As the weather gets chillier and I was on a verge of getting sick, my mind is fixated with the thought of munching a warm and hearty bowl of pho! The interior of this place is quite spacious and bright, not upscale in anyway, but it was definitely one of the nicer Vietnamese resto in SJ area. Looking at their menu, the range of the food here was pretty big and various, and price wise: just a tad pricier than most pho places in the area. I choose the "make-your-own pho" options (we may pick up to 4 proteins) and it totally hits the spot - Tasted light, comforting and deeply satisfying! Portion wise, don't be fooled by their small sized bowl, it was filled to the brimmed with noodles and meat... Their small certainly makes me full! Overall, I had pretty much the same pho experience as the common ones that I've tried in town and the beef pho was something delicious. The only thing I didn't like was their Thai milk tea, very watered down and just too sugary for my liking. I would come back again, in addition to great pho, their service was quite hospitable. **Pho Quest Stop #29** Although I was sidetracked for awhile in my pursuit of the perfect hu tieu nam vang, the truth is that I missed pho. Fortunately, a new pho restaurant showed up on the radar and I was able to stop by. Pho Wagon is about 3 months old and is a newcomer to the Willow Glen area. Given the dearth of noodle soup restaurants in the area, it's a welcome addition. I was actually familiar with Pho Wagon, having tried their Sunnyvale location, and they appear to be doing well with a larger, more spacious restaurant at their new digs. I was told by one of the owners at the original location that the name "wagon" came from their families background of serving food on wagons, the precursor to the modern food carts we see today. It's a unique name and helps make the place memorable. Beside the name, the two other qualities of the Pho Wagon are clearly the food (indeed it's the favorite Bay Area choice of my good friend's Vietnamese parents) and the cleanliness. The interior is impeccably clean and if you've ever been turned off by the hole-in-the-wall quality of some pho restaurants, you'll feel at home here. The attention to cleanliness passes on to their food. The bean sprouts were pristine white and fresh and the quality of the beef cuts; from the rare steak to the flank to the cubed pieces of tendon; was outstanding. The broth, albeit slightly more subtle than many, is served piping hot and tastes delicious. Overall, I really enjoyed my Pho Dac Biet (special combo pho + added meat balls) and will definitely be back. For the area, it is highly recommended and it's nice not to have to drive all the way to the other side of San Jose for some of the top pho restaurants. I oftentimes go to the Sandwich Maker (in Los Gatos) for pho, but if I have a few minutes more (~8-10 minutes driving distance), I'd gladly head here for the rare steak on the side and the additional cuts that Sandwich Maker can't offer (top notch tripe, tender tendons, and meat balls). Pho Wagon has become quite a popular place because they are busy each time I dine here. But the truth be told, I think they are too comfortable of their popularity to be mindful of what the "customer service" should really be. From what I see, the service went straight down to the toilet in this restaurant. Here is examples. On my last time visit, I had to wait for a very long time until I was seated. And the restaurant wasn't even packed. Also, my order took WAY more than usual time. When I got my food after waiting for a VERY long time, the server apologized for such long delay. I had to wonder, maybe they forgot to place my order. I don't think a pho does not get 20 minutes to get served. Just not acceptable. Then my check came... A wrong one! When I returned it back to the server (a guy has been serving me so many times to he should know right away that this check was wrong), he says "where is your credit card?". Love, love, love this place. I've been hoping for a good pho restaurant in the neighborhood forever. The place just opened Dec 2 and I just had the time to try it out. This location use to be a Burger King right behind the Valaro gas station on Meridian (across the street from the post office). We walked in about 8 pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant was 1/2 full. We were greeted right away and seated by the window. The place is newly remodeled so it's clean and very warm. We ordered a veggie spring roll, the hubby ordered a vegetarian pho, and I a special combo (brisket, flank steak, tendon, and tripe). The order came quickly. The spring rolls are tasty and fresh. The soup is flavorful. The menu is simple, and has all the basic pho items to satisfy my taste bud. On a cold winter night like tonight, it is just what I need. They accept all major credit cards. I have been visiting this place since it opened, and things were great before. The pho tasted fresh, no hints of msg, and the meat was very tender. The accompanying basil, bean sprouts, and lime were also good. Spring rolls as well. Recently, things have been worse. Two of us came here on a weekend, place was decently busy. After getting seated, we ordered two entrees. The first entree arrived and things were good, decided to share between us. Almost halfway through it, the second entree did not show up, so we had to ask. The waiter looked totally blank, like they didn't remember writing that we had a second entree. Finally got that entree after some more waiting. After we paid and started to leave, there was no goodbye or thanks like we used to receive. Not to mention, the prices are getting higher as others on Yelp have mentioned. Why are things getting worse here? New people or new management maybe? Probably not coming back here again. I was a little hesitant to come here for pho since I live near East side where all the good Vietnamese restaurants are but I was craving pho and it's close to work. My colleagues like this place and I saw the good YELP reviews so I decided to give it a try. The ambiance of this Pho Restaurant is not like the ones you will find on the East Side. It's cleaner, the owner walks around and greets you and asks how your food is. You won't find that in more typical Vietnamese pho restaurants. Another thing is that the clientele here is majority non Vietnamese, but you know what, the food was actually pretty decent. It's definitely not the best pho I've had, but it hit the spot on a cold rainy day and I liked the atmosphere and service. I ordered the Tai Pho (rare flank steak). The slices of meat come on the side uncooked and I can dip it into my broth and cook it perfectly rare the way I like it. I also ordered an extra side of Bo Vien (meatballs) and it was good. It's a bumpy road ahead for this new location of Pho Wagon, unfortunately. Three stars for fresh, quality ingredients presented well. The negative part? Service. Specifically an obvious lack of staff training. My party visited this location just after the main lunch hours and were warmly greeted and seated after some confusion about where to put us. (many open seats) Plainly, we were then forgotten. We sat directly in front of the cashier and the entrance/exit to the kitchen by all of the wait staff. No one saw us or came to take our order for quite a while... Prompt arrival of the appetizer (yummy!) followed by a looooong wait for the entree. Then, oops, the wrong entree was served. Staff returned to collect the incorrect entree, offering to remove the charge for ours while still serving as ordered. Eventually. Worst of all was my observation of staff restocking utensils presumably fresh from wash. He seemed to have a cold and coughed into his hand while continuing to handle utensils and small dishes. Then, to my further dismay, dropped utensil on the floor, picked it up and set it aside (good), then throwing it back into the box of clean utensils after a couple of minutes. Yuck. Training. As a vegetarian, this place is truly great. Their vegetarian Pho is super tasty, comes in a small and large size and is just full of great things. First: the contents are broccoli, bok choy, carrots, tofu, onion/cilantro and noodles. You can either have rice or egg noodles. For me, I prefer to have either egg noodles or no noodles and I add rice instead. They give you a nice generous plate of thai basil leaves, jalapeño, lime and sprouts and there are fun condiments on the table for you to have too. Their broth flavor is just delicious, and after adding the lime and siracha I am really in Pho heaven. Its really hard for me as a vegetarian to find a Pho that is as perfect as this!! They have a nice jasmine ice tea drink that is good too. My husband and friends who eat meat all love their Pho too, and my other vegetarian friends who get their rolls also really enjoy the food too. The service is friendly and good - sometimes a little slow and you need to ask for extra napkins for ye ol' runny nose goodness that comes after. My only one and singular complaint is that they play this spanish acoustic guitar CD over and over and over and over and over and over and over. I am so use to my mom's food that it's hard to eat out at Vietnamese restaurants. I always compare it to my mom's cooking, which is awesome! My non-Vietnamese coworkers were craving pho so I took the opportunity to try pho wagon out. For our appetizer, we ordered a shrimp and pork egg roll and a vegetarian egg roll. It was yum! It was comparable to what my mom makes, which surprised me because I've had egg rolls at other Vietnamese restaurants and its never this good! My coworkers loved them! It was so good that I didn't even wait for it to cool down. For my main meal, I ordered pho with tendon and beef balls. The soup was tasty and there were plenty of meat. My other coworkers ordered a vegetarian pho and chicken pho. They both enjoyed it as well. They also commented that this place is better than the other places they've tried. The service was also great. We didn't have to wait long for them to take our orders. Our cups were always filled with water and the food came out nice and hot. I plan to go back and try their rice plates. I will also be bringing a few other coworkers so they can try it out. read more

When you crave pho, you gotta have it. And this pho is REALLLYYY good. I've tried pho at least like 5 different places but Pho Wagon blew them all away. I just get the rare steak but my boyfriend and his friends get the chicken pho and they love theirs and I love mine. Only thing is don't go right before closing! One time we called at 8:50 pm and asked if we could still come in and they said yes. So when we walked in they said 'Were you the ones that called?' and I said Yes. We ordered 1 rare steak and 1 chicken but they brought out 2 chicken. I decided it wasn't worth complaining since they took us in so late. But then the cleanup crew (really just one kid) came and stood like 1 foot from our table looking at us out of the corner of his eye so we felt rushed and uncomfortable. They have got me so hooked, I come here a few times a week to get my pho fix! ****Not your ordinary pho joint**** Pho Wagon is NOT a hole in the wall nor seems sketchy. This restaurant is immaculate and the service is impeccable. Go and see for yourself! Once you have pho here, you'll see what I mean and will be going back for more. If you're not up for pho, they also have a selection of rice plates to choose from. My favorite bowl is Pho Ga (Chicken Noodle Soup). Top this off with basil, sprouts, hoisin sauce & Sriracha. This is now our 'go to' pho place since moving to the Willow Glen area. The one we used to go to in Santa Clara on El Camino is just too much of a hike these days, and frankly, Pho Wagon is definitely more welcoming! It's really clean and the staff are all nice, we always get seated quickly and they have kids' options (usually I'd have to share a bowl of pho with our 6 year old, but this way, she gets her own). I do wish the kids' pho came with veggies, at least a handful of greens and carrots, but that's no biggie, I'm actually sure if we asked then they could accommodate it as a side for little extra charge. I think my favourite would be the noodle dish with prawns and pork - their egg rolls aren't my favourite but honestly, I'm pretty picky when it comes to egg rolls. This is the worst Vietnamese restaurant Ever. First: the beef stew cooked in a wrong way with just a few of meat in a Ocean of water. Second: It took them 45 minuets to make a bowl of soup. The service was very bad attitude, they are never smile to us. Even they saw our hand for questions they ignored us wearily. Third: the communications is hard for people here with English. The waitress asked us if we wanted to have both soup come out at the same time but my bf have to wait for 45 minuets to have food while I had my soup earlier 30 minuets ago. I hope yesterday was just an off day. I've been dining here over the years but today was a disappointment. This is a restaurant that I have enjoyed and can walk too frim my home. Yesterday my appetizer, an eggroll, was served at the same time as the entre was cold, the shrimp and chicken in the entree weren't even heated all the way through. Having had many good meals over the years there I thought it was a fluke until a table near me complained her dish was cold too. The waitress took the dish and rolled her eyes as she took it back to the kitchen. I never return my food because I don't trust what will happen on the way back to the kitchen. I just take it home and reheat it with a decision that the restaurant had a bad day or I will never return. I would like to give credit to the excellent young man, with blue hair. that was busing tables. He was excellent and the only reason I left a tip. The woman that seated and took orders was horrible and needs to find a job not working with the public. I will give one more chance in hopes the lady was having a bad day. In the future she and all people in the hospitality service need to check their bad attitude at the door. If not Kahn's consistantly has great hot food and service with a smile. We've been coming here for few years. Our most common meals are rare steak pho and chicken pho. Occasionally I will branch out and get some sort of meat and rice dish, my favorite being the Rock 'n Roll beef. I also have a slight addiction to the fried won tons. We mostly do take out and generally everything is good and we are given lots of meat and veggies. There have been a few visits when portions were off, and every now and then the won tons have tasted like they were not freshly made. However this is the exception rather than the rule. We went there after a day trip to monterey and our friends wanted to eat something light. We got there right before it closed and were greeted with nice staff. We quickly proceeded to order the vegetarian spring rolls, pho, vegetarian noodle soup, veg fried rice and lemongrass pork with egg rolls. The soups came out very quickly and the others followed soon. My pho with beef was very average, the amount of meat was just OK and the thin noodles were clustered (they should dip it and mix it in the broth before serving). The veg spring rolls were OK, but my expectation for vegetarian Vietnamese food is pretty low. The lemongrass bbq pork was good but again nothing fancy. All around a very good Pho restaurant. Extremely quick service given that the food arrived within minutes; however, once I received the food, that was then end of the service. The Pho made up for it though, quickly soaking up all the wonderful flavor but not too overpowering in any one category. Let me start off by saying that I am now a fan of this place, even though it is pricier than the average Pho restaurants in the South Bay. I tried their combination (#6) yesterday afternoon for a late lunch. It was very good. I must admit that I was very shocked that it would be very good. It is because I was very skeptical about the prices at the original location in Sunnyvale. $7.50 for a small bowl? Too pricey, IMHO. I will definitely return there in the future. And have a Thai Ice Tea, which I believe is on the house on Tuesdays. By the way, they are not open on Mondays. Also, they are closed between 2:30 to 5:00 Tuesdays through Fridays. It's a good pho place, especially if you're not driving to the east side. Prices are a bit higher than your average pho place but the restaurant is clean, the service is good, and the parking is easy and plentiful. As for the food, I tried the pho tai and the broth was flavorful, the meat quality is better than average, and the portion was decent. I love Pho Wagon and I am so sad we live farther away from it! Their pho is great. Their spring rolls are FAB! My daughter LOVES their children's chicken plate. My husband and I are also very big fans of the chicken salad. I wish I could say I have tried everything on the menu but I haven't ... yet! My only suggestion would be for them to actually allow chicken as a modification to their spring rolls. I am, how do you say.... picky. I don't like tofu a lot of the time and pork is not my thing. So having chicken as an options would be so much nicer. But, for now, I just get plain veggie spring rolls without tofu. They look at me funny but do it anyway. OVERPRICED. I can't believe the prices here for such mediocre food. The first time I came was with coworkers and I wasn't too hungry, so I only ordered the shrimp spring rolls. They were just OKAY pretty much your average rolls with peanut sauce for $6-7+tax I forgot the exact price. The last time I went i ordered wonton and bok choy soup to-go for $11.50 and a CAN of Sprite for $2.25, with tax my total was $15.02. And it's literally just that inside the soup, Wontons and bok choy. To add veggies costs $4.50. So I'm like this better be bomb for this price!! The wontons were so disgusting and non authentic tasting. Like the fast food version of wontons. The meat inside was hard and overcooked I immediately spit it out after biting into it.
