A few things to consider. First, the tables chairs, floors, and walls had some sort of mildew and there was a sour smell coming from somewhere. I felt pretty gross touching the chairs and table because they were sticky (pulling out a seat you can tell the floors were sticky too) Second, the elderly lady who takes your order up front will try to scam you. If you order from here make sure to double check what you order because she tried to add things that I did not order. She was also very rude, she won't even turn your direction when talking to you and the entire conversation her face is glued to the screen and she'll get mad if you try to tell her that she entered in your order wrong and push blame saying that this is what I told her and if I'm sure if I want to change it (I did not ask for spring rolls or an extra drink, I was ordering for my self and did not need 2 drinks) Third, the food is more expensive than other Pho restaurants in the area, but the broth was very watered down and the vegetables were not washed well (I had water bubbles of dirt on some ngò gai) There were also huge chunks of ice cubes in my durian smoothie. The food here is really good, for really cheap. Big selections on food and drinks and lots of dessert options. We've been here a few times and it's always a good experience. This time we had the Pad Thai which we enjoyed very much (really good and big serving) We also shared a bowl of Beef Rice Noodles Soup, the meat was so tender and the cabbage fixings that came on the side added a nice crunchy texture. After having a night walk around 9pm, this is the restaurant where my bf and I decided to go as they close late not until after midnight. I ordered small cat fish with rice noddle soup as I prefer something light after my usual diner time. And my bf ordered large beef rice noddle soup which is his favorite. Both dishes are good, they are taste light and not too much MSG. It's really feeling good by having satisfied and not heavy meal especially after our usual dinner time. Used to come here once in a while prior to the pandemic because I enjoyed their food. Passed by here and thought I'd get a to go for lunch, since it's been a while since I last came. Price inflation is no joke, but after seeing the drastic change in portion size, I was thoroughly disappointed. Sadly, this place gets a low star rating from me because they have an aquarium full of goldfish without any decorations or plants for the fish to enjoy. I haven't been here in years We, but we wanted pho for breakfast. We came around 845am and they opened at 8. The sign outside and near register says to order at register and dining is outside. Ok, no big deal even though we wanted to be inside. There was another party eating outside at this time as well, so we followed suit. We went back in to ask for it and they said they ran out. Ok. Fine. No big deal, but they didn't tell us that when we ordered or when they brought our meal. They had already charged us for it, I had already tipped them, they didn't mention it when our meals were brought. We had to inquire ourselves. Also, when inquiring about the pork skin , there were people sitting down and eating inside. Like what? Was it my fault for not asking if we could eat inside or my fault for obeying the signs? My quest for Pho continues. We decided to try this after my lone hike to Miguel Meadows. It was around 6pm on a weekend and the biz was certainly busy. So with this in mind I decided that I will give this place another go but earlier in the day to see if one thing changes: THE DIRTY FLOOR. I'm a Pho Ga person so I ordered that for myself in a small bowl. The small bowl here is much smaller than any bowl I've seen. BUT- the broth is super tasty, not salty and it's loaded with skinless chicken meat. Service was fast. In less that 10 minutes after we sat we had our piping hot order was in front of us. Cute matching green chinese broth spoon and re-usable chopsticks. Although I prefer the disposable chopsticks they don't offer that here. The biz does take CC's and their minimum is only $5! Score! Small bow is $6.99 and $7.25 for large size. No medium size. I would go back like I said to check them out again specifically their floors. It was slippery and gross and company almost slipped and fell in account of the dirty floor with spilled broth and whatnot. Otherwise the place looks alive and clean as far as I can see. It must be the end of the day who who cares if the floor is dirty kind of thing. Bt it means a lot at least to me that they care. Luckily, they had a flat screen television that had the news broadcast. Sidetracked me for a while. I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien (Noodles with meatballs with the steak on the side) - $5.99 (Small) + $1.50. So originally it costs $5.99, but I added the steak on the side which was the additional charge. I thought it was alright. Soup base was a little bit bland. Noodles weren't even cooked when it arrived at the table. My meat didn't get cooked all the way still pinkish, but luckily I like my meat medium rare so it was okay. Friend got the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy rice spaghetti soup with flank, tendon, pork blood, and pork ham) - $7.25 (Small). She said it was alright, but on the saltier side. Her boyfriend got the Com Ca Tilapia Chien (Whole fried tilapia fish with rice) - $7.99. He was enjoying his dish to the core bones of the fish. One of my friends constantly urged me to try this place, and I finally had the opportunity to come. It's known for staying open late, plus large portions (particularly if you order XL), plus cheap prices. I ordered #1 on the pho menu - special beef combo of steak, brisket, flank, fatty flank, tendon, and tripe, size XL, $7.79. I was actually hoping for medium, but apparently "medium" doesn't exist - this place jumps from small straight to large! Go big or go home, right? XL is humongous. Though it looks like way more soup than noodle, it's actually a good ratio. Way more noodle than meat, and I didn't particularly like having so many pieces of fat swimming in my bowl. The broth isn't extraordinary, but it'll do. Size wins over taste at this place. The cashier was very surprised and impressed that I finished my entire order. She told me that most customers don't finish the XL. Well, all I know is, I was definitely full when I finished! Also ordered Crispy Garlic Chicken, which came with 5 or 6 pieces. We came to Phone Mai because it was close to Seafood Market and they serve Filipino and Vietnamese food. However, the Filipino dishes are mostly breakfast and a few entree's that I noticed. The restaurant was busy and cramped, the wait for our table was just a few minutes. While waiting @ the entrance, they have about 20 pictures of characters who "dined & dashed" - customers who left without paying... that's unfortunate not just for the owners but for this neighborhood. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with grilled onion beef with grilled shrimp. First thing I noticed when I received my order, my bowl was missing the shrimp and the noodles were cold. I'm used to having the noodles warm or room temp. Also, the onion beef was over cooked, it was tough. Instead of asking about my shrimp, I just made sure that we were not charged. Also, we ordered the rice plates with grilled chicken and grilled beef with shrimp. My family said it was "okay, we had better" The service was quick and the staff was friendly but we had better food @ other Vietnamese restaurants like Vung Tau, Thein Long or Sonny's Cafe to name a few. Her response ... no, They didn't do it right. Basically poured it into a bigger bowl and added a little bit more soup. Banh xeo had pretty good crunchy texture... large random pieces of meat and one shrimp and mostly bean sprouts. Greasy at the bottom of the plate. Tom yum noodle soup... boyfriend likes the flavor of Tom yum and doesn't really complain... Hu tieu nam vang #41 soggy noodles and lacked flavor. About 3-4 thin slices of meat and about 2 shrimps lots of green onions. This place was pretty good a long time ago. Just 2 pieces of cilantro after I said no cilantro, which is pretty good. Spring rolls were decent, but nothing out of this world. I got a peach tea with pearls, and it was absolutely gross. The pearls were so mushy it was the most disgusting thing I've tasted. I told them I didn't like it, so they added jelly. Late night pho. They're open until open 2-3 am. My girlfriend and I went here after a night of shooting hoops at Dave and Buster's. I guess this is a staple phõ place for the night owls. Even at 11-12 at night, it was fairly busy. It's more like a drunk people spot to go to for after the club because it's open so late so anything at that point tastes good. I ordered the beef stew with egg noodle. It wasn't the best I've had. Broth wasn't very "beefy" compared to other places I've had beef stew soup.
