I just moved to Richmond from Sugar Land and stumbled onto this amazing little Vietnamese jewel of a restaurant. I have been spoiled by Pho Ben for years and thought there was no competition for them. Pho Huynh is actually much better, fresher, tastier and the service is unbelievably awesome. To say that I was super impressed the first visit was a surprise. You have the option to do a full order of zucchini noodles or half rice noodles & zucchini noodles and both are delicious! I know traditionally vietnamese rice plates aren't huge, but this was sad... if the plates are going to be this size, throw in a small eggroll and a fried egg option. The ambiance and decor is great. I personally don't enjoy it when the servers and the cashiers are constantly staring and watching you eat because they don't have anything else to do. I've been here twice to really give this place a chance so here it is: fried egg rolls= delish! Everything else= not sure. I know the beef stew is not good. Too watery and carrots are hard. The Thai tea is way too sweet and the tapioca balls are super small and hard which isn't expected. I rather Country Pho in Rosenberg out of all these Richmond pop up Pho places. I have been to many Pho restaurant in the Houston area. This one takes the cake! Authentic, spot on. Lots of flavor. I will be back for sure. Portion sizes are large. I ordered a small and I was able to take the rest of it home the next day for lunch. Highly recommended. I'm disappointed in the one star reviews about people staring? People need to really get up to date on cultural differences. I'm pretty sure nobody was staring at anybody's wire for watching them while they ate in a bad way. I was hoping for a good banh mi as I've had in the past from this place but that wasn't the case. I added wings and a boba Thai tea to the mix. Let's rip into the sandwich. Normally the bread is slightly warm and egg yolk isn't cooked all the way through so it can run through the sandwich. What the heck happened to this place!? Did the owner change? The sandwich was cold. The egg was overdone. The wings were called Vietnamese wings. I expected a fish sauce of some sort but they smelled like rotten fish and 5 wings for $5.99. The crisp was just right but wish the flavor wasn't lacking. These are so close to being perfect but I guess to each there own. Boba Thai tea. The name says it all or doesn't in this case. Thai tea was average nothing spectacular and the tea was brewed just right. The boba however wasn't boba, it was jelly. What a freaking disappointment! Don't say you sell boba if you don't. I really want to know why this place lost itself. It opened and then crashed. That was followed by a very successful grand reopen. Did the ownership change?
