Wife craving for a Banh Bao, the one with Sausage, Egg and more inside. I don't know where to get this kind of Buns but I know Los Angeles has a few. Good thing my wife shared her Craving with a Great San Diego Yelper and thank Goodness he is so resourceful like this Yelper is all over the San Diego restaurants every day. He suggested to my wife the " T. P BANH BAO 3 " . I was asked by my wife to drive right away to this T. P BANH BAO 3. The moment we got into the Store my wife was fast ordering what she read on the menu, she asked me to pay for CHICKEN salted egg, BREAKFAST bao , OMELETTE bao, SEAFOOD, Original PORK QUAIL EGG & Sausage, Original Pork regular egg and sausage, Original Pork salted egg, sausage. While waiting for her orders to be ready, she added eggrolls and Long Pork Sausage. I tried the Eggroll first while waiting for our Banh Bao to get ready and the eggrolls were meaty and good. The long Sausage , its kinda of lucking flavor though . The Lady asked if we gonna eat the Banh Bao right away but we told her no we gonna try them all when we come home. So the moment we came home, my wife heated them all and we tried them. So far thank goodness they are all delicious buns, it saves me Gas to go all the way to Los Angeles just to buy her Banh Bao. Now every time we crave for Banh Bao we know where to get them. Also just want to add there's no table inside, so this is like a to-go order place only. Plenty of Parking too around.

I was recommended to check out this spot by a family friend because I was looking to get some bao buns for a party. The spot is a no frills spot, which I appreciate, it reminds me of those old school mom and pop shops. Their menu specializes in different bao buns, but they also offer other menu items. The lady who owns the shop was incredibly nice and patient as we perused the menu, she was also very knowledgeable in helping me figure out what I wanted to provide for the party. What I got: - BBQ Pork Steamed Buns: classic bao that was so flavorful, so nostalgic. The bao was fluffy and perfect. - Breakfast Bao with Egg, Bacon, Cheese & Sausage: I've never had a breakfast bao before with these fillings, but it did not disappoint! This one is definitely Americanized, but still a really great option. It was cheesy, the bun was fluffy, it was perfect. - Original Pork Steamed Buns with Regular Egg & Sausage: classic, solid option. This one I do like with a little hot sauce. - Sweet Egg Custard Steamed Buns with Mango & Pineapple: I've never had a sweet bao like this one! It was so good, and will definitely be served at the party I'm throwing!

Steamed Salted egg bao bun : 1/5 - skin is hard, meat inside is grounded chicken and very dry Fried bao bun- 1/5 skin is crispy, meat inside tasted old Egg roll was given to me to try- 1/5 due to soggy not crispy at all, inside is filled with vermicelli noodles , carrots and wood eat mushroom- can't even see the meat- super dry Last but not least- 1/5 pate-chau looked promising, but skin is ok, meat is so old inside Maybe I went on the wrong day, Yelp had good reviews but such a disappointment. Save your money and run down to Paris Sandwich for better quality Service is 5/5

T.P. Bánh Bao is one of Mira Mesa's hidden gems, offering a huge variety of delicious and affordable Vietnamese steamed buns. As a loyal customer for years, I'm excited to share this spot with the Yelp community. First off, their steamed buns are fantastic. My regular rotation includes the bánh bao heo xá xíu (#4 pork BBQ style), the bánh bao gà heo xá xíu (#9 chicken BBQ style), and the breakfast baos (#19 with egg, bacon, cheese, and sausage). These choices are consistently amazing. The breakfast baos, in particular, are an incredible, tastier, and more affordable alternative to typical American drive-thru breakfast options. The buns are packed with flavorful, sweet and savory meats, cheeses, and veggies. While all their buns are solid, #4, #9, and #19 are my go-tos. The best part? You can grab these for just $2.50 each or buy a box set of 9 for $16-$19. Pro tip: Ask for the buns frozen in a box set--this is a must-do in my house during the colder holiday season. In addition to buns, their spring rolls (chicken, veggie, and pork) and iced Vietnamese coffee are staples in my order. I promise, if you bring home a box of their spring rolls for your family, roommates, or just for yourself, they'll disappear quickly. You can grab them from a warming case or call ahead for a fresh order. My personal favorite are the veggie spring rolls. As for the iced Vietnamese coffee, it's strong--much stronger than what you'd find at other places, making it a more traditional option. A large coffee from here is both better tasting and more affordable than anything Starbucks has to offer--and be prepared for a serious caffeine kick if you're not used to Vietnamese coffee! One underrated aspect of T.P. Bánh Bao is that it's a vegan haven. They offer a variety of vegan proteins and snacks, which is unlike anything I've seen in Mira Mesa. For vegans--or anyone wanting to try something new--this place is a treasure. Lastly, the customer service is always warm and welcoming. The ladies who work there affectionately call me "dear" whenever I stop by, making the experience even more enjoyable. It feels great supporting such a friendly, family-run, small business. 5/5!

About $13 per box of 9 for the original

Their prices are just great. Just compare the baos at Golden Island and you'll see . I've been coming here for over a year and bought a variety of items to try . You can buy each bao individually or buy them in a box of 9. I get their original which is the pork , egg, sausage . They ask if you want a fresh batch or cold batch . If you order fresh and they're warm you have to wait for them to cool before you put them in fridge . There's also instructions on how to heat them when you get home . I usually wrap the one bao with a wet piece of paper towel and put in microwave for 30 seconds . The buns come out warm and fluffy . Their original bun has such a delicious umami taste to it . It's porky and savory . You can taste how homemade their products are . Staff has always been helpful and welcoming.

Pork pastry- I don't know the name but show them this pic and get one or ten!

Bring cash! Wow for homemade flavor! All I had time and cash for was one pork puff pastry because I was in a hurry but I will DEFINITELY be back! This thing was mind-blowingly good! There is a surcharge for credit cards.

Been wanting to check this place out. I love vietnamese banh bao! This place offers a huge variety of banh baos, from sweet to savory. There's also a lot of sweet desserts in the fridge. I don't know what they are but got a few and they were delicious! The baos are quite tiny though. It's more like a snack than a lunch item. Pate chaud and eggrolls are super dry. I would skip it next time. Very clean take out shop with a few tables. Will be back for more boas!

So glad I discovered this place! The lady at the front was super sweet and welcoming. The prices are insanely cheap and there is a huge selection, from sweet to savory baos. They also have boba drinks, egg rolls, etc. I am definitely coming back this week to get more. I tried the egg custard bao and it was delicious! It was so warm, tasted fresh, and had the perfect ratio of filling to bun. The box of 9 for about $14-16 is such a good deal. I highly recommend coming here! Great quality and service! I am so lucky to have stumbled across this place.

I have always wanted to try this place bc I read a lot about the fried banh bao. I just didn't taste where the hype was. It was just so dry and not very flavorful. These baos remind me of mini bites. They are not very big and so expensive. I also got the original bao and the seafood. All were ok. The original is 1.98 and the seafood was a little over 2 dollars. I just didn't feel satisfied with the flavor. Overall, too small. Big price. Not very tasty

My coworker and I decided to check out this place as we were grabbing food next door. The short hair lady was very kind and helpful. What we got: 1.) bbq pork ($2.10ea) this one was my least favorite 2.)sweet egg custard/durian ($2.10 ea): it was good but definitely wish the durian flavor was stronger 3.) pork, quail egg and sausage ($2.45ea): probably the best one. The pork was very well seasoned! They were about $2+ each and they're actually small. It's cheaper if you buy a box but we just wanted to try it out. They also sell beverages and Vietnamese desserts and snacks!

Grateful to have made it here safely, we decided to grab a bite at Duyen Mai Vietnamese Restaurant. The first thing I noticed was that they had two spots right next to each other--so I already knew this place had to be pumping out some Vietnamese food! I looked around the menu and saw #23 - Phở Đặc Biệt (The Special). Of course, I was feeling special that day , so I ordered the small Pho #23. The bowl might have been small, but it was PACKED with meat, noodles, and flavor. Of course, all the sauces were right there on the side so you could make it exactly how you like it. We also ordered the Bún Riêu, which was simple but hearty and comforting. Glad we were able to fill up, recharge, and get some energy for the rest of the evening. If you're ever around this part of San Diego and craving some good Vietnamese food, definitely check out Duyen Mai. Yummy!

Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

If I had to describe it in one word I would say "aesthetic". Service: Great, the servers check in a decent amount of the time and you can usually flag them down if you need anything Food: This is where my review goes downhill. The only thing I would say is worth getting at this restaurant is the baguette with butter (no add-ons, caviar or whatever they have going on at the time -- its just not worth it -- when I got the black truffle on my butter the shavings were so thin they might as well have not been there since it made no difference in flavor) The tamarind wings are one dimensional -- the wings are fried well, but lack in flavor, its straight *overwhelming* tamarind with no other notes. House made egg noodles lack any sort of noticeable flavor, most of it stemming from the Lap Cheong but most definitely not worth the price tag that it holds ($36) The dry aged duck is where I feel the most "scammed out of". Ive gotten this both times i've been here. Both times its been overly salty. I understand its dry-aged, but the saltiness overtakes any other flavor of the duck. The sauces try to make up for the lack of flavor but they just cant carry the entire dish on their own -- especially not for a $100 price tag. The first time I ordered this dish (Jan 2026) the duck came out cold-warm, and the second time I came here (July 2026) it came out warmer.
