I recently came back to give this restaurant a second chance. I came right after it opened and had a pretty unpleasant experience. My noodles were overcooked and the food left a lot to be desired. I do believe everyone deserves a second chance, and coming back really enhanced my view on the restaurant. I had the signature Pho Please and Thai Iced Green Tea. The pho had a rich beefy flavor that is great on a cold day. The noodles were firm and cooked well and the meat was great as well. The TIGT had a milder flavor when compared to the normal thai tea, but I appreciated that and it was very tasty. My first time at Pho Please, and my first time not ordering pho at a pho joint! I ordered the pork belly salad because while I love pho, I was looking for a more paleo dish. The pork belly was marinated so perfectly it had me marveling at how good it was, even until the very last bite! It had a great balance between fat and meat as well. They had our appetizer and Thai tea at the table before we could even get there. The cashier was really patient and personable, and she helped me order food that I really liked based on my preferences. The steak was tender and delicious, and the banh mi was savory, spicy, and flavorful. The boba was the most perfect texture and flavor; I don't know how they did it. Honestly one of my favorite pho places in Austin, top two. It's not often I find a place in Austin where I find myself coming back to over and over again, but Pho Please is so easy, cheap, and good that I've yet to be disappointed. The menu is rather simple and straightforward, the emphasis is on pho but there are other delicious options. I've had the spring rolls, which are great, baos are delicious, and I never pass up the Vietnamese coffee, but for me the main prize is the pho. For pho you have various meat options, poultry, vegetarian, etc. I've had several different flank combinations and the chicken, my girlfriend's had the vegan one. Every time, the broth was rich and delicious, and the vegetables fresh. Can't say I've had much better in Austin, and I've tried just about all of them. Besides the food, the high point for me is the service. While it's not full-service, they make up for it with friendliness and speed. Food comes out fast, tables are bused fast. Had the chance to try the "protein combo" with short rib and shrimp. Was pleased to see enough meat on the plate to get me full. The eating experience was exquisite. I tried many pho places and concluded that you really can't refine pho to make it outstanding from others. Came here on a Friday night at about 915 and the place was packed but we were able to find seating without delay. The vegan pho was so delicious and packed full of veggies. I love that they have a "salad" bar where you can grab more onions, cilantro, limes if you want. My friend and I split the veggie egg rolls which were good too. This place always hits the spot. I really like the salad bowls. The chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp all have excellent flavor. They provide a relatively mild fish sauce to wet the salad and make everything meld together. I've had their spring rolls, Thai tea, and Pho. Everything is delicious here and very reasonably priced. Instead of asking for sides like onions and the waiter forgetting or giving you way less, they have a little bar that you can grab your own onions, cilantro, green onions, and even pickled jalapeños. As others have said, this place always hits the spot. We live in NW Austin but whenever we are in the area, we'd always go to Pho Please. We always get the Pho Please noodle bowl and it has always been consistently amazing. The broth is flavorful and does not taste ladened with MSG. The service is impeccable for a casual restaurant. The orders come out quickly and last time we were there, I had to rushed the order and my husband paid for the "chicken and rice" full dish, instead of the one for kids. I was surprised when the dish was brought out and while debating to myself whether to keep it, the server quickly apologized and brought it back. And minutes later with the dish my daughter has grown to love plus a $4 dollar refund. The brew their Vietnamese ice coffee from scratch and very strong. While we have always stuck to the same dish, other dishes look amazing, too. The vegetarian pho looks amazing... I should probably try that next time... BTW, I love the CLEAN, spacious bathrooms. As a mom, that's a real plus. The "condiment bar" is quite nice, where one can get his/her own supply of cilantro, jalapeños pepper and lime. Pretty good pho! My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon in Vietnam, so my standards might be a little different than usual. We were back in Austin visiting, and I just NEEDED pho. The broth was light, the meat was good. I liked the topping bar which let me customize my pho! I wish there were more noodles. This is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant I've eaten at in austin besides the ones near the Asian market. The egg rolls are perfectly crisped and comes with a good amount of dipping sauce. I wish it came with more than just three though. The banh mi is mind blowing. It's only $7/8 and it's gigantic!!! It's just like the ones my grandma used to get at the Asian markets. Being Asian, I've grown to be extremely extremely picky about my egg rolls and banh mi and this place gets it all right. As for the pho, it's just as amazing as you'd expect. The broth is delicious even on its own and the meat is cooked just like it should be. The prices are fair and the food is astounding and authentic.
