I am a regular at To Chau's on River Street, but Pho Nina was recommended by a Vietnamese acquaintance. We were unable to find any parking the first time we tried so held off for another day. Finally went there last week and the food was every bit as savory (if not more) than To Chau's. The Pho was excellent and the spring rolls were the best I've had. Tip! Cash only!! My friend and I both ordered the vegetable tofu pho. I like when they have two sizes, not all places offer that. I also ordered an Vietnamese iced coffee. They didn't have a drink menu on the menu, so not sure of drink options. Coffee came out quick with our waters, food came out not long after. The pho included broccoli, carrots, cabbage, onion, green onion. The usual, broccoli and carrots were perfect to bite. Typical sauces and garnishes provided for the pho. Funny we didn't know they were cash only! Luckily I stayed while my friend walked over to 7-Eleven near by to take out cash. The nice man said 'it's okay pay next time'. SO NICE!!!!!!! Pho here comes out piping hot and fresh. I didn't feel like eating meat the day I went with my parents so I ordered the seafood pho to eat. The seafood pho came with 3 piece shrimp, 2 piece squid, and 3 piece imitation crab. I ordered the large bowl of pho and this is $13. The pho tasted great and flavorful, but I'm a bit disappointed that the amount of seafood was so stingy. For $13 I wanted more shrimp and squid. All my coworkers from the lunch gang was here today, so it was time to take care of our Vietnamese fix. Got my usually combo #21 with the various meats in it. They also gave us a generous portion of veggies too! I like a lot of veggies in my Pho soup, without it, it just wouldn't be the same. My family and I along with my best friend from high school went to Pho Nina's in Mo'ilil yesterday for early dinner. The inside is great and clean. We ordered the Combination #29 for us 3 and the chicken plate for our son. We also ordered the finger shrimp and spring roll for appetizers. They were very good. and if you know me, I love vegetabless. We ate and it was wonderful. So, when our pho came we were in awww. How big the bowl was and all the meat and vegetables that they served. It was ALL worth the time it took us from Waipahu to get there. and whenever you in that area look them up Pho was very good! I will bring my family here again next week. It was Pho-tastic!! The best place for pho on the island. The broth is very flavorful and rich, nothing compares to it. Spicy beef noodle soup wasn't as spicy as expected but just added the table hot sauce and it made it really spicy. The beef bone they use for the stock base is a must for marrow and collagen lovers. Price varies in the mid to high single digits per order since it depends on size. Ours was huge! Definitely the legit spot for the periodic fix. read more

"Pay me next time!" The owner said to me as I walked in to pick up my take out order realizing that they are Cash Only now! A moment of panic as I wondered if I had any cash on me. I dug in to my wallet and fortunately had some cash-not the full amount but some. The owner said it was fine and I was so relieved. Thank you! He was SO nice! Have been here a few times before and Love their crispy basa fish with fresh, soft rice and veggies served with Sweet fish sauce. Also got a Vietnamese ice coffee to wake me up! There are so many pho places on Oahu but this is the winner of my family's best "phở" spot. The broth, noodles, meats and condiments are all perfect! Generous amount of bean sprouts, basil, culantro, chili and lemon accompanying the hot bowl of pho never fails to satisfy us. Service is always great. This is a NO. I read that the broth was good. No, it's not. My friend and I ordered a medium tofu vegetable pho. We were served the usual vegetables to add in and there was the usual condiments on the table along with containers holding chopsticks, napkins, and spoons. I really wish the restaurant didn't have unwrapped spoons for all to touch. Hello germs. The pepper shakers looked dirty and really could use a good wash. Gross. The pho broth was tasteless and flat. The menu description was tofu and vegetable pho. It should have been called "where's the tofu and sad vegetable" pho. For $16+, the ingredients were skimpy, even in this economy. The food is good, but the service is shitty. We had the chicken salad & spring rolls, they were really good. The chicken salad was super spicy though. Sister had the combination pho, I had flank and beef pho, it was okay the broth was good, the size was good. She did however ask for no onions but they still put onions in it. No one checked on us, sodas were warm, the two tables that got there before us got their food first. Shhhh... Don't tell anyone about this place. For reals. This might be one of those spots that manages to fly under the radar and still pump out some mean food without compromising quality. A true hidden gem as they go. This is my go to before UH games since it's just a short walk to campus. Come for the pho, but come back for the Bun Bo Hue. This spicy, beef and pork based broth is laced with what I can only describe as Vietnamese crack. The depth of flavor to the seasoning is something beyond what you'll find in most pho joints, who typically play it safe with dishes that appeal to the masses. 90% complete with the accoutrements (missing the blood cubes, which my doctor might say is good for me), they execute on a high level. For the faint of heart, their traditional pho is solid, a great value, and delivers exactly as you would expect. I've driven past Pho Nina hundreds of times, and I didn't even know it existed until a few months ago. I came here for the first time with a friend, who is a regular. She ordered a side of a bowl of fat, which is to drizzle into the pho broth. That was a game-changer. Possibly the best pho on the island. The broth is clear and very flavorful. It doesn't leave me super thirsty like other broths do. This is another review I've been putting off because I don't want one of my favorite places to get too crowded and popular. I came for lunch on a weekday, and the entire restaurant was full. The several times I've been for dinner, it was half-full at most. Quite a few people do takeout. Prices are standard. The large bowl is definitely more worth the price versus the regular size. The dac biet comes with lots of meat. The pho is served with lots of fresh veggies, and the chili oil is great, too. Parking stalls are in the back, accessed by the lane next to the school. Just watch out when you go in & out from King St, as it is a very narrow two-way lane. read more

I ordered the combination pho which I thought was pretty tasty. The thing that came to mind is that I thought the portion was much smaller than Pho 88 which I just had a few nights ago. Both pho's were good but Pho 88s portion was at least a third larger maybe a half larger ... and enough for two servings and it was cheaper. I order via Bite Squad a lot so I usually order more food than normal so I can eat something the next day but Pho Nina was just enough for one meal as opposed to Pho 88 which I easily got two meals. Probably the best pho in town. Broth reminds me of the first bowls of pho I experienced as a kid at my friends house in the 80's(made by his mom). A sensory overload comprised of exotic star anise, black cardamom and clove. Flavors an 11 year old never experienced before. Those people have since become somewhat of celebrities in the local Vietnamese/fusion restaurant concept. Their recipes have no doubt changed to appeal to the new "foodies" and new residents who have taken over in recent times. Reason why Pho Nina wins my approval. Wow, their pho is such a great deal, a large goes for $8 and it's really big, they give tons of veggies. A medium is about a dollar less and it's enough or a regular person. The quality of the veggies is so so, basil leaves are not as fresh but do give saw leaf. They are also very generous with the beef, it's double the amount that Lemongrass restaurant in Kailua! The broth is heavy with cinnamon and clove flavors with a touch of smokiness. Not exactly as good as the Chinatown pho places, but pretty darn close. We also ordered the spring rolls, came out hot and fresh, filling is flavorful. Also, ordered fried shrimp, which is also pretty good. I ventured here to the University area to work on my novel @ the UH library on a Sunday. Nothing was open on campus - food wise, so I checked out anything that was cool in the area. I found this nifty Pho restaurant on South Beretania Street, right next to Kuhio Elementary School and the Hawaiian Humane Society is also nearby. There is really no on street parking, since cars are regularly parked here anyway. Good luck finding space for this one. This Pho restaurant is clearly a mom and pop restaurant. I walked in and there was just about 8 tables in this small restaurant. 3 of them were filled with diners and the owner's 2 kids were sitting at the table closest to the cash register. The owner / server was busy tending to the others, so one of the kids brought me a menu, which was odd and surprising, but yeah, that was a first time for that. The service was good and fast, as it can be. This is the first time that I just ordered the Pho without summer rolls or any other appetizers - just to save money. The combination Pho was served in a medium / large bowl and that hit the spot. I felt that the bowl was adequate and the price of $8.50 was ok and average for a large bowl of Pho. Some place can charge up to $11.25 for a similar product. This was one of those restaurants that you would need to get up and walk over to the cash register and pay, instead of waiting for the server to bring the check over to your table to pay. I must've waited a good 15 minutes before realizing that she ain't going to give me the check. That sucks. The prices are good for what they have. The summer rolls are $5.50 and the spring rolls are $6.25. Green papaya salad is $7.25. Overall, this place has seen better days, but they are a mom an pop business, so it's always humbling to support local businesses succeed, even being in humble surroundings tool. Didn't try their pho yet but I ordered the bun cha gio thit nuong and it was delicious. Their fish sauce taste was just right and their cha gio was delicious. Will definitely be returning and will definitely try their pho to see if it's good. Cozy little pho shop in the University area. Seats about 35 people. Fairly clean. Parking in the back or metered parking out front. Service is ok. It's a family owned business so don't be surprised if you find them having a meal in the dining area, sometimes the kids help out when their parents need a hand. The food is pretty good here. We normally come here for their chicken pho or lemon grass chicken plate. Both are terrific choices. Overall, I would recommend this place to my friends. First time here, checking it out. Hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Gonna try their med pho tai. Small place located near the University. It has 9-10 tables that can seat 4-6 each. Friendly workers. Large menu. The pho is average for me, the broth is darker than what I'm used to. Temp of soup is piping hot! Comes with platter of vegetables (sage, lemons, sprouts). The Spring Rolls were good! Straight from the fryer, served right away. It's fulfills your pho craving if you're in the area, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here. read more

Tucked away on King St. (across of Sushi King and the Humane Society) is this little gem. If you blink you'll miss it so keep an eye out. There is some street parking but also a small lot behind the building too. When I walked in, it reminded me of the kind of neighborhood spot you'd go with your family where the food tastes homemade. And sure enough, that's exactly what Pho Nina was like. The restaurant is just the right size, very clean and orderly with friendly staff who made you feel welcomed. There is a nice selection of options beyond pho, but on this day I was craving some good and hot pho. The broth was seasoned just right, with the usual assortment of veggies to customize your bowl. I slurped the whole bowl and wished I had a little more!! We also ordered some summer rolls which were fresh and seemed to be rolled just for us (since my pal didn't like a lot of veggies). My friend and I been going to Pho Nina quite often lately. My coworker, Anh Thang, introduced me to this place and I'm hooked since then. The both here is very good and authentic. The noodles texture is better than many places as it's not soggy. The owner is very friendly. They don't have liquor license so he told my friend to go to seven eleven near by to get beer. He also suggested some dishes that go well with beer. I tried beef salad and shrimp fingers. My friend who is Greek fall in love with the shrimps and beer combination.
