This place was charming and the staff were nice. My husband and I ordered pho and it was good. A bit on the oily side, and our server didn't give us the side veggies like bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños, and lime. The other customers got served though.. so yeah. They didn't give us hoisin sauce or sriracha sauce either, so I used my left over sauce from my spring rolls.

The food is always pretty good and on point. Today I have the Pho with extra brisket. A little stingy on the meat. Service is slowish, but expected since there's always just one waiter. Ambience is good!

Driving through Boise and stopped by this pho restaurant for a quick bite. The decor is modern and pleasant. And our server was responsive and courteous. We ordered a Pho Real Pho (pho with rare-steak, brisket, and meatballs) and a Bun Thit Nuong with pork (choice of meat grilled and served in a bowl of vermicelli and vegetables) to share. Food came out rather quickly. The Pho Real Pho came with just rare-steak. We told our waitress that the brisket and meatballs were missing. She brought us a bowl of brisket and meatballs rather quickly. Unfortunately, those were cold and seemed not totally thawed! The pho itself was fine, but nothing spectacular. The bun was fine and the grilled pork was quite tasty. Portion size was on the small side. For them to mess up on their signature dish like they did, it was not very good. Other than that, the ambiance and service and food quality were fine.

When this establishment first opened I was pretty excited because there's nothing like a slow cooked broth and beautifu,l healthy vegetables and rice noodles. The first time I visited I had the Pho and it was good. The broth was a bit surprising actually because I didn't seem to have a whole lot of depth of flavor considering how long they actually cook it as they state on their website. Having said that it was a heartwarming dish and I appreciated the effort. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the last two visits. Recently I had lunch there and when I walked in there was no one there at 1:00 in the afternoon. That's good for me since it was nice and quiet and the AC was cranking which was great since it was 100° outside! I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong. The vermicelli noodles were quite overcooked in my humble opinion and I got the shrimp which actually were grilled really nicely. I felt like they where as fresh as they could be for this being Boise. It came with a side of sweet sauce that seemed to have fish sauce in it which was very delicious. The only vegetable that I could find in the dish was sprouts and cucumber. It was a nice light refreshing pescatarian dish and I didn't mind it, but there wasn't a whole lot of flavor outside of the grilled shrimp that at a coat of seasoning on them , but it was nice enough. I also ordered some of the spring rolls. When I took my first bite it was great and it was crunchy and delicious and salty and flavorful. Once I swallowed my first bite I realized it tasted like it was frostbitten a bit. That was pretty disappointing. The other bit that was a little disappointing was finding out that the price points were not the same online as they were on the actual menu. They were a dollar or two more for each item that I was looking to buy for lunch and spending $15 to $18 on one dishe is quite a bit of money for Boise, but I guess not so much these days anymore. So the second time that I visited to have a quick lunch I decided to order the lemongrass beef. I decided against the beef and asked if they would replace it with shrimp and they were more than happy to do so for an extra $2. The taste of lemongrass was really nice and the menu mentions that it has bean sprouts and scallions in the dish. I didn't notice any scallions but I did notice some cucumber in there. Based on the photograph that I saw online it seemed to have carrots and peppers and cilantro and looked like there might have even been some broccoli or bok choy depicted in the photograph but I didn't see any vegetables at all. It was just white bean sprouts and some shrimp that seemed to be old. They were definitely not fresh and they had absolutely no body to them. When I bit into the shrimp they were mushy and had no sustenance. This dish was not what I was expecting. I also ordered club soda from the fountain and when I got back to my table I noticed it was a big bottle of pellegrino. I didn't want to pay extra for Pellegrino especially since I was paying almost $20 for a lunch dish. Just some soda water out of the fountain is what I requested with a slice of lemon. Anyway that's a small misunderstanding . I absolutely love Vietnamese food and I will try them again! There are a couple of other dishes that I'm very interested in trying so I will give them another chance of course! Maybe it was just a slow lunch and they didn't want to waste any food or something, I don't know! We don't really have a whole lot of choices for ethnic food in Boise so this is important that they keep it real! Pho Real! I think I would like to try one of their rice dishes of char-broiled beef and maybe the stir fry mix. The tofu crispy egg rolls and the pork and shrimp summer rolls look fantastic too! I think that will be what I go for next and hope that it's a little bit better than my last two experiences. I'm so sorry guys! I just think it's important with all the competition in town to be sure to give positive critical feedback if something isn't quite right so that they are aware and can fix it. I would like to give kudos to the wait staff. They were very friendly, very quick to come to the table and take my order, and right on top of it when I asked for a check! I always want to see all of these restaurants have great success and be around for a long time! Too many close too soon!

Food is expensive and portions are tiny!!!! The boba drinks are watered down so much and taste like they are made from a powered drink mix. Not authentic at all! Three of us ordered The taro boba it was so disgusting and disappointing. They definitely need to improve the drinks. read more

Great location, slightly updated from Pho 208. I feel as if the food is exactly the same and maybe they just changed the name? The pho special was good, but didn't seem to have been created from ox tail as it was lighter and seemed slightly less savory than I'm typically used to. I also had the spring rolls which were fresh and crunchy. The service was prompt and it was very slow in there with no wait at all. Decent beer/wine selection for such a small restaurant. No taps, just cans and bottles from what I saw. read more

Quick update to my last review. Like I wrote before, PR is within walking distance of my job so I come here a few times a year to eat lunch with my dad. And while I've historically been negative, I believe in being fair: the pho has improved in the past 6 months. Broth is more flavorful (if still on the light side) and the meat cuts are now readily identifiable. Noodles were on the overcooked side and stuck together, an indication that the soup probably sat for a while before the waiter picked it up... and in truth I did see another party sit down 15min after us and got served before us, so I'm thinking the waiter was disorganized but polite enough-- maybe new at his job. Cha gio are still unimpressive but also better than they were-- not as mushy on the inside. Good to see some improvement and I'm hoping that trend continues. One suggestion would be to keep the sauces in their bottles on the table (like most pho restaurants do), rather than serving individual portions in little dishes. The waiter forgot them for us and other diners and had to run around getting them for everyone and really it's just another thing to track, more dishes to clean, and if the diner doesn't use the entire portion, a bunch of sauce goes to waste. Of course there's probably a reason for this strategy that I don't know about... so take it or leave it. And as long as we're talking about waste, I wonder if all pho restaurants would save some money if they customized the veggies too-- some people might not eat all the lime, basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeno. PR is not alone in this, so I'm sorry if it seems like I'm singling you guys out... just an idea! read more

If you like your pho broth that taste like hot water and oil... this is the place for you. Yum yum ! I actually copy cat the broth by boiling some water and adding some lard and a mint leaf. At only $13.00 to $14.00 a bowl... what a bargain! It's even better than the hot water and oil broth the Pho 208 was before at this location. If you like your pho absolutely flavorless that leaves an oily taste in your mouth and paying for it ... you will love this place! Enjoy! If you want my copy cat recipe..... Boil water .... Add beef lard or vegetable oil and a mint leaf. Your welcome! That being said...., I did not have anything else but the Pho. The other entrees may be even more delicious or maybe worst... don't know until you try. read more

Shocking, I know after all the other reviews. They lost me with the broth. It was watery and bland. I order the "rare steak" pho that already had the meat sliced added to the hot broth. The only way I have ever been served this pho was the raw meat on the side for the customer to add. That way the meat can be cooked to one's liking. The meat was tender, but overcooked for me. The other disappointment was the peanut sauce served with the spring rolls. It was more like a sweet sauce with no texture. I asked for a side of sambal olek, and the waitperson did not know what I was talking about. I will say the prices are very fair, when these days it is more like a commitment to go out to eat. Pho has never disappointed here. The banh mi however, is the worst I've ever had. Hardly any toppings in the sandwich. Will definitely stick to the pho here. It's also a tad pricy but I guess you get what you pay for. The veggie tofu pho has some of the most flavorful broth I've ever had of any pho place I've been. I've never eaten in the restaurant and always gotten takeout so I can't comment on the service. Friendly enough when paying my bill for takeout though. read more

Nice presence to eat at with cool music. Food is great. Only thing is not being offered sauces that should normally come with the pho. On top of that, waiters have forgotten the extras (basil onion etc) a couple times. Boba teas aren't good at all so I wouldn't get them. Get the pho, obviously. The beef broth is great. read more

Ate dinner here Monday and absolutely loved it all! We ordered the vegan spring rolls, regular spring rolls, Bun Noodles with chicken, one with beef and beef Pho . All so amazing! Fresh veggies, super crispy bean sprouts, the chicken was amazing! No no brown fatty meat just beautiful white meat. The beef was perfect too ! I live in SF CA Bay Area where there's a Pho restaurant on every other street and none compared to this place! read more

Coming from Central California where there is an abundance of Pho places to eat at, this was a nice warm welcome back to the flavors that taste like home but In Boise. The BEST Vietnamese restaurant in the Treasure Valley no question about it! I've literally never had a better bowl of Pho. There's plenty of other options that are great picks to cool you off during the summer. I really want to like this place, as it's super convenient to where I live. Went there last Friday at 6:30ish, I know that's a prime time to eat out. Ordered the spring rolls, the rice paper was super tough and dried out, just didn't taste fresh. Husband ordered the beef pho, and I got the grilled pork and rice. They were slammed with to-go orders, so it took about 40 minutes to get our dinner. The pork was tough and flavorless and wasn't served with the traditional pickled carrots and daikon. Husband said the pho was pretty good. I'll probably give it one more try, but my go-to place is still Pho Nguyen. read more

Hands down the best Pho I've ever had! I ordered the P1 Pho and a spring roll appetizer. Both were excellent and did not disappoint. The homemade sauce was delicious and the generous portions of fresh basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapeño slices were a welcome added touch. I can't wait to come back and try something else from the menu. I suggest you check it out pho yourself. This local restaurant is da bomb.....pho real! read more

We've been to Pho Real a few times and will keep going back. The soup is definitely NOT bland. It's light and fresh tasting. I'm an avid cook of European food and I can spot fake flavorings instantly. Pho Real gives you fresh, natural flavors and I enjoy their food, especially the vegetable Pho. This place is impeccable the pho broth is amazing. They work so hard to prepare for their customers with a warm and friendly smile along with a nice hot bowl of TLC. I can say I will be definitely coming back my kids enjoyed the food so much and they are very picky. My husband said the rice beef meal was the most tender and perfectly cooked beef he had ever had. Wow this was the best service I've had in so long! I usually dine out alone which I love to do but find I often get sub-par service. It wasn't the best pho I've ever had but the young man serving me was such an intuitive server and really made my experience here extra special. I enjoyed the soup but I get full very quickly so I usually don't stay long. For me it's more of an issue of what I feel my problematic tummy can handle at any given time. I felt totally respected and received great service. Thank you and I will be back! read more

The restaurant was not too big , we had to wait for a little bit for them to clean up the table before we got seats. The service was ok , without the owner I think ,there were no service at all. Very casual, small spot, workers are friendly and nice. Would definitely come back here again to try their other food on their menu!

It was just what I needed since I haven't really felt good the last couple days. My noodles were cooked perfectly and had a great chew to it. I had been wanting a good bowl of chicken pho and Pho Nomenal delivered it today. I'm so happy we stopped in today to grab these bowls of goodness. I'm also happy that the little old lady working was so sweet and nice. It's a 180 from the last time we came in. I look forward to coming back soon.
