Finally a great pho restaurant in south San Jose! I am so happy that Pho Spot opened up here because 1. It's close and convenient for me 2. It's bringing some good business to the surrounding area and 3. Because even though it's a little expensive compared to other pho restaurants, the food overall is pretty good. Parking isn't the best as the lot gets full on a busy day/night. But there's parking around the corner of the whole building by the liquor store or on the street nearby if it gets that crazy. Upon walking in, I was surprised with how clean the place was (cleanest I've been to). The inside looks a lot better than the outside of the older building. The decorations and place overall has a more modern feel with a good amount of seating inside. There's a lot of different food options on the menu but I opted for a warm bowl of pho. It came out hot with surprisingly a lot of noodles and a lot of bean sprouts and other goodies on the side. The broth was a little salty to me compared to other places but overall the pho was fresh and tasty. I'll definitely be back to fulfill my pho cravings. read more

Forgot I ate here years ago. Shame I didn't remember. I ordered this evening via DoorDash. Super middle road Pho. I had the chicken pho (all white meat). I got exactly what I ordered. Cons: The broth was like water. I had to add 1/2 cup of sriracha and 1/2 cup hoisen to make this Pho edible. Chicken on its own of course is not the most flavorful thing but I should have to add a cup of sauce to eat it. They have good takeout but if you dine in the food is notoriously way better. The Bahn Mi for example feels like the bread is freshly toasted fluffy and theirs steam coming from the inside, but takeout it looses this and is just a really good warm sandwich. We used to live couple minutes away from here and This place is a hidden gem. Very clean place very modern for the style which is cool. Staff very friendly and quick you can tell they're getting to go orders all day everyday on top of business inside. The chicken rice plate with the jumbo shrimps are a MUST! Great pho! The service needs to be improved for dine in. There's no real concern for the customer. It feels like they just want to turn tables. They come and take the order then you're left to ask for anything. My water has been empty for 10 minutes and I need another napkin. I really love the pho here and I wish I could rate the dine-in experience higher. I would suggest takeout. They really do not care about the customer that patronizes their restaurant. What a great spot, I absolutely love the broth flavor here. My two favorite soups are the Chicken Pho and the brisket & steak Pho. Both have amazing flavors and textures. Another great think about this place is you can tell they clean the meat. Another one of my favorites is the pork vermicelli, do check that out if that's one of your favorite dishes or if your feeling like trying something new. The place stays busy, even with the difficulty accessing the tiny parking lot . From Camden avenue, come East or be ready to do some parking lot driving to get here. This has always been a tricky intersection and the business on this side of the street have paid the price since the late 70's. Once you are in the door, the place is busy and the food is good. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the quality of the food has dropped recently. My usual pork and egg rolls bun bowl had hints of...perhaps horseradish and the pork was salty. Pho is one of my comfort meals! I got two combo pho's and a grilled pork banh mi. The broth of the pho is light and Pho Spot gives a generous amount of tender meat, soft noodles, and fresh veggies. In an effort to try all the Pho spots in the South Bay, I started with Pho Spot. I decided to just drive on over and place my order to go. I ordered the Rare Beef Pho to go, with an extra of beef ball. I specifically asked for the beef to be separated from the broth, because I ordered it rare. The waitress assured me that they always do. Got my order in about 5 minutes, they were so fast and I appreciated that. When I got back to my office, I noticed the cooked beef inside the broth and was instantly sad. Despite my overcooked beef, the Pho was good and filling. The interior was clean and decor was not bad. Our waitress was also nice and friendly. The menu had the typical Vietnamese dishes at most pho places. I ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls ($5.50) and a large Pho Tai ($10.95). The Fresh Spring Rolls were good and the peanut sauce was a tiny loose but flavor was good. The Pho Tai was good to me and the broth was good as it was without anything added. The amount was good for me and definitely enough for one person. But the reason I have to write this review is... the pho. Specifically the soup. WOW--that is some intensely flavorful soup! You can taste the herbs so distinctly, and such a rich meat flavor.... might be some of the best Vietnamese pho broth I've had! Also, our pho came with rare beef, and they seriously made it RARE as F. Nearly raw, but not. It came in s separate plastic bag, which helps if you're a germaphobe (I'm TOTALLY NOT.) Anyway, you put it in the bowl with the noodles and other stuff, and pour the piping hot soup over it--voila... PERFECT rare beef! So, we got... 1. Fresh Spring Rolls (2 Pc) $5.50: So, these weren't the best. WAAAAAYYYY too much lettuce inside. 3/10 11. Combo Pho (L) $13.75: As I said above, remarkable, especially for to-go. 10/10 31. Bun Lemongrass Chicken Grilled Shrimp $13.95: So, it's vermicelli plus chicken and shrimp. The chicken was nicely charred with lots of flavor from the sauce, which wasn't overpowering. Pho Spot is -very- popular with locals, we came here at 5.30pm on a Friday night and got the last remaining table, right after we sat down this place went nuts and when we left there was a formidable line outside. Food was good, pretty standard menu (pho incl. vegetarian options, noodle, rice dishes, spring rolls), and it came out fast. Service however seemed a bit overwhelmed by the amount of patrons, then again, it just shows how popular this restaurant is. Happy to come back as the food was delightful. read more

My boyfriend and I have frequented Pho Spot for a few years, and at one point used to go every weekend. EVERY. WEEKEND. Pho at 10am on a chilly Sunday morning is better than any bottomless-mimosas-brunch. We always got great service here. Brought our out-of-state friends here (since their experiences with pho were pretty dismal). A young man was always working there when we went and knew our orders by heart, greeted us with a big smile. Service is a little bit slower here, prices are within reason, $9 for regular, $10 for large. Portions are very good here, they definitely don't skimp! I ordered my wonton pho with rice noodles, no cilantro. Covered with green onions, and side of white onions. There were a couple of cilantro pieces, which were yucky, but at least they only put a little bit. The surprise of this was the baby bok choy they added! Haven't seen this at any other pho! Noodles were perfect, and I couldn't finish with a large...because I think if I counted correctly, there were 11 wontons! Most places give 6 max. The taste of the Pho is much improved since my last visit some time ago. I had the Beef Brisket Steak large Pho ($11.95). The broth was fantastic, without needing any addition (other than the bits of mint leaves that I added (which come with it)). The noodles were still just ordinary, but the tasty broth made the whole dish great. My son had Barbequed Chicken and Shrimp over noodles ($12.95), which he enjoyed immensely.
