Even though this was my first time having one of the rice dishes, I absolutely loved it. I got #43 (broken rice with shredded pork, pork chop, egg cake, and fried egg). There were so many different flavors and textures in the dish. The shredded pork added saltiness. The pork chop was juicy and flavorful. The egg cake was soft and airy. Then, there were nice pickled vegetables that added a crunch and some acidity. Combine that with the broth that they give you, and you have a perfect dish. We came towards closing time and they were out with our food super quick. The staff did not rush us out even though we stayed a little after their closing time. We went to Pho Pasteur to eat on a Sunday as a large party, and although it seemed pretty busy, the service was relatively quick. There were many tables and open spaces. The waiter seemed new and got confused on some of the orders, but we still got our food eventually without waiting too long. We ordered the Bun Bo Hue (thick vermicelli with lemongrass beef broth, sliced beef, sliced pork, pig feet and blood cake). It was pretty tasty, but slightly sweeter than what we are accustomed to. We have given this place many opportunities to redeem themselves and have finally given up. Their pricing is a bit steep, however the food is OK but what really ruined it for us is the service. We have to ask numerous times for refills, lemons, or other items. Went for lunch on a whim and really enjoyed the pho. My sister got a bahn mi. They had buttered the bread so unfortunately she had to send it back but they were really nice about it. This place is a little hidden gem in a once dead shopping center that is thankfully being revived. I'm not really sure how we found it but I'm glad we did. My husband loves the pho, we've actually been there three times in two weeks just for that. I had it the first time and it was so yummy. This has got to be the most saltiest Com Ga Roti I've ever eaten. They don't even have a special sauce for dipping or even the standard Nuoc mam gung (ginger dish sauce) that usually comes with this dish. Instead, They give you soy sauce! Are they lazy? Do they even know how to pair sauces? Even the red rice that came with it was over cooked, hard and felt like tic tacs! I was definitely disappointed in the dish. I even mentioned it to the front and the lady and server laughed. Smh. I was trying to give them honest feedback. They honestly need to re-evaluate their menu and just learn to either redo or remove this particular dish entirely from it. Needless to say, I will definitely never return here. Decent eggrolls (but small portions); more than decent pho (in HUGE portions). Service was quick, but not attentive--no refills offered on our waters. The ca phe sua was a little bitter; maybe the beans roasted a bit too long, but it was still head & shoulders above the swill you get at Starbucks. I'd say it was a little pricey, but then I remembered that I was paying for lunch for three people. That thoroughly sucks.
