San Diego and the surrounding areas never cease to amaze me with how delicious their Vietnamese restaurants are!!! I eat pho at home in Texas a lot too, but something about the places here make it extra special. After a LONG day of travel (with my husband running on about two hours of sleep), we wanted something fresh, comforting, and spicy for dinner. We could not have picked a more perfect place. The two waitresses who helped us were friendly and prompt. They took the time to explain the vegetarian options on the menu to me as well as answering some questions I had. We started with their vegetarian combo appetizer which comes with two tofu spring rolls and two egg rolls. The rolls themselves were great but dipping them into the vegetarian savory and peanut sauces? Out of this world!!! Those were to die for delicious. My husband got a beef pho bowl for his dinner and I got a vegetarian small pho bowl with tofu for mine. He was in love with the broth in his dish. It was very silky and full of flavor. Mine was a vegan broth I found out, but packed with great flavor as well. It also had rice noodles, bok choy, broccoli, carrots, bean sprouts, and a ton of red chili paste that I added for heat. Ahhh where do I start? How about A+ for this spot! We are always looking for new places to try some of our favorite dishes and I am so glad we found this Pho restaurant. I'm always craving it so there's no surprise that I agreed to have what we call a "cheat night" with the hubby. First of all, this place is call in/ take out or eat there kinda restaurant. Located right next to the courthouse, it isn't a huge place but it seats about 18 families comfortably. The parking lot is small and is shared with 3 other big restaurants so get there early if you are going for dinner. We ordered the spring roll/ egg roll appetizer to start with and I immediately fell in love with their spring rolls. It was so fresh and they don't slack off on stuffing it with shrimp. I ordered the Pho Ga which is a fancy way of saying "chicken noodle soup" (LOL) and the flavors were out of this world. 10 hours to prepare the broth??! It definitely shows and they do a dang good job on it. I love that they give you most of your veggies on the side so you can add them into your bowl on your own. Add a twist of lime and the heat of the siracha will make this dish mouthwatering. Order a "regular" size because you will definitely be taking home leftovers. My family and I came here on a Sunday for a late lunch. Normally we go to Pho San Marcos. Today was a 3.5 star day (4 for Yelp). Today I opted to try something a little different: #A6. Bò Tái Chanh (Lemon Cured Beef). I ordered it semi-spicy (7) and I thought it was good. I'd prefer just using lettuce wraps to the rice crackers however. Although I enjoy their pho, my wife and I both thought the broth was unusually sweet. I'm not sure why but it was unmistakable. It's not terrible but we kept adding sriracha to overcome the sweetness. Also, there were a LOT of noodles in both of our dishes. Our kids split a bowl (I love that they split it for us), so we gave them a lot of our noodles since we had plenty. This is either a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I like the staff and think they are very friendly. Service was a little slow today, mostly due to the Chargers game I suspect. A few other things were noticeable areas of improvement: the constant smoking by the front door; our table ran out of napkins; I had to ask for more water and we ran out of table room and had to put our empty Bò Tái Chanh dish on another table. The broth is so flavorful! once you taste them you will judge every other place off of this broth. Portions are generous, meats are on point. My husband actually has eaten his fair share of Pho so he's more particular and educated than I am. We were seeking some hot soup on this cold day as I was under the weather and in need of getting it together for the upcoming holiday. The #15: chicken noodle soup was just what I needed but, beyond the health virtues it was the best I've ever had. The broth was hearty and delicious, the meat was absolutely tender and the veggies both on the side and in the soup were fresh and fragrant. The hubs chose the #13: with rare steak and meatballs and stated it was perfectly cooked, flavorful and one of the best he's ever had. We also chose the calamari to start which I'm now obsessed with and am already dying to go back for. Not chewy as calamari can be and served with a delicious sweet sauce on the side. Yummy Yummy Yummy! It's cold and grey outside and I was craving pho so I decided to try out Pho-Ever for the first time. It was really busy inside but all the employees were still super friendly and I got my food in 10 minutes. I ordered the #12 beef pho and it was delicious, definitely hit the spot! Another great pho place in North County. We usually go to RB for Pho Ca Dao but after reading the reviews here, we decided to try it out. I ordered my usual- rice noodles with shrimp and egg rolls. My husband had a beef/rice dish, and we ordered a plate of egg rolls as an appetizer. We also ordered a kids size bowl of pho for our son. I liked my dish. The sauce was light and wasn't too salty. My husband said he enjoyed his dish. He tasted the kids pho and said Pho Ca Dao has better noodle soup. They can do all their noodle soup in a kids size, which is great, but I wish I saw a 'side bowl of noodles' on the menu. Next time, I'll ask. The kids size is gigantic and my kiddo (who LOVES pho) could barely finish half. The did cut all the noodles in his soup before bringing it. That was super nice. So another pho place makes into the north county. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this place. This place has its highs and lows but like all new business there are some startup kinks they gotta work out. This place gets 3.5 STARS and I'm being generous here. I wouldn't consider this place the most traditional of all Vietnamese food. I ordered PHO TAI - which is Noodle soup with rare steak... but by the time it got to me the steak was well cooked. I wasn't too thrilled about that because the right way would be to put the meat in the soup at the very last minute so when you bring it out, the broth is cooking the steak. Plus a regular bowl wasn't that big and didn't have enough noodles. One more thing, while their broth was decent, I was disappointed it was on the watery side. I felt like it needed more spices to it like star annise or more beef bone to create a more flavorful broth. My sister-in-law had the BUN CHA GIO THIT NUONG - which is Rice Vermicelli Noodle with Egg Rolls and BBQ Pork. The egg rolls were alright and the marinade on the BBQ was ehh. Lets just say it wasn't the star of the plate like it should be. I also got to try the my sister's dish which is MI XAO DAC BIET - Crispy egg noodle with assorted meats and veggies with an oyster sauce. Now this dish was probably the best out of everything we ate but it needed more sauce. Cuz any Viet will tell you, as much as the crispy noodle is great, its the sauce that is situated beneath it that makes it the best part about it. The noodles become slightly soft but still firm from the crispyness. Yum. Important FYI: I wanted a broken rice dish but surprisingly this place doesn't utilize broken rice (Com Tam) and the shredded pork (Bi) that is normal of Vietnamese Pho places. They use steamed rice and doesn't even have "bi". My bro and sister was puzzled. I was left a bit disturbed. The service is good as they were pretty attentive and catered to my family needs (extra bowls for the kids, etc...) Pricing is a bit on the higher side. The crispy noodle dish was like 11-13 bucks. A bowl of pho was like 6 bucks and change. Overall, I was nice about my rating because its new. But next time I won't be so nice so they better work out their grand opening kinks. I put 4 stars with the hope that it'll improve after working on their recipes. I used to live right around the corner from this place and my family would come almost every week. We recently moved away but they are still our number one choice for Vietnamese cuisine when we're visiting the area. I enjoy coming here for many reasons. As stated in the other reviews, this restaurant is very clean! Everything is new and nicely decorated. They are family owned and are always so sweet and helpful. My son has severe food allergies (including seafood and soy), so going to Asian restaurants are sort of a challenge for us. Sometimes at Asian restaurants I would ask an employee if they have a particular ingredient in their food and they either didn't completely understand the question or wouldn't know, but still give me any answer they think is correct. Well at Pho-Ever, the owners are the cooks and so whenever I had a question they knew exactly what the answer was. It's amazing how some restaurants say their food doesn't contain any seafood, but clearly has been seasoned with fish sauce. Umm...okay!? I always get their #1 Pho soup: Extra large combo with rare steak, well done steak, well done flank, brisket, tendon, and Tripe. I love the flavor of their broth- it's so flavorful. Their rare meat is cut from filet mignon, so they aren't fatty strips of meat like other restaurants. And of course all the other additional garnishing that's given to you are always fresh. *If you're a coffee lover or in need for a midday picker-upper you must try their espresso with condense milk! read more

I've eaten and Pho Ever about 8 times now and I've never been disappointed. We stopped in the first time because of the name...I mean, how could you not eat at a place called Pho Ever? We've never been disappointed. The decor is perfectly cheesy. White lacy curtains on the windows and light yellow paint on the walls. Just what you would expect from a place named Pho Ever. They've got a few tv's high up on the walls showing sports most of the time. The waiters are friendly and attentive. If you're a beginner at pho, they can coach you through what everything is and what to order. Their pho is on point. The noodles are perfectly soft, the meat is flavorful and tender and the broth is delicious without being overly salty. The bahn mi sammiches are on point. The bread is tasty, the veggies are super fresh tasting and the meat is perfectly tender. They even cut the meat into the perfect size for the sammiches. My girl and I decided to try Pho-Ever, since we both love Vietnamese food and had a hankering for some Pho for lunch. The atmosphere is kind of plain with a couple of big screen TVs with sports on TV. Nothing special. Horrible Pat Benetar, Eddie Money, and Def Leppard on the speaker system and it was too loud. Maybe they should try to pick some better atmospheric mood music instead. We ordered two bowls of Pho Tai Nam. They say they use Filet Mignon cuts for all rare steak in their Pho. However, like another review mentioned, the steak was anything but rare. The proper way for the rare steak is to still be a little pink when it is served and then it continues to cook in the broth in front of you. Also, there was not enough meat in the Pho, and I never saw the flank steak that should have been in our order. The flavor of the broth was just ok and seemed to be lacking something. There was not enough cilantro or green onions in the soup. We both commented on still being hungry after eating and we are always satisfied after eating a bowl of Pho. I ordered a Cafe' Sua Da', which is iced coffee with condensed milk. First of all the server did not seem to understand what I ordered, which was odd. He did not know it by it's Vietnamese name. The balance between the condensed milk and cofee was off. Not enough condensed milk. I wasn't impressed. It was not sweet enough. The same goes for the Avocado shake my girlfriend ordered. She always gets one at every Vietnamese place we go to. Pho-Ever's was not sweet enough and seemed bitter and even oily. She threw half of it away, which she has never done before. The service was friendly and prompt. One way to tell if a place is authentic is by their clientele. If I go to a Vietnamese food restaurant and there are lots of Vietnamese people eating there, then that is a good sign the place is excellent and authentic. I never saw any Vietnamese customers come into Pho-Ever. Pretty much white-bread people who probably think this is good Pho. After tax and tip we got out for about $25. It wasn't awful or inedible, but there are definitely better Vietnamese places nearby. If it was the only place in town maybe we would go back. But, we both agreed we would not give it a 2nd try. Great food, great people I'm so happy I found this place! I thought this was "just another pho place" but it is special. So far I've tried both beef and pork vermicelli, egg rolls, spring/fresh rolls, veggie pho (with real vegetarian broth, which I don't think is very common), and the rare steak pho. It has all been delicious. The pork vermicelli was good, not my favorite, but I think maybe I just don't like pork that much in that dish. The rest of it was all really outstanding. I also tried the espresso with sweetened milk over ice. It was excellent and made fresh just for me (do all places do that? I'm not sure) Best of all the people are soooo nice and service-oriented. Their customer service style is attentive, kind, personal, genuine, and basically just awesome. It was rainy today so when we went at lunch, the place was packed. The front entry where we had to wait was a bit crowded, but I'm guessing it isn't usually like that, I think it was due to our timing and the weather. Everyone that works here is really nice! Most Vietnamese restaurants have very rude and careless service, but not at Pho Ever. Also, the prices aren't too bad, and the food is yummy! One suggestion I have for this restaurant is too hire another waiter or waitress. It gets pretty busy (during rainy days) and sometimes it takes a really long time to get the food out. My wife and I live in the neighborhood and Pho-ever always hits the mark. Last night we were freezing and wanted something to warm us to the core. I had the large pho with rare filet, brisket, and fried tofu, my wife had her combination pho. Simply delicious. Also, for takeout, the broth was still nice and hot when we got home, couldn't ask for more. We also did the spring roll/egg roll combo for an appetizer. YUM. Both sauces were perfect with the rolls. I also want to commend Pho Ever on their taking the proper health precautions for their customers and their employees. What the phock! Oh my goodness. Here's the short review: if you love pho, COME HERE. I would consider myself a pho connoisseur; I love pho so much I can eat it for every meal, no matter how hot it is. I was in the area and as always, was craving pho. I looked on yelp and found this place nearby & gave it a try! I was SO surprised because honestly compared to all the other pho places I've been to in mira Mesa area (ca dao, cow Cali. Etc), convoy (T Cali, & pho hoa down south, the broth of this place surpasses them ALL. The moment I sipped the soup, I knew I would not add any hoisin or sriracha because it was so flavorful and clean. NO OILYNESS. That's hard to get by at a pho place nowadays. I wasn't expecting much since the other areas in SD were more populated than this area, but to my surprise it was way better and I'm so sad it's not closer to me. Me & my fiancé both noticed that even if there were msg, they barely used any since we didn't touch our waters until the end. I loved the broth so much I took it home and purchased extra noodles so that I can have another pho meal from them. ( SO WORTH). You can tell the broth is good based off the color of the broth, because honestly, if a beef pho broth isn't dark, they're doing it wrong. My only complaint is that for a large, I expected more beef and noodles. But other than that I didn't mind. The beef it came with was so lean but yet soo tender, and noodles were cooked perfectly. I'd much rather have less noodles/meat for amazing broth than bland ass broth that I would have to hide with sauce & tons of noodles/meat that are mediocre. All in all, IM SO HAPPY. We wanted to check out a new local eatery. Based on the reviews we decided to check it out. We came for lunch on a Sunday about noon. We were seated right away. Only a few tables were taken up. We were told sit at corner booth in the back next to the drink refrigerator and cash register. First off the leather seat cushion was torn. So the place needs some sprucing up. We placed our orders and food came out really quick. I ordered pho chin which is the lean rare steak and he ordered bun gao vermicelli noodles with BBQ chicken and fried egg rolls. The pho was good, the meat to noodles ratio was very good. The broth was very nice and came out hot. The vermicelli noodles were also pretty good. He really liked the BBQ chicken. Only downside was the piece of HAIR in the fish sauce that was suppose to go over the noodles. We sat there and waited to get the attention of a waitress. It took so long that I decided to get up to ask for another bowl of fish sauce before our food got cold. Even then it still took a couple minutes to get it. When we did a new bowl it was half the amount of the first bowl. Overall food was good. Customer service needs improvement. Asked for the check and that took another 5-10mins. I felt like we were lost in that corner. I'm willing to come back another time because the food was good but I hope the customer service improves. read more

I ordered grilled pork and vermicelli to go. I picked up exactly on time. Pork was not grilled. It was dry and not even warm. Possibly worst Vietnamese food I have ever had. No wonder restaurant was empty at 1:00 in afternoon. Overpriced and poor quality. read more
