    23. Pho Short Rib / Phở Sườn Bò
    Kenji O.

Tried Pho Vietnam on a Friday evening. Walked in solo and was greeted with a smile and sat at a shared table that already had a couple sitting at. Menu is full of a variety of Vietnamese dishes that looked great. I had my mind set on Pho and ordered the Pho with short rib and a side of egg rolls. The pho was delicious. Broth was very tasty, so much so I did not add any sriracha which is my norm for pho. Ribs were nice, tender and fell off the bone. The rolls with crispy and tasty with a nice array of accompaniments. The restaurant is a nicer mom and pop feel, very comfortable.

Located on the corner of Smith Street & Hotel street in downtown Chinatown. We went there to try the spicy clay pot with pork which was recommended by a friend. My wife ordered her normal when we go to eat at any Vietnamese restaurant the pho with tendon, which when it came I tried the broth and it was on the sweeter side and seemed it was more watery then flavorful which she agreed the broth didn't have the body of a good pho. The spicy pork ribs were okay, but it wasn't spicy, but had a nice flavor. The service is slow and if you don't let them know, you can sit there for a while before anyone comes back to check on your table. They have only street meter parking or public parking. Restroom was okay they have men & women restrooms.

Great spot for a late-night bite in downtown Honolulu, especially since not many places stay open past 9pm. Their vermicelli bowl is fire! I ordered mine with grilled pork and a spring roll, and it was so good. Prices are unbeatable for the portion size and quality, and the food feels very authentic. Definitely a go-to in the area!

I've been coming here with my family ever since I was a child. My dad grew up in Vietnam and this is one of his favorite go-to Vietnamese places in Chinatown. The menu at this place genuinely can't be beat. It has everything: pho, bánh mì, vermicelli dishes, even Thai dishes and hot pot! The prices are very reasonable and I haven't found a single thing here I didn't like yet. When I'm feeling fancy I always go for #61 (vermicelli with grilled pork and fresh herbs, mam bún cha Hà Nội ). It comes in a beautiful plate and always hits the spot! Their Vietnamese iced coffee (#3, ca phê sữa đá) is also the best Vietnamese iced coffee I think you can find on this island. The servers are always super welcoming and love to help me learn more Vietnamese. This is one of my favorite places in Chinatown and I really hope it gets the love it deserves.

Service was excellent and the Pho was perfect! The large Pho was much larger portion than I expected given the low price, it easily could've fed 2 people. The restaurant was very clean and not too loud even tho it was a busy day.

Never coming back again if I see that lady working.

The lady in picture claimed to be the manager, combined two 4 seaters table for a part of 8 people that came after everyone on the sign up list. She even came out to confirm that we had 4 people in front of the 8. Never coming back again if I see that lady working.

I'm from Los Angeles where there's a lot of very good Vietnamese places around where I live. Pho Vietnam really surprised us with how authentic their broths tasted especially for Hawaii. I first tried the pho (I was hungover) and I was able to stomach the entire bowl. The other girls in my group ordered the BBH. it was so good that we ended up going back for lunch right before our flight. I ordered the bun rieu just to try it because I prefer bun rieu over BBH. it's solid, but I would still say their BBH was the tastiest out of the 3. Service was good/quick. Now I know where to eat good Vietnamese food when I visit Oahu again!

Had their Bun Bo Hue, pretty good. Good ingredients and tender meats, flavor had depth, good spice level. I'm hoping to try their other dishes next time. It's a spot where I saw a lot of Asians were dining at, also it's recommended by an acquaintance of mine who's Vietnamese, so there must be a reason? Also love how they have a whole page of vegan selections! That's amazing! I'll try some of those next time too. Hopefully it's good. The service was friendly. The food also came pretty quickly. The restaurant was quite spacious and there were maybe 15-20 tables inside. It drew quite a bit lunch crowd during the week. I can't imagine how it's like during the weekend!

Large seating area. Seated immediately. Service was very good. I had Oxtail Pho and it was amazing. I would definitely come back.

Got started before taking g a photo. Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup-$18). Delicious and full of flavor!

Authentic Vietnamese restaurant with large menu that offer dishes not found in many other restaurants such as hot pot and meat plates that you make spring rolls with. I ordered bun bo hue and it was very good; lots of lemongrass flavor which I love. Service was quick and restaurant had a good crowd for early morning. We saw working people coming for early lunch so I bet it gets very busy around lunchtime. This restaurant is in Chinatown so there's lots to browse around before or after your meal.

One person's meal was forgotten and only got it after getting a follow up 20 minutes later. Ended up eating after everyone else is done with theirs. Disappointing as there's no compensation for the inconvenience.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

The food is authentic and super delicious; the pho broth is the best that I have tasted, very clean and no msg (at least I can't tell). We have tried a lot of the menu items throughout the years; our favorites are: - combination pho - rare steak and meatballs pho - oxtails soup/pho - grilled pork chop rice - crispy spring rolls - summer rolls - beef salad (my wife's favorite, she orders it every time) - roasted pork and lemon grass chicken banh mi sandwiches - roasted pork and spring roll vermicelli bowl - the special combo wrap (very tasty but you have to wrap it yourself; some may think it is fun, but I am lazy and prefer to have it made and ready to eat) The prices are very reasonable, they haven't raised the prices much even when the food cost keeps going up. I believe they have some deserts, but we have never tried any, because their portion sizes are generous and we're usually too full to think about deserts. When we arrived, we were the first guests so got to pick our table. When we sat down at the pretty wooden booth, there was a happy hour menu on the table. What?!? And YAY!! There was a 2-for special on the cocktails and you could select from the full menu which featured an extravagant and eclectic selection. There were wine and beer specials too but we were here for the cocktails. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, chicken wings, and the Bo Ne Steak--a Vietnamese breakfast with bone marrow, cubed steak, sunny side eggs and a baguette. I can vouch for the spring rolls, light and crunchy without being oily. I don't eat land animals but my friend said the wings were divine. And they give you gloves to eat them. So civilized (ha) and a nice touch! She loved the bone marrow and steak. There was so much food she didn't finish it so I took it home to the hubby who devoured it. No complaints and only smiles from him! I wanted to try a couple pescatarian dishes from the regular menu so ordered the lemongrass clams which was AH-mazing! Could have been my favorite dish of the night because the flavors were unexpected but undeniably good. And, the garlic salmon bun (vermicelli noodles) was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was savory yet light. I've never seen this option at any other Vietnamese restaurant and it certainly elevates the traditional dish which usually comes with meat, tofu, or spring rolls. (You can still order the bun with these options and they let you choose your protein combos.) Finally, (I told you there was a lot of food) we ordered the banana blossom salad. I rarely see this offering at other Vietnamese restaurants. It's hard to describe but I refer to this dish as the red-carpet version of the green papaya salad. It's more dressed up and sophisticated. A real treat and a must-have if you're dining at An Di Dzo. Parking was easy since it's at Ward (by the theaters or you can park anywhere in the village). The restaurant is clean and modern. And the service was courteous and professional. Our server Alex was great and made the evening extra special. An Di Dzo is open for lunch and dinner. They also offer some vegan options so I'll be back. Hubby enjoyed the leftovers so much he wants to give it a dine-in try. You don't have to ask me twice! Highly recommend you give them a try, too.

I'm Vietnamese and it was a very affirming and comforting experience for me when so many other Vietnamese folks came first thing in the morning to get their grub at Thuong An Lac. Parking: There's a lot of nearby parking ranging from $2-6. A lot of people opt for the Chinatown municipal parking. It'll be a bit of a walk so plan accordingly. The restaurant is small and can only have a few parties in at a time. It's no frills but feels like you're just visiting your Aunt or Grandma's house. Prices are fair, not overpriced. It's tucked away in the entrance of Chinatown Market, making it a true hidden gem. My favorite is the "beef" noodle soup. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful--you'd never guess it's completely vegan. I also highly recommend the taro spring rolls, which are crispy, delicious, and the perfect appetizer. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so it may not be able to accommodate larger groups. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. As someone who loves noodle soup, I appreciate being able to enjoy such a satisfying meal while knowing it's entirely plant-based. I'll definitely be back!

You already know the beef was good or it wouldn't get a good review from me. Got the spring rolls which was nice and hot. Wrapped the spring roll, noodles and the carrot & daikon with the lettuce and dipped it into the sauce. Winnahs. For the main entrees got the crispy fried noodles with seafood. It's like the Vietnamese version of Chinese seafood with cake noodles. Very crunchy and tasty. Lots of seafood. The other entree was the combo sizling plate. Yes, the plate was sizling. The plate had pate, sausage, meatball, beef and a fried egg. I've never tasted anything like that before. It's not the usual taste that you're accustomed to but i enjoyed it. I thought it was good. Both entrees and the salad are good serving size. I like the spring rolls and wish had more but that's just me. The service is excellent even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized for being late but it was quite understandable. He's so polite. The lady who might be the owner was very pleasant and personable. It was a very good experience. The only thing that might be a slight problem like any other restaurant on Kapahulu is parking.

I'm usually more of a spring roll person, but these were so good and something I'd definitely order again. I had the brisket pho, and my boyfriend got the beef and flank pho. Both were delicious, and the broth was flavorful and comforting. I'm pretty particular about Thai tea, but theirs is always really good. The restaurant is small and fills up quickly. The service is always good and the food comes out fast. If you're in the Aiea area and looking for a solid pho spot, Pho Time is worth a visit!

When I placed my order, I told the woman, "no cilantro" on anything. When I received my order, the soup was missing. When the woman brought the soup, I said again, "no cilantro." She said, yes. I paid and left. When I got home, I opened the salad and noticed a pile of basil and what appeared to be cilantro. It tasted like cilantro, too. So, I went back to the restaurant to return my order, as I no longer wanted any of it. When I got there, the woman told me that isn't cilantro, it's "culantro." She said she would refund my salad, but not the sandwich and proceeded to argue with me that she was doing me a favor because the salad did not have cilantro, even though she very well knows they taste the same. In any case, I left my entire order and was only refunded for the salad. I will dispute with my cc company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
