I came in a large group. The staff was incredibly attentive, patient, and accommodating. Our server was great and did a good job handling our tables. This restaurant isn't ideal for a large group as it is a bit of a smaller restaurant but the staff was gracious enough to make it work. The service was 5 star. My food... 3 stars. I ordered the brisket benny. The brisket was fatty and not very flavorful. The hashbrown casserole was very okay. Overall, the food was average but the service was phenomenal. Some of the people at my table enjoyed their food so maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I'd be open to trying Phoebe's again to see if I like the next dish better. read more

We got the crispy brussel sprouts which were very good and had came with some aioli sauce which I loved. I got the brisket burrito and enjoyed it but wasn't crazy about it. It had a lottt of cheese and I wasn't sure how I felt about the hash brown casserole being in there. I didn't try my boyfriend's burger but it looked great and I enjoyed some of the tater tots. Went on a Tuesday morning so it was nice and easy to get in. We were sat right away and drink orders taken right away. Few minutes later we received our drinks and ordered food. Within 5-6 minutes our food arrived! I ordered the Badass Bacon & Eggs! I've never had Slab bacon but it was great! Thick and cooked perfectly, eggs were just what I asked for, and wheat toast was toasty. Plate was also Served with hash brown casserole and smoked tomato salsa! My coworker got a bunch of ala-cart items and he tore them up! Nice little diner feel, wonderful staff, and great food! Would definitely go back if in the area! We were greeted promptly by our waiter who let us know the specials as well as his faves, got our drinks and dove into the expansive menu. Ended up ordering his recommendation of the fried chicken and grits and a side of brussel sprouts to share! That was the way to go! The one serving was plenty for two, esp for such a heavy dish. You can ask for extra crispy which gives me a pork skin crunch flavor! The French toast I couldn't even finish but I surely wanted to take home. Surprisingly, at noon on a Saturday we were able to get seated immediately. They do not take reservations but we were able to bring 16 people, including some kids and strollers. The service was very quick and everyone was extremely friendly. I got the chorizo hash, which is basically a kind of fall harvest bowl with egg and guac. It was tasty and the perfect size for one person. The smoked beet hash also got good words from my friends. The spinach salad with chicken was a disappointment since the chicken was dry and the salad too plain. The brussel sprouts had good flavor but they were a bit too crispy for my taste. I recently stumbled upon Phoebe's Diner on Memorial Day and what a pleasant surprise! We walked in around 2PM, not knowing they closed at 3PM. We were seated right away and the service was great. I ordered their fried chicken biscuit and shared a blood orange mimosa pitcher with a friend. I'm a major fan of friend chicken and biscuits - these were seriously top tier! Be sure to get the gravy on the side, it's perfectly spices and I ended up dipping, well everything in there. The waiter was very friendly and personal. My wife ordered the corn bread for a appetizer! It was served with a strawberry jam, a jalapeño jelly, and butter! The cornbread was excellent and very tasty! It was 4 of us and I almost ordered another order. My two daughters had the special: Brioche French Toast with blueberry sausage! Now I know that sausage sounds weird but it was amazing ( not sweet at all but very savory). The French toast required no syrup and was served with fruit on top and cinnamon sugar crunch! I has the crab and crawfish Benedict! It's not your average Benny, more of a crab and crawfish patty with hollandaise sauce and eggs on top. But by no means does it change how delicious it was! While in Austin we have to be cautious where we eat. My husband is allergic to gluten. A lot of places have limited options if any. The atmosphere was nice, just note that there is not a dedicated parking lot for this location. We arrived at noon on a Friday and were able to be seated right away. My husband enjoyed the cold brew. The food was absolutely amazing!!! The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. The biscuit was the perfect consistency. The pepper jam and sausage gravy were perfect additions. The French toast was much bigger than in the pictures so I made the mistake of ordering a side egg and bacon. Loved it!!! We added our name to the waitlist which moved really quickly; we were #26 but got called to be sat. We started with south first tots and 2 cocktails. I forget the names but I had a clementine margarita and my bf had a spiked coffee drink. The tots were extremely hearty but very good. The drinks were tasty. I had the fried chicken biscuit with a side of sausage gravy and my bf had the chicken sandwich (fried). The fried chicken was soooo good. My meal came with roasted potatoes which were good but I would've preferred fries or home fries, still good nonetheless. Our server was so nice. We really really enjoyed our meal. We are passing through town and I always use Yelp to find the best spots to eat. This spot came up as locally owned and rated very high so we decided to give it a try. This particular location does not have parking which is a bummer so 2 to 3 dollars for a couple of hours of parking is not bad. Also upon entry, the host was a bit smug. She wasn't terribly friendly, but she sat us right away. The waiter, on the other hand was as friendly as they come! I forgot his name but he made great recommendations and our food came out within 10 minutes. I originally ordered the shrimp and grits but failed to see that it contained chorizo so I had to send it back and settle for the fried chicken and grits. Both dishes that we had, below were amazing! Deep fried French toast was amazing. The "star" of the breakfast menu for sure. Whipped cream and decadent. Taquitos salad was pathetic. The salad was small and we probably should have ordered something else. The restroom wait is long so I would recommend planning accordingly. We each started with a Vietnamese coffee--it was fine, but far from my favorite Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. I had the smoked beet hash and added brisket to it, and my boyfriend had the migas with chorizo. My hash was very tasty, super smoky, and a huge bowl of food. The egg was cooked nicely and the brisket was excellent. A huge huge huge guacamole fan, I surprised even myself when I told my boyfriend that the guacamole did not belong on this dish. It was the only cold item and everything else was piping hot--which resulted in a weird semi-warm guac. My boyfriend liked his migas, but he did not receive the chorizo with it (he ultimately was fine with this). The potatoes were definitely the standout, and the rest of the dish he said was good. Phoebe's was busy but the wait for a table was assuaged by the bar server who took our order for two Bloody Mary's which were well crafted. The wait was only about 10 minutes and our server could not have been better - attentive, informative, friendly. We ordered the fried chicken biscuit and the chicken fried steak and both were excellent. Generous portions, nicely presented, and very tasty. For those looking more for breakfast, the chorizo hash is large and full of flavor. A couple of notes - they don't do more than a regular cup of coffee so if your a big cappuccino or latte fan, you will be out of luck but trust me it will be worth it. I went by myself on Saturday afternoon and even though it was very busy, I was sat within 5 minutes at 2-person booth. I knew what I wanted to order since I had looked at the reviews and quickly put my order in for the Fried Chicken and Grits, and French Toast. Both were delicious but the must get item is the Fried Chicken and Grits; so nicely balanced with the spice, sweetness, and savory. (I added whipped cream and strawberries to my French toast for an up-charge but wasn't worth it) They started to get a little less busy so I pulled out a little solo game while I finished my food and the staff never rushed me. A humble joint for homey Southern food. Staff are just as sweet as its food. The server kindly allowed me to hold a table for my friends as they were running late, which is usually not allowed. Other staff also checked in on our party on a frequent basis. Food was solid. Standard American brunch fare with a Southern twist of course. The banana French toast was the best dish we ordered. It wasn't too sweet (surprisingly!) and I enjoyed the banana, maple, and almond flavors. Bread also had a slight crunch and was fluffy inside despite us leaving it out until the very end.
