Pho Whittier is priced very well and offers lots of options, along with many toppings. They are not stingy with the bean sprouts! Went here for the first time this morning, and I have to say it's ideal to satisfy a pho craving. It's located in a small plaza on Laurel and Whittier, pretty hidden with not as much parking. I ordered a pho brisket/rare steak for take-out, which was ready fairly quickly (5-10 min). The broth wasn't as flavorful as I had anticipated, but it wasn't really oily either which I'm happy about. The rare steak was tasty, but the brisket however was really fatty. I feel like there was more fat than there was actual meat, which was a little disappointing. We were happy with our experience the pho was delicious I got a large and share with my two girls we also ordered the pork chops and they were really good. My little nearly ate it all. First and last time, horrible service, I ordered two drinks with boba and 3 dishes. The customer that ordered after me had a different host that mentioned there was no boba. I received my drinks with no boba, and mentioned to my server that he didn't tell me they were out. And that I wouldn't have ordered it. I am so glad I tried this place twice! The first time I tried it, I ordered it to go and I never really love noodles when it is too go. The broth is not hot enough to break up the noodles effectively. Which is not a problem, but did prevent me from really appreciating the soup. Anyways, the next time I went in, it was amazing! I got the pho ga (chicken) and the broth was hot and flavorful, the noodles were perfect and the chicken was not tough. I do wish they had milk alternatives because I really wanted an avocado boba, but only had regular milk and I'm lactose intolerant :( My boyfriend got their chicken chow mein and that was amazing too. So I was having a hard time to figure out which Pho restaurant I wanted to go to and decided on Pho Whittier. This was a bad decision on my part because the first thing I noticed was that this Pho did not come with sides... the typical bean sprouts, jalapeños, and extra. The next thing I noticed was that my Pho which was supposedly suppose to be well done brisket, but turned out to be rubbery fat with pho broth. Everyone else was watching tv and seemed to be attending others - just overall a huge distraction and disconnection from the staff and customers as a whole. The place wasn't busy either on a late Monday night. The food was pretty good honestly, I didn't care on the quality of the egg rolls but the soup was great. Very flavorful BUT I often visit this other spot in uptown Whittier (about five min from this place) its called "PHO & ROLL" - they not only have amazing pho, rolls, etc.. but the service is honestly just the complete opposite, they are super friendly, very attentive and often give complimentary samples just because.
