I got the Phở Đặt Biệt and my partner got the Phở Chín & Gần for reference! Noodles portion was great, but was in a clump so had to do some digging to get it to separate. Meat was okay, but me and my partner absolutely loved how tender their tendons were--they were so soft! Brisket was really tough to chew through, but some parts where the fat was really soft. The broth itself was really clean and didn't feel so fattening like other places which was refreshing! The family seemed really nice and their service was great. We initially went to Pho 79, but once we saw that line, we quickly turned around and Yelp another pho in the area. We saw Pho Vinh Ky, literally across the street with plenty parking. Sure it doesn't have the best reviews, but a lot is based on service... which we all know is not a thing at a pho shop. We came in, pretty empty. The lady saw us getting out the car and already anticipated our party, so we got in and the table was set with a baby high chair too. Great! We both got the Dac biet. At first it didn't look like a lot of protein, but once we dig in and moved the plentiful noodles, there was a lot of protein. They even gave us another bowl, scissors and plastic utensils for the baby without even asking. The pho itself wasn't bad! It beats a lot of pho in San Diego. The broth was flavorful and it didn't make me numb. Usually I get numb in my throat and back of the neck when a pho has too much msg. But I was ok! Everything went well. For the price the pho was pretty good. You can't find many pho places that are around $10 these days so couldn't beat the prices. The signs on the window are a little misleading as it says 50% off. We asked the waitress which items for 50% and she listed like 3 of the pho items, however when we went to pay it was the price on the menu not half of the menu price. Still cheap for pho but the signs and communication from staff were misleading. We ordered the combo beef pho and a veggie pho. The broth was very flavorful and there was quite a bit of meat in the beef pho. They offer 2 sizes. We ordered the beef pho in the large size and the veggie pho as the regular size. The veggies and broth were good for the veggie pho but I was not a fan of the tofu they used. They use the fried puff tofu that's airy in the middle so had no substance and didn't go well inside soup. It's the type of tofu that would taste great salt and peppered fried on its own. Most places I've ordered veggie pho from use the firm tofu. Overall decent for the price, service was typical, cash only restaurant. Would go back if in the area. read more

For some reason, this place is not quite as good as the sibling place on Westminster and the price is abit higher too. Bigger parking lot and bigger restaurant. Nice and friendly service. I was looking for a place to eat with a group around midnight during the weekday and I found this place was charging $8 for a regular bowl of pho and $10 for the large so I had to check it out. The workers were super chill and there were only a few customers besides us there. I got the dac biet which I would rate at about a 3.5/5. The portions itself were great for both the meat and the noodles but when I come to a pho shop I look at the quality/quantity of the meat and the quality of the broth. The broth department was a bit lacking which dropped it down to a 3.5, but honestly... it's easily a 4.5 considering the price and convenience. A 30 year-old pho place on busy Brookhurst had 50% OFF BEEF SOUP sign hanging outside for years. I wondered 50% off what? and hesitated to go in. Just too many good Pho places nearby to waste time checking out a potential gimmick. Friends from out of town wanted to try discount Pho places, so I called, confirmed prices and operating hours. Regular pho bowl $8.25, big bowl $10, also many other Viet dishes with reasonable prices, open from 9 AM to 3AM. Pho Thanh on Bolsa is open 24/7, but has no discount. It owns the 2 Vinh Ky locations and another new Pho Thanh at corner Euclid and Garden Grove, all had signs $7.99 Pho Special. These locations have larger customer base. Workers are professional, courteous and efficient. This place was nice, clean, smelling neutral, virtually empty at dinner hours. This pho is much better than average, a very good deal for $8. There was plenty of various cuts of meats, rare eye round, brisket, chuck, tendon, tripe, all tasty and good. Rice noodle is Southern, more like hu tiu, lacking the squiggly texture of fresh Northern noodle. The broth was clear, tasty, full of beef taste and aroma, without excess sugar and other spices. Pho is served with bean sprout, mint and fresh pepper. To boost the creamy taste, I usually request extra rendered fat with scallion and sour onion gratis. I could not finish the $10 big bowl. The $10 big bowl is enough for 2 people at home. Just reheat the broth and serve. Take out orders are carefully packaged. Even today, Vietnam has little or no refrigeration for their meats and seafoods. They are usually spoiled by the time they arrive at the market then consumers. That's why Viet cuisine uses lots of spices and herbs to mask unpleasant odors. If the food is fresh, there is no reason to overcharge it with spices. I suggested to the management to hang a clear sign of $8.25 Pho Special so potential customers know exactly what they are paying without having to go in to check. Pho Thanh has found a good business formula for franchising pho. This pho place is recommended for dine in and take out. Keep a big pho bowl in the fridge and have a big hot pho at home whenever you want to. read more

GG / Westminster Pho is the 6'5, blue eyes, trust fund, finance man of food. Times that by two, if it's open late like this spot! (idk what happened to the hours here on Yelp...) We stopped by after a night out, and saw the place pretty empty on a late night, as expected. The service was quick, as our order was taken shortly after we sat down. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet, a classic, and the best way I could gauge the quality of a place. It came out rather quick as well, and immediately I noticed the portions, which weren't as good as other places but decent for the price. The veggies plate was looking a little sparse, but passable for 2. I generally liked the flavor of the Pho, and pretty much needed no adjustments! This spot is my favorite go-to pho restaurant! I always come here with my boyfriend at least once every 1-2 weeks. The price for the pho is fantastic and the condiments they give us is a lot! A lot of people in these reviews complain about language barrier and I understand their frustration, but I feel like they could've just point at the item on the menu instead of saying the number to make it less complicated. My boyfriend speaks Vietnamese so I may be biased, but I say my order in English and later ask for more water and they understand just fine. They open super late, which is great for late night cravings. It was late at night and thankfully this place was open. The service was almost too quick because once we sat down they took our order immediately. We ordered Pho Duoi Bo (oxtail), Pho Dac Biet (Special) and a side of onions with vinegar. I thought the broth was a little lacking because you can barely taste it. Thankfully they had sauces on the side to add. The meats however were nicely cooked and were pretty flavorful. The service was okay since after they gave us the food, they were no where to be seen. The biggest perk is that this place is open super late. The food is good and super cheap too! The Thai tea is mediocre, but it didn't make me sick. My one thing is that it's just a little dirty. We sat by the wall, and it kind of looked like a murder scene. Regardless, I was super tired and hungry, so I just ignored it. This is a great place for a late night run for Vietnamese food. They have noodle soup (pho, bun Bo hue), vermicelli (bun) and broken rice! They also offer drinks as well. This place is very reasonably priced, especially since all the food inflation since the pandemic. It's pretty authentic, but my bun was a just a touch too salty for me and the pho broth tasted a tad watered down. Otherwise it is authentic! Lot of people show up even at 10pm. This place reminds of ole college nights where my bro's and i would swing by for some cheap pho. This spot is an almost 24 hour joint where you can get a great packed bowl of pho bo- not stingy at all! It's not the best but for the price and if you're hungry and you want a place to dine and dash they're service is quick the soup isn't bad at all! I believe it may also be cash only. Here's why I HAVE to give a low score- this is probably the 3rd time I've been here and they just don't dog gone wash their frikken vegetables thoroughly! Like.... I shouldn't have even thought it...
