Upon entering, the staff took our temperature, which is great to for Covid 19 safety procedures . The restaurant is very new, nice and clean. I was surprised to see that every table has a bottle of hand sanitizer and no bottles of condiments on each table, they bring pre-made sauce, for pho out to you. We had very friendly customer service! Glancing thru the take out menu, My mom and I decided to share the pho and banh mi sandwich. We got the large chicken and meat ball pho (11.95) Yep., I made my own pho combo and the Vietnamese sandwich Banh Mi Thit ($7.95) . The pho came out in a nice huge bowl, piping hot. The Banh Mi looked bigger in size compared to other Vietnamese restaurant. The verdict from this visit with my mom, 5 stars. The pho broth was really good, light and flavorful, the broth was hot. The banh mi bread was so crispy and fresh. The only complaint I have is that the filling of Banh Mi is not full & I wish they have steamed pork with pate as options for their Banh Mi. Everything but the broth and the chili paste were amazing. Service was awesome. You could tell people loved this place. It was even late at night. We got takeout. The broth was so sickening sweet that I watered it down half and it tasted more like true pho. But because I had to water it down by half the typical spices were not as easily detectable I went here about four months ago, and it was spot on, so good for a restaurant. of course I make this kind of soup at home typically, but we were in a pinch and wanted to have a bit of fun, not spending our night cooking. All said and done the broth was like candy tonight and it was not great. I hope you have a better experience when you visit this restaurant. It kind of ruined our night. Pho is about beef not sugar. I've been going to Pho Waipahu for a couple years now but noticed the change recently when I went last weekend with my family. Their broth is good but I think it's just a lil overpriced. $12 for the smallest summer rolls & almost $20 for a "large" bowl? But honestly it's a small size. I understand that it is expensive to run a business in Hawaii but I just feel like we got robbed for 2 bowls of pho & summer rolls. The service is fast but they don't drop the check- you have to go up to the counter. I told them you know that makes it really easy for people to just dine & dash. Server told me "well it's busy". The soup is clean and flavorful without the overpowering star anais taste like other places...and one of the few places that has fatty brisket and fatty oil upon request...the hot chili oil sauce combination that comes with it is so delicious and I put it on everything. Glad to have stumbled upon this place on accident. It was raining outside and decided, why not. Haven't had Pho in a while and this place didn't disappoint. Walked in and got seated right away. There's about 5 or 6 tables so it can get full quick but you can also do take out. It's nice and clean inside and the workers are nice and responsive. After ordering, our food came out within 10 minutes and everything was so good! Steak pho, shrimp summer rolls, green papaya salad and a refreshing thai tea. The green papaya salad was a little more on the spicy side, I prefer it to be more tangy with citrus or the fish sauce but that's just me, it was still delicious! It was the only Pho place I was able to find on Yelp that was open before 10AM. I have never heard of this place, it's a little hole in the wall spot. We were lucky to come in right when they opened because it seemed like a popular place since it got packed pretty quickly. Their menu was packed with different types of food, but our main focus was Pho. I love that they have different sizes for their Pho, from Medium, Large, and X-Large. Although you should just order the Large since it's a dollar more from the medium. They pre-make their sauces for you and it was a perfect serving as it wasn't too spicy for me. I ordered their Steak and Beef Ball Pho. Although I wish they had an option to create your own pho as there was other options of meat I wish I could add. Their broth was delicious. It was flavorful and their steak cuts were large. We also had their summer rolls and I was glad that they had jumbo shrimps in them. Their peanut sauce for the summer rolls were also not too thick or watery, it was perfect. I had also ordered their Thai Tea, it was super sweet, just the way I like it. Some of our close Vietnamese friends in California took us to the most legit spots there, as recommended by their extended family, which instigated my partner's craving for pho. Oahu has always been a roulette, where sometimes the pho tastes sugary sweet, crazy spiced, or just off. In our renewed vigor, Yelp rewarded our searching with Pho Waipahu. We rolled up late, around 8pm on a Sunday, and still had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. There was no wait list, we walked in to let the server know we were waiting, and the server just remembered each party outside and called us in order. It should be noted that our vaccine cards were not checked. The interior of the restaurant was bright and well furnished - the modern lighting, quartz and tile were a refreshing change from the usual drab eateries of late. Our server was quick and attentive, despite the full house. She was curt and efficient, which can be misconstrued for apathy or even anger, which can be common at Vietnamese stops - possibly a cultural or language barrier. We could hear her arguing about a take-out order during our meal, but ultimately offering compensation in the pursuit of customer satisfaction, a truly welcome attitude and work ethic. The shrimp summer rolls ($7.95) were mostly vermicelli, but had a good balance of flavor from the mint and lettuce. Not the best summer rolls I've had but refreshing nonetheless. Our pho ($10.95 med) featured a rich, savory broth that was nothing but delicious. I had the steak, brisket, tendon, and meatballs, all of which were generous and tasty. If you haven't had tendon before, it's my absolute favorite - soft, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth flavor. The pho came with a requisite plate of beansprouts, thai basil, and lemon. There are no sauces, but they bring a saucer with a mix of sriracha, hoisin, and chili paste (pho heads know what's up). Drop that flavor boost in your broth for a good time. No need to fret about the fixin's for the pho they're all included. We order (every time) the bbq banh mi and one time we got the rare steak beef pho and another time we got the brisket pho, but all times we got meatballs on the side to put inside the soup! Pros: great portion sizes, big enough that it feels indulgent like it should, but not so large that it's overwhelming. super fresh, crisp and soft and chewy baguette! tender bbq pork with depths and depths of flavor it's insane. The pho also taste home made, i love that they include a cup of hoisin and garlic chili paste. I prefer the brisket I think it soaks up the broth the best, but my husband prefers the rare steak texture. This place is really good! So happy it's really close to our home in Waipahu. We used to drive out to kapolei for pho but now we have this in our backyard. We tried the banh mi sandwhich with bbq, fried egg rolls and saimin with fatty beef brisket. My favorite item of the trio was the saimin with fatty beef brisket. They use vietnamese egg noodles not the traditional saimin noodles. Usually when I go to pho restaurants I order mi hoanh thanh which is wonton soup with egg noodles. This is my number 1 pho spot to go to on Oahu. I always order the steak pho with egg noodles. The broth is sweet and savory. They don't give the bottle of siracha or hoisin sauce, they give a good amount it in small plastic containers. But if you wanted more, they will give more sauce. Be mindful, they do charge $0.60 for take out containers which can be normal in Hawaii. I always go during early lunch time so it isn't busy. There was a time I brought a party of 7 and they were able to accommodate. No matter how big our party is, the service is always fast. It is always clean in this restaurant. This is my favorite pho location! I must say that this pho is the most robust, flavorful, and full pho I have ever had. This pho has always hit the spot. I get it with no onions because I just don't care for the raw onion taste overpowering my pho. This pho has a nice sweet and savory flavor that beats out pretty much every pho I have had. I don't use any sauces in my pho, and I only add a little when I take my bites. They give you your sauces combined in a dish, but you can customize what you'd like in it if you ask. The noodles are always made perfect and never too soggy or too hard. I am so excited every time I go because I know it'll always be amazing. The service they give is always quick, honest, and so welcoming. The restaurant itself is fairly large and can accommodate large parties if needed. I be ordered the spicy beef pho, chicken pho, a bbq plate and their spring rolls. After drop off, it smelled good, but my pho bowls were covered with good portions of topping minus the soup, which was separate. Neither chicken or my beef were marked. Like I said, it was heavily covered so you couldn't see which bowl had which meat. But, assuming the way it was arranged in the bag, the bowl , was on top, soup container beneath . After cracking the soup and added condiments, I gave my bowl a stir, and surprise, wrong meat with the spicy soup! Wasted it, no one wanted spicy chicken pho! So I go to the next bowl, use the spicy soup. Stir and waaalah! It's my beef pho! After getting into moving the stuff around in bowl, I was like HUH? Spaghetti noodles??? That was a farce! Then the spicy soup? Ummmm BIG ZERO! NO HEAT NO SPICE! Big DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Both soups were excessively sweet and overdosed with fish sauce. Soup base was probably identical, because they both truly tasted the same.. This food was far as far off it gets from what this food is suppose to taste like!!! Honestly my favorite pho place to date. I personally love the flavor of their broth, I don't add anymore sauces to the broth. I come here often and i do wish the sauces were on the table like other places to because I only use the hoisin and chili oil for my meats/noodles. The other staff, male with glasses is simply unwilling to be helpful in performing more than the barest of duties. But the "lead" male waitstaff has ruined my families experience more than once, and I will not be patronizing this business again due to this. I love eating in at Pho Waipahu. They have 4 stars for a certain reason. When I moved back home to Hawaii, I needed my Pho fix. I tried like 6 places to get to this place. The food is amazing, the service is good but it's not awesome. I've held my tongue several times when it came to asking for more condiments /sauce or a certain type like hoisin. It matters to me because I am a condiment/saucy person & I'm not the one to waste any or play with my food which is why I ask for a specific condiment. Several occasion (both dining in and pick up orders) they would give me one cup of hoisin sauce mix with the chili oil and one packet of sriracha like in the pic. I'm not sure if they are short on condiments. I picked up my order & I ask the cashier before my food was made for lots of Chili Paste, shoyu, hoisin by itself & sriracha. I double check the order by looking through the bag & asked for more as I pointed to just one small cup of condiment. She looked at me, huffed, sigh , rolled her eyes & turned around to fetch one sauce cup. Why make a fuss when I'm being nice about it and a paying customer? I'm not sure if she was having a bad day but I bit my tongue & choose to give her grace. I came home only to find No Soy Sauce and No Chili Paste. This place is our new go to spot for pho!!! The broth is so delicious, not too cinnamony like most places on the island and cooked to perfection. They give a good amount of meat, too. Our usual orders are meatball pho, rare steak (sometimes with brisket pho), and combination or oxtail pho. My boyfriend loves the chicken, most places can't get it right or aren't consistent like they are. I love how clean the restaurant is!!! Again, most pho places aren't as clean and maybe it's because this place is fairly new but it's always clean...from the tables to the utensils and to the bathroom. The service is pretty quick, it depends who helps you...I think some of the servers lack English speaking which is understandable. Was craving pho for a while now. All my go tos are in town so glad I finally found a place in Waipahu that I love. First off the service is great. They really check up on you make sure you like your food. I got the combination pho and the quality of the meat is just pristine. I have never seen tendon so beautiful before. I will definitely be coming back for more. They are located by pacific supermarket next to where golden coin and Jolibee used to be. We went in on a Sunday night and we were seated right away. But glad we went in when we did because it started to get busy. It is also very clean, they wipe down everything when customers leave. I definitely recommend trying them out. read more
