I really wish this place was better, but I've eaten in and done take-out and am always disappointed. When I've ordered take-out, I've had to wait an extra 30 minutes at the location for them to find my order. Eating in was slightly faster. We were seated right away, but it took about 15 minutes to place our order. I ordered the beef bun with egg rolls. The egg rolls are fabulous! The beef was overcooked. I'm also used to more mint and aromatic veggies like mint and basil. Apparently, mint and basil only comes with pho here. Paying then took another 10 minutes. This place is a large, open room with lots of tables and a bunch of tvs, which were all playing basketball, which is perfect for us! It was packed at 6:30pm on a Wednesday evening; a very promising harbinger for the food we were about to order and eat. Got a regular and a large bowl of #9 pho and an order of the deep fried spring rolls. The rolls are huge and come with lettuce, cucumber wedges, carrots and onions and a dipping sauce. Pork, glass noodles and black mushrooms inside. Delicious and very filling! The sprouts/mint/jalapeno and lime that accompany the pho were extremely fresh. The pho was great. Excellent balance of broth to noodles and meat. It was light and bursting with flavor. You can tell this place serves a lot of customers. Very authentic, unpretentious and delicious! It was my 2nd visit to Pho So 1 and I quickly remembered why it took me a while before I decided to come back again. The menu is hard to read and the waiters literally would ask us every few minutes "are you ready to order?" and when I told them not yet, they would respond with "take your time" only to get asked less than 2 minutes later if we were ready to order. I feel like they kept pushing us to order right away even though we clearly showed them we were still trying to figure out the menu. The older waiter even looked annoyed when I told him for a 3rd time we weren't ready. Finally, I placed our order even though I felt like I wasn't sure what I was ordering. Sure enough, got what I thought was a chowmein-like dish only to get a noodle soup dish. Told the waiter it's not what we wanted and although he took it back to fix, the dish came back looking like the same thing. We ate a little of it but 90% of it went to waste. I grew up eating pho so 1, the location off of Reseda in the Valley. My family always ordered from there, I remember spending a lot of lunches at that location. So I'll be the first to admit my love for Pho So 1 is bias. That being said this is the standard in my opinion of what makes good pho vs okay or mediocre pho. This location in particular is tucked in the corner of a shopping center in Simi Valley between Sycamore and LA. There is plenty of seating and the location is always kept up to great standards. They've mastered dining in and take out, they also have an online portal if you prefer to not call in for your order. If you dine in, you head to the front to pay your check just let them know what table you're at and remember to tip :) You're going to get overwhelmed by the number of menu items. First timers go for the #1 to try their pho and then explore from them and trust me you'll be coming back for more. I usually get #6 and add in Sriracha and Hoisin along with the variety of fresh herbs, lime, and bean sprouts they serve with this. Try their Vietnamese coffee if you need a pick me up or were ever curious to try it for yourself. Every time I'm desperately in need for a bowl of pho to satisfy my cravings this is one of the few places in Ventura County other than Love Pho n more in Camarillo that does it for me. It's so unfortunate the experience wasn't what we expected. First, the service... basically it was take our order and forget about us. The only time we had someone come to our table is when we told them about the bugs that were on the leaves. Always check your food before eating! As for the atmosphere, the restaurant was clean and spacious. Very open and lots of seats to choose from. Tables were clean with sanitary utilities and condiments. Now for the food! The rice and chicken wasn't the best. Even with adding the nuco mam the chicken tasted like it was a day old; dry, stale and hardly any flavor. As for the bun bo hue, the flavor wasn't there, lack of salt, presentation wasn't a wow factor, and the meat isn't the meat we usually eat in bun bo hue, and yes, we have a big Vietnamese family and also own restaurants. Overall, I can get over the service but from to the bugs in the leaves, and the food not tasting so well. I hope they will catch these issues next time. read more

As someone who is picky about her pho, I say this place is damn near close to the pho you would get in Little Saigon :). I've tried their pho, Bo kho, com tam, com ga roti, spring rolls, and their egg rolls. The best is their pho dac biet and their egg rolls. These are a must. And when you order out, their soup always comes home super hot. They do their egg rolls different than most places. They use a unique wrapper and it's 12/10 each time. Service is a 5/5. Super fast and quick once you put in their order and many workers. Ambiance: it's always popping on a weekend night so you might have to wait a bit. Parking is not bad since it's in a plaza with businesses. It does get packed during the weekend. Overall, would recommend for your pho fix. read more

I frequent the location in Van Nuys for the past 15+ years. Amazing quality and have never had an issue. This day may wife and I were doing an errand in Simi and decided to get some Pho. Since I'm familiar with the brand and they are owned by the same family we decided to go here. Their BahMi and pork rolls were spot on. Their Pho not so much. This was a to go order as we live in SCV so we were going to eat when we get home. I asked for extra veggies was billed 3 bucks extra and did not get it. On top of that we did not get any bean sprouts, basil, jalapeños or lime, so we just got thr broth brisket and noodles. Was quite disappointed when we got home. On top of that the brisket was tough not tender like the one we get on Van Nuys. The broth seemed watered down the flavor was not as rich or intense as their other location. It's disappointing when you get home expecting to enjoy a nice pho that you are used to to get shorted on what makes pho, pho. I absolutely adore this place. Grew up in Simi and make a point to eat here at least once every time I visit. The food and service are always excellent. I've probably eaten here 200 times and never once been disappointed. My go to orders are #14 and #50. My brother's favorite is #99. The spring rolls and egg rolls are also must-haves. Pho So 1 is my usual spot in Simi for Vietnamese food! I enjoy a variety of items from their menu - their egg rolls, pho (beef noodle soup), fried rice, and avocado smoothie. Everything's tasty! In general, their food is savory but not too salty. For their pho, the meat melts in your mouth while the soup warms your whole body. Not to mention they include a heaping pile of veggies to add! For their fried rice, I like how they include shrimp, veggies, and Chinese sausage - the perfect combo for a comfort meal. Their egg rolls are big, fried to perfection, crispy, and come in a huge batch of 5 rolls. I can keep eating these all day because they're SO GOOD! Lastly, their avocado smoothies are simply refreshing. They come without any chunks and are just thick and smooth! All in all, this place is great. We arrived late afternoon, we were greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant is large with lots of tables. Everything you'll need is on the table. Chili sauce, soy sauce, chop sticks, sriracha , hoisin sauce, even salt and pepper shakers. The menu is large, and I found it a bit overwhelming. We ordered drinks and started with spring rolls. This bought me more time to fumble with the menu. I decided on a crispy egg noodles with seafood. The spring rolls with a side of peanut sauce was delicious. The vegetables were fresh and crisp and the sauce went perfectly with the rolls. The entrees came out and I was stunned. My dish was crispy fried noodles, that formed a basket. The basket sits on a sauce and was filled with vegetables, shrimp and crab. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, a nice crunch but still tender. I guess I would describe it as Al dente. Lots of seafood. Once i was able to clear some space on the plate I discovered this brown sauce/broth under the noodles. It kind of hydrated the noodles and added even more flavor. Now I've got this crispy noodle in sauce with the seafood and vegetables. Every single ingredient was good on its own and together it was magic on a plate. My son had the shredded pork skin with shrimp paste with rice vermicelli and vegetables. My wife chose the grilled shrimp and egg roll with rice vermicelli and vegetables. Everything was really good. We all agreed we need to visit the establishment more frequently. Now for the wackiness. There are a few TV's on the wall but outside of that no pictures or art on the walls. I don't know if it's cultural but there is also not a lot of service. Very attentive in the beginning but they won't check on you. A woman at another table asked for more water and they immediately got up and gave it to her. How do I know this because she had to yell across the restaurant. I love this location way better than the one(s) in the San Fernando Valley. Huge space, lots of parking in the lot, best veggie pho chocked full of vegetables and an amazing tasting savory broth. The only thing that fell flat was the tofu pieces here were/are broken up and sliced very small, so you're probably getting less tofu than the other locations overall, but the pho is so good, it's whatever. Inside, there is plenty of room for larger parties as well! Service was quick and efficient - we came here around 8pm and were seated right away. Our orders were served within 10 minutes of us sitting down - I ordered a #19 Pho Tai. The broth was delicious and full of flavor. I typically prefer the thinner noodles (which they had), and they did not skimp out on them whatsoever! I did wish that there was a little more meat, but overall - such a hit. Each bowl is around $12, which is rare in this day and age (especially with how full it gets you!). Delicious Vietnamese Food in an unassuming strip mall location. There were 6 of us eating lunch on a Friday around 1pm and we were promptly seated and served with friendly staff. We all ordered different food, including pho, ban mi, and rice plates. All were super tasty and flavorful. The ban mi in particular had the perfect hardy loaf with a rich beef flavor.
