    Saigon house special pho
    Tien-En L.

So this is a hole in the wall pho restaurant near the Hard Rock Cafe run by an older husband and wife. There wasn't anyone there when I stopped by at 3pm. Menu: Welp. The specials which is half of the menu isn't available, so I wished they just blacked out that page? Actually black out ANYTHING that isn't an option. Food: The quality is great but they do try to skimp when they can. Pho - 4/5 Actually decently solid pho. The rice noodles were cooked well, the quality of the meat was decent (rare sliced beef, flank, fatty brisket, and beef balls). The soup was actually good. It could've been simmered longer, but you can taste the broth and the spices. For 9.00 it was pretty decent, considering Atlantic City is fairly expensive. The portion was slightly small, but it is filling. The problem I had was there was NO basil, cilantro, green onions, oyster sauce, sriracha or anything for the matter accompanying the bowl. Here's the thing... it's ON the menu that it comes with the sides but you really don't get ANY of it....That's not cool. Iced Coffee - 4/5 Actually it's very caffeinated, strong, could use a little bit more condensed milk so that it's not as bitter, but you can really taste the Robusta coffee bean, so that's a plus. The problem is that this is drip coffee which means it takes FOREVER to make before it's served. This was served when I was 75% done with eating the pho. Service: 2/5 This is where it's slightly cringe worthy and not pleasant. The waitress didn't even give me a menu. She just asked if I wanted rice or noodles. Also her hovering around when I was looking at the menu, and asking for the check was kind of creepy. I didn't realize this place didn't take card until later, so that's a eh I wished I knew that. When I asked her if they took cash or card she just kept on yelling it's 13.00..... I usually DON'T carry cash on me, and I had 0 idea that this was a cash only place. Thankfully I did have just enough to actually pay for the meal.... Seriously, they need to have a sign that says CASH ONLY. The older husband was cool though. Literally left me alone in peace. Decor: very clean, simple, mom and pop pho joint. Overall 3.5 Great food, okay price, would I come back again...probably not because the service was not good and their menu was not accurate.

Came here on New Year's day. After a night of drinking this was much needed. The place is small with about 6 tables. I came with 3 other friends so 4 of us total. 2 friends got the spicy noodle soup and my other friend and I got pho. The bowls were a bit small and kinda hard to eat. Soup was good though. My friend said they used the incorrect meat for the spicy one. I think they used beef tendon instead. Overall it was ok but still satisfying. The owners were really friendly and nice.

Good food and good hospitality! My only gripe is please let the customers look at the menu before asking them if they want soup or rice. But the owner and waiter were very attentive and took care of our needs. Pho was good on a cold winter night!

    My crispy banh xeo!

This is a new spot in AC right down the street from the Hard Rock. I went there for some Pho and my favorite dish, banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe). I have to say the Banh Xeo was my favorite of the two. It was very crispy on the outside and had the usual filling (pork, shrimp, sprouts). In fact, I just made myself hungry just thinking about it. The Pho was good but not great. It still satisfied my craving but I would want a stronger flavor in the broth. The owner of the establishment was very nice and really put a lot of effort in ensuring a good customer experience. I must say the server forgot to give us the water we ordered but to be fair, she was running around tending to various customers. I would go back again, particularly for the banh xeo.

I loved that we walked in and most of the patrons were Asian, translation - yep, food good! Started with the Spring rolls, which were, as expected, nothing to blow your taste buds away, decent. We also tried some Pepper Squid, which was ok. I think more pepper would have been better, as it lacked any discernible pepper seasoning. Onward to the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and Vegetables. Wow...well balanced, a terrific freshness, and the broth was spot on. We then tried the grilled pork, which was good. The server did not speak English well, so it's best to point to the menu item you want, as if you leave it to the server, you may not get what you expected. Yes, I will visit much more often. Summer roll: 3/5 it was ok. It's a summer roll so it's hard to really mess up. So it was solid but their dipping sauce was lackluster. Flavors were on the blander side. Pho: 2/5 For the price and taste it is definitely not worth it. Nothing special about the pho. Flavors are not complex and screams of overuse of msg to add umami. Each individual ingredient was not of a great quality. There a places with amazing pho, average pho, and then just terrible. This is terrible but I also wouldn't consider it average. For the price compare to taste and quality of ingredients, it's definitely too expensive for a below average pho. Overall: there are better places to go. Might've been good at one point but if you are coming from Philly or NYC you'd be really disappointed in this.

The ramen was good too and they have chili oil to make it as spicy as you like which I was a fan of. The steamed oysters were huge, wish I would've known that prior to ordering. I asked my waitress and she said they weren't too big, imagine my surprise when they were the size of an outstretched hand! The spicy wontons were delicious and the Chilean sea bass was flavorful, but had a bit too many small bones for my liking at that price. They were out of a few different drinks, so that was disappointing The experience between my first and second visits were entirely different. I felt ignored during my first visit, but the service was spectacular during my second. Hit or miss it seems

As table after table of guests who were seated after us received their food, we were left wondering where ours was. After waiting quite a while, we asked a server to check on our order. No one ever followed up with us, checked on us, or apologized for the delay. After another 20 minutes with still no food, we decided to cancel the rest of our order and asked for the check. Even then, we had to wait another 10 minutes just to receive the bill. Ironically, that's when our food finally came out. Instead of apologizing, our waiter simply asked, "Here's your food. Do you still want to cancel it?" When my husband responded that the customer service had been awful, the waiter's response was to give us a thumbs-up, which came across as dismissive and disrespectful. We then asked to speak with the manager, hoping someone would acknowledge what had happened and make things right. Instead, we were given excuses about being in the middle of changes and that there was "a lot happening." There was no genuine apology, no ownership of the situation, and no attempt at customer service recovery. We paid for the dumplings and left. Delays can happen, and most customers understand that. What isn't acceptable is being ignored, treated dismissively, and offered excuses instead of solutions. We left feeling frustrated, unappreciated, and certain that we won't be returning.

We said we were very adventurous and, not really knowing what to expect, did not specify a budget. In hindsight, that was a mistake. As the meal went on, especially when the lobster course arrived, we realized we were likely in for a very expensive evening. I wish the staff had given us at least an estimated price range or an idea of the final cost before starting the menu, even though we had not provided a budget. It also would have been helpful to know roughly how many courses to expect so we could make a more informed decision. That said, the food was absolutely phenomenal. The lobster special was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten and easily the best lobster I have ever had. Overall, Nobu delivered an unforgettable dining experience with exceptional food and outstanding service. My only criticism is the lack of communication upfront about the expected cost and scope of the omakase. A little more transparency at the beginning would have made the experience perfect.
