The food was alright. The place was very crowded and you have to walk up to the cashier to order your food. I came here with a group of friends at 1am after a long night only for the guy (who was running the food) to give me the wrong dish which was supposed to go to a different table. The old cashier lady saw and made me pay for that dish, which I ended up doing because I didn't want to argue since it's 1am and it's too late and dark for me to do that. I understand that the guy must be tired, but to run food to the wrong table and to pay for something I didn't even order is astronomical despite it being an honest mistake. If you plan on coming here, expect them to give you the wrong dish and make you pay for it. This is the last time I will be here as there are better places that are much more organized compared to here. read more

I LOVE this place. I go here very often and mostly order the beef pho and pork egg rolls. They never miss! I'm very picky with my toppings and sides and they never hesitate to get me what I need while being so nice. Occasionally I get the fried bananas with ice cream which is SO So delicious, I highly recommend it. I have tried some other plates as well as drinks and they've all been really good. Their drink menu is unmatched with so many options!! This place is usually very busy on weekends and at night. Even when it is busy it usually doesn't take too long to sit and get my food. A positive about this place is that it is open late until 3 AM. We came on a Friday night around 11:45 pm and it was packed. There was a line to place our order. So, first thing you do is stand in line, place your order, grab a number and then find your table. If you want water, it is self-service. Food and other drinks arrive at various times. Since it was packed, our order took a while and each entree came at different times. No worries because my kids were hungry and needed their food asap. This is the first Vietnamese restaurant that I had to place an order as if it's a fast food establishment. No problem. Food came and tastes pretty decent. My small-sized pho was flavorful with plenty of meat. Bun rieu (crab noodle soup) was decent and so was the braised pork with rice. They don't use pork belly like other restaurants but my kid said it was good. They use pork shoulder instead. Not bad but the meat doesn't have that fat to lean ratio and tenderness of pork belly. Flavor and salt level was average. Husband ordered sugar cane juice ($6) and he didn't like it much. The color of the juice was off; too dark and cloudy, but it was sweet. Like some reviewers said, this restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. The chairs and tables were sticky. I would only come back here if other places have closed for the night. read more

Like many other Pho restaurants, Pho Mai has a very large selection to choose from in terms of its menu. But Pho Mai takes to an extreme I've never quite yet encountered and it was overwhelming in a good way. Not only is there a large selection of soups, broth, and of course pho but an equally sized selection of traditional rice plates, tea, boba, shakes, and even a Filipino menu for good measure. Their bowls give a generous amount of rice noodles and a fair amount of the main ingredients for what I ordered. The loganisa wasn't in sausage form like I'm accustomed to but it tasted great. The egg was perfectly fried, and the golden garlic rice waa savory without being overpowering. Definite recommendation with my only real complaint being they don't do free refills on soda. read more

This place was really gross in terms of lack of cleaniness -- you can tell they don't clean much of the restaurant (look at the counter where you order) -- as well as the quality of the food. The lady at the counter will mess up your order too and there's nothing you can do about it. She doesn't show you the screen until after you pay so it had no order details, and you might not get a chance to request a receipt. A friend of mine (who's been to this restaurant many times since it's the only place open late nearby) ordered glass noodles, which cost extra and she didn't bother to tell him they ran out. Instead they gave him a different type of noodle that also cost extra and he had to eat it. I don't recommend ordering the porridge. We initially thought they just brought it out quickly so the rice porridge hadn't fully expanded, but that wasn't the case at all as nothing changed while we waited. They severely watered it down such that the bowl was mostly water and it tasted disgusting. You should be able to find a much better restaurant with the same offerings and price point in Milpitas. This place should be shut down and I'm surprised they haven't yet due to the various health code violations I could see. read more

It's a great light healthy snack. The sauce however was not my favorite. I did not taste the peanut butter and the sauce was very liquid like instead of a thicker sauce. I got number 5 on the menu. This is one of my favorite family-run restaurants! Pho Mai is has such a large range of hours, you can practically grab some food at any time of the day (including the late night hours after a night out). The menu here is extensive and has such a wide variety of items. My boyfriend and I have been coming to Pho Mai for the past 3 years or so and always had a pretty good experience. The staff here works so hard and are always so sweet! I love their classic beef pho, there are no complaints on the flavor for me. One of our favorite rice plates here is the Seafood Tom Yum Fried Rice. The spring rolls here are also one of my go-tos. The only thing I would note is that I wish they offered pickup through Yelp. When we order takeout over the phone, at least one of our dishes is almost always wrong - BUT, the wrong dish always ends up being super good. This is my go-to spot for late-night pho, especially after hitting up bars in the area. The menu is quite large with plenty of options to choose from, they also have specials posted on boards around the restaurant to keep an eye out for those. They're always busy when we go but getting a table doesn't take very long at all. I usually order a bowl of pho and quick tip, order a side of chicharrons to add to your broth, it just adds a level of flavor to the dish. The food comes out relatively quickly and the broth is always piping hot. While it's not the best pho in the world, it always saves me late at night after a slew of drinks :) read more

So, they have super good drinks here. I'm pretty much addicted to this honey jasmine ice tea with sea salt foam. It's amazing and I highly recommend. Their Pho and food is 5 stars but 4 because like Pho place their customer service is not really there but in my opinion this has some of the best broths I've had. My favorite is their seafood Pho w shrimp or the white meat chicken. They've won many awards previously for their Pho and they are pretty delicious I can't deny that. I like how they've upgraded to an iPad to pay. They also make Filipino food, Thai food, and Hawaiian food. I've never tried it but I like that they have an extensive menu. This has been my default pho place for a while now since it's so conveniently close to home. My go-to is the #1 - I love all the meats! Sometimes when I'm feeling saucy, I'll even add meatballs. It consistently hits the spot on a cold day. The broth has great flavor & the portions are great. I always get the small and it's quite filling. They don't skimp on the meat, which I appreciate. I also quite enjoy their egg rolls. Those come out piping hot, fresh out of the fryer, served with fish sauce. They have a very extensive, almost overwhelming, menu, filled with more than just Vietnamese food. They have a smattering of Filipino and Thai food as well. I've ordered the pad Thai a few times and it has been just very average each time. There's not a ton of flavor in the sauce, no kick, which is such a HUGE bummer for me because I really wanted to like it. The service it what it is - standard for an Asian restaurant, which is nowhere near the hospitality and politeness of American restaurants, but you just have to know that you're walking into a different cultural world and accept it. They take credit cards, which is a HUGE win (because not all pho places do). I love coming here for my pho and will continue to do so. This place has gone down over the years. It used to be the place you would go to after a club or during lunch or dinner and you would get decent service and they always had a big menu selection. It was fairly priced but now it seems to be to be a bit over priced. You don't get the service either. You order your food at the cashier and they give you a number. You find your table and they will bring you your beverage and water. I came here with my cousin and her soup came in a timely manner. Then I saw people who came in after us and they were getting their food. After 15 minutes, I went to check and they said it was coming out. I wait d another 10 minutes and still my food didn't show up. By that time, my cousin was finishing up her food so I decided to just cancel my order and ask for a refund. The lady in the front kept insisting it's coming out and I said I didn't want it anymore. She gave me $15 in cash. I told her I gave you $30 total and that was with tip. I ordered the Vietnamese Crepe, bowl Of bone broth and a soda. She finally gave me my refund and I left hangry and pretty upset. I empathize with the staff. I know it's probably family owned and it's tan by elderly folks but they really need to work on a better system. The cleanliness of the restaurant too looks bad and have a lot of upfront clutter. You put in an order, with a few minor specifications, and wait eagerly for your food. In case you haven't figured it out, that student was me and I am very disappointed in the food. NONE of the specifications for my order were followed, all I asked was to leave off the shrimp and bean sprouts. I also had ordered an avocado smoothie which wasn't included, not sure if that's on the restaurant or on Uber Eats. I did try the Pad Thai and it was one of the worst I've tasted. The noodles were dry and undercooked, without any sauce. Maybe a green onion or two as far as vegetables go.
