Food is great. I especially like the beef stew and I keep coming back for it. Unfortunately, everytime we eat here, it seems the old man has something against us. Came in around midnight after the Usher concert. When we walked in the place was full so we were told to wait. Then while waiting a bunch of other groups started coming in. When the lady owner told us to go to table 20 the old man stopped and us and scolded us stating this table was supposed to be for another group that was there first. We told him the lady told us to go there. He then went all the way to the front to confirm in which the lady told him exactly what we told him. All the other groups behind us were then sat but the old man literally took everyone else's order but our table. The lady owner signaled to him multiple times to take our but he never did. So she ended up taking our order. By the time our table got our food some of those other parties have already finished their meal. They then served everyone at my table except me. They then served me the wrong order and I told them I ordered beef stew. When the stew finally came the rest of my table was already done eating. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Came here for dinner after a long day on a Sunday night. It wasn't busy at all. & instead of experiencing a nice meal, we experienced microaggression. Safe to say I DO NOT recommend this place at all and I'm never coming back here ever again. Here's what happened: A family got seated, then our party of 4, and a party of 2 after (this is the order of who came in the restaurant chronologically). This part is important...but we got seated right next to the family and the party of 2 got seated behind us. The older gentleman who was taking orders came around to take the orders of the family next to us. When they finished, we spoke up and said that we were ready to order & raised our hand...but he did not even look our way, deliberately skipped us, and rushed over to go take the orders of the party of 2 who came after us. Then he walked away?!...Didn't even bother to ask if we were ready!! So once again, we raised our hand and we ended up getting the attention of the lady at the cash register and she told the same older gentleman that we were ready to order. He barely turned to look at our party and said he'll take our order after and kept going. I was honestly so bothered by that, but thank you to the lady at the register for coming up to our table very shortly after to take our food orders instead. I honestly feel uncomfortable eating here now. I feel like we definitely experienced microaggression. We weren't even loud or acting crazy. We were quiet and polite. Even IF he didn't hear us, he didn't even acknowledge us or check-in on us. Couldn't really enjoy our food after that happened. I was just wanting to get out of this restaurant asap. Late night eatssss! Good stuff. Perfect spot for a big group eating noodle soup. The staff here are so nice, especially the owner! She has photos with lots of locals all over the wall. I enjoy the Pho Tai here, but my boyfriend actually tried the Bun Bo Hue this time. He loved it! He said the broth wasn't too salty and very flavorful. The noodles were a little undercooked and the meat portion was just okay... but the broth was SO GOOD! The Pho Ap Chao is also tasty, but not a must order. It seems the owner is around, but is just there to be an authoritarian IMO, but I digress. So, our server was really sweet and attentive after waiting a while, so that made up for the slow start. I LOVE supporting small, family-owned businesses, and Pho Saigon makes it so easy to support them. They've been in business for over 15 years now, and this place has been a favorite among a lot of my friends who grew up in Milpitas, so I was so excited to finally try it! The owners are a husband and wife duo, and the wife is sooo funny and sweet! She got our orders in super quickly and brought out waters immediately. Our food also came out very fast as well. I got the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, and the grilled pork was super tasty with a smoky flavor. I would 100% come back for this dish. I also tried my friend's Pho Ga, and the broth was very clear and flavorful as well. I have an issue with some pho restaurants having too much cinnamon in their broth, but this one was perfect! Walls are filled with memorable group photos and community events. Old ladies are still busy hustling and bustling inside. Boss lady is usually staffing the front counter. Don't expect much service here as it can get very busy at times. It's still a good casual option for a good bowl or Pho, rice plate, and other dishes. I actually like the Bun Rieu tomato crab cake noodle soup here. It's perfect for my tastebuds. While prices are decent nowadays, expect the $14.50-$16 bowl small size to be small/good for portion control. You pay more for larger bowls. Number one Pho dac biet special is ok. Very satisfying even with small bowls here. Ingredients and flavors are good. Bottles of sauces on tables were wiped down clean at our table. This review is for takeout. I want to give credit where it's due: they did follow my special instructions, which I appreciated. The Vietnamese Egg Rolls were tasty, with a flavorful, well-cooked filling, and I'd give them 4 stars. That said, the rice wrapper was a little too hard and chewy, and $13 for 4 small egg rolls felt overpriced. The Beef Stew Noodle (Mi Bo Kho) was closer to 3 stars. The broth was too heavy on the five-spice flavor, and the beef portion could have been more generous. ***The biggest issue was the takeout packaging, which needs serious improvement. The pickled veggies (do chua) should not be packed in the same bag as the lettuce and cucumbers because it hurts the presentation and makes the whole meal less appealing. They should be packed separately in a small bag or container. Fresh vegetables also should not be placed in the same bag as hot food, since the heat will cause them to wilt. For orders placed through delivery apps like DoorDash, Grubhub, or Uber Eats, the entire takeout bag should also be sealed for better food safety. read more

This is one of my top 3 Pho places in the whole Bay Area. They are super consistent with the quality and freshness, and they never skimp on the sides and toppings (Basil, sauce, bean sprouts, etc.). They are always willing to customize my order (extra veggies, no noodles when I'm feeling low carb), and they have vegetarian broth option for my wife. The spring rolls are great and they have one of the best peanut sauces to go with! While eating, I also noticed how the owner was speaking quite rudely to the server in Vietnamese, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. We decided not to leave a tip, but my partner ended up leaving some cash on the table, thinking it would go to the server. As we were walking out after paying, I overheard the owner speaking in Cantonese to someone, asking if we had left money on the table. The smoothies here are overly sweet so if you do decide to order it, ask for less sugar. I got the mung bean and my partner got the durian. The durian is definitely artificial and I would guess the mung bean as well since I didn't see any mung bean specks. The taro bot chien. Not good. Not crispy. It tastes microwaved.
