Came here for a quick lunch with a friend and was very pleased! The Thai iced tea was just the right amount of sweetness, not bland and watered down like other places. You can actually taste the tea! I ordered the wonton soup with bok choy and egg noodles. The dish was very comforting overall and really nice for an upset stomach or cold. After stirring around the broth for a while, I could tell that it wasn't made with any powders or concentrates, which I was very impressed with. Already went here like 3 times in a span of a month with my cousin. Their fried chicken wings are the bomb as well as their wanton soup. I get the wanton soup with egg noodles. Our most recent visit, we tried the crispy tofu bites appetizer and it was super delicious (even more so when you eat it with the soup). Why didn't we find this place earlier! We found this place since I wanted to check out an old friend's place near the Willow Glen area and afterwards we wanted somewhere to eat, pho-wise. So this pho popped up within the vicinity. A very nice restaurant & quite clean & nice inside & also loving the entrance with the plants. It's quite home-y with a family-friendly environment. This our go-to pho restaurant. We have tasted about 4-5 others in the area and the family always defaults to Pho Wagon. Chicken Pho and Rare Steak are our favorite options and they by far have the best spring rolls (always a measure for me). They could offer a better peanut sauce tho (my only nit). read more

We have three pho restaurants within 3miles from our home. This has more of our favs on the menu. PW has the best veggie pho, includes broccoli, tofu, carrots, etc. and the broth is tasty. Fresh spring rolls and vermicelli bowl are also fresher than other restaurants. Lastly our other favorite is the yellow noodle wonton and Bok choy soup! It's a yummy alternative to the regular pho/rice noodle soups, which will also like. read more

It's a wet and soggy San Jose day so of course we had to get pho. Called for a take out order - and it was really super quick! Got home and our order (2 make your own phos - one with steak, brisket, & flank, the other, steak, brisket, and tendon) was super well packed and piping hot! Tons of meats, and noodles - and the broth was savory and full flavored. Also ordered both the fresh spring rolls and the fried spring rolls... the fresh spring rolls were - excellent - they are huge and do not skimp on the pork and shrimp. Yearrrrrrrs ago when Pho was all the rage, I hated it. I felt like all I was eating was broth (never been into soup) and someone told me once (no, I never fact-checked this) that 'Pho is what peasants eat " and my entitled ass thought it was hilarious that so many people were flocking to Pho and willing to pay $$$ for it. And after that... I became a Ramen fan. (Yes, I deserved to be shamed Game of Thrones style.) Until... that is... I tried Pho Wagon. A friend was visiting from New York and after a day hiking in cold weather she was like "I want Pho" and long story longer, we ended up here. Holy crap. The broth is soooooo flavorful and delicious. The vegetables are fresh and filling, and there is a solid amount of meat provided. I always ask for extra Hosin sauce because you can never go wrong with that heavenly sauce. It's perfect for when you're feeling a little under the weather. I personally order the #6 Beef Special which has a little bit of everything. I'm also shocked at how hot and fresh it feels with takeout (I've actually never dined in before.) ** I willllll say that the bathroom smelled horrific when I was there and I'd strongly recommend avoiding it as much as possible. I heard about Phô Wagon (PW) through some Yelp friends' check-ins and saw the rave reviews. However, I'm always suspicious of any Phô spots that aren't located in East San José (ESJ). PW is located at -what I consider to be- the West border of Willow Glen; a historically non-ethnic San José neighborhood. You're always taking a chance that the high praises are coming from casual Phô fans as opposed to the lunatic fringe that frequent the ESJ locations. So I wandered in on a chilly February afternoon with a work accomplice and ordered my set standard plus a bonus Thai Iced Tea (free on Tuesdays if you buy a bowl of Phô!). Here are the results: #2a: Gôi Cuôn (Spring Rolls)- The Spring Rolls at PW left something to be desired. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but it just didn't taste fresh to me, which is a key component of Spring Rolls. Also the Peanut Dipping Sauce was a little lackluster. I tried adding Sriracha but that didn't really help. 2* #1: Phô Dâc Biêt (Special Combo w/ Rare Steak, Flank, Brisket, Tendon & Tripe): Broth- Really good broth that didn't need any accouterments to Beef it up, but of course I had to add the Chili-Garlic sauce because I'm addicted to spice. It had a great beefy flavor but was a bit lacking in the sweetness department. 4* Noodles - PW had standard Phô noodles and supplied you with a copious amount. I wish they had Fresh Noodles but no dice. 3.5* Meat- Very generous, and a quality, helping of your standard Phô Dâc Biêt meat. The only thing that would've made it better is if they had Ox-Tail. 4* Thai Iced Tea- Hard to critique something that's free, but just watch me. It was actually quite excellent; maybe the best one I've ever had. Usually Thai Iced Teas can be too sweet but this was just right and the price was perfect for a cheapskate like myself. 5* Service & Ambiance- Very good service for a Phô restaraunt and the decor was clean, modern and very easy on the eyes. 4* Value- Decent value all around but nowhere near as cheap as SoCal Phô. 3* PW was a very pleasant surprise. Ordinarily when I eat Phô outside of ESJ I usually end up with Faux (see what I did there?). However, PW can easily match up with quite a few ESJ shops. They also have a Make Your Own Phô option which I found intriguing; you essentially get to pick up to 4 different types of meat allowing you to customize your Phô experience. I will definitely be looking into that the next time I go to PW but in the meantime I give them a hearty thumbs up. read more

I feel like a lot of standard Vietnamese restaurant nowadays are trying to be a little more upscale and modern. And by that, I mean actually greeting customers, keeping tables clean, dim lighting in the restaurant, white dinnerware instead of the usual Asian funky prints all over the plates and bowls, already cleaned chopsticks (yep, I said it!) and playing soothing elevator music in the restaurant instead of your usual loud Vietnamese opera music or something from a Paris By Night CD. Pho Wagon is the epitome of this new-age Vietnamese dining that we are experiencing. Besides the crazy upscale attempt of the decor here and their wild American cocktail menu, their pho is not so horrible. The broth could definitely be a little better. The noodles would be better if they made it fresh to order. But you do get PLENTY of meat and noodles with your order. I ordered a small Dac Biet and I had a hefty meal in my tumtum after I finished that bowl. Once again, I've been spoiled by REAL, delicious, hole-in-the-wall pho back in Orange County. Kid had grilled pork; hubby had grilled chicken and I had house special rock n roll filet mignon. Mine was voted top for flavor, tenderness. The grilled chicken was delicious. I love Pho Wagon for three reasons; the chicken in their Pho Ga is white breast meat and comes with grilled onions, their restaurant is the nicest pho restaurants I have been to, and they offer you honey with their tea. This pho restaurant amazes me because of how modern their furniture, decor, and serving style is. Unlike other pho restaurants, Pho Wagon has modern tables and decor. The entire place is modern. It also isn't as crowded as most pho restaurants and it never feels rushed here. Their broth is tasty and the first sip always reminds me why its my favorite place to get meat in pho. I am very picky with food so getting meat in pho for me took some time and when I did make the jump, I was sad that the chicken always seemed like the scraps but here, its white breast meat and that could not make me happier than eating it everyday. They also provide steak on the side and it is always very fresh meat. It is never oxygenated They have lots of seating so I would recommend it for small and large groups. Their parking lot is a large too. The only thing I would warn you about is their scheduled as they are closed Tue and during lunch. They offer honey with their tea and because I drink tea at other pho places, I know Pho Wagon is unique in doing so as Pho Hoa, Pho Kim Long, Lee Noodle, and Beef Noodle #1 don't. I come here at least twice a month. I have been addicted to pho since about 1990 when a group at work dragged me out to try it. I wanted to introduce my teenage daughter to it and we went somewhere else. She wasn't impressed. So I took her here and she's now a pho-monster. I always get the same thing. Small chicken pho. The broth has a lot of depth. There's a good noodle to chicken to broth ratio. When I go with my friend, we also get the fresh spring rolls which we enjoy. And with my daughter, we get an additional order of chicken fried rice, except on Thursdays when they don't do anything fried like that (I think it's that cook's day off) Some day, I may branch out but for now, I love the consistent quality of the food, the good service, and the pleasant atmosphere. Just had Pho Wagon for the second time in the past 6-months. Most recently, we wanted to get some hot soup on a cold rainy night. The friend I brought had never had pho before. Ever. She tried the chicken pho and I had steak, flank & tripe pho. Most notably, the broth in both bowls were warm, not piping hot. I thought the flavor was kind of bland. That might've been good for my friend who is not as adventurous as I, but even she needed some extra flavoring for the shredded chicken. Nothing was really wrong on either of my visits, but nothing really stood out either. It was just alright both times. Granted, I have only had their pho, so maybe I need to try one of their rice plates or noodle dishes, but when Pho is in your name, I'd expect it to be a strength. If you're nearby, I wouldn't dissuade you from eating at Pho Wagon, but I wouldn't go out of my way to drive over there. read more

The lettuce was super old almost reminded me of cabbage or something. The chicken was so dry and had no flavor wouldn't eat it. I saw this was on Yelp's hot new businesses so I decided to try it out. I came with my brother around 1:30pm and there were only a handful of people there. The decor was nice and clean like the Sunnyvale location. The menu had the option of making your own pho and you can select up to four meats. The price for a small was $7.50 and a large was $8.50. I ordered a small Pho Tai and my brother ordered a large Pho Tai. It was a few minutes before our food came out. The meat was just right and tasted the way it should. The broth was also good as well as the noodles. It tasted the same as the Sunnyvale location which would make sense but that's not always the case for other pho places. I got vermicelli with lemongrass pork. It was pretty good; meat was salty and quite flavorful, and there was a good amount of food. I could've used more vegetables though. I paid $11 for dinner, which I think is too much for this meal. This place seems like a fusion place; there's fried rice and pad thai, which isn't really Vietnamese. I would give 3.5 stars for the lemongrass pork vermicelli. The service wasn't so great; they didn't give us enough waters in the beginning, and we had to ask twice for it. We also had to ask for water refills, but they came by a few times afterward on their own to refill. 3 stars for service. This is my new favorite place to get pho! I can't wait to go again! Let's start with the obvious, when you walk in, this isn't your typical pho place. It's clean, tidy & not overly crowded. Service can be a bit spotty though. They have a simple menu, which is easy to understand. We order the Vietnamese spring rolls to start. Those came out within 2 minutes. This place is a great Vietnamese addition to Cupertino area. This is my coworkers and I's go to lunch spot. The restaurant is super clean compared to many other asian restaurants. The broth for the pho is pretty flavorful and light msg but once in a while it is a bit oily but very rarely. The meat quality is good and eggrolls are awesome. The food here is pretty consistent. Pho is stable of Vietnam. It's a comfort food and a bowl of yum and tradition. Typically I venture to the east side but finally found one in Willow Glen. I could smell the aroma of the broth upon entering a family friendly welcome. Hard to choose between seafood and chicken but chose the later. While waiting for my Pho I had a delicious chai tea. Soup arrived in less than 10 minutes and looked beautiful. I added the ample plate of chiles and shoots and of course hot sauce. The broth was a perfect 10 and chicken tender. Portion is big and sharable so I took half to go. The staff is friendly and efficient. Every customer was served with cadence amongst Doordashers and take out. Got my food to go. Service was amazing. Price was fair for the quality. I ordered rare steak and brisket pho, and fresh springs rolls. The amount of accoutrements provided was above par. So much fresh basil, sprouts, and jalapeños. The rare steak was fresh and they gave plenty. MOST IMPORTANTLY the broth was piping hot! It makes been quite the downward spiral here for a few years. 2010 : My girlfriend and I would go to the Pho Wagon off of Homestead to have dinner with her family once or twice a month. The food was amazing the place was clean! 5 Stars all around! About 2012 : The Willow Glen location opens up very very close to us! We were so excited we came to eat there 1 to 2 times a weeks. We would bring our friends and family. Whenever I was working close by I would bring coworkers. Our son came as a newborn. My now wife and I still love this place. 2017-2019 : Consistency of the food, especially the Pho was extremely spotty. The employees now see mentally challenged. We have to chase people down to get more water and even our checks. Did our appetizer come out? ‍ I'm done with this place my wife and kids can eat if they like but I will be boycotting it TILL I DIE! read more

This is one of the worse Pho spots I've ever been to. My first time was yesterday evening, on fathers days. The restaurant itself looked pretty decent but it's overpriced. We ordered one number 8 and number 9. Which was steak with brisket, and steak with tendon. A small bowl was $9.25. WHICH IS SO OVERPRICED WHEN YOU'RE GETTING NOTHING BUT NOODLES AND SMALL SLICES OF MEAT, YOU COULD FEED A BABY. On top of that, the bowls were the same size my baby brother gets when we ask for an extra bowl at different pho spots. ALSO, if you want extra lime, jalapeños, bean sprouts, etc. you get charged an extra $1.25. I don't think I'm ever coming back here. They obviously don't get customers like that, that's why they charge for every little thing and skimp on the pho. I don't think they'll ever have any regulars or more customers. I'll tell you exactly what happened: After we stepped into the restaurant, I took note of 2 people working: one was a middle-aged lady and the other was a young'ish (19-22 year old?) boy. There were also people in the back, but only 2 out front. The lady welcomed us, walked us to our table, and gave us a couple menus. Asked if we wanted water, we affirmed, and she brought us a couple glasses. After a few moments, the kid walked up and sheepishly asked us if we were ready to order, in a tone that was little more than a meager whisper. His hesitancy to engage us led me to believe that he's probably someone's nephew or son, working at a family establishment. He clearly had no desire or intention of being a waiter. We ordered and off he went. Our waters were 90% ice, so they were gone in under 2-minutes. Nobody offered us refills at any point. We waited and waited and waited and, after 15 minutes, I saw the water pitcher on a table near the kitchen, got up, and helped myself to a refill. The table next to us cheered and asked if they could get the water after us - as they were equally dry. I passed them the pitcher and they thanked me. The middle aged woman emerged from the back, flashed a frustrated look, and disappeared into the kitchen to look for the kid. To her credit, she seemed to be managing all 5 tables in the restaurant (of which, only 2 were in her section). The kid (meanwhile) was out to lunch the entire time. Hardly ever emerged out of the back... and when he did, he was visibly texting on his phone. After less than 5-minutes, our pho came out (delivered by an older gentleman who looked to be a cook). We thanked him... but the guy clearly wasn't a waiter, so he didn't ask if we needed anything; just dropped the bowls and took off. At that point, I flagged down the woman and said that I was still waiting on a Sprite (which I'd ordered from the kid, alongside my lunch). She nodded and got the drink. The pho was flavorful and tasty; we enjoyed every bite of beef and noodle, sparing only a small puddle of broth in the end. After finishing our order, we sat there. And sat there. And sat there. And after 20-minutes, I got up, turned around, walked to the register, and just waited. The kid was no where to be seen. The lady, who'd been running around, asked if I needed anything. I said we just needed the check. She got it for me in under a minute. All in all, this place has good pho... but you'll be tearing your hair out if you get the wrong server. 4.5 stars. This place was surprisingly really good. I had the large #1 pho without tripe but more tendon. It was good! We live in Downtown Campbell and typically drive all the way down to Almaden Plaza to eat at House of Pho. But Pho Wagon was much closer and after reading a friend's review of it, we decided to give it a try. We liked the decor inside. Usually, it's quickly apparent that the pho place does not care, whatsoever, with how they decorate their interior. But at Pho Wagon, there's a theme and a nice vibe and it wasn't gawdy and gross. Bonus that the place is big. The broth. The broth! Could there be that special ingredient in it? There's something there and it's mighty tasty. The tendon is legit. It's big chunks of fatty tendon that I love. The sprouts and basil and lime could have shown more life (looked more fresh) but other than that, the pho itself was good. This is a small detail but I appreciated the larger water glasses AND that they came around to refill it often. I know there were a few mentions here about inattentive servers but not during our night. We WILL be back to try the other items. read more
