Oswego, who knew you could do pho so well!? This little unsuspecting place in a strip mall called Pho Son knocked it out of the park. I would give this spot 6 out of 5 stars if I could, it exceeded my expectations. My husband and I came here on a weekend for dinner. I was craving pho, but we both wanted to try something different than our usual haunts. Enter Pho Son, a few towns over from us, and we were ready to give it a shot and drive through a new town. Their food is incredible. I'll even venture to say, their food was better than what I've had in Chicago... and I've had a LOT of pho in the city. We ordered: House Special Wings (canh ga chien) Tofu Spring Rolls Pho Dac Biet (Meat Combination); mine Spicy Noodle Soup (Bun Bo Hue); his What made this spot a winner was the quality/freshness of their ingredients. The little details of my dish that I really appreciated: a generous amount of scallions, clear broth, super tender tripe, and melt in your mouth brisket. When I tasted how fresh their tripe was, I felt like I had been consuming subpar tripe my entire life. I thought, "this is how tripe is _supposed_ to taste." Similar, maybe, to someone who has never been to a steakhouse and then tries a gourmet filet mignon for the first time. The comparison is for a totally different part of the cow, but you know what I mean!). It was cooked "right" and it made all the difference. My husband enjoyed his spicy noodle soup. It was not called Bun Bo Hue on the menu, but this was essentially what it was. He ordered his without shrimp. Our appetizers were also fresh and tasty. The wings were delicious with a sticky honey-fish sauce glaze that was finger lickin', need-to-wash-your-hands-after-you-eat-them, good. TL;DR Pho Son is excellent. Since I am still fairly new to the western suburbs, this spot reminds me of the restaurants in Uptown where I would go for a bowl of pho, but even better. We only tried their noodle soups here, but I'd come back to try their rice bowls and vermicelli bowls too. I'm glad this spot is close by, and we won't need to drive to the city to get our pho fix. We will be back. 6/5 stars!

Whenever I have a craving for pho, I know where to go!!!I definitely recommend this place. The egg rolls are absolutely delicious and I highly suggest trying them. Three came with the order, I couldn't resist devouring one before capturing a picture lol. I decided to get the shrimp pho and added some spice to my liking. My husband opted for the beef pho and also spicy to his liking. The passion fruit green tea is ridiculously flavorful and refreshing. This establishment is cozy, friendly, and most importantly clean.

Check out this quite unexpectedly good Vietnamese casual food. It doesn't look like anything special but that's only before you eat something here. Pho Son is one of the rare good restaurants in Oswego. Certainly they have pho of course. They also have banh mi sandwiches. Getting one of the teas is important as well as food. It has a bunch of fruit teas to choose from and they all sound good. They also have the option of putting in boba or tapioca. It seemed like a pretty good idea. We each got a tea, and I got the Mango Green Tea. It's $5.25 for a regular. This is sweet but not too sweet. It's filled with boba. These don't have much flavor but they have a cool texture. It sadly doesn't have any pho which is vegan friendly. We each got the Banh Mi Tofu. It's $6.50 for a pretty good sized sandwich. This has cilantro, cucumbers, jalapeños, mayonnaise, and pickled vegetables. Get it vegan by leaving off mayonnaise, and putting on sriracha is a good alternative. The bun is toasty so the sandwich has so much crunchy about it but also has a kick. Has much better than expected food for around here. It's the best Asian food in town most likely. The prices are okay for the portions you get for the teas and sandwiches.

I came here for lunch and I thought it was just okay. Pho is great for me anytime of day. The place is small with limited seating. Pho was not too big and priced high at $15 starting and lacking. Nothing really stood out but the staff was nice.

Wow, the food here is amazing! I ordered the spicy noodles with shrimp. The flavor was fantastic and the perfect amount of spice with lots of shrimp. My son ordered the braised chicken and rice. It was very flavorful and tender. The pho was huge! Very good as well. Everything was fresh. I ordered pick up several hours ahead of time and everything was ready and warm! Service was also friendly and accommodating. This place is an authentic ethnic treasure! read more

We've been here a few times. Loved the beef pho great flavor. The egg / spring rolls are really good. I would have to say over all we loved. They are more expensive than we like to pay. For two pho's, egg rolls , spring rolls and canned sodas it was $50. read more

I've eaten here multiple times and always enjoyed it. The last time I went I they stopped offering the spicy beef noodle soup so I opted for the regular beef pho. The spicy beef noodle was loaded with meat, sliced beef, brisket and sausage. It was great for $15.00 a bowl. I ordered thre regular beef pho for carryout and when I got it home 4 pcs of thin sliced beef in a bag!! I'm not looking for a pound of meat but 4 pcs is ridiculous and not worth the price, hopefully they change this. read more

So we went to try it today based on all the delicious looking pictures people had posted but when we got there they no longer offered any of the meals that had they grilled meats or meatball. Very disappointed. The service was excellent but not having those menu items really disappointed us. read more

This was just ok. The egg rolls were good. But, I ordered the Pho Bo with broccoli & carrots (they forgot the carrots). The broth was so bland. It did have cilantro in it, and I squeezed some lime in it. But meh. The broccoli was too big to eat in one bite. A lot of noodles. We ate half of a small portion. We just got tired of it. We noticed the person next to us dumping a bunch of sriracha sauce over theirs. Anything to add some flavor! I probably won't be back. read more

I absolutely loved this place! It was so refreshing to me. The servers and everyone else were kind and welcoming. The server we had was very knowledgeable on the food and ready to answer any questions we had! We were in a bit of a hurry, and our server did her absolute best and got us in and out quickly! We ordered the spring rolls and regular egg rolls for starters. The spring rolls were good, and the peanut sauce it came with was also very good. I do think they could have had more flavor, but they tasted so fresh I still loved them. The egg rolls were amazing. I can tell they were made fresh. The filling was filled with flavor and the outside was crisp. The dipping sauce that came with the spring rolls was delicious. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Noodle Bowl. It was something I haven't had before, but it was really tasty! The chicken on top was crisp and so good I wanted more. I thought maybe they could have put a little more chicken on top, but it was still great nonetheless. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and when topped with the chili sauce and hoisin sauce it was phenomenal! I also ordered a peach and mango green tea bubble tea with Lychee coconut jelly. Probably one of the best bubble teas I've had. I've had Joy Yee bubble tea and this is up to par with that. I am so excited to have a place like Pho Son close to home. Here are a couple of suggestions to the owners: Make sure the broth is piping hot. Broth flavor is good but it needs to be steaming hot. Also, I came in at 7, close to closing, but I don't want to smell pine sol while I'm eating. read more

I went for the Banh Mi sandwiches, but unfortunately they told me they just took them off the menu last week. So instead I got the shrimp pan fried noodles and my husband got the beef noodle bowl. Both were very, very good. Service was great and it's a cute little place. Wil definitely be back. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! Great bahn mi sandwich, great service and friendly staff. The only down side was that there isn't any music playing in the background. If I could make a suggestion it would be to create an atmosphere or give some sort of background noise. Besides that, awesome place and I'm happy to see some more diversity coming to oswego. Our normal Pho place in Naperville is closed on Monday's. And it was a cold and rainy day which is perfect for it. Found Pho Sun randomly via yelp. Very very pleasantly surprised. The menu is a little more limited but the beef pho was excellent! The steak bahn mi was amazing as well. To top that off our server was very sweet and helpful. Definitely will go again read more

Pho Son is easily some of the best food in Oswego. We live in Oswego and needed to grab lunch on a Friday. Look... we love Oswego but if you've been here, you know great food is a far cry from Oswego's claim to fame. So, we started our normal "Where do you want to go?" "I don't know, where do you want to go?" routine. I searched Yelp out of shear desperation and Pho Son popped up. They had some great reviews, and we both love Pho so we decided to give it a shot. Best decision ever. Our server was attentive and courteous - good start. My wife ordered Chicken Pho, I ordered Pho Son Spicy Noodles and we split the pork Bahn Mi. WOW. Our food came out super fast and everything was hot, fresh, and soooo delicious. The Bahn Mi was certainly in the top three we've ever eaten. Such a great balance of salty/sweet/tangy/spicy and bread was just the right amount of crunchy on the outside/tender and chewy on the inside. The Pho Son Spicy Noodles were loaded with flavor and the spice was at that perfect level: warm spice that builds as you eat it without burning your face off. This place is our new go to. We'll be back... A LOT. read more

I ordered take out, spring rolls were the really good! Peanut sauce is sweet, but not too sweet. I tried both the shrimp and steak spring rolls, the steak spring rolls come with a light sweet/sour sauce. These were good, but I preferred the shrimp. Usually in a Vietnamese spring roll there is mint, but I didn't taste mint in these, so to me they should add if not included or add more if it is included. I ordered the beef noodle bowl which was also very good, fresh taste. read more

DELICIOUS! Very happy to to have such a yummy Pho place so close to home. The business is currently in a "beta" phase so expect a more limited menu and some trial and error with their set-up and amenities until they're fully launched. The food is very mush worth a taste. DISAPPOINTED. RIP OFF. So we love pho and we were excited to try this new place. Oh my...what a waste of $12 for large pho...it was all noodles and 8 tiny tiny pieces of meat. We ordered 5 phos and other dishes had like 6 and 5 pieces of meat! I understand they have no competition so they can get away with it but I think they should at least serve pho the way it should be. If already know what pho should be like, don't come here. You're just paying for noodles that probably cost less than a dollar. So disappointed. read more

Saw the sign and was very excited to see a new style of food in the area. Ordered the Spicy beef stew and the Pho, it was just amazing and the portions were so large I had more than enough for left overs. Two days later heated it up and the food was just as good!! I usually love Pho Noodle Station, especially the location in Champaign, but this was a disappointing experience. Not sure if the stores are related, but I wish the quality was as good as that location.

I really appreciated how they only set your table with what you need for your ordered dishes whether that be the type of utensils, plates, or sauces provided. They also gave me a smaller quantity of bean sprouts and such which I appreciate because I tend to not use much and always feel bad when I waste the rest. This is also probably the most aesthetic pho restaurant I've stepped foot into. I can't wait to go back!

I was ordering from the menu board, then I saw a small sign announcing a "buffet". I asked the nice fellow behind the counter and he said it was on. Well. It was, again, not pretty, but the quality of what was on/in it was top-notch. Lotsa meats, all totally yum. Three soups, including a great Pozole. Proper garnishes and side dishes. The throw from the soft drink bubbler was excellent. Even from the buffet, everything tasted vibrant and fresh--Might be the best Mex food I've had in this area. At the right price, too.
