My family and I went to try Pho Tan during their soft opening. The food was delicious, and it's our new go to Vietnamese spot whenever we are in the area! We had the fried tofu and fish sauce wings for appetizers. The fried tofu was soft with a light and crispy exterior. The sautéed veggies with fried garlic brought a delicious garlic flavor throughout the whole dish. The fish sauce wings were exceptionally savory. If you haven't had fish sauce wings, I definitely recommend giving them a try. If you're afraid the flavor may be too fishy, there's no need to worry. Instead, the fish sauce brings a rich and savory flavor without any fishiness. It coats the crispy and juicy chicken wings well. For my entree, I had the grilled pork chop with broken rice. The pork chop was juicy and tender with a rich and savory lemongrass flavor. Honestly, this was one of the best grilled pork chops I've had out of any Vietnamese spot that I've been too. The dipping sauce on the side was sweet, rich, and thicker than most other spots' sauces. And the veggies bring a freshness to balance out the richness of the plate. My family also got the grilled steak cubes that were delicious. They came out on a sizzling plate, cooked perfectly to a nice medium/medium rare. We also had the filet mignon pho. The broth came out darker than most pho spots I've been too. It was very aromatic and one of the richest pho broths I've had. It paired well with the cuts of tender filet mignon. I'm glad that this spot delivered. They do not hold back with the flavor and savoriness throughout the menu. I'll definitely be coming back whenever we're needing Vietnamese food in Poway. And, I'm excited to try everything else on the menu! *Sorry I was only able to get pics of our appetizers and forgot to snap shots of the rest. We had a coupon, so decided to check out this relatively new Vietnamese eatery where the former Pho Poway operated. It was Sunday at noon, and we were the only dine-in customers when we arrived. We started with the beef spring rolls, which were very good. I ordered Phở Gà (pho with chicken), which was served with sprouts and very wilted greens, and was scalding hot even after adding the cold items. The chicken meat was pretty gristly (cartilage, veins, etc.), the broth not particularly flavorful. We ordered a couple of beef banh mi sandwiches to go, for a next-day lunch. They were very bready, not a whole lot of protein or veggies. With so many good Vietnamese places to eat, I'm not sure if we'll add this place to our go-to list. read more

Just ok. While it's nice to see another pho shop open in the area, service and food could use a bit of fixing up. There were 5-6 items blocked out with tape on the menu which is confusing for a brand new restaurant. Don't expect bun bo hue or any other special goodies. Options are basic: soup, with vermicelli or vermicelli with veggies, proteins and nước chấm or rice with the same. Pho bowls run from $14-$16. I asked to have my leftover broth to go and the service person spilled half of it on the table Also in my Bún Chả Giò Tôm Nướng (vermicelli with char-grilled shrimp and egg roll) the cucumber and lettuce were more roughly chopped than is standard, which made eating it a bit more challenging than necessary. Overall the flavors were average. The best part were the shrimp- the light crispy crunch of the outside was heavenly. Hopefully when they fully launch they will add back the missing menu items and be a bit more professional. One irritating thing is that payment is exclusively with Apple Pay which I didn't have and had to spend too much time downloading and entering my credit card info just to pay. read more

First off, no one in the dining room. there were two kids playing legos. we ordered the filet mignon and got the flank steak, tried to talk to the waitress and she could not understand. The waitress never came over at all during the meal and was unavailable. No napkins and the 'soy sauce' was a bottle of Kers dish sauce.
