a bowl of soup on a table

This is the spot that introduced my wife and me to pho, many years ago! We, along with many of our friends, have fond memories of coming here during the cold days of winter, or during finals week when we need it some comfort in the midst of chaos. We now come back approximately once per year with our three little dudes to show them how good pho can be! There are five of us, and three smalls or two mediums are more than enough to get all of us fed and warmed up. This is the place that taught us the importance of bean sprouts, basil leaves and how delicious a little bit of lime can be in the soup. Back in the day they also used to give you cream puffs with your order. I'm not sure when that changed, but it is the sole reason that I cannot give them five stars. This spot remains the absolute epicenter of pho culinary brilliance and will forever be my first love when it comes to the delicious soul nurturing soup. Now please bring back the cream puffs!

Well I see lots of negative reviews at this place. However my experience were good. I just went last week, and the owner was very welcoming. The pho is hot, and delicious! It's sad that they don't offer cream puff anymore. Their cream puff used to be my favorite. This place looks bright and clean. The owner is old, friendly and speaks Chinese and Vietnamese!

Medium size Beef meatball pho with a side of hot warm tea

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the Quad at UW to witness the Cherry Blossoms bloom season to find a place to have something warm and hot to taste on a rainy forecast. Luckily there were Vietnamese restaurants nearby just by 7 min walk which was so convenient. I ordered a medium Pho Bo Vien with meatballs and I did my usual topping it off with lots of fresh mint herbs, mung bean shoots, two jalapeño slices, chili oil, tiene squeeze of lime all over my pho and noodles before making my sriracha and hoison dipping sauce for my meatball. It was crunchy and savory. The inside was not too bad more cozy and chill place rather than a traditional pho restaurant. Downside of this place is there were not any appetizers to go with my pho but hopefully in the future they could add like fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, fried fish cakes, tofu, or perhaps crunchy Vietnamese chicken salad to their menu. Overall, I liked this place deserves a 4 star for great customer service and they have vegetarian pho options available too. Thanks for a wonderful meal until next time :)

Pho Than Bros is a great place if you need a quick bite. It's not the best pho I've ever had, but service is faster than any other pho restaurant on The Ave. Note that pho is the only item on their menu; they do offer a vegetarian/tofu pho option though. I usually get either the pho with rare beef or rare beef and brisket. The small size is filling enough for me, but I think other restaurants serve larger portions and are more generous with the meat. With that said, this is the only Vietnamese place on The Ave that still gives out complimentary cream puffs, so at least you get free dessert. The restaurant is clean, but the decor is pretty plain. It's basically just mirrors on the walls. Service could also be friendlier, but at least they're fast. Long story short, Pho Than is your average, small business, family-owned pho place. Some of my Vietnamese friends claim it's the most authentic out of the options on The Ave, but I think that the broth here is more on the diluted side. I'm pretty sure they're a little cheaper than Little Saigon and Pho Shizzle though, because I paid under $10 for a small bowl including tip. Overall: 3.5/5 food, 3.5/5 service, 3.5/5 atmosphere

Satisfactory! I miss pho from San Jose, CA and this soup and noodle quality hit the spot. The tendons were delicious! The beef was okay. The beef is not quite there and its pricier, 11.50 for a small, 12.50 for a medium, 13.50 for a large and there's a small extra charge to go.

Great place for a quick meal - fast service, reasonable prices, and pretty standard pho!

Decent pho and decent price. Service is always really quick and the broth is pretty flavorful.

Good, standard bowl of pho. Nice soup. Lots of meat. Affordable prices and generous portions. They really only have pho on the menu so dont expect other types of Vietnamese food. They include free cream puffs with your order. The tables are close together and they were pretty busy on a Thursday night. We didn't have to wait to be seated, though. There's also a large communal table in the middle for single diners. I would come to eat here again.

A lot of my friends told me to come to Pho Than Brothers because they deemed it as the best pho place on the ave. However, there are quite a few pho places on the ave that are available. A lot of people on Yelp complain about the service here but I found my service experience here to be alright. I was seated promptly and they came to us right when were ready to order. We ordered quickly and they took in our orders. We didn't even wait for 5 minutes. The food just came out piping hot and ready to go. I'm not very biased about pho places since pho tastes generally the same to me. The noodles were fully cooked, and the broth was still pretty flavorful. There was a lot of meat, more meat than I usually receive in pho. I was having some pretty strong pho cravings so I was really happy to just have some pho. The unique thing about this pho place is that it has size options about small, medium, large and extra large. Typically pho places don't offer a medium size, but I actually like this because I always eat more than a small and less than a large when I'm really hungry. So the fact that this pho place has a larger spectrum of sizes is really nice. Overall, it's a typical pho place to me. Nothing too amazing but not bad or horrible. I don't have anything to complain about this place and so I would come back here if I ever had any pho cravings. However, I have yet to find an outstanding pho place. I also like how they give you the complimentary cream puff here. Most of the pho places on the ave do, but it's always a nice way to end the meal.

Small No. 3, which was excellent. The meat/noodle ratio was spot on. I also enjoyed the free cream puff!

It's still a solid spot for me even two years after I first tried it. I normally get the regular pho tai with a cup of jasmine tea (which is only $2)! Service is exceptionally fast and was sat immediately - the staff are very kind. I did not take a picture of it but I ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and shrimp fresh rolls to go after my visit. They were both very flavorful and I recommend anything off their menu - it's delicious and worth the effort to dine in but not the right place if you want to chit chat and dilly dally. There's plenty of parking outside in the strip mall which shares a lot with QFC. Seating is limited and there are often wait times around peak meal hours, recommend going 1-2hrs off those times to have a better chance at getting sat sooner! 10/10 recommend

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Service has declined significantly. Not only is there still a long wait for a table, but there is also an extended wait for food after you're seated. It was disappointing to watch takeout orders consistently prioritized over customers dining in the restaurant, making dine-in guests feel like an afterthought and reflecting poor management. Combined with the restaurant's recent "OK" health department rating, we've decided not to return. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience with attentive service, you may want to consider other options.

We ordered the: Spring Rolls ($12) - fine Ban Xeo ($18) - big Crepe-like dish, really good, though I was surprised at the scant amount of protein inside Bo Ne ($25) - such a rich dish - I loved using the baguette to sop up the over-easy eggs and pate I suppose the items are on the expensive side for Vietnamese food, but it does feel plated and more high quality than your average pho shop. Although the food is good, I can't confidently say I'll be back. Food & drink: (4/5) We had a great start with the calamari with salted egg yolk sauce. The squid was very easy to chew through with almost zero resistance and the batter was incredibly light and crispy. The sauce was pretty light on the salted egg yolk flavor. I found that if the menu hadn't said so, I wouldn't have known it was anything other than a spicy mayo. For our entrees, I got the BBH and my partner got the banh hoi platter. The BBH is definitely one of their must try items. The broth was extremely flavorful and the meat was sooo tender. I just with they included shredded banana blossom since that's a pretty essential topping to have on BBH. It does also have more meat to noodle ratio than most BBHs I've had, so that's something I would keep in mind before ordering. My partner thought the banh hoi platter was a bit disappointing. He said the banh was dried out and the proteins such as the shrimp on sugarcane were a bit bland. He also said he wished they included scallion oil. To wash it all down, I got a kumquat jasmine tea. It definitely ran on the sweeter side but was no issue since I just poured some of my water in it to dilute the drink. Service: (5/5) Outstanding service! We were served by two different people and they were both incredible throughout our entire dinner. Other notes: In most cases, I would leave a review like this at four stars. I'm subtracting one star because I believe there are some management issues based off what I observed just from sitting in. For the most part this place seems to be severely understaffed. When we came to dinner, it was a full house with a line forming but they only had two servers running the entire floor, including those eating outside. To say they looked stressed is an understatement. As we were paying, they thanked us for being kind customers in a way that made it seem like they realllyyy needed some kindness.

Fast forward a year later to a Sunday at 12:30pm and I finally made the long drive here without going through Aurora Ave since my GPS randomly decided to give my road rage some grace. Only confusion was finding the entrance to this place, but when I did I was actually surprised where I was stepping into. Inside is laid back and cool with plenty of seating for groups of various sizes. There's tables and booths, and I got booth seating for myself when I walked in. There's a TV playing sports nearby where I was, and Vietnamese pop music was playing in the background too. Menu consists of regular foods in most Vietnamese restaurants, though their provincial noodle soups and banh mi sandwiches caught my eye. They even have bún măng vịt (duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup), my favorite that I gotta try next time I come here! From my IG feeds and as a starting point, I got their bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich), which comes with all the works of a regular banh mi sandwich, though I was kinda surprised how brightly orange the grilled pork was. Regardless, it was tasty and the meat was juicy. The pork pate added a nice savory touch to the sandwich, and no other condiment was in excess that it took away taste from the flavorful grilled pork. Staff was very kind throughout, and refilled my water every now and then. It was also nice chatting with one of them about our day and other recommendations from the menu. I would also skip the banh khot as it was on the softer, chewier side when my personal preference is light and crispy. Those who do like it soft will definitely enjoy it though. As for flavor, it had an extremely prominent coconut taste- it usually isn't so strong in banh khot so I wasn't so fond of this. My family did really enjoy the com tam and banh mi chao. I only had one bite of each, but I would get these items again. Their drinks on the other hand, were delightful. I got the tamarind black tea and my step dad got the lychee green tea. Both were super refreshing and even addicting. I think they tend to do sweet items better, including their rice crispy treats that they sell on the front counter. Service: (4/5) The service here didn't really stand out much but I didn't pay much mind to it. They were very nice but there was a sense of disorganization, mostly due to us not being acknowledged when we first walked in and having some of our food forgotten about.
