the spaces are really small, but there's a lot of street parking along the residential street. read more

I CAME. I ATE. I LEFT AND NOT COMING BACK The Pho Filet mingon aka Pho #2 was ok, the pieces of meat were tender and that was my favorite part. The broth was lacking flavor and i know its because there isn't a lot of MSG, but at the same time if the noodles are already bland you've got to at least add more pizzazz to your soup. The noodles aren't the traditional thin rice noodles, but they're the thick noodles and it just doesn't do the Pho justice. Ordered Pho Bac. Quality has gone down. Some piece of Beef were tough, and broth weren't so tasty as before. Noodles were ok. Just overall dreadful to eat when you expect a good bowl of Pho! Will look for another place to go. read more
