My mother and I went here for lunch about a month ago. I will agree with some of the other reviews, that the service could be improved, but it was not terrible for us. So my star rating is mainly for the food, though I will comment on the service as well. First of all, the atmosphere is beautiful. Take a look through all the pictures, because I promise you the lighting is even nicer in person. So when we walked in, there was a surly woman who showed us to a table, put the menu down, and walked away. There were two of us with only left one menu, so we had to wait several minutes before we were able to find someone to give us another menu. I wouldn't have cared so much and just shared the menu, but we'd never been there before and we each wanted to take a few minutes to read through the menu. Plus, it was just strange to give one menu for two people. We finally decided on the appetizer sampler to start, so we could try a variety of different things. It had Crispy Egg Rolls, Rocket Shrimp, Dumplings, Summer Rolls, and Beef on a Stick. Everything was absolutely delicious, as were the sauces for dipping. We ordered two entrees to share, because that's how we eat things when we're out together. The first was one of the Broken Rice Dishes, "R11" with BBQ Beef, shredded pork, shrimp, chicken, & a fried egg. They give a lot of rice, which we didn't finish all of, but the meats were seasoned well and cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh, crunchy, and chilled. It was a nice juxtaposition between the hot meats and egg with the vegetables. To lighten things up after that entree, we ordered a Saigon Grilled Rice Paper Wrap entree, "G1" with Grilled lemongrass chicken. This is an interactive entree, sort of like ordering fajitas at a Mexican restaurant, where you have to moisten the rice paper in some water and then fill it up with your choice of meats and veggies. It was as delicious as it was fun, and even though the woman had been a bit surly prior to this, she asked if we'd ever ordered it before and when we said we hadn't she did her best to explain and demonstrate how to eat it. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes sharing like my mother and I do. It was entertaining and allowed us to take breaths in between our bites of food. We also ordered two Bubble Teas, Taro and Mango. I must say, I am HOOKED. Word of advice for anyone who hasn't had Bubble Tea before, there are gummy balls in the tea. One of the first sips I took I ended up sucking up two gummy balls and, because I had never had Bubble Tea before, I didn't know what the heck had just ended up in my mouth. Lol. I had to Google it. I tried my mother's Mango Tea, which was delicious, but mine was the Taro flavor and it was my favorite of the two. The texture is sort of like a combination between a slushy and a milkshake, the Taro flavor was a little like vanilla and nutty at the same time, all with little gummy balls. Lol. I don't know how else to describe it, but it was also really refreshing without being heavy. I think my kids will LOVE it. When we were finished, we had to wait awhile and we had to ask for the check. I noticed some people up at the front counter, so I asked the woman if we pay at the table or up at the counter, and she told me she could take care of it for us. Well, 15 minutes later we gave up and paid at the front counter. It didn't bother me to pay at the counter, but don't tell me to pay at the table if you're not going to take it. The food was delicious, the ambiance was inviting, and the service was passable. Even with the strange service, and the fact that we took longer than normal to choose items and eat our food, we were in and out in about an hour. The prices are reasonable as well, in my opinion. We will definitely be going back here again. read more

Used to go here at least twice a week. Food a little high in price but good quality service . BUT then some of the staff started getting a little rude. So I stopped going. After a few months I decided to give it a go again. This time I showed up at 8:50pm ( they close at 10pm) . I guess the waitress didn't like that because she exhaled deeply as she walked up and looked overall upset. She took my order and I swear the food was on the table in 2mins . Steaming hot food but cold in the middle . And the soup was semi warm . I was starving from working long hours so I just wanted to eat at that point . She didn't check on me I had to find my own to go box. And also had to stop someone to get me checked out. I made a polite as I can be complaint about the food but that didn't seem to stop the cashier from adding in the extra chicken to the order he forgot to add in initially. I asked if they microwaved my meal because it was terrible. He said no . I put my normal 10$ tip on a 21.00$ tab and left. I'm not trying to make this restaurant look bad and I never write reviews but I felt I needed to write this so maybe the restaurant goes back to the service I was getting months earlier. We decided to dine in at this place during a road trip. The food was good and our waiter, "Map" did an excellent job. He brought out the food fast, and had us laughing all night. He has a great sense of humor. If you dine out a lot, then you know the waiter or waitress could make you enjoy the place you dine in at. Therefore, ask for "Map" if you decide to go here. read more

The Pho is not the best in Richmond, VA that is definitely the case with this place. The owner is short to the point, and I asked if they would modify a pho receipt to include flank and not round eye. She said it either this way or that way we do not modify the menu. Every Pho shop I've been too has always been willing to change out the round eye for flank it's cheaper for them. I'm very disappointed in the brother had very little flavor and they do not give you any chinese cilantro or regular cilantro with your Pho. They also give you a very small amount of basil. We called and tried to place a pick up order. The guy I spoke to seemed confused when I gave him my order saying that what I asked for was a different item. I asked him to ignore the number (v7) and read the description. He said ok. I go to get my food and go home. Once home, I open the tied bag and realize the guy still got my order wrong. I called back and I explained the problem to the lady that answered. She said that they had new menus. I said I would be back in 10 minutes for the correct order and she said to bring the 'old one' so she could give me the 'new one' I assumed she meant the menu. I was wrong, she wanted the food. I left the food at home because nobody has ever asked for the food back when they mess up. They can't use it! This woman wasn't going to give me my food because I didn't bring the wrong order back! She said she needed it for the kitchen to verify the ticket/receipt?!? I can't believe I left a good tip for these guys on my first trip! read more

I've been to Pho Saigon Garden multiple times for their Beef Pho, but this time my waiter Map suggested I try the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup from the Chef's Specials menu. I'm glad I did. The broth was similar to the pho's but spicier and more flavorful. The beef, tendon and noodles were tender and the bean sprouts, mint and lemon infused some freshness. Will get this again next time. The Spicy Thai Fried Rice and the iced french coffee were good too. read more

We dropped by Pho Saigon Garden on our way home from a camp trip. We ordered Pho, spicy beef noodle soup, and chicken fried rice. All of them tasted great. I liked the natural flavor of the soup. Many pho restaurants put a lot of MSG in the soup and get me feel thirsty afterward. Pho Saigon Garden is one of a few restaurants that I didn't feel thirsty after the drinking the soup. My kids love the chicken fried rice. The only complaint is that the portion of the food is might not big enough for guys, but it's perfect portion for me. read more

I was having difficulty finding a good place for Pho around Chesterfield and I finally found it. I've gone 2 times and both experiences were great. The Pho broth is very tasty, even without sriracha and hoisin, but I like to load mine up with the spicy stuff and the sauces complemented the broth nicely. I get the thinly sliced roast beef and it was good, not fatty and cooked perfectly in the broth. The portion is big so I always get to take some home and it's perfect for lunch the next day! The spring rolls are great and my hubby's garlic shrimp and broccoli looked good and he said it tasted good, he just wanted it to be a little more spicy. Someone mentioned that they're turned off by the Americanized Chinese food they offer here, but I like the options! No one else in my family likes Pho and my kids (aged 10,9, and 6) always find something to eat! The restaurant is clean and the staff was nice. The food was brought promptly both times (lunch during the week, so they weren't super busy). The Pho and the lunch prices were reasonable, however appetizers seem a little pricey, but not ridiculous. The one downside is that they serve mochi (which I love!)... 2 for $4.50..way too expensive!!! read more

With Pho restaurants not having much of a population on the south side of the river I was pleasantly surprised to see this one, and after going there I can happily say that it's the best Pho place on the southside. Just moved here from NY, so didn't have high expectations for any type of asian cuisine in Richmond, but i was pleasantly surprised. The pho is alright. The combination of good Pho and being located only minutes from our house have made them our go to restaurant for eating out. After I read the list of reviews I went to see or myself. To sum it up, it was the standard Viet place to eat. Good food and plenty of it if you knew really what to order and how to order. I always wonder how so many people try to judge Vietnamese food by eating in an American place. If you have not sat down to a real Viet meal in Viet Nam, like Saigon {Ho Chi Minh City}or sea side like Vung Tau, then you really have not eaten the true Vietnamese food served by the real people. Of course you could be lucky enough to have your own built in Vietnamese chef like me, then you would really know of what you speak. read more
