Went back for the pho. I want to like this place, I feel like the restaurant itself is great, but the food is just not for me. One order of pho dac biet. Asked for hanh chung nuoc beo (basically it's the fat skimmed from the top of soup pot with green onions. You add it to your bowl to make it more rich). Once more, the flavors are there, but it's just lacking. I can taste the ingredients, they almost come together, but it genuinely feels weak. The portion of pho is very large with a good amount of meat. It's like a bowl you'd get in 1995. It just tasted like it was lacking. Almost like introductory pho for people who are new to it. It wasn't bad at all, it just wasn't a rich balanced flavorful bowl of pho like I'd like. It's kinda like when your friend who doesn't know Asian food is like "Hey man, I feel like Chinese food, let's go to P.F. Changs!" or "Oh man I want some nigiri sushi, let's go to Sugarfish". It's not bad, the flavors are sorta there, it's just not for me. The one thing I will say was bad both times, was the plate of vegetables to add to your soup were subpar both times. C3-Grilled pork chop with rice: Pork wasn't tough and had good flavor. Liked the pickled vegetables. 3. A2-Shrimp spring roll: Rolls were a good size and the peanut dipping sauce wasn't too thick and had enough sweetness. 4. A10-Fried wonton: very crispy with a lot of meat. Flavor of the meat and the sauce was not to my taste 5. N4-Seafood noodle soup: light broth. I think I've had better version of this soup elsewhere 6. Another new solid pho restaurant in the South Bay! +located in the small plaza across from Target in Redondo beach blvd--it took over Miyabi uni. Small parking lot is available +service was good--Al the staff were nice. Not sure if it's because it's opening day but they have chilled bottled water if you ask for water. You might have to wait a bit to get your food but we went in soft opening day so it's understandable that wait time is long since they're trying to figure out logistics. +food was solid! Both my mom and my boyfriend's pho was good. The broth had hint of sweetness but the soup was really broth-y and had depth to it. My mom wanted to highlight that her shrimp pho had deveined shrimps, which she really appreciated. I also liked my BBH--the broth for BBH was also hearty and I would say it's one of my favorite BBH broth in South Bay. -the only critique I had was my BBH noodles. The noodle wasn't absorbing the broth--the noodles needs to be dried out a bit after it's boiled so the noodles can absorb the broth when it's served. Went for a wonton/bbq pork noodle bowl and it was very very good. It even had bits of crispy pork in it. It came with a generous amount of egg noodles and I was full. We'll let me add, I also had one egg roll (idk I always get it wrong in what season it is, but it's the fried one lol) served with crisp romaine lettuce. The food was good to excellent. my bun Bo hue had good broth, not real flavor forward, had a beef rib bone rather than the traditional slice of pork hock and did not have pork blood, although they may have been available upon request. Portions were generous. I can see this place surviving. Is located at the old Uni Club location across from Target. Service was excellent, looks like they're still trying to find their stride as this place had just newly opened.
