Found this Vietnamese spot in Herndon, VA and decided to check it out. It's off of Franklin Farms Road which seems to be growing more and more. On to the restaurant, the environment and decor is beautiful. Very brightly light and modern layout. They have a fully stocked bar and a great friendly staff. The staff is quick to seat and serve which made us feel very welcomed. The menu offers a variety of Vietnamese food so there is a little something for everyone depending on what you are craving. These types of menu are always hit or miss because quality is sometimes sacrificed depending on the variety. The Viet Grill hit it out of the park with the fresh veggies, very generous portions of meat and noodles, and fish sauce. I would highly recommend the Grilled Pork or Shrimp. The eggroll was pretty average but a little overpriced so I'd skip that unless you are really hungry or craving it. The Bun Bo Hue was a bit disappointing as it was missing something... it definitely did not taste as it should almost. Compared to other Vietnamese restaurants throughout NOVA, everything was a little bit more expensive for almost every option but then again, there aren't as many options outside the beltway. Some options are worth checking out if you are in the area but id probably check out others if I'm looking for something specific. read more

The food was set for delivery. The driver left our food on the porch in the rain and never let us know it was delivered. We checked the front porch and happened to see the food (which was cold and wet) sitting on the porch. It was delivered via Grub Hub. I called Grub Hub and they said the food had been delivered almost 20 minutes prior and they didn't know why the driver didn't ring our doorbell. Wow. This was a terrible experience. read more

July 2022 - COVID Review: My husband and I recently moved so we were looking for another go to pho spot. The good reviews were what made me decide to try this place. The pho is all one price no matter how many toppings you got. Since we usually get the dac biet (combination) pho, we opted to get everything in a large. At almost $15 for a large bowl of pho (gone are the childhood days of paying ~$5-$6 a bowl) - it is very steep BUT the portion was huge. I was getting full in the middle of eating. The broth was decent as well. We left unsure if this was the go to spot yet with that price tag, but if I'm craving a huge bowl of pho, I know where to go. read more

We got pho (build your own) with eye-of-round steak and well done brisket, and viet grill BBQ with chicken. Pho is offered in regular and large size. I got a large chicken pho and order of the 2 spring rolls. (You can only order a large for carry out.) About $20 for the large bowl, tons of noodles and chicken, not much broth and glad I had Jalapenos at home because that's what I wanted a lot of and didn't get any. I wasn't impressed with the chicken or the rolls and definitely not the broth. I don't know what it was, but something was missing from the broth. It was extremely dark and never had pho broth being so dark. It definitely isn't elsewhere unless you add stuff to make it darker. Whatever they used in it was lacking, or had too much of something. I didn't even eat a full small bowl at home. I would've been satisfied with the broth having the great authentic pho flavor. Just disappointed after anticipating a nice comforting bowl of pho for so long. The woman at the front was very kind and the atmosphere seemed nice. Just wondering why such high ratings and if the broth just wasn't the best that night and total it costed about $30. Great food and service. Clean restaurant and great atmosphere. I ordered a boba matcha milk tea and then started with an order of summer rolls. The summer rolls cut in half were large and meaty and very flavorful. Unfortunately, I only got to eat half of one of the two before my piping hot bowl of deliciousness arrived! I ordered a large bowl of the seafood pho and it came overflowing with seafood - large shrimp, scallops, squid, and fake crab. I didn't much care for the fake crab and that's why the reduced star instead of a 5-star review. I almost let that pass, but I don't like fake crab and that should have been known as I would have asked them to leave it out. Fake crab is just not my cup of tea. The broth of the pho was flavorful and there were plenty of noodles around the seafood. Definitely, a good pho night being so cold outside, and this was definitely the place to come. I arrived around 7:30 and most tables were filled, even when I left around 9 pm there were still a lot of tables full and more people coming in. A great neighborhood place and welcome addition. This restaurant replaced the old Starbucks in the Franklin Farm plaza. The interior is very modern and clean. They take your order on an iPad. We ordered regular pho for $11.75. The large pho is $13.75. There were plenty of noodles and meat. The broth was decent, it could have been a little saltier. We also ordered bun bo hue. The broth was rich and had plenty of noodles and meat. Both soups were a large portion and good for a cold rainy day. We also ordered the grill barbecue with pork which was pretty good. They gave a lot of rice and an egg. It came with many vegetables and 3 pieces of grilled pork. We also ordered a mango rainbow jelly drink which was not good. The best pho in Chantilly, hands down. The fried rice is tasty, and very large portion. The Bun bo hue is perfection! Also, the spring rolls are mighty tasty if you are looking for a great app. The ambiance is super cozy. The only issue I noticed is the cigar smoke from the cigar shop next door. but you don't notice that after a few minutes. Definitely recommend. read more

Things I wasn't crazy about: 1) We sat outside because it was such a nice day. Unfortunately the service really suffered. We had to keep going inside to ask for stuff 2) when I ordered the waitress asked no follow Up questions (I got the lunch special) and so there was a lot of confusion and my order was incorrect and I had to keep asking for the stuff I ordered. 3) their lunch special portions were pretty small for a pho place Things I liked: 1) the food was really good! 2) they had lunch specials - a lot of pho places dont and I liked that there was an option for it. 3) when I explained the mix up with my order they fixed it and I didn't have to pay extra even though I think I did get a bit extra food. The overall score is 4.5/5 -- I haven't tried the Banh mi yet (not officially on menu at the time of review). Service for pick up was good, workers were nice and professional. Ordered: - Tom Cuon Crispy Shrimp Rolls (6): $8.00 - Cha Gio Spring Rolls (2): $6.00 - Pho Tai (Eye-of Round Steak): $12.00 - Mon Nuong Grill Barbecue - Beef (+$3) and no carb (replaced the rice with salad): $15.00 - Xa Lach Vietnamese Toss Salad (Shrimp): $10.00 Tom Cuon Crispy Shrimp Rolls - Crispy and had an added flavor with (what I think was) Thai basil wrapped around the shrimp. Came with sweet chili sauce but it's fine without it or with fish sauce. - Cha Gio Spring Rolls - Two large pieces, generous size compared to other places. It is a bit flaky, but pretty decent for a spring roll craving. Flavor was comparable to other restaurants. - Pho Tai - Love the paper/cardboard container for the pho noodles, such a nice touch for those who may need to eat on-the-go. And also appreciate that they steam the bean sprouts, such an overlooked thing by most places. The pho came with the usual fixings (Thai basil, jalapeño, lime, hoisin/sriracha sauce) but the way it was presented was thoughtful. Broth was good but could be a tad stronger. But the meat portion was generous and the noodles even more so. Very solid place for pho especially in an area that lacks good ones. - Mon Nuong Grill Barbeque - Generous on the protein. The beef was cooked really well - retained its juiciness and tenderness. They apparently use sirloin and quality really showed. There wasn't too much seasoning besides some salt (possibly also pepper) but that was no problem. This usually comes with broken rice but opt-ed for the no carb version, so cannot comment on that aspect. Simply dressing mildly sweet and citrus dressing that made eating the veggies addicting. Will say though the cucumber and tomatoes could be sliced up more since they were pretty chunky. It would be nice to eat smaller pieces with the chunks of beef. - Xa Lach Vietnamese Toss Salad - This one was fine but may need improvement - it has a nice mildly sweet and citrus dressing throughout the salad, but the tomatoes and cucumbers were much too large. All the veggies, including the lettuce should be sliced into smaller pieces for easier consumption. The shrimp had some light dried seasonings but it didn't do anything flavor wise (very neutral). It may need some other sort of flavor to stand out because it was more like they were place on as a side when it should be the focus of the salad. And maybe some other veggies added to make more texturally interesting (maybe add daikon or carrots etc.) Overall, for the price point and the generous portions on protein, this place is solid for a decent pho. There may need for some improvement on presentation and variety of veggies (beyond just lettuce, tomato and cucumber), but looking forward to trying out more of their offerings. Most of the protein are cooked great, but maybe turning up the seasoning/flavor will make it even better. Will review again once they start selling their banh mis. read more

Although being a relatively new place, Pho VietFresh is instantly a top Viet option in our area. I had delivery first and later dine-in. I was excited to dine-in on account of how good the delivery was, because I never expect delivery to be a best foot forward for a restaurant. The "fresh" in the name is no joke. The ingredients really are excellent, and the dishes are well-prepared and colorful. They also make a mean cocktail it turns out. My wife and I shared an excellent plate of grilled pork and rice and seafood fried rice. Prices are reasonable and service was friendly. What is stopping me from giving a 5 star? Nothing apparently. Happy to find an authentic Vietnamese spot outside of Eden! I was craving bun thit nuong(grilled pork vermicelli) and was not disappointed. Overly satisfied! The pork was marinated traditionally and had a nice grill/smokey flavor. Hubs tried the bo luc lac(shakey beef and rice), and the beef was super tender in a tasty sauce. The Pho is delicious and well packaged for to go; love the disposal bowl concept for the meat and onions so much better than the styrofoam that other places use, can just add broth, sprouts, etc and eat from bowl! Makes for easy storage of left overs. The fried wings were different and great flavor but surprisingly not crispy. I look forward to going again to try more items on the menu. This place is such a hidden gem! (Is it though because every time I go for pick up, takeout and dining room are always busy). I really enjoy their: - Pork banh-mi: they are huge in filling and sizeD and I can only eat about 1/2 of it in one serving. - Bun Bo Hue: they are very generous in their portions. The staff is very friendly here and offer to be very accommodating of the menu for those who like their food cooked a slightly different way if that is important to you. The Pho was delicious and they absolutely do not hold back with the meat and noodles here. This is the largest amount of meat and noodles in my bowl anywhere I've gone. The broth is savory and of course they gave a large portion of fix ins for the table. I would highly recommend to try the Pho here. A bunch of friends recommended this place to me. So I made the journey to check it out! TL;DR, it was worth the drive from woodbridge. 5/5. Longer version Rolls came out first, took less than 3 minutes to come out. Two bowls of pho came out right after. I thought the rolls were really over priced, but they came out giant. Well worth the 6$ Pho broth was clean and flavorful. The brisket melted in my mouth. Noods were top tier. I am a super picky and weird eater, so I order no veggies in my pho. But it came out with veggies per the photo. But decided to be a grown up and eat them veggies. When we came, several large parties came right after we got our food, so the staff were super busy. I think pho broth can make or break your experience. I love pho, but also find it hard to find a spot I love and want to keep re-visiting. After Pho4Ever in Fairfax stopped making a veggie broth (still salty about that), I started what seemed an endless loop of trying various other pho places in a 10 mile vicinity so I could pick my next go-to comfort pho place. After a LOT of tries, I finally settled on Pho VietFresh. While their broth could do with a bit more spice in it, the flavor carries enough depth that this is my new go to place. It's a bit of a hike from Fairfax, but Ragz is always awesome and will drive me/ pick up for me. I always get the veggie broth with tofu and it's usually big enough for me to make 2 meals out of it. I have been wanting to try their veggie spring rolls, but they always seem to be out when I order. There is more than enough "stuff" to go with my broth, which I appreciate. I wish they would add some jalapenos with the pho "stuff", but that's not a deal breaker. Overall, I like their veggie broth and will continue to order on days when I need a warm blanket of comfort foods. read more

Fresh, hot and hefty quantity. The summer rolls are packed with shrimp and pork and super fresh. Pho was loaded with the different meats we were able to choose and the broth wasn't salty like most pho broths I've had. They have good portions but the small was more than enough for me, including one summer roll (comes with 2). He said it will be right out. A few minutes later someone else came and said they can't cook our chicken wings because the kitchen is too busy!?!? Our go to Vietnamese place in the area. Good portions, consistent with their dishes. Pho broth is clear and not too much MSG. We all know how thirsty we get after having Vietnamese food. I like the simple menu, we usually go for Pho and either their rice or vermicelli dish with side of spring rolls or shrimp rolls. Affordable and delicious meal for a family of 4. I have been to countless PHO restaurants since 1972 in this area. I was just delivered today perhaps a very hidden gem for PHO. Allow me to share: I always order a large everything bowl. Pho VietFresh broth was spot on in addition to the SUPER GENEROUS meats that I love. Usually I'd find a cursory few thin slices at other Pho places but Pho VietFresh has put double, triple meet as a Standard along with all the other ingredients a large "everything" has to offer! Even the side of Thai basil and bean sprouts was heaping and over generous! It has become my new favorite Go-To Pho hands down as it should be put on your Pho foodie radar as well. What an excellent addition to the community, and our family's new favorite pho place!! Everything was so fresh and so delicious, I would eat here for every meal if I could. The soup broths were so light, smooth, and full of flavor...and the noodles and toppings were all cooked to perfection! On top of the delicious soup and noodles was SUPER TENDER beef brisket slices that about blew me out of my seat. The banhi mi was layered with so much flavor and yet again the freshest ingredients. The service was top notch, and the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming. I am so excited to have a place like this so close to home and look forward to coming here for the foreseeable future when I need my pho fix! Pro tip: pho is a breakfast food....go here when you're hungover and you'll see why.... Update: my new favorite activity is running here, stuffing myself full of their super flavorful pho, and then using the leftovers to add a weight lifting aspect to my walk home.
